On Monday, actor Tyler Johnson took to Twitter to let his followers and fans of CBS’ The Young and the Restless know that he is out as Theo Vanderway.

Johnson joined the cast back in 2019, as a not-so-good friend to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) while they were living in New York City.  Later, Theo was revealed to be the grandson of Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams).

In his first tweet on his exit, Tyler posted: “That’s all folks!!”  That was followed by: “I’ve always been an optimist. Today isn’t an end, but a new beginning. Thank you to everyone tuned in to watch “Theo Vanderway”- it was all a blast. The future is bright. Love you all.”

No word yet on Johnson’s last airdate in this developing story.

So shocked to hear that Tyler will no longer be part of the cast of Y&R? Comment below.

Just as today’s episode was getting good, he leaves!

yes, i know yesterday was up and coming,

I am so sad to hear this. I really loved Theo with Lola. He was a bright ray of sunshine….a prince charming….

I thought it was weird the way Lola and Theo were hot and cold.

Bad move, wrong to let Theo go. Let Noah stay where he is. He really did care for Lola. The family treated him wrong. Hope he will leave with a good story line to wipe that smug look off of Kyle’s face

OMG!!

Biggest mistake Young and Restless have ever made. There are some other “stars” that would not be missed but this guy made the show fun was from the first day. My daughter and I have wondered if he would have a good story line. Sorry you didn’t give him one. We thought he might get a pretty big inheritance from the will and trouble would begin then. Lola seems to have a boring role and a few others. Heard you were going to bring back Noah and he didn’t add anything to the show. The show has definitely done him wrong. He deserved more as he is an excellent actor.

Biggest mistake? That is a Goddamn stretch.

I agree, I will definitely miss him. Wonderful actor. Should of given him a better storyline.

ITA! I was hoping him and Lola 🙁

“Made the show”? Made the show worse you mean. They could have done more but didn’t. Theo was always swarmy.

Don’t let the door hit you in the butt.

I have never liked him. Glad he’s gone.

I was surprised how things went with Lola and Theo.

thumbs up.

Never liked him either

Sorry to see you go. You could have been a thorn in Kyle’s side for a long time to come. Especially if you got Lola pregnant.

I did not like the character initially, but he’s grown on me. There are still storyline possibilities for Theo IMO. After Kyle walked out of the memorial celebration because everyone followed Theo’s lead in dancing etc. put me right on Team Theo. In the meantime, they bring on new young characters which are not needed IMO – and Theo DOES have the Abbott connection. Disappointing decision.

I’m not surprised by this news. Given that spoilers have stated that Theo would be going after $$ in an illegal way after Dina’s death, the writing was on the wall.

Peace out!
…now bring back a younger male actor who actually belongs on the canvas with ties, like Noah or Fenn as played by the previous actors Robertson and Zach Tinker.
Big wish list would also include sending Mariahs singer gf off and replacing her with Ana again , and also Abby and Chance with Mia and Arturo. All three actors are about as exciting as waiting for water to boil

Aw, I really liked the character and the actor had grown on me a lot. He finally seemed to have loosened up and made Theo his own. And it was exciting to think of a Kyle-Theo family feud that could last years. I truly don’t understand the decisions being made at Y&R these days.

So sorry that he is leaving. There was a lot of potential for his character. He will be missed.

Sad to hear this. Wish the writers would have had better story lines for him, he is a great asset to the show.

They gave him a sorry role to play. I like him but always wished he would change. Y&R could have made him much better. Hate to see you go because of stupid story line they gave you. You will go far.

Not a big loss. Not a problem with the actor, the writers blew it yet again. So suddenly Dina had another child with long gone Stuart Brooks (who few viewers even know who he was) and he is not living, but he has a son… Jill/Lauren went no where storyline wise…It would have been far more interesting had Theo been the young baby saved when Jack and Nici’s child died and received the transplant. The character the show should have kept was Graham, that had real potential.

Sad he is leaving I really wanted him and Lola together. Sally is gone (Y&R now) and now him. I’ll probably quit watching. Y&R watching since a high school and I’m 66 now. Hope he comes to GH.

Never liked his character.thought he’s getting ready to steal the big emerald!!

Y&R never has a villain.
Y&R is dull very dull, never a thriller.
Never high drama, just blah same old stuff.
Y&R never gives high drama, just stale.
Y&R needs a dark side to keep it intriguing.
It’s quite mushy stuff ..

SuOOO
Hey, wasn’t Ian Ward dark enough? Also I think Adam is about as dark as you can get, especially as a regular family character that makes everyone miserable, except Sharon who tries to make herself and everyone else believe she loves Rey. Yea, like a brother maybe! Wonder what will happen when he finally gets a clue, some detective, huh?

Goodbye. I never enjoyed him or his character. The only thing I did like was when he was eyeing all the jewelry the Abbots had from the teardrop emerald. That was funny.

Am sorry to see Theo off the canvas. Why create this character, tie him to the Abbotts, then just let him go? (I know, he could always return.) I like the idea of laying out the future with a lifelong Kyle-Theo rivalry in family, love, and business. I had thought Sally Spectra’s arrival would really give us an exciting pool of younger people… Kyle, Summer, Theo, Lola, Sally, Noah…

I do remain loyal to Y&R, and it does a lot right, but I could use a dynamic powerful storyline. It is likely the pandemic, but I feel Genoa City is creating silos of character groups with small groups separated from others, many 1:1 scenes, and there is a frustration for me in how some stories are resolved or played out.

Oh this is terrible news!! I was so glad he was getting better parts!!!

OK, it is almost the end of the month, why is he still here? In cahoots with Sally of course. I was hoping she would return to her original Sally, but guess she will be a bad Sally as she was when she left B&B.
