Daytime favorite, Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo (Ex- Brenda Corinthos) of General Hospital, has filed for divorce from husband, Carmine Giovinazzo of CSI: NY fame!
According to TMZ.com and sources, the talented and beautiful star filed documents against her husband in L.A. Superior Court, citing, “Irreconcilable differences.”
Vanessa and Carmine were married in 2010, and is asking Carmine to pay her attorney’s fees. She’s also asking the court to award her spousal support. Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo had a child, Kassius in 2002 from her previous marriage to 90210’s Brian Austin Green.
On-Air On-Soaps hopes thing work out for Vanessa!
That’s too bad. 🙁
I remember when she was all excited to be expecting a baby with him and then suffered a miscarriage. That must take a toll on a marriage.
I forgot about that. More often than not, couples separate after such a tragedy. 🙁
Interesting that she wants him to pay for attorney fees and spouse support. Wondering if he is to blame for the marriage not working and “irreconcilable differences” is a nice way of saying “it’s all his fault”. LOL! Surely she’s not so poor she can’t afford attorney fees and her own support otherwise. If not, come back to GH, Vanessa. We love you on there (when they write well for your character). 🙂
God no…never, never bring Brenda back. She had failed every time.
As a volunteer at a daytime charity event several years back I met Vanessa and she was such a BITCH so if her attitude that day is any indication of the way she is in everyday life, She is probably at fault in this divorce & Carmine who I hope does NOT have to pay any kind of spousal support is LUCK to get her Out of his Life!!
My name is Ann too, lol.
But maybe she was just having a bad day? I’ve never heard someone say she treated them badly, in fact just the opposite, that she is very sweet and caring. We all moments we’re not proude of but I don’t think this is in general her attitude. She seems to be loved by the GH cast and other people who worked with her. We can’t get along with everyone.
But I’m disappointed that one woman would judge another woman’s marriage and say it was her fault, especially when you don’t know these people. She suffered two miscarriages in the past year. WE don’t know what went wrong with their marriage. But to just blame her out of hand because you met her once and she wasn’t as nice as you thought she should be? That’s too bad.
THANK YOU……I have always thought of her as a flake. Brenda Brenda Brensa. Big Deal. Never thought she was much of an actor, nor cared for character. Please, TPTB DO NOT consider bringing her back. Am loving the Sonny/Kate storyline. Truly feel that Vanessa/Brenda needs to get a grip….JMO
I love Brenda. She’s my favorite. I loathe the Sonny/Kate storyline. She’s awful and they’re awful together, imo. So I am waiting for the day for her to return.
I truly don’t understand why she has to “get a grip.” Because she’s divorcing her husband? I’m confused. But anyway. Can’t wait for her to return.
I am so sorry to hear that. Positive thoughts to her as she works through it. <3
I am pretty certain that Ron and Frank would write her a MUCH better story than the last regime if given the chance.
Shocking since last I heard they wanted a baby together. Too bad it didn’t work out. She doesn’t seem to have much love luck.
Actually she is not asking for spousal support if you read the divorce papers. Eonline showed the papers and said she is not asking for the spousal support.
In any event, I’m very sorry for her and her husband. She’s had a rough year. She is beautiful and very sweet. And yes, I will actually watch General Hospital again if she comes back, LOL. But beyond that, I wish her well.
I thought I read somewhere else that she was asking that Carmine not get spousal support. She doesn’t want to pay him. So reading the opposite here was confusing.
If you look at the divorce papers, no, she is not asking for spousal support.
Obviosly money IS a problem for her, because not too long ago she made the headlines for bortowing a huge amount of money from Brian Autin Green, her babys dadfy and not paying any of it back. He finally sued her to get her to acknowlege the debt. Guess she thought it was a gift! She doesnt appear to be sucessful with men or money, just acting which she doesnt seem to do anymore.
I think it’s really sad that you feel it necessary to talk like this about someone just because they’re going through a divorce. And yes, Vanessa apparently did believe it was a gift that was given to her by her baby’s father while they were still together and a family. YOu have no idea what this woman is going through in her private life.
Brian said is his interview that she neefed the money and took ir from him as a loan, LOAN meaing I will pay it back, not gift as in its mine and I dont owe u anything. He would not sue for a return of a gift. No., I dont know her personally although I have met her. I just sit back and watch the results of her publicized life.
I met Vanessa several years back and she was very humble and lovely to me and my friend. She was on Vegas at the time and remembered GH fondly. She was certainly proud of her Daytime roots. Vanessa came from a home of domestic violence and that’s not an easy blueprint to carry through to adulthood. I’m happy for her success in her craft and wish her many more successes.
That’s what I’ve always heard about her, how sweet she is. And she does so much with charity. And yes, she is always very humble and respects daytime television greatly. I’ve never seen an ex-GH castmember who goes out of their way to pimp the show and the medium like she does. Hope she’s doing okay and will love it if she comes back to General Hospital. Sonny and Brenda were one of the best daytime couples ever, and I can’t imagine this show ending without a sub-par pairing like Skate over S&B.
I just want her to have good writing. But also don’t want her to come back until she’s ready. She’s been through alot.
That’s such a shock, but suffering two miscarriages I’m sure can seep into one’s marriage. I wish her and her soon-to-be ex the happiness in the world that they deserve.
It’s sad when any marriage breaks up. I hope their child comes through it okay. I also hope that she does NOT return to GH. The character is not what is once was and that’s not a good thing.
I myself grew up in ahome with an abusive, violent parent so I can empathize with her and the pain she must be experiencing along with her husband and her sons.God help them through this unhappy time and help them to heal.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Would You Be Down With a Dante and Elizabeth Romance?
On the Friday, May 15 episode of General Hospital, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) shared a heartfelt talk on trauma. Dante is so concerned for Rocco (Finn Carr), and how it affects someone for the rest of their life, which is something Elizabeth knows all too well, but got through it.
It all begins when Elizabeth shows up at Dante’s office ready for her date with Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst). How beautiful she looked did not go unnoticed by Dante. When the talked turned to how Dante told Rocco that he knew his son shot Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), he admits he is scared for his child, because he lost his innocence with the emotional baggage he now must carry forever of shooting someone.
Dante notices how Rocco is becoming more and more withdrawn and he wants to know how to help him. Elizabeth bring up how she can absolutely relate to trauma at a young age, just like Rocco. However for Elizabeth, her trauma came in the form of a brutal rape by Tom Baker. Speaking from experience, Elizabeth details that it was her friends and family like Lucky and Bobbie who helped pull her through. She encourages Dante to continue to show up and be there as support for his son.

SPECIAL DELIVERY
Next, an officer delivers to Dante the evidence from the pier shooting, which Dante plans on destroying. Before she leaves for her date with Ric, Liz reassured Dante he is doing the right thing to protect Rocco and she has done the same. She has left no record of Rocco’s hospital visit the night of the shooting. Liz leaves for her date.
THE WRONG SUSPECT
Then, Cullum storm troops in to Dante’s office demanding the evidence that the PCPD must have collected at the site of his shooting. Dante says that the evidence must be misfiled in the warehouse, but they will find it. However, Cullum realizes Dante is stalling and lying. Before heading to Dante’s office, Cullum paid a visit to Carly (Laura Wright) and saw a photo of Danny with Jason, triggering him to now believe that Danny may have been the person who shot him in the back on the pier!

DINING WITH RIC
At dinner at Café Cherie, Ric handed Elizabeth the folder with the priceless piece of artwork he’d purchased for her through Ava. Elizabeth loved it and went over to Ric and planted a kiss on him.
Will GH move Elizabeth into a romance with Dante? Do you think Liz and Dante make a cute couple? After today’s episode, it’s clear they very much like and admire one another. If so, what happens to Liz and Ric’s burgeoning repeat romance? Share your thoughts and picks via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Dante Tells Rocco He Knows He Shot Cullum and Will Protect Son
In well-played scenes on the Thursday, May 14 episode of General Hospital, Dante (Dominic Zampogna) finally had a talk with his son, Rocco (Finn Carr) informing him that he knows the teen shot Cullum (Andrew Hawkes).
Rocco has dreaded his father finding out, because he is the acting police commissioner of the Port Charles PD and feared his dad will have to arrest him for the crime.
Dante asks Rocco in his own words to recount what happened the night on the pier. He assured his son, he is not going to arrest him and noted there are very extenuating circumstances surrounding the crime.

FATHER AND SON
Rocco explained how he followed Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) to the pier. Then, how Cullum attacked Britt. Jason (Steve Burton) showed up and fought with Cullum and how the gun came loose. He remembers the other weapon Cullum pulled out to kill Jason and that’s when he shot him.
Next, Dante explained that he was proud of his son for saving Jason and Britt’s lives. He also tells Rocco that he is very concerned in Britt’s involvement in all of this stemming all the way back to the Five Poppies, and feels she is still tied into everything that is happening.
Dante tells Rocco that nobody else can know about this involvement in the shooting. He also touchingly said, that he is his father, he will protect him. However, Rocco is worried that if the truth came out that he shot Cullum, his dad would be in serious trouble for covering up a crime. Dante tells Rocco, he should not worry about that right now, but he needs to stay in Port Charles so he and his mom can keep him safe.
A SHOCKING CALL
Suddenly, as father and son hug it out, Dante gets a call from Justine (Nazneen Contractor), alerting him to the fact that she just met with Cullum and he is looking for the evidence and the file from his shooting. Dante rolls his eyes, knowing things are about to go from bad to worse, and how is he going to keep his son safe from the evil WSB Director?
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Dominic Zamprogna always delivers a nice counterbalance to the often histrionics of other characters in Port Charles in his portrayal of Dante Falconeri. So that, when Dante breaks or gets emotional, it counts. Finn Carr has continually shined in the storyline as Rocco continues to teeter on the edge of knowing what he has done and being wracked with guilt. Next up has to be Danny learning his brother is the reason Jason was carted away. Stay tuned!
So, what did you think of the scenes between Dante and Rocco? How on earth will Dante keep Rocco safe? Share your thoughts via the comment section.

‘General Hospital’s’ Jonathan Bennett Knew He Hit the ‘Jackpot’ With New Role as Joe Fitzpatrick
First-look photos of Jonathan Bennett’s new General Hospital role of PCPD officer Joe Fitzpatrick have been released, given GH fans a glimpse of what’s to come when the character makes his debut on Monday’s upcoming May 18 episode.
Bennett is coming home to ABC soap operas, after beginning his career as All My Children’s JR Chandler some 25 years ago. The actor/host/producer shared that returning to the rigors of a daytime drama was not on his “bingo” card. However, the minute he heard about the role, there was no question in his mind, he was going to go in, read for it, and make it his!
In preview of his upcoming debut, Jonathan spoke with TV Insider, where he detailed his feelings on playing Joe, “I feel like I hit the jackpot when this opportunity came because the character is something that I really wanted to play. I’ve never read something where I was like, ‘I have to do it,’ and when I read this, I called my agent and said, ‘I’m playing this character.’”
KNEW THIS ROLE WAS FOR ME
Confident that he would nab the role, he clearly was the choice of GH executive producer Frank Valentini too, with whom, Bennett shared is one of the reasons he couldn’t wait to step into the world of Port Charles, “I was very excited to work with the best of the best, like Frank Valentini. He’s a legend.”
The Hallmark Channel and Food Network staple also shared that once his casting was announced, the reaction he received, doubled-down his decision that being on General Hospital and playing Joe Fitzpatrick was the right move at this time in his career and his life.
“The outpouring of love from just the announcement made me really emotional. I was driving home, talking to my husband, and I started having tears roll down my face. It just feels so good to go somewhere where you’re so loved and you feel so supported before you even start. It felt like a weight was taken off my shoulders. I just was like, ‘Oh, this is exactly where I’m supposed to be.’”

PREVIEW CLIP
In an exclusive clip released to PEOPLE.com on Friday, May 15, GH fans can get their first real glimpse of Bennett in the role of Joe Fitzpatrick. In the scene at the PCPD, Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) asks, “Hey, dispatcher. What’s the story with this arrest?” To which Joe responds, “A call came in from the maître d’ at the Metro Court and he said there was some sort of argument, scuffle happening in the gardens and was concerned things were going to escalate and patrons would get injured. When we got there, it was obvious, things had escalated.”
That exchange leaves General Hospital fans wondering who was in the scuffle? Stay tuned.
So, will Dante put Joe on the case to help keep his son Rocco remain in the clear from shooting Cullum? Will Joe be a good guy, or could he be implanted at the PCPD by Sidwell or Cullum? What about the role that Jonathan Bennett read initially, do you think made it something that he really wanted to play? Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section below.
