Wallly Kurth To Make A Return To General Hospital!

Great news General Hospital fans! Those who have been hoping that Wally Kurth will be making another return to the ABC soap opera as Ned Ashton will be getting their wish soon!
According to a tweet from Kurth himself today, “Well, I had nice day in Port Charles yesterday. Yes, Ned will be arriving in town soon. Stay tuned. Thanks for waiting!”
Wally is currently recurring on Days of our Lives in the role of Justin Kiriakis, and last made an appearance in Port Charles in January of 2013. In addition, the fan favorite landed in the Supporting Actor Pre-Nomination field vying for this year’s Daytime Emmy!
Upon getting into the next round, Kurth also tweeted, “Very excited to be on the Pre-Nomination list for the Emmys this year. Looks to be a crowded field.”

More casting news from Days of Our Lives, and for now, the soap opera seems to be breaking their new additions to Salem via their Instagram account. Now comes word and picture on August 24, that General Hospital and The Young and the Restless alum Brytni Sarpy has joined DAYS!
The Peacock soap opera’s Instagram account, showed a photo of Sarpy standing in front of her dressing room in the hallways of Days of Our Lives’ studios. The caption read, “Someone new is checking into Salem… Welcome Brytni Sarpy to the Days of our Lives family! Stay tuned.”
The casting of Sarpy comes on the heels of the announcement of Sydney Malakeh coming to the show in September, and earlier this year General Hospital favorite, Sofia Mattsson (ex-Sasha Gilmore, GH) joining the show in a mystery role when she began taping back around the end of March of this year. Now Sarpy is the “mystery role” category too!
In addition, the Days of Our Lives social team dropped a video ditty of the cast spoofing Love Island, where Sarpy appears as the new “bombshell” of the villa. Other cast members such as Rob Scott Wilson (Alex), Abigail Klein (Abigail), Casey Moss (JJ), Sal Stowers (Lani), Paul Telfer (Xander) and Linsey Godfrey (Sarah) pop-up in it too, among others.

SOAP HOPPING
Soap fans first met Sarpy when she played Valerie Spencer, the niece of Luke (Anthony Geary) and Bobbie Spencer (Jackie Zeman) on General Hospital back in 2015. She made her final appearance on the series back in 2019 to join the cast of The Young and the Restless in the role of Elena Dawson.
Elena was introduced as a love interest for Devon Winters (Bryton James). She later cheated on him with his cousin Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). Elena began to be back-burned by 2023 with Sarpy’s last on-screen appearance in Genoa City in November of 2024.
Due to Days of Our Lives nearly year in advance tape schedule, viewers will have to wait till sometime in the early summer of 2027 to see Brytni’s arrival in Salem.

Sydney Malakeh Joins the Cast of ‘Days of Our Lives’ in Mystery Role: Who Do You Think She’s Playing?
There’s a new gal coming to Salem, or is she new and a recast? That’s what inquiring minds from Days of Our Lives fans have been trying to figure out since the Peacock soap opera dropped an Instagram video heralding actress‘ Sydney Malakeh‘s arrival in Salem.
The soap did confirm that viewers will first see Malakeh on the September 9 episode. In the video, Malakeh is seen going set to set from her dressing room and in to the halls of Days of Our Lives studios.
What we do know id that Sydney has been acting professionally for 6 years and had appeared on Grey’s Anatomy, Apple TV’s Shrinking and the HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls.
Plenty of Malakeh’s DAYS castmates jumped into the comment thread with positive emojis symbols or written excitement including: Paul Telfer (Xander), Linsey Godfrey (Sarah), Sal Stowers (Lani), Conner Floyd (Chad), Eric Martsolf (Brady) and Christie Clark (Carrie) and more now that fans will finally see her on-air. Since Days of Our Lives tapes 10-11 months in advance, Sydney would have started taping the show sometime back in 2025.
DAYS fans think perhaps because the actress’ name is Sydney that she might be playing the grown-up daughter of Sami and EJ. That character hasn’t bee on the canvas since 2021.

Peacock Hikes Subscription Rates for Fourth Time in Four Years; ‘Days of Our Lives’ Fans Sound Off
While recently the streaming service Peacock reported turning a profit for its first time since its infancy, now comes word that the company is raising their prices for all customers, and in some cases it stared today on August 18.
The news of the subscription rate increases marks the fourth time the NBCUniversal streaming platform has done so in four years. So, on August 18, Peacock is increasing the prices for new or returning subscribers and customers, while current subscribers will see the rate increase on or after September 17 depending on their billing cycle when they initially signed up.
Here is the new pricing to follow along: Peacock Premium (which includes ads) will be $12.99/month, up two dollars from $10.99; Peacock Premium Plus will be $19.99/month, up three dollars increase from $16.99; and the Peacock Select tier (which includes current and past seasons of NBC and Bravo shows but excludes movies, live sports and Peacock originals) will increase a dollar from $7.99 to $8.99/month.

SUBSCRIBERS CONTINUE TO PAY MORE ACROSS THE STREAMER LANDSCAPE
It was back in June that the streamer reported that aid subscribers were up to 48 million adding a 2 million net gain during Q2 in of 2026. The subscription price hikes are rampant now in the entertainment streaming industry where over the last two years for example, Netflix, HBO Max, Apple TV, Paramount+ have all raised their fees to consumers.
Peacock’s tier-levels feature not only Days of Our Lives, but reality hits such as The Traitors and Love Island USA, Bravo series, and a vault of Saturday Night Live, Law & Order, The Real Housewives franchise, and Below Deck episodes as well. Pecock Premium and Premium Plus subscribers have access to sports and live events, as well.
DAYS OF OUR LIVES SUBSCRIBERS HAD A FEW CHOICE WORDS FOR PEACOCK
As Days of Our Lives fans know, the soap opera moved from NBC to the streamer back in September of 2022 after 57 years on broadcast television. When the news hit X on the price increase, DAYS fans had a lot to say about it. Here are just a few of the comments below:
“I can’t believe Peacock and can’t come to a deal with Cordya to air old episodes of #Days. That alone would bring a ton of subscribers,” to If Peacock actually cared about #Days of Our Lives, gave the show the budget it needs for better sets, cameras, background actors and enough time to tell proper stories, I wouldn’t mind paying more. If the money actually showed on screen, the higher price would be worth it,” to “I will continue to pay for a Peacock subscription as long as #Days is on it, but did we know there was another price increase coming?” and more.

jimh, I trust you to give an honest answer. Knowing that I only watch DAYS and you watch DAYS and GH, which soap should have Wally full time if he wanted full time?
I see Justin as a viable character whom should be used more with Adrienne and Sonny and also Victor. I want Wally on DAYS full time!!!
How much is he wanted and needed on GH?
I actually dont mind him doing both shows like Eilen Davison does Days and Y&R but i do like him better as Justin on Days…however, both shows dont seem to have…imo…interesting long term plans for either of his characters to warrant him full time on either show at the moment!!!

LOVE him on GH as well as Days. I think I like him better on GH, though. He seems to have a stronger character / story line on GH. He does a GREAT JOB on both soaps but I would have to say I’d vote for him on GH. I don’t think Days is as riveting since Allison Sweeney and the actor who played EJ were written out of DAYS !! I switched back to DOOL after All My Children was replaced with The Chew. I NEVER EVER watch the CHEW…boycotting it still B/C they have a ton of cooking shows and networks devoted strictly to cooking !! Oh well, at least GH is holding its own thus far !! I will be a wreck when they (TV) eventually take GH and Days off. I love my soaps. Been watching GH since it came on when I was just a pre-teen. Have watched Days for just about the same length of time EXCEPT when the story line became so convuluted (sp??) & just weird like science fiction.

He should choose Days, without a doubt. It’s the far superior show.

Ned is in town as Julian’s secret partner. The show is hiding who the partner is by making viewers assume it’s Ric. Ned is not only rich enough, but also he had history with Julia Barrett; that she would sell her company to him. Which we no the owner of Barrett is Julian’s backer and Ric has never had that type of money.
I do believe that Ned is Jillian’s backer. Now that would be a great storyline for GH. Ned was involved with Julia and has always hated Sonny! That would be so much fun and unexpected.
@Nick…..I don’t believe Ned is Fluke or Julian’s partner. I read a few weeks ago that the unidentified partner to Fluke is a woman. I believe that it is Julia Barrett. We know that Luke is still alive and locked up…they have shown that much. The only person Fluke could possibly be is his cousin Bill Eckert. He had a thing going with Julia Barrett during that time. Don’t recall how either of them felt about Sonny since this was decades ago, but its the only scenario that makes any sense to me. But with this head writer who the heck knows. Tony Geary was on GH for that period of time as Bill….prior to his returning as Luke.
We do need more Q’s back in Port Charles, but not the same old, same old ones. Was never a Ned fan….. what about Celia and Jimmy Lee? And her hubby “Grant?” Whatever, hope Kurth’s return does not portend an AJ exit….love SK and very tired of his character being mistreated and tortured. The only way I could see him leaving is if he is later returning in the role of Jason, although to be honest AJ was always much more appealing to me than “Stonecold” ever was or could be…..Kanan’s stint on the show has been really squandered over this past year….I can only hope that AJ will be on the mend soon, and getting a storyline befitting of the actor’s talent.
I do agree with you about Sean Kanan-AJ. Sean is an amazing actor, and I’d like to see AJ really clean-up his act and finally become successful with a beautiful woman on his arm! Love when he barbs with Tracy!
Sean is wonderful addition to the show and I love his chemistry with Maura West.
Unfortunately, none of us will be having our druthers where AJ is concerned given the recent announcement of Sean’s forthcoming departure…..
Wish he’d be on Days again. I don’t know why Days made Aiden a lawyer when we already have Justin. Doesn’t bode well for airtime for Justin.
With Peter R.(Bo) obviously not returning and no recast as Bo, i wouldve liked to had seen a Hope and Justin pairing…they couldve become close if Bo had been killed off (off camera) and Justin was helping Hope with legal issues involving Bo’s estate or if Hope was divorcing Bo and Justin was handling that…he himself having marital issues with Adrienne at the time as well…i predicted an obvious Aiden and Hope pairing a long time ago and suggested ‘Days’ needs to bring in a new family(without diminishing the Horton and Bradys importance) to refreshen the show but i still wouldve enjoyed a Justin and Hope pairing!!!
I’m thrilled! I absolutely love Wally, on both DAYS and GH; but, my all-time favorite will always be him as Ned Ashton (AKA Eddie Maine) on GH! Bring it, Wally! Love the Q’s!
I totally agree. I would love to see Wally back on GH full time. He has so much history with the show it would be such a welcome relief from all these newbies that they have brought to the show. My top two picks would be to get rid of AVA and LEVI. When they are on its like nails on a blackboard to me. Can’t STAND either one of them.

With such a big cast, takes away from the core, historic characters.
As long as they have a story for him. I dont want Tracey to cry on his shoulder and then he is back in Salem the following week! Make him head of ELQ. Cast Dylan, sober up AJ. Tracy can referee the boys! Do you realize the only business that they show on a regular basis other than the hospital is Kellys. Make ELQ relevant again. See: Newman, Jabot, and Chancellor.
