YES!!! I will be hoping he comes back to GH!!!

Yes… I am excited that he has work and that he is excited about his return to Y&R!!!

Yes… I am excited that I will be able to see Tristan on a soap that I watch!!!

Happy for Tristan… sad for GH!!!

GH’s loss is Y&R’s gain….TR has a charisma and energy that belies his age, and keeps his leading man status intact! Was so wonderful to see his Aussie charm and sparkling eyes gracing the show again! Alas, his lively, cheeky presence will once more be too short-lived for us Scorpio fans…here’s hoping that Tristan shall book a return ticket to Port Charles very soon!!!!!

He is a fun guy let him be I do not see long term storyline for him on GH they have their favorites and that is ok he was great from a great era maybe it is time to move on! I am hoping they write good story for him it would be nice to see a mature guy go toe to toe with Jack & Victor!

Thank for listening Y&R

Wish he wasn’t leaving GH. I can understand why the Colin character might be more appealing to Tristan, he will always be Roberrt Scorpio to me. Would have been nice if GH had more notice of his plans, but guess that is show business!

I agree!! I happen to think that Anna & Robert are far more dynamic a team and have great chemistry vs. Anna & Duke. Plus. Robert has ties to GH with Robin, Mac, Luke, etc … so wish GH could have written him a meaty storyline to keep him on and make him feel challenged in his role so he wouldn’t have to jump to Y&R again.

Since I’ve been watching Y&R, I will be interested to see what Colin will be up to when he returns; however I will miss seeing Robert in action on GH even more. Either way I wish Tristan all the best & hope he will return to GH again in the not too distant future!

Yay! Love that Colin is coming back to YR.

Tristan I am so very very sorry that you were leaving General Hospital. But I wish you the very best of luck on in your new role. I only watch my three soaps one life to live, all my children, and GH so unfortunately I won’t be seeing you. Hope someday you will return at least to guess as Robert. You are fabulous is Robert I love him and love you. I’m sure the GH duo did not give you enough to do and that’s why you left. But they did keep Robert as himself and the little you were given to do was fabulous.

I just feel like crying. I love him so much, it’s just not fair, we just got him back and he’s gone again because Y&R/CBS stole him. I would always want him back as Robert Scorpio because he’s the best character but I’d watch him as Colin.

This is BULLSHIT!!!! I LOVE HIM ON GH!!! I LIKE HIM ON Y & R!!! HE BELONGS ON GH!!! I’M REALLY MAD HE’S LEAVING GH!!! HOPEFULLY HE WILL COME BACK!!!

I love TR. To me, he will always be Robert Scorpio. However, I understand the realities of the biz and I only wish him the best. I hope to see him back on GH soon!

its nice to hear young and restless do something right for a change

I am sad to see robert Scorpio leaving GH Again. He is finally back to his old self again doing exciting adventures with Anna to save his daughter Robin. I am guessing that GH couldn’t offer him a long term contract and maybe YR has done that. It seems that ABC’s budget for GH doesn’t allow for these actors they are bringing back from the past to be on for very long or very often. And they, as actors, need to make a living. I will miss Tristan Rogers and his Robert Scorpio character and hope that he will be able to come back at some later time.

totally!

I’m 43 years old and it’s pretty safe to say that I’ve watched a lot of tv in my time….but there is something about the character of Robert Scorpio that keeps me wanting more all of these years later. I’ve taken a break for years at a time from GH…but have always returned when Tristan returned…hoping to see the character a little older…but true to form. I’ve always been disappointed in the writing of the character, his history, and his relationship to his family (Night Shift /Sri Rao excluded). FINALLY it seems that he is being written with history and character in mind…FINALLY it SEEMS that we’re getting him in a REAL story…not a glorified cameo…FINALLY it seems that our voices are being heard…and then we are told that he’s leaving…AGAIN. I was hoping he was coming home for a good looong stay. I’m EXTREMELY disappointed…I’m not sure what happened…But honestly…it has taken the wind out of my sails for the Robin story. I’m sure others feel the same way. I think it’s called a buzzkill. I’m not sure who to be mad at…maybe somebody…maybe nobody. But this Scorpio fan is exhausted…I’m getting off this roller coaster ride that SOMEBODY keeps putting me on….I wish Tristan good luck on YR. I hope he knows just how much Robert Scorpio has meant to so many. That’s why it hurts so much when he leaves GH. Maybe this story will give the satisfaction that Scorpio fans have been so desperately waiting for…then again…maybe not. I guess we’ll find out.

I noticed Tristan didn’t trash Ron or Frank, I guess he is keeping all his options open just in case the fans hate Colin again. Tristan does not have the chemistry with Jess Walton that he has with Finola, so I would not be shocked if we see Robert return to Port Charles sometime in the late spring. And when he DOES return put the man on contract!!!

i agree with u! Robert is what made gh fun and exciting especially with Anna and Robin! hope GH pays him more and keeps him on the show they can get rid of some other actors that dont know how to act! ABC HAS GREAT RATINGS SO U KNOW THEY CAN KEEP ALL OUR GREAT SOAP ACTORS ON GH!

Tristan is a class act. He’ll always be best known and loved as Robert Scorpio but who can blame him for going to Y&R on contract. Moreover, who can blame CBS for taking advantage of the incredibly poorly managed and financially strapped team at GH. Hope to see him back in his marquis role but also feeling disheartened at the hits that just keep coming to us long-time GH fans.

With or without Scorpio GH remains highly entertaining…he left before…he can always return.

Tristan seems to be a freelancer, contract free, to go wherever he wants to be..
He will eventually return to GH when his Y&R character starts to bore him, he will move on..

I like him best as Robert Scorpio, a hard hitting gut..
As for Jill’s pet Collin, heh not so exciting ..

GH is always exciting, Y&R is very low key and become boring very quickly..

As for Jill’s pet Collin, heh not so exciting ..

if you recall… Colin… didn’t want his true identity revealed…

and.. lo and behold… TR was let go…

this time around…. I’m hoping… TR’ Colin ‘ takes command… and mans up

as I know he can.

during his last appearance… it was laugh out loud giddy for Jill… as the queen of mean… was feeling her goodies … all her emanations.. were woman..

it was palpable.. that this twosome… were winning in the LOVE thing – and were ready to conquer

Everyone needs to calm down. Tristan has come and gone from GH countless times over the years, so I’m sure he’ll be back again. I wish they were able to get him on contract at GH, but maybe he doesn’t wanna be tied down to a contract. He seems to like being free to come and go. Who knows. But it’s definitely not the end of the world. It’s not like he’s gone forever. No one is ever gone forever in the soap world.

I just hope they’re able to have the happy ending of Robert and Anna finally reuniting with Robin, and tie up that story once and for all, before Tristan leaves the show. If they can give the fans that, then I’ll be happy.

I don’t believe Robert and Anna will have closure, not this time around, but maybe;

Quote from RC;
”The revelation that Rogers is exiting Port Charles, when he has been appearing on General Hospital as a part of Robin’s return storyline, shocked GH’s head writer Ron Carlivati, who took to Twitter last night and admitted,
— “Guys, I had no idea @tristanrogers was leaving. I found out last night. I now have 1 day to write him out of a big Feb Sweeps storyline. Meanwhile, you will see a lot of Robert between now and February! ”

After all this time to finally have Tristan back, only to leave again? This sucks. I will always love the character, Robert Scorpio. I am getting tired of coming’s and going’s. so, if you are leaving, then go. Do not come back!! I stopped watching before I will do it again soon. YR can keep you this time!!

I was really looking forward to the Robin reunion with all her family. Sorry they allowed you to get away. Can’t blame you if it was over the contract, They put Luke and Sonny on contract, and they are two who were on so much I shut the show off. I guess its the same way it would be for anyone, better job, more money being wanted and appreciated you have to do what you need to do. Food, pension, a roof over your family’s head. best to you. Y&R is a show I refuse to watch no matter who is on it.Sorry. Just when this show was getting good, they ruin it for themselves. No blame just understanding.

I AGREE WITH U 100%, ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY!

love tristen wish he would stay in general hospital I miss him he’s my favorite actor hope he’ll come back soon please a friend always really a good actor and mist him with annna devane

General Hospital needs to keep the best actors on the show for us fans to keep on watching and give them great ratings! I am 45 yrs old now, i grow up watching the soaps with my mother and now my children watch it that means a lot to us that we get to see our new generation watching GH for a long time. Robert needs to stay on GH!! young and the restless is hopeless! It is not worth watching! gh all the way with ROBERT AND ANNA!!

I THOUGHT ABC HAS THE BEST RATINGS?? THEN WHY IS IT THAT OUR GREAT ACTOR ROBERT IS LEAVING GH! KEEP OUR BEST ACTOR AND REMOVE THE ONES WHO DONT KNOW HOW TO ACT IF IT IS ALL ABOUT MONEY! ROBERT U ARE GREAT ON GH, WE LOVE YOU ALWAYS ON GH!

Beyond the Gates and General Hospital ratings

Things continue to look up, up, up for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates. Now, in the latest Nielsen ratings picture, that 15-time Daytime Emmy nominated drama has moved into the #3 spot over legendary soap opera, General Hospital in the key women’s demos, 18-49 and 25-54.

In addition, according to data from Soap Opera Network, Beyond the Gates is closing the gap on General Hospital, even among total viewers. Let’s take a look at the week in question which are reflected in the latest ratings report.

For the week of October 5-9, 2026, Beyond the Gates is inching closer to an average of 1.8 million viewers tuning-in with the ratings week at 1,756,000. While down slightly from the previous week by -9,000, the series taped in Atlanta, is still up year-over-year +161,000.

BEYOND THE GATES

As for the all-important demos, Beyond the Gates delivered a 0.22 ratings share in women 18-49, which is up +0.02 week-over-week, while General Hospital fell to fourth place in ratings share for the demo with 0.21, which was on par from the previous week. Then, in women 25-54, Beyond the Gates scored a 0.32 ratings share; that’s 0.05 points more than GH who came in with 0.27 of the ratings share and up + 0.02 week-over-week.

So, what had viewers tuning-in to Beyond the Gates the week of October 5-9 2026? For starters: Hayley Lawson Hamilton’s (Marquita Goings) blackmail plot falls apart as Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis) and Joey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) intervene to stop her in her tracks. Meanwhile, Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson) proposed to Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) in the Big Apple.

In addition, Smitty (Mike Manning) refused to participate in Martin’s (Brandon Claybon) upcoming political press conference due to liability concerns, and Andre (Sean Freeman) confronted Dani (Karla Mosley) about her near-death experience the night of the tornado and what it has to do with her ex-husband, Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett)!

GENERAL HOSPITAL

Over in Port Charles and General Hospital, the ratings week saw a slight uptick in total viewers of +6,000 with a total viewer average at 1,898,000, and up overall +20,o0o year-over-year.

In story, GH brought viewers, ADA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) breaking off her secret romance with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) as she seemingly struggles to believe his professed innocence in the prison beatdown of Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota). Then as Sonny cannot get a single person to believe that he is telling the truth, his ex-wife, Carly (Laura Wright) shows up and stands by his side.

Elsewhere, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase’s (Brook Lynn) marriage continued to crumble, as Lulu (Alexa Havins) published explosive allegations that Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison), after recording Sidwell in his hospital room, who later denies he said anything about Willow and Drew to Lulu.

As per usual, the number #1 and number #2 soaps of the week were The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful. The sister soaps also saw the gap close between the two for the top spots with Y&R adding the most viewers for the week with both soaps losing the most viewers for the ratings period.

In total viewers, Y&R came in with 3,015,000 while B&B 2,628,000, which means there is less than 400,000 viewers separating the two.

So, what do you think of how Beyond the Gates outperformed General Hospital in the key demos for the week of October 5-9, 2026? Do you think its just a matter of time before Beyond the Gates overtakes General Hospital in total viewers for the #3 spot, or do you think the iconic daytime drama series can stave them off and maintain its hold on #3 in the viewership? Weigh-in via the comment section.

Y&R’s Beth Maitland Talks How Traci Gives ‘A Lot of Viewers a Voice,’ and Daytime Emmy Nomination 41 Years After Her Emmy Win

Published

By

Beth Maitland

This week, The Young and the Restless veteran, Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott) is vying for her second gold statuette at the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards some 41 years later after winning the CBS soap’s first acting award ever back in 1985.

That year, Maitland took home the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series Award making Y&R history as the first performer to ever have her name called. A little bit later in the ceremonies, Tracey Bregman took home Y&R’s second Emmy for the Outstanding Ingenue.

Fast-forward to 2026, and Maitland, who has appeared on the soap both on contract and recurring since 1982, has been on the series now for over 44 years. Over the weekend, Traci talked with good friend Lawrence Zarian for a segment on KTLA Morning News.

HOW TRACI REPRESENTS WOMEN ACROSS AMERICA

Maitland discussed how Traci has evolved over the years, where now she is the voice of reason for the Abbott family, and where more often than not, characters come to her with their issues.

“Aunt Traci is who everyone comes to with their problems, and what it’s taught me is to really take that seriously. I represent women of a certain age. I represent women over a certain dress size, and I feel it gives a lot of America and a lot of viewers a voice,” expressed Maitland, adding playing the role, “Really is meaningful to me.”

It was back in 1985 that Beth’s name was called as the winner of the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama  at the Daytime Emmys besting the likes of: Norma Connelly (ex-Ruby, General Hospital), Eileen Herlie (ex-Myrtle, All My Children), Maeve Kinkaid (ex-Vanessa, Guiding Light) and Elizabeth Lawrence (ex-Myra, All My Children).

FIRST DAYTIME EMMY WIN WAS ONE FOR THE Y&R RECORD BOOKS

Recalling what happened after hearing her name called 41 years ago, Maitland reflected, “It was a Cinderella moment. I was so stunned. I was in the company of mature actresses who had been doing daytime for decades and I was this absolute newbie”

She also remembered, “Honestly, I was so nervous I walked right out of my shoe going up the stairs at the Waldorf-Ast0ria on live television. That’s what I remember. I was absolutely overwhelmed, absolutely unexpected, and it was a really important moment in my young career. I never expected it, not in a million years and here we are again!”

2026 DAYTIME EMMY NOMINATION

Speaking of vying for the same prize 41 years later, Beth is nominated for her work in the Traci and Alan/Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins) storyline which featured Traci’s love life blowing up in her face amid deceit and twins!

This year, Maitland is nominated alongside of: Linsey Godrey (Sarah, DAYS), Amanda Setton (Brook Lynn, GH), Trisha Mann-Grant (Leslie, BTG) and Camryn Grimes (Mariah, Y&R).

Maitland shared on the moment she learned she was in the running:  “I am absolutely flabbergasted. I’m in the company of amazing actresses, all these years later, but mostly I am honored to be a part of the daytime community. It’s a place in a world gone mad, people can tune-in and forget their problems for just a few minutes, laugh and cry, and take a break for a second and escape for the moment. To still be a part of that almost 45 years later, I never thought I would be here and I could not be more grateful.”

So, is Aunt Traci one of your favorite legacy characters of The Young and the Restless? Are you happy to see Beth included 41 years later after her first Emmy win in the Supporting Actress category at this year’s 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards? Let us know via the comment section.
