Todd Leaves Llanview On This Week's One Life to Live! Roger Howarth Delivers Heartbreaking Performance!

Oh boy! Well, this was a long time coming for fans of One Life to Live, who know that Daytime Emmy winner and fan favorite, and one of the best actors in soaps of all-time, Roger Howarth exited his role of Todd Manning in the reboot of One Life and is on General Hospital, as of now, full-time as Franco.

In this week’s two new episodes of One Life to Live on Hulu and iTunes, Todd has to leave Llanview to save his family and thus he has to say some very touching and heartbreaking goodbyes to the woman he loves, his children, and his sister.

As played brilliantly by Roger Howarth, it’s as if this once bad boy Todd Manning, has come full circle with the ability to love and be loved, but with all the baggage and history deeply embedded within him.

In each of the goodbye scenes, it feels painfully real to us as Howarth has his for what we know his last scene with Erika Slezak (Viki).  Seeing these two together again was magical, even though there was just not enough of it!  It left us wanting more.  Grab the hankies!  Later, when Todd visits Dani (Kelley Missal), he comes to tell her to look after Tea (Florencia Lozano) and to take care of herself.   Again, beautifully played by both actors.    odd also says goodbye to little Sam (Patrick J. Gibbons) and that as well is filled with so much history for those who watched One Life on ABC, and then on to embittered son, Jack (Andrew Trischitta) who always saw Victor Jr. (Trevor St. John) as his father, but deep down wants to love his real dad, Todd.

Finally, it is Todd and Blair (Kassie DePaiva) together again, just as long time fans of One Life have been waiting for. And like every soap opera, their star-crossed love will have to wait for another day, as after another night together, Todd has to leave Blair behind to save his family, and because he is in so much trouble!  Kassie DePaiva played Blair’s devastation to the hilt, and Roger was subtle with all a performance that resonated in his eyes and his body language.

Watch this week’s episodes of One Life to Live below! Then, let us know what you thought about Roger’s last scenes with Erika Slezak, Kelley Missal and Kassie DePaiva? Was it heartbreaking for you to to see Roger as Todd walk out the door?  Will we ever see one of the greatest characters of all-time, Todd Manning again?  Do you think we will see Roger back as Todd in an upcoming season of OLTL? Comment below!

Hoping that the two shows can once again work together and share Roger.

that would be nice to see,but i think that roger,s committed to playing Franco, full time now,but i hope that it works out ,so that he could fly back n forth from connecticut n california, where ,both shows are filmed

Even if Rodger Howarth leaves One Life To Live for good as Todd Manning and stays on General Hospital as Franco, he will always be the one and only Todd Manning to me and millions of fans of his, and as far as I am concerned, I prefer him as Todd Manning even though he does a great job as Franco.

I also prefer Michael Easton as John McBain on One Life To Life with Natalie and their son Liam. I, along with a whole lot of fans of John and Natalie hated when the writers had John cheat on Natalie, especially after all of their fans waited for such a long time for the writers of One Life To Live to finally get John and Natalie back together again to raise their son together. I can’t speak for all of the other Michael Easton fans but I can’t stand looking at him on General Hospital, I fast forward past all his scenes, and I hate that One Life To Live is putting Natalie with Cutter. The writers made a big mistake when they tore John and Natalie, plus now Todd and Blair apart, this just proves that there are no good writers for either show.

I think that Roger Howarth is one of the best actors to hit soap operas to date. he not only was awesome portraying “Todd Manning” on One Life To Live for so many years but was able to adapt to playing “Franco” on General Hospital as well. I don’t think that the writers should have cancelled him out on GH as Todd but for him to be able to play both characters pretty much at the same time is just truly amazing acting ability. He is one of my favorites and I hope to continue to see him portray both characters for quite some time. I hope that One Life to Live doesn’t write “Todd” completely off because no one has been able to paly a character like that for a very long time. I love Roger and I think he is a phenomenal actor. he deserves much more credit than he has been given.

I think as long as the reboot stays alive (and I think it will), we will see Roger Howarth again at some point. I think he truly loves that role and has already stated that he would do both shows as his schedule allows.

So sad, it is really too bad to see him go. I hope he really will return someday as he promises Dani. 🙁

I can’t see the videos at all. I get white with an exclamation point! And I was sooo looking forward to it! WHY?

I dont get the video…my area is completely dark…i dont even get the white with the exclaimation point…but i got Michelle Staffords and some others…its happened to me before as well.

LOL
it effects the fans more than him..
RH is an actor doing his job, acting..
I’m sure it was nice for him to be on OL for a short while, be it is his choice to be with GH. GH is where he chose to be because that is where he wants to be.

I am fan of both OL and GH and I Like RH on GH best..
With GH he gets to create something/one new, has a new exciting character to play..
He should not grow old and die playing the same character/Todd, he needs to expand.

So happy he back full time with GH and am soooo looking forward to his Franco!!!!

I agree

Do we know for a fact that GH is where he’d rather be, or is it just because he has to fulfill a contract he signed?

Also, if in fact he prefers GH right now it might have more to do with the uncertainty of One Life’s reboot. All things being equal (both shows being on tv, money, etc) I’d bet he’d prefer Todd and OL.

I agree actors need to expand and try new things but so far this Franco thing is a hot mess, in my opinion.

Wrong, as usual.

Obsessively wrong, as usual.

He only wanted to do GH, when there was no One Life.

I agree acting is acting the man is doing what is best for him , soap fans can be so touchy no wonder ppl outside of being soap fans look at us and laugh and the superhero/comic con geeks get more respect than soap fans .. its acting ..if ppl love him so much they will respect him and watch him..no real actor now a days wants to be stuck on one show or typecast its the kiss of death as a actor now a days this is 2013 not1985 when soaps were king and the actors made much moneyas say rober redford did back then or had as much press

Thank you SuOOOO for your obvious statements full of overly simplistic platitudes. You might as well write,”I like Cotton Candy but I wouldn’t try and live on the stuff.”

It’s great! He will be seen on Television daily, I think he has a future there! Congrats Roger, bye! bye! Todd and OLTL I don’t care for On Line. I do watch OLTL on Opray!

Just wondering: You DO understand that “OLTL Online” is EXACTLY what you are watching on “Opray”, right?

Bahahaha

As a fan of TnB from their start…this good bye brought back the emotions of when he went to Ireland to save Marty……we thought at the time that that was the end of Todd Manning. I hope Roger comes back to OLTL….even if just a few times a year. NO ONE can play this character like Roger! Of course I am watching him on GH. Roger can play anything! Too bad he seems to be type cast as a bad boy….he could do romantic comedy wonderfully!

Had to wait 8 years the last time for Todd to come home so even one year if it takes even that long is nothing for we T and B ers. What is hard to stomach is watching the skill, elegance, and sheer beauty of RH’s last 2 episodes as Todd compared to the buffoon he is forced to play on GH. I guess when you have kids to raise you got to do what you got to do. Poor Roger.

Thank you Michael for this wonderful article. Roger and Kassie both had their fans in tears, these two actors are magical together! It was such a bittersweet feeling for all Todd and Blair fans. Roger is wonderful with Kassie and we are grateful that OLTL is back. We all have faith that Roger will work things out with his schedule and return to OLTL. Heartbreaking scenes and Performances were given by Roger Howarth and Kassie DePaiva. Todd & Blair Manning will be reunited again. So, for now I will not say good-bye to Roger or Todd Manning. Todd & Victoria are the best siblings, their good-bye was extremely touching.. These actors are all so talented and you can see that they have a strong bond.. Much thanks to Roger, Kassie, Erika and the cast for these episodes. Looking forward to Roger’s return. Todd belongs with his wife Blair and his entire Llanview family.

I TOTALLY agree with everything said.

I agree whole heartedley…couldn’t have said it better myself!

I agree. Todd will be back. I was brought to tears literally of his last episode. I will have to settle for him as franco and try to catch his scenes on Californication. Love Roger and will always have hope for his return to his true home. OLTL and Blair.

Todd is a very important character to our show (and to the fans), and I truly believe Roger will be back as he has on at least 3 other occasions. We waited a very long 8 years for his last return, so if we have to go a few months without him, I can manage that. When Todd promised Dani he would be back, it felt very real…like he was talking to all of us!

I think we ll see Todd back again in 2 episodes . The real one

I would love to see these episodes but alas that will never be.
Because back in May basically after two weeks of airing, Rogers and FX Canada pulled the plug on the show(s).
I was not about to pay out the nose for shows that I already had in my cable package.
I have missed everything….
I can’t get invested in Roger (whom I think is one of the most talented actors on the planet), as Franco….I’m barely even watching GH these days.
I hear he is going to be on Californication as a yoga instructor.
I do get HBO so I’ll be watching.

I believe I have, minimally, posted this information 100x for Canadian fans, but here it goes again. Feel free to search for an online proxy, which will work as an “intermediary”, if you will, between your internet and a site, such as Hulu, for free. OR you could purchase a VPN – I suggest Cisco – at a one time only fee, and watch whatever you want, whenever you want, wherever you want. I won’t even suggest iTunes, because I see you are still wasting money on a cable package. Proxy/VPN…free online viewing.

Pay the $1.50 for iTunes for episode 50. You will not regret it. It was very moving. You don’t even need to see what took place before this episode.

Roger deserves to be on a bigger stage than the OLTL reboot can give him, and the GH writers don’t know him well enough to write to his strengths. Ideally, ABC should have stepped aside and let the 3 actors continue playing the OLTL characters and have Kassie make the occasional appearance as Blair. But they boxed Todd into an irredeemable storyline that really had nowhere to go.

@silence1534. The GH writers are the OLTL writers (from ABC). Of course they know Roger.

Roger Howarth will be back at some point as Todd in OLTL..From a secret inside source, I know this much is true..Great performances by Kassie and Roger, I hope they get Emmy consideration next year!! The online reboot is getting better and better ..So glad to have our stories back, regardless of when, where and how much.

Well that would explain why they continue to promote the character and actor above everyone else.

I feel that he will come back !! OLTL is his home. He such a great Actor. As well I would also hope that Trevor St. John will also return . Love them both.

I really hope Roger/Todd comes back to OLTL. He is mesmerizing to watch and he brings out the best scenes in many other characters as well. Although he’s OK on GH, he’s amazing on OLTL.

I will miss Todd on OLTL..Haven’t really been watching it much, just can’t get into it like i did when it was on TV…But i hope Roger the best in the future with GH.Love him playing Franco,he is a wonderful actor ,i am just glad i can keep watching Roger do what he does best…

Although I was at first not into RH playing another daytime character, but since RH has returned as Franco (a Quartermaine), he’s added some new dimensions as Franco. He has made Franco into a guy with feelings. I am also anxious to see him on Califorication. At least RH is branching out and exploring California and not depending on New York which means OLTL. IMO, there is more to offer actors who chose to reside in California rather than New York. New York soaps are history. FACE IT!!!!!!

Who areyou ordering around, Susan and why do you seem so angry, negative and defensive? Maybe now is the time for reverence for this great character and this great romance. OLTL fans are also very excited about his upcoming stints on Californication and we attribute this opportunity to his brilliant portrayal of Todd on OLTL. We Todd/Roger fans are also happy he has this opportunity to wash out the nasty aftertaste of playing an ill conceived character called Tanko.

Susan M. is polite and not angry nor negative ..
I agree with her, RH has so much to offer as an actor and many rolls to play, that are not Todd..
RH will bring his new character Franco to great heights and create his own Franco.. I am excited to see Franco develope..

RH gave up the OLTL character of Todd Manning for 8 yrs,
and that is when Trevor St. John came into OLTL and played Todd, and I became a huge fan of TSJ, also..
RH goes where he wants to be, if some like it or not, it is his choice, his life and his happiness that is all that matters.
Whomever RH plays he will bring the character to life and give it his all..

I am looking forward to seeing RH in Californication.
And as Franco on GH! …. and in all that he dose.
🙂

Oh, and Susan–Tanko is not a Quatermaine, the truth is out–FACE IT!

He is a Quartermaine…its Lauren/Kiki who isnt a Quartermaine

He is NOT A Quartermaine it is going to come out that his mother is Heather webber!

I guess there are two Susan M’s now! I didn’t post the comment on 7/7 at 4:13pm…..

OLTL is filmed in Connecticut not New York. And I do not watch GH anymore since the OLTL actors have been on it. Sorry, Roger is Todd NOT Franco. I laughed when I saw Roger on GH as Franco! When the writers are done ruining GH I will return to watching it.

Proud Mary, keep on rolling!

then you shoudl start tuning in again because GH is getting good. hopefully it will stay on track. I’ve been a gh fan all my life, but i hate the fact that so much blame has been put on the oltl trio, i enjoyed their oltl characters and i’m now enjoying their new characters, i’m sorry that the oltl connection with GH is gone, but i support the actors and where they chosen to work. Nothing is set in stone so maybe one day the 3 actors will choose to visit their old home.

I agree Mary. I also stopped watching GH in May when they all returned. I want to see Todd Manning not a blond Franco acting like him. I hope GH gets better and hire some new writers.

I can hardly think of his leaving. Todd and Blair are two of my all time favorite OLTL characters. Todd and Vicki share a perfect brother/sister relationship. The love he has for his children has always been one of his saving graces. I was hoping he was going to do the part of Todd and his GH character. No one can play Todd like Roger. All I can say is I won’t be satisfied until I see him on OLTL again. Roger Howarth will truely be missed.

I didn’t mean to come across negatively. I am stating what I have observed that all East Coast soaps have been canceled. There have been no cancellations with the soaps in California. I applaud the three actors who transplanted themselves on the West Coast. Michael Easton is close to his birthplace of Long Beach which is about 20 to 30 miles south of LA. If I came across in a negative way, I am truly sorry. Thanks for alerting me about the soaps on the East Coast.
Yours, Susan

WHY OH WHY couldn’t OLTL still be on ABC at 1:00 central with the storylines that were on in Jan. 2013 continuing on . . . It is just not the same-none of it, right down to the Llanfair den-I tried to watch yesterday’s episode on OWN (which I had deleted long ago from my dvr but put it back for OLTO) & could not watch. The poker scenes seemed forced & nothing is the same.

If we don’t…I won’t be watching anymore! You are giving us nothing to keep us watching! You only brought back about 12 characters and more then half were un-important! I suppose they were all you could afford! Where is Rex and gigi…now theirs was a real love story! We didn’t get the long running Jessica back but we got the bimbo daughter who sleeps with the man who was only there to scam her brother Joey! True OLTL fans remember that story line! Todd was all we had to come back to…without him there is no OLTL ! Sorry Vic are still my favorite!!

I hope Roger is nominated for and wins a Daytime Emmy for his work on OL this year. And I hope Cartini, once again, go home empty handed for GH. The Alderson win was a hollow victory, Starr/Kiki is/was the worst character on GH.

Roger Howarth is a BRILLIANT actor.. who time after time, delivers POWERFUL performances. Howarth is destined to something beyond soap acting, altho I hope he’ll drop in for a spell in Llanview from time to time.

As for GH, it’ll be cancelled soon enuff.. then Howarth can stop bleaching his hair and playing that ridiculous character. It was a mistake for GH to keep RH and the others. I’m no HUGE fan of GH, but I started watching it again when they started bringing back characters from the past we actually CARE ABOUT!!! I don’t understand getting rid of characters with a history and great connection with the audience for people we don’t care about.

I care more about a Felicia-Mack-Frisco love triangle storyline than I do about any DID storyline or mob storyline or anything else. Watching AJ fight for ELQ and reconnect with his son is more interesting than anything Spinelli does.

BRING BACK THE LEGACY CHARACTERS GH!!! I don’t care about the younger cast members because they have NO CONNECTION to anyone I care about. If Lucy Coe had a daughter, I’d care because it effects Lucy.. I don’t care about some tramp that blows into town and starts trouble.. NOBODY CARES!!!

I’ve gone completely off the rails going from praising Howarth to venting my frustrations with GH. It’s a mistake alot of soaps make, getting rid of legacy characters for younger, “sexier” characters.. it takes time to build a rapport with these characters. BRING BACK CHARACTERS WE CARE ABOUT!!!

I agree with you. Not sure if you know…Lucy has two daughters. One was Serena which she gave birth to from Scotty and Dominique. The other was Christina which she adopted. And let‘s not forget…Lucy came to Port Charles in the mid 80‘s and her past was NEVER explored. That could be a gold mine. She could have children and grandchildren! She could have met Jimmy Lee Holt, sired a little Quartermaine, which now has little Q‘s Of their own. This show is missing all kinds of opportunities by ignoring a lot of the past and focusing so much on only the disturbing, depressing parts of the past they like (Franco, the Jerome‘s, the PORT CHARLES spin off element, etc).

I was referring to a biological child.. I remember Lucy having a baby for Scotty, I must have bailed when she adopted Christina. I left when the show turned into the Sopranos of Soaps.. except hardly anyone died.

How did Sonny go from a sleezy strip club owner to Don Corleone? I veer off track again, but the show was at it’s BEST in the early 90s.. particularly with the Jagger-Karen and her stripping storyline.. must watch back then now.. not so much. Only time I watch GH, is when I hear a legacy character is coming back.. when AJ came back, I watched.. when I heard Anna and Scorpio were coming back.. I watched, but after a storyline.. they immediately phase them out and go to a storyline focused around people I don’t care about.

Well said…I am all for the legacy characters, too, especially Frisco!!!! (Don’t care so much about Felicia and Mac, though…they plain bore me….) I simply cannot understand why it would have been so difficult to weave Mr. Jones into all these concurrent storylines that we are now seeing…he would have been a perfect fit on a number of them…I feel as though the rapid exclusion of his role has something more to do with an unspoken issue regarding the actor and the ptb’s, as opposed to a creative vision. Something is up there, and it has totally ruined the momentum that began a few months back for those of us who were hoping to see much more of “Frisco Jones!” As for many of the veteran actors who have returned, most are a very welcome sight: loved seeing Anna, Duke, AJ, Laura, Holly, Noah again. Not so much for Lucy, Kevin, Scotty, Richard Simmons and “Plastic Fantastic” Bobbie. Still waiting for Blackie and more Cassadines! And….BRING BACK FRISCO!!!!!

Roger chose OLTL. He will be back and I can’t wait. He sucks on GH. Face THAT.

Hopefully OLTL stays put and Todd can come back if only for a few shows at a time.He is such a good actor and it seemed so right when he was with Blair and Vickie they just seem so real.I love OLTL and will watch it no matter which venue it is on.

What a soap travesty it would be if this is the last we see if Roger Howarth in his iconic role of Todd Manning on One Life! His FrancoJasewhoever on GH is one big fail in a canvas that is already overloaded with vet characters who are never used! Word has it that Howarth has already signed an agreement to continue playing Todd, & that it was a stipulation between PP & ABC before the reboot began filming! The dialogue surrounding Todd’s exit as well as subtle comments by Kassie DePaiva also suggest that Todd will return to further the story. And the song playing at Todd’s exit touted the lyrics “This is not goodbye”. Howarth is unpredictable & would not limit himself to one acting job when he can have two.

I have always loved Roger Howarth in what ever role he played. What a great actor. I hope that the powers that be can arrange to share him on the shows as Franco is a totally different character than Todd. I cried for the whole show just knowing he is going and possibly never returning as Todd. He is willing to do both so they should try to do it. Great talent 🙂

All I can is General Hospital better appreciate what they got because Todd Manning is one of the best characters ever written. I know I will miss him, OLTL and General Hospital. So far, I am not a fan of the material writers are giving him to work with.

I agree with all of you, that Roger Howarth´s portrayal of Todd Manning is epic. He accomplished to make the audience deeply care for this character over nearly 2 decades.

Unfortunately his (maybe) last gig in this role didn´t satisfy me one bit, even though Roger Howarth gave his best to make this crappy stotyline work.
I´m sorry to say that but the lead up to the heartbreaking ending missed the the mark by a million miles.
The writers gave Todd the worst storyline ever, and it seems to me they have decided on the last 2 days of taping to make Todd and Blair a couple.

All in all I´m kinda glad that´s over. If he decides to play Todd again, I only hope that the writers don´t waste this man´s talent.
I rather enjoy Roger Howarth playing out a solid story line on whatever the show is called or whoever the character is named.

Roger used to play a great fascinating character. Kassie never did. PP and ABC gutted Todd and brought him to the level of ordinary by forever tying him to lowly humdrum Blair. It’s tragic. The support for “supercouple” Todd and Blair is ridiculous. No amount of fangirl cheering will change the tragedy. Viva Franco on GH! Viva Californication! Move forward Roger! Run like hell!

Roger and Cassie deserve a “Netty” – thats my award for the best performance on the internet.

Oprah – get ready to showcase these scenes as you plug your love affair with soaps….
You might see a big upswing in your audience.

Again cuddos to Roger and Kassie….. Long live Todd and Blair.

I love his new Character Franco i can’t wait to see where they go from hear with his new character

I can not view One Life to Live here in Canada.

I AM IN CANADA ,I WATCH ,BUT NOT TO WATCH RH TODD,I WANT TREVOR ST JOHN BACK ,I WILL ONLY FORGIVE RH TODD IF HE BRINGS TSJ VICTOR BACK.

I don’t see him coming back to OLTL. I think he’s done. Why would he want to live in Connecticut doing an online soap opera for less than half the time he used to over a full-time soap job with a major network making a lot more money? I think he did the OLTL stints as a favor and to say goodbye to his character and friends for good. If we ever see him again, it would be because OLTL was cancelled yet again, and the character was purchased by ABC from Prospect Park. Not likely to happen though because of the legal battles between the ABC and Prospect Park.

Ok, I really hope he comes back to Llanview because apparently the show is nothing without since he made it more interesting than Trevor St. John ever did, my personal opinion. How long is his contract as Franco, because when its done he can finally come back to home to his real show. Seriously Im asking, how long is his contract with General Hospital?!

Roger will be back someday.Todd Manning does not seemingly go away even when you have a twin brother playing you.I hope when the time comes they will make a story with the two without one killing the other.I hate twin stories like that. But I am really glad they didn’t kill off Todd as I thought would happen when Victor was poisoning him.

I hate this roger howarth we have to wait forever for todd to go back to his true love this suck and bites gh can go suck and egg I am so sad never see todd a blair for a long long long time I really hate this I will watching soaps these people make me sick.

Seeing RH on GH full-time makes my day every time he’s on. Couldn’t be happier that he’s back.

I think Roger Howarth makes the show one Life to live without Blair and Todd the show would be very boring,if the producer is thinking about not having him on the show I thimk your making a grave mistake. there womt be a lot of veiwers I hope that Erika Sleaslak also stays on because she is a brilliant actress. She also makes the show.I have been watching one life to live sinxe I was 9 years old and now im 52 I adore the show and will look forward to season 2 Please Please don’t take Roger off the show I will be devastated

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).

Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.

Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON

Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”

Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).

Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.

“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?

During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.

Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.

You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.

Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

It’s a milestone we couldn’t let pass by without taking some time to celebrate as a family (and, of course… eating some cake). 🍰 We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”

The 16,000th episode will feature Jason Morgan returning to the town of Port Charles, Anna and Valentin (James Patrick Stewart) reuniting, and a new surgeon, Dr. Tristan Roberts (Dean Geyer) joining the staff of ‘General Hospital.’
