New Years in Salem looks to rock the world of many of its long time and newbie residents, especially in the love, romance, and sex department!
In this week’s promo from NBC’s Days of our Lives, can Jarlena (Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall) finally reunite and ring in 2015 as the couple everyone wants to see in each other arms? Will young buck JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) reveal to his girlfriend Paige (True O’ Brien) that the reason he dumped her is that he has been having cougar sex with her mother … Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva)?
And what about Melanie (Molly Burnett) and Brady (Eric Martsolf)? These besties look like they are about to try their chance on love with each other! Is it a good idea this time around in their relationship? And, there is also new arrival Serena (Melissa Archer) and her quest to nab her former flame Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan)? Can she do it … or will Nicole (Arianne Zucker) put a stop to that?
But, perhaps the moment everyone will be talking about is just who is clinking glasses come midnight between Sonny (Freddie Smith), Will (Guy Wilson), and Paul (Christopher Sean)? Will Sonny reunite for some lovin with his ex? Or, could Will hit the sheets with the man he is writing an expose’ on?

Days has very few couples to cheer about…John and Marlena…Victor and Maggie…Erik and Serena are the only three twosomes that feel couplish…wish Doug and Julie had stayed longer…hopefully next year Brady and Theresa and Paul and Sonny will be added to my list…what really would make it a Happy New Year is Kristen had return just as Brady is about to plant a kiss on dopey dimwitted Melanie Jonas its Kristen who steps between them and is kissed instead followed by fireworks…now thats fireworks id enjoy on January 1st!!!…lol
Michael, is this even a question needing asking??? John and Marlena are SOOOOO OVERDUE! Jarlena fans are dying over this promo. OK next up…Michael visits the DHs on set, cause we love you behind the scenes!!
I despise Eric and Serena. They have ZERO chemistry. And if Eric pouts any more about Nicole I might crawl through the pile of vomit and my television screen to punch him. He is so annoying. He forgives Kristen and Marlena and Sami but he WON’T forgive Nicole? She may have lied to him but she lied to him because she LOVED him. I hope Nicole gets a real man and that Eric suddenly realizes he is gay and leaves all those horrible women behind and gets some real action. Maybe he can be with Paul or Sonny after one of them gets dumped. Or better yet maybe he feels “motivated by God” to go back to the priesthood. Serena is awful. Her character is awful and the story is so boring I have to pinch myself to stay awake. Make Melanie and Serena go away. Both of them are the WORST actresses on the planet. All this hype over substandard talent coming to Days. Quick bring back Eileen Davidson and Alison Sweeney to save the show again.
By far John and Marlena! DAYS needs one couple that is inspirational and proves their love can get through anything, that is John and Marlena IMO. The rest, I have no interest in, I just keep replaying the John and Marlena parts. Love seeing Drake Hogestyn’s beautiful smile and seeing this awesome actor back in Salem where he belongs!
Even though i love Wilson , i can’t help but think Will & Paul would be really cute together !! What is their ship name ? Pill ? Waul ? Lol

Want to see some real romance and adventure as only John and Marlena can deliver!! They are two wasted actors who could really turn days around.
Without John and Marlena front and center this show is history. I for one am sick of bringing in all the young ones and just as fast they are gone. It’s a revolving door and the true actors are on the side lines. One more benching of Drake and I’m done after more than 40 yrs.

Couldn’t care less about any other couples on this show atm, the writing’s all over the place.. This show desperately needs a new writing team before the 50th anniversary.
I so hope that JJ and Paige can be reunited. They are so cute together. I am very hopeful for Eric and Serena. I realize we don’t know anything about her except that she was loving enough to let Eric go when he felt called to the priesthood. In my book, that is genuine love. Melanie seems to be eyeing Brady awfully hard. Considering that Theresa and Kristen are still on the loose, I don’t know if that’s a wise choice for her to make.
The couple I want to see on New Years Eve, is John & Marlena. After everything they’ve been through, he’s FINALLY back home where he belongs! I’m hoping this NYE is the beginning of a nice romantic storyline for them – gimme some conversations, apologies, forgiveness, looks, flirting, dancing, hugs, etc for #Jarlena in 2015!! I like other couples on Days, but the reason I watch is for John & Marlena!!! XOXOXO, Michael!!!
Besides Doug and Julie, John and Marlena are the glue that holds Days of our Lives together. We must get them back together so that the generations of fans can have something to watch. I like new characters, but it is the tried and true characters that we grew up with that make the show what it is. Give me a hot sexy scene between John and Marlena any day! Their chemistry is unmatched and they will always do it better than anyone on daytime!
You said that perfectly Chris, J&M are PERFECTION…I don’t think you can get the whole story days is telling with regards to them by watching just the DH’s so it is wise to pay attention to other things happening along the way. Days need to be multi -generation to move ahead. I could easily watch them as much as when they were on in the 90’s daily, but there must be a balance of both. BALANCE currently not getting that BALANCE
Love this week’s preview because it is about time for John & Marlena to ring in the new together (most romantic couple on TV) and hopefully be front burner in 2015 storylines. They are the only reason I watch. They are #1 :)))

geez how irritating that we cannot see these promo vids in Canada. I am over John and Marlena and looking forward to a younger less botoxed couple to save the show. As a 49 tr watcher I know that it was younger couples who made the show for me when I was younger so to keep this show on the tube we can no longer rely on old relationships. They are boring like watching paint dry. I want Theresa to come out shining in the new year.

It had better be John and Marlena! I have watched this show for 39 years. Have watched Drake hogestyn from his first day. He and deidre and their characters are my favorite.I have been extremely disappointed in how Days writers started writing andportraying them. Not true to character.
Truly hoping the writers reunite John and Marlena. And please quit underutilizing and sidelining Drake. He is a great actor!

I love John and Marlena, with Bo gone they are the lone standing couple(to me) on the show. DAYS has kinda gone downhill lately, IMO. TOO much focus was spent on Daniel and Jennifer, a couple that in reality, never got off the ground. Daniel is overused PERIOD. There are WAY too many new characters, Paul, Paige, Eve(recast, but still), Theresa, Ben, Clyde, Jordan. The exit of Sami Brady was one of the worst things I have ever seen. If you are a sami-fan, after watching her grow up on screen and watch her go through 10 or more weddings, she DIDNT get her happy ending and love evaded her. No man will ever come close to what EJ was to Sami and they didn’t even do a presumed death and have Sami ride off with him. Brady and Melanie have no chemistry and don’t really seem age appropriate. Isn’t Brady in his late 30s?? The teen scene is awful, JJ and Paige cannot compare to the glory days of Shawn, Belle, Chloe, Phillip and Mimi. What needs to happen is they need to bring back Shawn-D and Belle with Claire in tow, Austin and Carrie with their kid in tow, Cassie Brady(now SHE would be a bad-girl pairing for Brady), Billie Reed and Peter Blake-DiMera!!! DAYS would rock then!! And give Lucas a GOOD story!!!!!!
And now Serena, yet ANOTHER newbie. Bring Billie back and have her had a past with Aiden!! And bring back Bill Horton and Laura and have Kate battle Laura for Bill!!!!
Lucas definitely needs a storyline! And, I too, agree to bring back a new Shawn-D and the old Belle, and a new Billie Reed…or bring back Krista Allen or Julie Pinson, and I’d love a new Peter Blake return to Salem, too.
The character of Peter Blake-DiMera definitely needs to return, It would shake up jennifer, Kristen and Stefano, and Chad would have some real comp for the DiMera empire. I could SO see Peter hooking up with Kate. I wish it could be Jason Brooks! He is GORGEOUS!!
Yeah, he would shake them all up. I too, wish it could be Jason Brooks, but I believe that would be highly doubtful. How about Agent Sloane, Robb Derringer from GH, he recently wrapped up his arc. Jason and Robb are the same age. DAYS pick up Robb Derringer as Peter BLAKE.
He would be a good replacement. But that incident with Missy Reeves was in the mid-90s, you don’t think they could move past that for the sake of the show? I can just think of the flashbacks with him and Eileen Davidson!! Their brother/sister chemistry was/is unmatched!!!!
The flashbacks would indeed be grand with Peter (Jason Brooks) and Kristen (Eileen Davidson), however at the end of the day…it’s probably not all that necessary. DAYS made up a few flashback scenes with Missy Reeves and Kassie DePavia. It was ok, though if DAYS brought in Robb Derringer as Peter Blake, they could do that, too. I’d just really like to see Kristen bring Peter with her in February. Come on DAYS, hire Robb Derringer as Peter!!!

I hope it is revealed that Serena is John’s daughter from Diana Colville. She was played by Genie Francis and her mother’s name was Serena. I hope the show learned from their mistake in hiring Chrishell Stause and tying her to no one on the canvas. It doesnt work. Plus, then maybe we could get Genie Francis back on t.v. GH has made it painfully clear that they have no interest in Genie or the character Laura or the greatest supercouple of all soap time, Luke and Laura. The Cartini regime spat on that legacy and delivered a big F you to fans who invested over 30 years in L and L. Let’s hope Days plays this one right.

Have been replaying this weeks preview over & over only because of J&M. They have been on the backburner for too long now. Hope they will have a great storyline for 2015 I hope they will be front and center. They are the major reason I watch this show. We deserve it after the nonsense we have had to endure with J&M for the last two years, it did not make sense AT ALL!!!

Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall are the core of Days ! We have waited along time to see <3 John and Marlena together doing what they do BEST Romance <3 They have chemistry that has been there since Hello, I hope we get see this storyline be the love story for John and Marlena .
Definitely John and Marlena! They should have never been split up in the first place. The writers messed up big time. I just hope that they do a reunion justice because this couple and the DH’s deserve it! Not to mention the fans will come back in droves if they are reunited.
I want John back on my TV screen; so that means Jarlena! That’s a fact! A fab actor such as Drake Hogestyn ,in my opinion, has been so underused lately on #DAYS! yeah, I can’t stand melanie, either. what a poor choice to bring her back. I too, like Kate Mansi and I do not like her with the Ben character. He is dead boring. The first Ben was more mysterious, new Ben is just banal. Abigail does need a new major new storyline.
I didn’t understand the big hooplah with Melanie returning, either. She was never my favorite character. I haven’t watched the show since she’s been back. Just been peaking on here to get an update every now and then.
Unfortunately, I could really care less. I’m very disappointed in DAYS. I usually tune back in when Eileen Davidson returns. Two years ago, I was addicted to DAYS. Loved seeing Eileen then-playing John, playing Brady, having Marlena as a nemesis. The writing and storylines at that time were sensational. Now, I’m just bored.
If the writers can wipe the slate clean and have John and Marlena start rebuilding whats left of their relationship this will be an AMAZING New Year!!!!! John and Marlena are the foundation of that show and have proven that not only does the public love them but we support them and all of their inherent ups and downs; when it is meant to be it is meant to be! #jm4evamore

I think Nicole and Daniel should try it out! She has been sad and hurting bc of what Eric did to her! Ya so what she lied to him big deal! Forgive is what the bible says and is he not suppose to be a man of the lord? I think when he actually sees Nicole happy with someone else it will hit him hard and make him realize he lost a good person and the one who really loved him! Yes I would love for Nicole and Eric together again bc they are a great couple! Playing a little hard to get can’t hurt after all Eric deserves to have to win her back!

53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Announced: ‘The Young and the Restless’ Tops With 18, ‘Beyond the Gates’ With 16
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) today announced the full list of nominees for the upcoming 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, and it was CBS daytime’s The Young and the Restless and broadcast television newest soap opera, Beyond the Gates that racked up the most nominations with 18 and 16, respectively.
The full reveal on Tuesday follows the announcement of several major categories including Lead Actor and Actress on Monday via Extra and Entertainment Tonight and The View today revealing Daytime Drama Series and more.
The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmys ceremony is set to take place on Friday, October 30 at the historic Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California.

In a statement, Adam Sharp, President and CEO of NATAS expressed, “We’re proud to honor the extraordinary talent and creative teams whose work continues to define and elevate daytime television, As the Daytime landscape evolves and new forms of storytelling emerge, we remain committed to recognizing the innovation happening across the industry.”
“Each year, the Daytime Emmy Awards celebrate the creativity, passion, and dedication that drive this vibrant community of storytellers,” said Rachel Schwartz, Head of the Daytime Emmy Awards. “Congratulations to this year’s nominees, whose work continues to entertain, inspire and connect with audiences every day. We look forward to celebrating their remarkable achievements in Hollywood this October.”
The Daytime Emmy Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of genres, including daytime dramas, talk series, entertainment news, culinary, adventure, instructional and legal/courtroom programming.
This year’s Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Gold & Silver Circle Inductees, and ceremony host will be announced at a later date.

Monday on Entertainment Tonight, the second set of nominations for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced which included the highly-coveted Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actress and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series.
ET followed suit after Extra announced the nominees, as previously reported, in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actor and Outstanding Daytime Talk Host.
Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.

THE FIVE LEADING LADIES OF THE SOAPS ARE …
The 2026 Lead Actress nominees are: Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera), Days of Our Lives, Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree), Beyond the Gates, Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), The Young and the Restless, Heather Tom (Katie Logan), The Bold and the Beautiful, and Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree), Beyond the Gates.
This marks the first Daytime Emmy nominations for Karla Mosley and Tamara Tunie. In addition, this marks the first-time in her career that Stacy Haiduk had received a Lead Actress nod after two Supporting Actress nominations.
Meanwhile, Michelle Stafford had previously won 3 Emmys – 2 for Lead Actress and 1 for Supporting, but this recognition makes it her 11th overall nomination.
Heather Tom currently is tied for the most all-time Daytime Emmy wins with One Life to Live alum and General Hospital guest star, Erika Slezak. The B&B star has 19 nominations throughout her career.

In the Outstanding Daytime Talk Series category, the nominees are: 3rd Hour of Today, The Drew Barrymore Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Live with Kelly and Mark, Today with Jenna and Friends and The View.

It’s Daytime Emmy nomination week, and as previously reported things kick-off on Monday, July 13 when Entertainment Tonight (7pm ET) will announce the nominees for Lead Actress category and Daytime Talk Series for the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards. In addition on Monday, Extra (7pm ET) will reveal the nominees for Lead Actor and Daytime Talk Host.
On Tuesday, The View (11am ET) starts things off with their announcement of Daytime Drama, Entertainment News program and Outstanding Daytime Personality-Daily. That is followed by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) full reveal of all the categories beginning at 12noon ET/9am PT on their website and their official social handles on X and Instagram.
Then, Tuesday night at 8pm ET/5pm PT join Michael Fairman as he hosts his 12th annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Special 2026 live on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel where he will chat with some of the just announced nominees as we celebrate the hard work of the men and women in front of the camera who will be going for gold.

This year, the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be handed out on October 30 in ceremonies in Hollywood, California (Venue yet to be revealed). At that time, as like last year, both the major categories and creative arts will be presented. There is no word yet on a broadcast partner for the annual celebration of daytime programming, or if it will soley be streamed on NATAS’ watch.theemmys.tv and various apps and platforms.
