WWE ‘Saturday Night’s Main Event’: CM Punk, Jade Cargill New Champs; John Cena Announces Tournament to Decide His Last Opponent
Two new champions were crowned this weekend during WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event streaming live on Peacock, while John Cena made a heart-stopping announcement as to just who and how he plans to figure out who he will wrestle in his final match on his retirement tour at the December 13th edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event from Washington D.C.
On the November 1st, SMNE, the four-card matchups served to resolve several key issues. Chief among them, who will be the WWE World’s Heavyweight Champion, now that Seth Rollins had to relinquish the title following injuring his shoulder in a match against Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel, With Rollins slated to be on the shelf for at least five to six more months following shoulder surgery, Saturday showed us how ‘Raw’ and ‘SmackDown’ will reset itself going into 2026.
Most notably, and in the main event, CM Punk defeated Jey Uso for the WWE championship, something that has alluded him ever since his return to the WWE almost two years ago this month, and because of Rollins’ deep-seated vendetta against him kept him from the belt. Clearly, Punk vs. Uso was the best match of the night, and “Main Event” Uso, delivered one of his best matches.

Photo: WWE
Now the question becomes, with no outside interference from The Vision and Paul Heyman, and Bron Breakker clearly positioned to be the next big thing, will Punk’s reign come to an end quickly? Meanwhile, does another heartbreaking loss finally cause Jey Uso to snap and this week, he becomes a full-fledged heel on ‘Raw?’ Stay tuned.
JADED
Then, Jade Cargill, who recently made her heel turn, finally defeated Tiffany Stratton to become the new WWE’s Women’s Champion. In a heart-tugging moment, following her victory, Jade made it to ringside where her daughter, husband (former MLB star, Brandon Phillips) and family greeted her with hugs and kisses as the new champ. Time will tell if this sets up the return of her former tag team partner, Bianca Belair, who has been out with injury as her next nemesis and opponent. Since Cargill arrived in WWE from AEW it had everyone buzzing, just how we would eventually get Bianca vs. Jade. Could it be in the works for WrestleMania 42?
RHODES RETAINS
In the opening bout, the Undisputed WWE Champion, the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes, faced the challenger in Drew McIntrye. Going into the match from ‘SmackDown,’ Cody agreed to McIntrye’s stipulation that he could be counted out or disqualified, and if so, the belt changes hands in favor of McIntrye.

Photo: WWE
Throughout the match, McIntrye did everything he could do try to make the ref disqualify Cody, or throw him outside the ring and smash him through tables to ensure he couldn’t beat the ten count back in the ring. In the end, it all failed. Rhodes remained world champion. Some had hopes that Rhodes’ run would end with a shocking win by McIntrye, but at this point, this feud needs to be over and both wrestlers need to move on to new feuds and opponents to freshen things up. Where’s Randy Orton? BTW.
DIRTY AND OH-SO-CLEVER
Dirty Dom Mysterio found a way to retain his Intercontinental Championship in his triple-threat match for his title against Rusev and Penta. Towards the end of the match Mysterio had grabbed timekeeper’s hammer and as he brought back into the ring, Penta grabbed it, and while attempting to hit Mysterio, he plummeted Rusev instead. That opened the door for Dirty Dom to execute a flog splash off the top rope on to Rusev to retain, and the uber-clever Mysterio’s title run continues.
Towards the end of the show, announcers Michael Cole and Wade Barrett teased an announcement from the GOAT, 17-time champ, John Cena. And when the pre-taped package featuring Cena was played it was a stunner! Since for months everyone has been wondering who Cena wants as the final opponent in his career in his final match of his retirement tour on SNME on December 13th, he revealed there will be a 16-man tournament to decide who it will be.
WHO WILL GO DOWN IN WRESTING HISTORY WITH JOHN CENA?
Cena hared thee will be legends, rising stars and even competitors from outside of the WWE universe. Those competing in the tournament will be from across all of WWE’s brand’s including Monday Night Raw, Friday Night SmackDown and NXT. However, John absolutely emphasized that the tourney would also be open to any wrestler who can earn a spot, even those who don’t currently work in the WWE.

Courtesy/WWE
That opens the door for a logical explanation of how, if the WWE can, and if it chooses to pull it off, bring back Adam “Edge” Copeland (who has been in AEW) to be Cena’s final opponent and he would go out facing one of the greatest foes of his legendary career.
The opening round begins on November 10 when ‘Raw’ emanates from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, near Cena’s hometown. The plan for now is for ‘Raw’ to feature eight of the sixteen competitors. Each match will be a single elimination and the winners move on to the next round which will be held on ‘SmackDown’ and then to NXT and so forth. If Cena’s tournament plays out well, it could be one of the most exciting moments in WWE history, especially if we get several surprise entrants along the way.
Overall, this rendition of Saturday Night’s Main Event could have used more excitement than just the announcement of how we will find out who John Cena will wrestle in his last match. The matches were sometime lackluster, although there were some bright spots. We grade it with a C.
So, how would you grade Saturday Night’s Main Event? Happy that CM Punk defeated Jey Uso, and Jade Cargill bested Tiffany Stratton? Who do you think will wind up to be John Cena’s final opponent at the end of the tournament? Weigh-in via the comment section below, but first check out some of the moments from last night’s card on Peacock.
Days Of Our Lives
DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Marlena Looks Back at 50 Years in Salem

The June 22 episode of Days of Our Lives reminded us all of why Deidre Hall is iconic in the role of Dr. Marlena Evans. Here we are 50 years later, and Marlena is still the heroine of the long-running soap opera, and Deidre remains one of the most most recognizable names in the history of soaps.
To pay tribute, and to look back at the life and times of Marlena, the story starts with Marlena flipping through a photo album of her with John (the late Drake Hogestyn) over the years. As she misses him dearly, she gets a knock on the door and its none other than John’s son, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean).
With Andrew (Colton Little) in Salem working on a case, he sits down with Marlena, who says she can’t believe its been fifty years since she first arrived in Salem! Cue: Deidre’s first scenes on DAYS when she finds Mickey Horton (the late John Clarke) playing chess against himself inside the mental institution she worked.

THE FLASHBACKS OF MARLENA’S LIFE
From there, viewers definitely got the cliff notes version of the history of Marlena and entrenched within them, some of the biggest moments in Deidre’s enduring run.
Paul thinks he is looking at 70s, and early 80s Marlena while going through her scrapbook, but he is actually looking at her twin, Samantha (Andrea Hall). Cue: when Marlena confronted Samantha about impersonating her, and then later getting a call on her radio show from the Salem Strangler (Jack Coleman as Jake Kostichek) who killed Samantha thinking it was Marlena.
In the present, Belle (Martha Madison) has arrived at this time to meet up with Paul, unaware of this trip down memory lane. She wants to go over the findings in the chess board mystery Stefano willed to Marlena and John, in private with him, since Marlena previously said she wanted nothing to do with it.
Back to the history lesson, Marlena speaks highly of Don Craig and even though their marriage didn’t work out, she could find a path forward with the new love her life, Roman Brady. (Wayne Northrop however is never shown, possibly to keep the story focused on John as Roman for confusion sakes?)
Paul sees a photo of a young Carrie (Christie Clark) in the album and Marlena says she was such a godsend after losing her baby. In fact, Marlena says caring for Carrie prepared her for her having and raising her own twins, Eric and Sami. Cue: The twin visiting Marlena in the hospital.
JOHN AND MARLENA’S LOVE CONQUERED ALL
Then, in a way to get through and incorporate the wild storylines only Marlena could have been in, she tells Belle and Paul, she has been through so much in her life, how lucky she was to find John, and some of the most unbelievable experiences no one could imagine. Cue: Marlena possessed by the devil and levitating from the bed. Next, John confronting Marlena being the Salem Stalker, where she admits she killed Alice Horton, pretends she needs help, then pulls a gun on her beloved John!
The comment is made by Paul and Marlena, that she literally has been to hell and back and she could not have survived were it not for her beloved John. Cue the big emotional highpoint clips; The Pier Scene! Marlena steps out of the fog when John sees her from a distance. After believing she was dead for four years, here she was before him in one of the greatest reunions in a soap opera love story in history. What followed were other times of the life of times of Jarlena.

MARLENA’S ‘GIFT’ FROM STEFANO HAS A NEW CLUE
When Marlena makes a brief exit to the other room, Belle fills in Paul on the chess set Stefano left her mother and the photo of the Lire. Paul said he will investigate. Marlena comes back into the room and overhears, and says to promise her if things get dangerous he will back off, she does not want anyone hurt by Stefano’s games.
As the episode comes to a conclusion, it’s just Belle and Marlena going through the photo album giggling about 70s hairstyles and all the memories. Belle speaks on the impact Marlena has had in everyone’s lives, and that she is both the heart of their family and the heart of Salem.
An end card comes up acknowledging Deidre Hall’s 50th anniversary as Marlena, and we fade to black.
So, what did you think of Marlena’s walk down memory lane? Were you happy to see the flashback clips utilized throughout? Were you touched by the scenes and the performance of Deidre Hall? Let us know what you thought of Deidre’s 50th anniversary episode via the comment section below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sidwell Surfaces; A Twist in Britt’s Condition

On the Thursday, June 18 episode of General Hospital, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) makes his shocking return right in Port Charles, after fleeing (thanks to Cassius) to supposedly parts unknown to escape capture for trying to kill Dr. Lucas Jones (Van Hansis).
How does he show up in town? First, Ezra (Daniel Cosgrove) gets a text from Jacinda (Paige Herschell) to meet in his hotel room. Ezra thinks the two are going to have a sexcapade so he puts champagne on ice for his favorite escort.
Suddenly, there is a knock at the door. Ezra’s excitement turns towards fear as instead of Jacinda, Sidwell is standing in front of him. Next, Sidwell blackmails Boyle telling him he has plenty of leverage he can use against him. Sidwell wants to use Ezra to help him takedown, Sonny (Maurice Benard), Lucas, Laura (Genie Francis) and Cullum.

ARE SIDWELL’S DAYS NUMBERED?
Meanwhile, Sonny confides in his brother, Ric (Rick Hearst). He says he knows who killed Marco an he is going to use that intel to lure Sidwell out of hiding. Sonny also shares he is going to kill Sidwell, and handle this by himself. He gave the PCPD a chance, but they failed to nab Sidwell for good and lock him up.
Sonny also has been tracking the whereabouts of Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) and Rocco (Finn Carr) through Brick, and learned they took a flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico, and then boarded a fairy to take them somewhere off the island.

BRITT’S ‘SYMPTOMS’ RETURN
Turns out, Britt and Rocco are hiding out in the British Virgin Islands. Britt set up Rocco with a burner phone and a VPN on her tablet, that is not traceable. Rocco reads on the tablet about Lucas’ shooting. Britt starts to have the shakes and passes out. When she comes to, Britt won’t let Rocco call a doctor, but he uses his phone to step on the balcony and call Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) and ask for help. Charlotte looks shocked to hear from her brother as Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) looks on!

However, Joe (Jonathan Bennett) could be the one to put two and two together! While at General Hospital and after questioning Lucas about a syringe he found that was in someone’s possession. the toxicology report showed traces of saline solution, not actual medication. He asks Dr. Jones, why someone would inject themselves with saline? Lucas responds saline is harmless and would have no effect on someone.
So, does this mean that this entire time, Britt has been led to believe that the medication she was taking to treat her Huntington’s disease was placebo? Has Britt been lied to into believing she is dying? Is something else wrong with her instead?
Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section below, and if you are ready for Sidwell to finally get his comeuppance from Sonny! But first, watch the scenes where Sidwell comes out of hiding and blackmails Ezra Boyle.
General Hospital
GENERAL HOSPITAL: Dante and ‘Nathan’ Have It Out, Valentin and Carly Share Passionate Moments Which May Be Their Last
On the June 16 episode of General Hospital, the PCPD under acting police commissioner Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) is in a bit of mess and does not go unnoticed by ADA Turner (Nazneen Contractor).
First, there is the whole Chase (Josh Swickard) defending Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) over Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot), who he arrested for allegedly tossing Willow in the waters next to the Quartermaine boathouse. Turner has had it with Chase’s good guy act and how he tampered with evidence in her case against Willow for shooting Drew.
Later, Dante and Justine question “Nathan” (Ryan Paevey) about Sidwell’s escape while in his custody. Turner is not buying his cover story that he was ambushed by Sidwell and his men. Once “Nathan” left the interrogation room, Turner went in on Dante about having “Nathan” on the force after seven years away, and Chase she views as a “dirty cop.”
However, Dante defends both of his officers, but Justine warned that “Nathan” and Chase’s behavior would reflect poorly on Dante as commissioner and she should really think about that. Later, Dante has a terse confrontation with “Nathan” on how he botched a prison transport and that he better watch his back as Justine is one step away from turning this over to Internal Affairs.
COP MADNESS
Next, “Nathan” apologizes for the way he handled the situation with Rocco and says he feels badly. But then in the twist, Dante said that he was grateful that “Nathan” had been there for his son in his time of need (referencing after Rocco shot Cullum and covered it up).
Then, there’s the newest police officer in the precinct, Joe Fitzpatrick (Jonathan Bennett). He may actually be on to “Nathan’s” double life when he questions him about a syringe found in Britt’s room at Bobbie’s. “Nathan” made up a story to counter Joe’s, that he was not aware that his sister was taking anything for her Huntington’s disease diagnosis. Joe called the forensic department lab wanting to know what drug was exactly in the syringe.

BEFORE YOU GO
At Carly’s (Laura Wright), Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) tells her that he must travel to Geneva to speak to the head of the WSB, named Z. Valentin feels it’s the only way to save Josslyn if he informs Z about Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) being a double agent. Valentin shares with Carly that he has to stop Cullum from bringing his dangerous cold fusion device online. Carly is beside herself. She doesn’t want Valentin to sacrifice himself by turning himself into the organization who has made him a fugitive in the first place. Valentin stands firm that he must meet Z in person.
Knowing that revealing himself to the WSB meant he was likely going back to prison, Valentin asked Carly if she’d get in touch with his daughter, Charlotte so he could say good-bye to her. Next, Carly and Valentin make their way to the bedroom to make love, which may be for the very last time, if Valentin is caught and put back in Steinmauer Maximum Security Prison.

CAUGHT BY CULLUM
At the same time while at Wydemere, Cullum is talking with one of his WSB operatives. Now, he is pondering if Valentin and Sidwell were working together all along. Next, Cullum entertains the idea of involving the FBI to locate Britt and Rocco. He says he plans to kill them both once he knows of their whereabouts. Cullum sees the only other threat to the completion of the cold fusion project to be Anna Devane.
Cullum wants to track the location of the unidentified person who called the private clinic in France trying to get in touch with Anna, while pretending to be Kevin Collins. When the agent came back with a report, he says it emanated from a cell tower near Shoreline Road. It’s in the that moment that a light bulb goes on for Cullum! Valentin is in Port Charles and hiding at Carly’s!
So, what do you think of the PCPD cops, Chase, Joe and “Nathan?” Who should Dante fire? Do you think Valentin will go the run?Are you digging Carly and Valentin’s relationship and want it to continue, especially with Finola Hughes on her way back as Anna next month on-screen? Weigh-in via the comment section, and in case you missed it, you can check out our latest interview with Dominic Zamprogna below from his appearance on the Michael Fairman Channel, where he talks the PCPD cops, Rocco on the run, and more.
