‘Tiger King’s’ Carole Baskin Gets Emotional In ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Preview Leading Into Tonight’s Competition

Photo: ABC

Dancing with the Stars returns on a special night on ABC, Tuesday September 22nd (8 p. m. EST) for the first elimination of the new season.

In a preview ahead of its airing, ABC released a promo featuring Tiger King’s Carole Baskin, who had scored the lowest tally in last week’s competition, breaking down in tears, in front of the cameras.

The impetus of the emotional moment was when Carole was talking about the impact the Netflix series has had on her life.  Baskin is paired with pro dancer Pasha Pashkov with whom she tells, “This is the absolute worst of this”, when recalling what she went through. For Baskin, did not like how she was portrayed in the series.

Carole runs the Big Cat Rescue Sanctuary in Florida and since “Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness” became a smash hit, she has found herself in controversy.

As viewers and the public now know, Joe Maldonado-Passage (AKA “Joe Exotic”), is serving a 22-year prison term for his part in in a murder-for-hire plot to kill Baskin.

During tonight’s competition look for her and Pashkov to dance the Viennese Waltz to “What’s New Pussycat” by Tom Jones further playing up her cat and tiger association.

Watch the preview below, then let us know: what do you think of Baskin’s sentiments? Will she be be first celebrity contestant leaving the ballroom tonight? Comment below.

Make it stop. It’s like watching the Titanic sink in real-time from a video camera in the ballroom. “Ignore the creaking and groaning, and DANCE MY FRIENDS….DANCE!”

I haven’t a clue who this person is but there seems to be a lot of chatter, good and bad about her, especially after DWTS first show. To tell you the truth, I just saw a middle aged woman looking, acting and dancing like a crack-pot.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ Waltzes its Way Back to ABC

In a surprise turn of events, the long-running celebrity dance ballroom competition, Dancing with the Stars, is returning to ABC following its one-year detour to the streaming platform Disney+.

According to Vulture who broke the news, the Disney powers-that-be have decided it makes more sense to meet audiences needs wherever they are.

Therefore, moving forward for its 32nd season, DWTS will air live on the ABC network and continue to stream live on Disney+.

With Bob Iger back in charge at Disney, the business units are determining how content gets distributed, and they feel the show belongs at ABC.

Previously, DWTS was the first live series to debut on Disney+ and the first live streaming reality show in the U.S.

Now, with Julianne Hough set to be the new co-host joining Alfonso Ribiero, looks like there are several other changes underway, including that this will be the first season without former head judge, Len Goodman, who decided to leave the show after last season and recently passed away.

Last season’s Mirror Ball Trophy winners were Mark Ballas and Charli D’Amelio.  Who might compete this year? Time will tell.

So, what do you think of Dancing with the Stars returning to network TV? Will it make you watch the new season? Comment below.

Len Goodman, Former ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Head Judge, Passes Away at 78

Len Goodman, the beloved and often crusty former head judge of Dancing with the Stars, as well as the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing, has died.  Goodman passed away at the age of 78 following his battle with bone cancer.

According to the BBC, Len passed away while at hospice in England over the weekend on Saturday.

Goodman’s agent, Jackie Gill confirmed his passing sharing, “It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78. A much loved husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends and all who knew him.”

Throughout DWTS run, Len was the on-going presence who was often harsh and critical in his assessment of the celebrity contestants and their dance partners when they didn’t deliver enough of the signature moves from the required style of dance.   However, when you impressed Len, he would often hold up his scoring paddle and utter, “From Len, a 10!”  Those words meant so much to the couples vying for the Mirror Ball trophy each season, because if you could impress Len you felt you were on the right track.

Goodman appeared from the beginning of DWTS in 2005 through last year in 2022, when it was revealed at the end of its 31st season, he would be stepping away from the show to spend more time with his family.  Len also served as head judge on Strictly Come Dancing from 2004-2016.

This morning, following the news of Goodman’s death, Len’s former friend and DWTS colleague and judge, Bruno Tonioli tweeted: “Heartbroken my dear friend and partner for 19 years the one and only ballroom LEGEND #LenGoodman passed away. I will treasure the memories of our adventures @bbcstrictly @officialdwts there will never be anyone like you. you will always be my perfect 10.”

In addition, Carrie Ann Inaba, who along with Tonioli and Goodman have been at the DWTS judges table together during the series run, posted an emotional tribute via her Instagram account paying tribute to her friend and colleague.

Inaba shared: “Dancer. A teacher. A refined gentleman. A wonderful storyteller. A special soul. A mentor. A family man. And… A treasured friend.Saying goodbye at the end of last season broke my heart. But today’s news has shattered it all over again. I can’t believe that you’re gone. 💔 You were one of a kind my dear friend. And I will cherish our memories and hold them close, while I join so many others in mourning your loss. Thank you for all that you shared with us. Your humor, your wisdom, your wit and your truth. Until we meet again…✨Rest In Peace Len 🤍”

When it was revealed that Len was exiting Dancing with the Stars after its 31st season, the series aired a very emotional clip package honoring the man who meant so much to the show, the dancers, and the audience at home.  You can watch it below.

Len is survived by his son James and his wife, Sue Barrett.

Now, share your condolences and remembrances for Len Goodman in the comment section.
