WATCH: Jimmy Fallon and Carol Burnett In The Lost 90's Soap Opera TENSIONS!

Leave it to Jimmy Fallon to bring on comedy legend Carol Burnett to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and have her part of a hilarious spoof on the soaps!

The set-up has Fallon and Burnett discussing the time they played husband and wife in the lost 90’s soap opera entitled Tensions! And apparently Tensions only got past its third episode before it was canceled, because everything was “too tense” for the viewers to handle.  The opening credits are even complete with an hourglass!

Inevitably, Fallon tosses to the clips of Tensions – which is actually being done live –  as Fallon and Burnett run from the host set to another and don their costumes and perform the “tense” scenes, which are complete with soap signatures; long soap tags at the end of scenes, the slap, and throwing coffee in another character’s face!  The best part of Tensions is that Jimmy and Carol were clearly having a blast doing it!

So after the jump enjoy Tensions, and then weigh-in if you got a giggle out of it!

That was a riot! Carol Burnett is the master of spoofs. (Fallon wasn’t too shabby either!) Thanks, Michael for sharing.

Brilliant! Reminds me of her spoof “As the Stomach Turns” from her classic variety show.

“That’s how time works, Petra.” Classic. Love Carol Burnett. And love how the spoof opening credits reminded me of the dopey “One Life to Live” credits that featured stuff like champagne pouring instead of the cast. Makes me want to go watch “The Carol Burnett Show.” Jimmy shouldn’t feel bad about cracking up; Carol has reduced greats such as Harvey Korman and Tim Conway to laughter too!

‘Days of our Lives’ to Honor James Reynolds’ 40th Anniversary as Abe Carver with Special Episode

As DAYS viewers witnessed on Friday’s episode, Abe has been shot in the park, after Carmine pulls out a gun, and Jake (Brandon Barash) tries to apprehend him.  Jake rushes to Abe’s side and calls an ambulance and he is rushed to University Hospital.  Once there, Abe eventually flatlines, while Lani (Sal Stowers), Paulina (Jackee Harry) and Eli (Lamon Archey) are besides themselves with worry.

This sets the stage for Monday’s episode where Abe will go into the light, as Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) works to save his light and while he hovers between life and death, DAYS fans are treated to the special 40th anniversary episode of James Reynolds as Salem’s Abe Carver.   The Daytime Emmy-winning actor, (he won Lead Actor in 2018) began his Salem journey when he first aired back on October 29th, 1981.

While Abe revisits the past, he will meet up with his late wife and love of his life, Lexie, only according to Soap Opera Digest, Renee Jones was not available to be a part of the milestone episode. So, in a pivot another actress was brought in.

Reynolds told SOD on the Lexie appearance, “The young actress they brought in to be part of this was just wonderful“n giving the essence of (their) relationship and communicated beautifully, just beautifully, in her face and her eyes, as Renee did quite so often.”  He added, “I was kind of transported, actually.”

In addition, James continues to be the the longest-running black actor in the same role in television history.
