Earlier Wednesday, Deadline reported that The Young and the Restless Sofia Pernas (Marisa) was let go from the series on Monday due to budgetary cuts, and then in turn landed a new gig on the CW pilot Translyvania.

However, this evening a show spokesperson for the CBS Daytime drama series related Pernas’ status with the show, and that in fact, “She’s recurring and will continue to be seen on the show.”

This comes as good news to those who were a bit miffed by the sudden reported departure of the actress by the mainstream outlet. The Moroccan-born actress came on to Y&R during the Marco Annicelli/Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) doppelganger storyline and made her debut back in June of 2015.

So, what do you think of the updated status of Sofia with Y&R? Glad she will actually be returning on a recurring basis? Comment below!

Yes yes yes yes! I’m so happy she is not gone! She’s my favorite girl! Always will be, yay sofia!

She’ll be recurring like Lachlan Buchanan?

I’ll miss Pernas. I hope she finds great success in primetime.

There’s still hope. Kyle was changed to recurring and we practically never see him.

Too bad she’s still around, between her character and Chelsea, Y&R has become a complete bore. You have people who’ve been on the show for years doing great work and then you get these new characters getting more screen time for forgettable story lines that keep repeating. If I have to witness one more scene where Chelsea is mad at and hates Adam, but loves him and forgives 2 days later I will throw up repeatedly. How Noah conveniently falls madly in love with Marisa is uncomfortable to watch because she looks like someone who baby sat him when he was a preteen, beyond bored with these two. Having said that I hope her new job keeps her very busy.

The never ending cycle of break ups and reunions for Billy and Victoria must really make you sick.

Oh, thank you, penny!! I thought I was the only one who finds Chelsea obnoxious and hypocritical.
I don’t mind Marissa. However, I am confused by the character and her role??
Chelsea reminds me so much of Nikki. Out of the gutter and into the palace.
Suddenly, Chelsea has become this pious, model citizen, wife and mother???? How soon we forget.
She has crowned herself Adam’s parole officer, whip and all!!
I fully expect Adam to start wearing skirt and apron, with a feathery duster in his hand.

Another funny post! I think they need to do a dream sequence with Chelsea dressed as an officer with a whip on Adam! Once again, CeeCee, you are spot on!

@Ron….thanks, my friend…LOL.

I knew the ‘firing’ of Sofia was untenable….coming out of left field, like that?!
How could Marissa have left in the midst of ongoing conflict? The only choice would have been to hightail it out of the country with Noah.
As gorgeous as she is, I wish she were not with Noah……she needs a man. He still seems like a teen to me.
Good luck in her dual venture.

CEECEE that’s the very reason they up and said oops she’s recurring. .because evil JP and CP didn’t expect her to land prime time so quickly and now instead of letting her out of her contract they’ll make her miserable. If the new show is good and Y&R still has her they’ll use it to their exploitive advantage.

Of course, you’re right, dav. The PTB would do anything underhanded, wouldn’t they? Whatever is to their advantage…that’s showbiz, I guess.

I agree, that is really messed up of Y&R to say she is recurring not on contract.

Playing devil advocates here, maybe they really had her recurring before she tried for the other show???

Robert is a good guy, he has the same problem as the old Billy Abbott, David Thom, had. Even though he is a man, he still looks so my like a boy. Nice to a point but remember how silly David Thom looked in scenes with Victor saying he will fight for Victoria? Same with Noah, he looks silly next to Luca and when he talks to Grandpa he looks like he is afraid to tell him he wet his pants!

Oh, don’t get me wrong, Timmm. I like Noah/Robert a lot. That’s not the issue. Marissa is not the right pairing for him, as wasn’t David for Victoria, as you said. Byeeee.

I always thought that about Noah also. He’s very boyish.

Hey, my Timmmy,
Have you noticed how arrogantly TPTB are writing Noah in, now? He was always so mild; now, he is suddenly tempestuous….has a bad temper? Do the bosses think that by changing Noah’s persona, he will appear older?, more mature? WOW!!!! And triple LOL.
Perhaps, he’s bipolar , like his mother? HaHa. Bye.

Hadn’t heard, but wish she was gone. I don’t like her character or storyline.

Please just make her go away…disappearing accent and all!!

I know, Bart. I had commented on that, months ago. LOL. she started out with this nondescript, heavy accent; and then, lost it overnight. Baffling??
She’s a good actress….but, the character? Not with Noah…they do not make a good couple.

Oh CeeCee How I hope your wrong. Glummer & Luca. Enough already of her. She’s been on daily for a couple wks. seems like months.

@Nikki.
Ahh, Nikki. You are cracking me up. I cannot stand either of them…singly, they really give me itchy hives all over. What will they do to me together, as a couple? Lol.
Sorry to say this, my friend, but brace yourself. This is just the beginning. I may be putting my foot in my mouth, but I think something sexual/romantic is brewing between Summer and Luca.
Right now, they commiserate and confide in each other…..then, it’s straight to “Voulez-vous coucher avec moi”. LOL.

Oh, Nikki. I just had a thought. Could TPTB be contemplating a romantic interest between Luca and Victoria? Same last-name, different girl. Poor Victor, LOL.
I am not liking this Phyllis and Billy thing either.
And, what’s up with Hilary. Dreams of grandeur? Has she flipped her lid? She wants to run the town? HaHa.
GC is running amok with crazies.

I luv her on the show as long as she does not hurt Noah ,then I would not like her ♡♡♡

I am glad that she will be recurring on the show!

It was fun while it lasted!

It just shows Timmm if they can get rid of her that quickly why not Summer? There is definitely some reason to hanging on to her and it sure isn’t her wonderful acting.

Maybe she is a godchild of one of the Bells? Its weird. I dont want to attack her as a person BUT as far as the show, to me, she adds NOTHING to any of the episodes! When I see Marissa with Noah it makes me ill to think they killed off Courtney who was a much better actress/character that had lots of future angles to explore! Marissa arrives and her an Noah are sleep inducing and then Glummer is still there smirking in EVERY scene!

As I said, Nikki…we will see much more of Summer. She and Luca will be hitting the sheets soon. Oh, JOY; Oh, BOY; Oh, MY!! Victor will have another conniption.

Hey, Nikki.
Sofia is only 26, I think; and, Robert is 30. She looks older than her age and he looks younger than his real age. This fact is neither here nor there, of course. Age is trivial in soaps. The point is, Noah, as Devon, looks 12. Ergo, Devon’s facial hair. It doesn’t help. Should Noah grow a beard? These guys just have baby faces. Lol.
I remember my older brother, before he married his wife, he had a crush on an much older woman….he grew whiskers here and there…HaHa. He still looked 16. Lol.
Also, Marissa has that exotic, come hither look, soooo over the top for Noah. The same with Hilary, except that Hilary is evil and I do NOT like her.

Thank you Y&R, I love her on the show, and I was angry thinking you fired her. Please don’t let her go. Let her and Noah be a couple on the show. She is so beautiful and talented.

Who cares about the marissa character her and luca are boring

It is just hard to know whether to believe them. Several characters lately have gone on recurring and we haven’t seen them since. She is a terrific find, her story is red hot, it seems to be a very poorly thoughout decision on the part of JFP etc.

She’s a good actress, but her resting face appears to be “scowl”. Maybe it’s because she’s been saddled with such inconsistent material. I like Y&R right now, even maybe a tad more than my sentimental favorite, General Hospital.

Oh, what a shame. I was hoping that she would be gone for good. She’s so boring, and looks too old for Noah. Noah looks like a schoolboy from the 40’s, especially with that awful haircut he has. All he needs now are the short grey pants to go with his hair. He’s boring too, so is Devon, Neil, Hillary and Summer. I agree with Penny (above), Chelsea is always upset with Adam, and interferes with his work business. She needs to get a life and concentrate on something else. Adam needs somebody who will support him in whatever he does.

I too tired of Chelsea being mad at Adam all the time. Hope that has stopped. Don’t like this he’ll be working/commuting from Chicago.

Liked the character when she was introduced as a badass and then, as seems to be common with the current writing regime, the character changed into a whimp. Couldn’t care less if she was gone……and takes Noah with her.

This show needs to cut alot of its dead weight — Marissa, Luca, Summer, Sage, NuBilly, Dylan, Stitch/Max, the list goes on and on.

the list goes on and on but its a good start! Stitch and Summer being at the top!

Lovely actress but I think Y&R can dispense with all things connected with that horrible Jack Abbot doppelganger storyline. Am weary of middleagers involved with baby switches. And that Sharon is dealing with it AGAIN! I would like a strong NEW family to come to Genoa City a la the Abbotts and Newmans circa 1980. Make them interesting, create enough of them, and do not tie them to current canvas with revisionist history. Some of the stories are beyond boring, making some of our characters beyond stupid. It is difficult to watch some of them struggle.

Yes, it would be just what is needed. There are too many almost incestuous connections. Don’t mean to drop the entire cast because I love the show like family, but don’t always like it. However, I cannot stand to watch anymore Neal, Devon, Hillary storylines.

I am with you, Tani. I do not like what has been done to Neil Winters. he was a decent man. They made him and Devon unlikable. And this affair of the hearts has gone on too long. I just do not care anymore.

They brought Courtney along slowly. She was a good actress and her and Noah worked as a couple. She came from money. They could have written in her family and the two families could have been introduced together not approving of their kids dating. Well, they blew THAT opportunity! But I agree, they need new powerhouse. I loved Jeanne Cooper but when they killed her off they killed the Chancelor name! So now its all Newman and Abbott stories. No wonder why Stitch gets to sleep with all the hot chicks!

Timmm I don’t think they killed Jeanne Cooper (Kay Chancelor) off I think I remember she passed away in real life. She was with the show for so long I don’t think they wanted to replace her. It would be like replacing Victor Newman.

Timmm/Nikki,
This is why I sooo believe that Mac should be brought back. I never felt the love between Devon and Catherine. Never saw the affinity between grandchild and grandmother. What Catherine and Mac shared was undefinable; true affection. I think Mac should continue the legacy, not Devon; who is making a mockery of himself and what the Chancellor name represents.

LOVE SOFIA!

So gorgeous….so exotic looking, she is, Samantha.
Love her acting, as well. I just wish she were paired with someone else. I know Robert is older than Sofia, but, how old is his character Noah supposed to be. He certainly does not look 30 to me. He looks much younger.

CeeCee…oh, yes…oh, how I W-I-S-H that Y&R would (and should) bring Mac back!!!!! Oh…and HIGH-FIVES ALL AROUND about that idiotic Devon!!!!! My dear, I (also) cannot stand Hilary…but…Devon works my nerves A L-O-T MORE!!!!! BEYOND BLAH!!!!!!!

Later, my friend.

I’d love to DATE Sofia but I dont want her on Y&R!

Good Luck, babes. You got lots of money? Either that or devastatingly good looks. LOL. If you have both, then, you’ve got it made. Let me know!!
Kidding, my Timmmy. You’re such a nice guy; all you need is yourself…Awwwww!!

Yes I am glad she is staying.

good ,i’m glad ,I like her,

Timmm I think so as well. I know she isn’t old but Noah looks like a teenager. I loved Courtney as well and it would have been such a great story had they hung on to Detective Harding as well. I thought he had a crush on Courtney and Noah seemed a little jealous of their working relationship. They had a perfect triangle and had to ruin it. Now their doing the same thing with Luca. There going to stick him with Glummer and they should have had him with Mariah. I can just imagine how Kevin would feel especially since he kept teasing Mariah with the computer geek. Glummer must be a cousin or something to someone higher up since she keeps getting front burner roles. I just get so angry that we never see the greats anymore (JILL, LAUREN, MARIAH, MICHAEL ETC.) just to name a few.

Nikki, I just said this but its worth repeating and elaborating, killing off Katherine was a big mistake! When Katherine left the show you lost Jill, Tucker, Ester, Murphy, Nina, Mac, Phillip and Katherine was a “Grandmother” to the younger characters who would seek her advice. For example, Chloe and Kevin. Her BFF Nicki has no one to turn to and even Jack and Victor had a special relationship with Katherine. Oh, Paul, Michael and Lauren. Whew, you get my point! All the respect in the world to Jeanne BUT you have to put the show first! Case in point, ALL things on the show revolve around Victor, if Eric Braeden suddenly died I guarantee you they would search high and low for a new Victor. Later Nikki.

Timmm I think we’ll have to agree to disagree on that one. If E.B.(Victor) died they would need someone who could play the villain but I think he could easily be replaced with Ray Wise (Ian Ward). as in if they let Ian out of jail or he escaped he would be after the whole Newman family not to mention Phyllis (who he tricked) which would bring Jack into it and now we’re back to the Newman’s & the Abbott’s. Don’t you agree? Mind you I think ole Victor thinks the show would go under without him.

Nikki, I LOVE Ray Wise and welcome him back but he is not a NEWMAN! I would hope Ian gets out of jail and kills Phyllis for her betrayal. But you need a Victor on the show because he connects the dots. Same with Katherine, she was the focal point of so many characters. I hate that she gave Devon all that money. For what? He has been a complete fool and you NEVER see him pay his respects to Kathrine!

I have enjoyed this actress on the show! She been a great light and all to the show, I hate to see her be let go, what are they thinking? We need minorities and now she’s been thrown to recurring status, WAKE UP Y&R

I’m glad they kept her, I like her, she is so pretty

I think her character is a snore fest and the less we see of her and more of the core characters is fine by me. Good luck in Transylvania.

And can this new head writer actually conclude a plot line? That would be refreshing. No wonder so many of his previous shows have failed. Just sayin’!

they had to bump her due to budgetary constraints?
is the budget the reason every scene takes place now either at crimson lights, gcac or top of the tower? its so sad… we havent seen the newman ranch in a year, the abbot home in months, the baldwins home is long forgotten, every bedroom scene takes place in the gcac hotel room. y n r broke? how about lily and cane let go to trim budget, zero story for them, its so tired

That recent boardroom scene was an embarrassment. I’ve seen bigger tables in a studio apartment!

Ha ha ha so true!

Penny and I agree; Chelsea needs stop hounding Adam. It wears on my nerves ; so, I just fast forward through her scenes. Plus, I don’t like Marissa, either.

Bring back the Fosters and the Brooks already and stop with this revolving door of annually unrelated interlopers

I think the actress is okay, but I don’t like the pairing of Marissa and Noah. She’s much to sophisticated for him. He’s an innocent little boy. Maybe she likes him because he’s problably the only male friend that’s treated her well.

Innocent little boy?

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

Patrick J. Gibbons

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.

However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.

Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG

Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!

Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”

MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL

Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).

Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

Photo: JPI

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY

Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”

It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”

A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

Photo: PGibbons

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS

As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”

He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”

Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.

So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.

‘Guiding Light’s’ Grant Aleksander Shares Heartfelt Remembrance of TV Daughter, Hayden Panettiere On What Would Have Been Her 37th Birthday

Published

The tragic death of Hayden Panettiere last Sunday on August 21 continues to rock the entertainment world as her passing is still under investigation. Sadly, the former Guiding Light and Nashville star, died just days before her 37th birthday.

Now Grant Aleksander who played her on-screen father, Phillip Spaulding on Guiding Light a role he played on and off for nearly 30 years,  shared a touching tribute with The Locher Room via Instagram, to his former TV daughter on her birthday on Friday, August 21.

It was back in 1996-2000 that Panettiere played the role of Phillip and Beth’s (Beth Chamberlin) daughter, Lizzie Spaulding. When Hayden was on-screen her performances were outstanding even as a little girl.

Photo: CBS

Aleksander began, When I think of Hayden the first image that comes is of her running down the hall in the studio with a huge, toothy grin on her face. Literally bursting with joy. And that’s what she gave to us. Pure, infectious joy. That and a talent that belied her years.”

“She was a natural with an instinctive understanding of acting that most adult actors can only dream of possessing. But that’s not what I’ll remember most about her. It’s that sunshine she brought to all of us that were lucky enough to be in her orbit that will stay with me, expressed Grant.

He concluded with, “I’ll always cherish the years I got to be her tv Dad. I wish I could have seen her one more time just to tell her how proud I was of her. She’s left us way too soon. We can only hope that she’s finally found the peace that eluded her in her short life. Rest in peace Princess!”

Michael Fairman TV previously shared emotional tributes from many of Hayden’s co-stars here, plus Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky, GH and ex-Avery, Nashville) who wrote a beautiful tribute to his former co-star.

So, do you remember the scenes between a young Lizzie and Phillip on Guiding Light? What did you think of Grant Aleksander’s words? Let us know via the comment section below. Here’s just a sampling below, of how great Hayden was with her scene partner, Grant.
