WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW Season Premiere: Seth Rollins Takes United States Championship, Brock Lesnar Returns

Photos: WWE

The season premiere of Monday Night Raw (USA Network) brought it with it a major show that included: the surprise return of Brock Lesnar, the 25th anniversary reunion of D-Generation X, a birthday celebration for The Miz, and a title that changed hands.

It was previously announced that Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins would battle Bobby Lashley for the United States Championship on Raw. However, before the match even started, the beast incarnate, Brock Lesnar showed up and got into the ring with Lashley and attacked him, leaving many confused as to his motives.

Lesnar hit Bobby with the F-5.  However, ‘The All Mighty’ did not stay down, so Lesnar delivered a suplex and yet another F-5, followed by the Kimura Lock dismantling Lashley … mostly his arm.

Taking advantage of the situation, Rollins came out from the back and started to mock Lashley, as it became apparent Bobby wouldn’t be able to defend his U.S. title. However, once Rollins called Bobby a ‘disgrace to his country’, the enraged Lashley threw caution to the wind, and got in the ring for his match with Rollins, which proved to be his downfall.

After a pedigree, and a frog flash, Rollins thought he would score the pinfall, but Lashley kicked out.  Finally, using ‘The Stomp’, Seth won the belt.  It should be noted that over the weekend, Rollins had lost his ‘Fight Pit’ match with Matt Riddle at Extreme Rules, so for ‘the visionary” to turn that loss-into-a-win on the season premiere of RAW was the right call by the WWE for one of their best ring performers. Later in the show, Lashley vowed revenge on Lesnar for taking him out before his championship match with Rollins.

Hard to believe it’s been 25 years since D-Generation X hit the wrestling scene with such impact. Four of its members Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg and X-Pac were present for the premiere.

Of course, it’s always notable that the late, groundbreaking Chyna, who was such a big part of DX’s success is no longer with us should never be forgotten for her contributions to the group.  On Raw, Chyna’s former boyfriend and DX member, X-Pac, did give the ‘Ninth Wonder of the World’ at least a shoutout.   The DX members each had time to speak in the ring, and gave an obligatory, ‘suck it’ at the end of the episode to punctuate their place in wrestling history.

Other highlights included: Sami Zayn taking on Riddle, which also had more on the storyline where Zayn is tasked with trying to get Jey Uso to calm down, and in line for ‘The Bloodline’, a recap of Bray Wyatt’s big return from Extreme Rules (he will debut back later this week on Friday Night Smackdown), Dexter Lumis ruining The Miz’s birthday bash, plus The OC returning to help AJ Styles against The Judgement Day.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL: Finn Knows His Toes; Hope Lays Into Thomas

Tuesday’s episode of The Bold and the Beautiful featured two key story points. First, Finn (Tanner Novlan) is finally using his doctor brain/skills …  and putting all the pieces together to come to the conclusion that his bio-mom, the evil Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown), faked her own death, and her cut-off toe (the one that was supposedly severed when Sheila was attacked by a bear) that was presented as evidence, may not be as it appears.

Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), who is in Finn’s office asks her husband, “You really think Sheila Carter cut off her own toe?” Finn replies, “You always told me she was capable of anything. She knew that we would never stop looking for her. Faking her own death was the only way out.”

Meanwhile, while hiding out at Deacon’s (Sean Kanan), Sheila is painting all nine of her toenails, and goes on to herself about how sacrificing her toe for her freedom is a little price to pay.  Later, Sheila tells Deacon about her sacrifice and the agony she went through to stay out of prison and that she will never turn herself in. Deacon tells her it’s time to do just that, or he will turn her in! Sheila is looking mighty pissed off to hear this from Deacon.

Back at Finn’s office, Finn and then Steffy examine Sheila’s toe under the microscope, where he points out that it’s too clean, there are no marks from a bear attack.  Sheila had to have done this to herself. Steffy is freaked knowing Sheila is alive, but Finn promises to never let Sheila hurt them again, professing, “I will find Sheila Carter and she will go to prison for the rest of her life!”

In the showdown we’ve been waiting for, Hope (Annika Noelle) throws down on Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) in the offices of Forrester Creations.  Hope asks Thomas how he can even have the nerve to show his face around the company, adding  “You really are shameless, aren’t you?” She goes to say that she believed in him.  Thomas tries to get a word in edge-wise to attempt to somehow explain his machinations, but Hope shuts him down before he can speak. Hope calls him out for sabotaging Brooke and Ridge’s marriage and using Douglas, his son to do it. Thomas says he can handle everything else falling apart around him, but not his connection to Hope and his son.

Hope is devastated by Thomas’ devious plot to call CPS posing as her mother.  She points out that the call never should have been made and he should never have asked their son to lie. “Now he doesn’t even want to see you anymore,” she exclaims.  Thomas doesn’t believe it, but Hope says it’s true and it’s all his doing.  Just then, Thomas starts blaming Donna. That was the final straw, and Hope finally loses it and screams, “Stop, Thomas! This is on you! You were the one who put him in the middle of this! I can’t believe I ever trusted you again.” She really goes for Thomas’ jugular when Hope says Liam and her mother were right about him all along.  Thomas asks Hope not to give up on him.  Shocked, he even had the nerve to ask her that, an emotional Hope says, “I let my guard down, I did. And then you tried to kiss me. You crossed a line.”  Thomas says he is a one-woman man and that is for Hope. She defiantly responds, “I love Liam. Never you, especially after this betrayal.”

Hope adds that she can’t bear the thought of working with Thomas again.  She ends her tirade by saying to Thomas’ face: “All I see is a sad, pathetic man who kept me from Beth, who didn’t care about his son’s safety so he called CPS on himself.”  Next, Hope leaves the office to which under his breath, Thomas responds, “You didn’t give me a chance to explain.”

As the episode came to its conclusion, we go back to Sheila outside of Deacon’s, now donning a blonde wig and in full disguise, and she says … “There always a way out.”  We fade to black … but not before a signature scary look from Kimberlin Brown as Sheila!

So, what did you think about Finn deducing the problem with the police evidence of Sheila’s toe? What did you think of the performance of Annika Noelle as Hope gave Thomas a piece of her mind and then some? Share your thoughts in the comment section.  But first, watch the final moments from today’s B&B below.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL: Ridge Makes a Beeline to Brooke

Now that Thomas’ (Matthew Atkinson) duplicity and machinations are all out and the open, and Taylor (Krista Allen) also kept her mouth shut right before her wedding to Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), the question on B&B fans minds is … what on earth will Ridge to do next?

On Wednesday’s episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Ridge really lit into his son.  After finding out Thomas called Child Protective Services, pretending to be Brooke (by using Douglas’ voice-changing app), Ridge fumes that his son is in need of some serious help; adding that what he did was sick and twisted. Ridge tells Thomas he is also going to talk to Eric (John McCook) about Thomas’ place at Forrester Creations.

In his overwhelming sense of betrayal, Ridge yells at his son: “I gave you life! I gave you love, I gave you support, and you took it all. Is there anything else you can possibly take from me? I was so proud of you! It makes me sick to look at you.”  Those words stung and Thomas was left in tears in another excellent performance by Matthew Atkinson.

Now, Ridge had a major decision to make – what to do about his bride, Taylor.  No matter how much Taylor, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Thomas tried to make Ridge realize that he belongs with Taylor, and that this is an opportunity for them to be a family again, Ridge is torn.

Previously, Taylor admitted to not fessing up to Ridge about what she learned right before the nuptials (that Thomas made the call to CPS as Brooke) saying she was scared and confused since she was one step away from becoming his wife. “My God Ridge, I love you so much,” she says. Ridge tells Taylor that he loves her too, but he’s going to set this situation straight.  Next thing you know, Ridge walks out as a devastated Taylor is left crying on the couch with Steffy trying to comfort her, and Thomas’ life imploding before him.

Next, Brooke gets a surprise visitor at her door when Ridge arrives. A shocked Brooke listens as Ridge tells her that he learned something today that she needs to know. He starts with, “I should have had more faith in you.”

Ridge goes on to explain that he was so certain, that she was the one who called CPS on Thomas.  Brooke is stunned!  She tells Ridge she never made such a call. That’s when Ridge shares he knows that now as it was Thomas who manipulated the situation to blow up their marriage. Ridge claims he knew in his heart of hearts that Brooke would never do something like this. Before the episode fades to black, Ridge admits to Brooke, “I am more sorry than I can say.”

Now let us know, what do you think will happen next? Will Brooke be so hurt that Ridge had such little faith in her that she will not take him back? Will Ridge head back to the Forresters and get married to Taylor, anyway?  Comment below.  But, first check out the final scene between Brooke and Ridge from yesterday’s B&B.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Felicia, Robert & Holly’s Masterplan Revealed Featuring Heart-Tugging Moments from Tristan Rogers & Emma Samms

Wednesday’s General Hospital began where the previous episode left off, with an on-fire, Holly Sutton (Emma Samms), literally! As the action picks up, Robert (Tristan Rogers) covers Holly with blankets to try and douse the flames.  The paramedics announce Holly has suffered second-degree burns over 75% of her body.

When the ambulance takes off, Robert goes with it. Meanwhile, Jordan (Tanisha Harper) and Mac (John J. York) are looking for evidence from the cabin fire … and wonder where the necklace has gone?

Later, the ambulance pulls over to the side of the road, and one of the drivers is none other than paramedic Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner)! Felicia reveals herself as does Holly, who is perfectly fine, and Robert, who was in on the entire ruse to get Holly safely out of the country and away from Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy).

Viewers learn in flashbacks how this trio worked together to pull this off: Felicia showed up at the cabin with fire retardant clothes for Holly to wear and revealed how she planned to set the stove to start the fire.  We then learn that Holly and Robert staged Robert’s drugging and mugging, in order for Holly to steal the necklace and leave it inside the cabin for the PCPD to find.  It was Holly’s plan to ensure that Victor would have no further use for her.

Next, Robert gives Holly the keys to a car that can’t be traced; as she is to drive to Canada with a new ID and completely disappear.  Felicia adds that records will show that Holly was taken to a burn facility halfway around the world, freeing her to find out just where Victor is holding her beloved son, Ethan.

Holly has a surprise in store for Victor on her departure! In a flashback, Holly meets up with Selina Wu (Lydia Look) on the pier and gifts her with one of the jewels from the necklace in exchange for poisoning Victor for her. Holly tells Selina she won’t find her son alive and well if Victor is dead, and assures Selina the poison will not kill Victor, but will be payback.

As the episode comes to a conclusion, and if you are a longtime fan of GH, you probably reached for the hankies in touching and beautifully-played moments between Tristan Rogers and Emma Samms.

In the story, Holly apologizes to Robert for all the trouble she has caused, but the two share a passionate kiss before they say their final goodbyes. BUT .. you didn’t think Holly would try to get away without one last scheme? She had the necklace in her pocket the whole time, begging the question … was she  going to take it with her? However, Robert knew Holly had the necklace and asks her to hand it over to him, which she does.

For her final moments, Holly walks off into the fog, which could only signify that this guest star turn for Emma Samms has come to its conclusion.

So, what did you think about the twists on today’s episode? Did you think Robert, Felicia and Holly were in cahoots? What did you think of the final scenes between Tristan Rogers and Emma Samms? Comment below.
