TONIGHT: GH and Marine Vet, Chris Van Etten Featured In All-New Episode Of ’68 Whiskey’

Photo: Julie Licari

In what has been called the “Modern day M*A*S*H”, Paramount Network’s latest one-hour scripted series, 68 Whiskey, will feature a very familiar face to General Hospital’s viewers, when Marine vet, Chris Van Etten (Chet Driscoll) is part of the cast of the latest episode airing Wednesday night, February 5th at 10PMEST/9PMCST.

68 Whiskey is from noted Hollywood EP’s Brian Glazer and Ron Howard.  The show follows a multicultural band of Army medics stationed in Afghanistan on a base nicknamed “The Orphanage,” blending intense drama with  irreverent humor. Together, the medics navigate a dangerous and sometimes absurd world, relying on camaraderie, various vices, and occasionally, a profound sense of purpose, to carry them through.

As many know by now, Van Etten is a double-amputee.  Chris lost both his legs after he stepped on an IED (improvised explosive device), while serving in Afghanistan in 2012.

In his role on 68 Whiskey, Chris re-enacts the moment he lost his legs as his character “Louisville”, and then begs medics to give a letter he’s written to his wife.

For those who wonder just what does the title of the series, 68 Whiskey mean:  68W is the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) code for the United States Army’s Combat Medic.

So, will you be checking out Chris’ performance tonight?  Hope he returns for more episodes as GH’s Chet? Share your thoughts below.

In addition, check out our two-part interview with Chris from a few years back, conducted for the Michael Fairman Channel, where Chris tells his real-life war story, how he has lived his life since losing his legs, and being part of the cast of General Hospital.

Very happy for the actor. I always thought he would have been good with Lucas as an alternative to Brad.
