The treatment of Julian Jerome was more criminal than almost anything the man did himself. The hypocritical judgments of Julian by Sam and others who were eager to forgive Sonny’s evil deeds were appalling. They wrote him into a corner…why? Too handsome to be on the same show as Sonny or Jason? That’s what it seems like. I had hoped Will would replace Richard Burgi as Ashland Locke. That at least would have raised the heat quotient on Y&R. I hope he finds a home in either day- or prime time.

Holding a knife to his wife’s throat, killing people by leaving a bomb in a restaurant, chloroforming Monica to steal Wiley… let’s not sugarcoat the character. The “Olivia/Cyrus/Nelle made me do it” excuse just doesn’t hold up. The popularity of the Alexis/Julian pairing was the main reason he stayed on the show as long as he did.

It wasn’t my intention to sugarcoat anything. I’m just saying that the deeds of Sonny, Jason, Carly, Ava…these all get either forgotten or swept so far under the rug that we’ll never see them again. And I don’t agree that his tenure depended on Alexis; with better writing they’d have had another leading man to reckon with, instead of dull Drew and dopey Dante.

Agree Soaphound, completely! SO many killers and more and now they are heros… and don’t forget Nina ripped Avery from Ava’s loins and now they are besties! Julian was written into a corner and I know from actually meeting and talking to him, he wanted to stay. Too much hotness, I guess!!‍♀️

Mom2530, hotness is right. Even the back of that man’s NECK used to stoke my fires. I keep hoping he’ll show up on YR or DOOL.

You do know somebody wrote that garbage right..citing character flaws when the main topic is about why this actor should still be on gH is the sign of a mark…They clearly had issues with the actor for them to go so deeply to destroy his character…They didn’t treat the Peter/Heinrich character as badly as they wrote Julian and Wes Ramsey is a terrible actor

He has always had a cowardly history, even before Sonny came on the scene. And don’t forget he slithered into town under an assumed name and Ava killed Connie to keep his secret. Oh, and didn’t he gut Carrlos like a fish? Tried to kill Brad, too, but couldn’t even get that right; hurt Lucas instead. He was never that strong of a character going back to when his father was alive.

Agreed Alic

When first introduced, Victor and Olivia Jerome were the most compelling members of the family.

Victor Jerome’s infatuation with Lucy and Olivia Jerome’s redemption with Colton were both good storylines.

Going back in GH history, it’s puzzling that they never retconned Lucas to be Robert’s son. However, that would’ve taken him out of Bobbie’s orbit and into Mac’s after Robert’s presumed death in the early 90s.

With responsibility for the perceived “first deaths” of Duke Lavery and Olivia Jerome, Julian was written according to character when he did all the bad things over the past 5 years. It’s a testament to deVry’s skilled acting that the character stayed around as long as he did.

Right, Steve. The actor himself is skilled and seems likeable, but his character has always been weak, and he could never quite do the right thing. He was a bad mobster and a dodgy “reformed” mobster.

Much missed from GH, but will watch him in this show…

Listen situations happen behind the scenes something was going on he got sideways with somebody it’s all politics with the soaps as everything is !

So true… always a soap opera behind the soap opera ! I will alway enjoy watching William Devry… just because he is a fellow Canadian !

If a Devil remembers correctly, it was more an issue of William being able to live in Canada & work in the US… which proved to be extremely difficult during the worst of the pandemic when the border was effectively closed. So he chose Canada. Given that they have an actual health care system… and there was a pandemic going on… that was a logical choice.

Now of course you could argue about the way the character was written out, considering he pretty much undid any “redemption” he might have earned since his return from the dead.

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
