And here comes the drama we have all been waiting for! In next week’s promo for The Young and the Restless. it looks like an alive and talking Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) busts up Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon’s (Sharon Case) nuptials!  Or, does she?

Does Shick say their “I do’s”?  Does Phyllis make it to the church on time?  Is it all a dream?  Or, will everyone in Genoa City be in for the shock of their lives? And will Sharon’s deceitful paternity switch of who is the true bio-daddy of Summer (Hunter King) finally come to light?

In the new promo, Sharon screams and also says, “I don’t know what she knows” as a very well lit and stunning Phyllis stuns the attendees at Shick’s wedding, especially Jack (Peter Bergman)!

Watch the promo after the jump!  Then weigh-in!  Is it curtains for Shick?  Will Sharon’s wedding day become a nightmare? Or, will they the duo get hitched only to have trouble looming with the return of Phyllis?

YASSSS!!! Phyllis is back, with an official vengeance. I cannot wait to see Gina take Genoa City over right now; the show is so good right now.

I’m confused.

Which couple does Phyllis want to bust up? Nick and Sharon or Jack and Kelly.

Your not the only one. When Phyllis broke into Sharon’s home last week and found the traffic ticket she seemed to remember the accident so on that note I would say vengeance is towards Sharon. I don’t think she knows about Jack & Kelly yet. I don’t understand why it was important to sell the ring Jack gave her and buy a long white dress for the wedding. There we’re two fantastic parts that actually chocked me up. One was Nick when he walked down the isle and said “Lets do this” and the second was Mariah giving Sharon the blue stone necklace. I don’t care really if they get married or not . ‘Im a Shadam forever fan but I do hope that Nick realizes how sick Sharon was and that she did not start her med’s yet. Also she did everything to remember what the secret was.

yeah, it doesn’t make sense to me.

She is there to stop Nick and Sharon’s wedding– but the part that confuses me is — as a mother I don’t get why Nick and Sharon are her biggest concern. One would think after realizing how much time has gone by she would want to contact Summer as soon as possible. I’ve seen the wedding episode already, and she barely acknowledges her daughter– the only explanation I can think of is her coma and the those drugs to wake her must have scrambled her brains.

Probably both; Nick and Sharon because of what Sharon did over Summer’s paternity. And then Jack and Kelly because of her engagement to Jack.

Momma<

Phyllis is an over achiever–she wants to break up both couples. Also, the doctor told Victor that he has no idea what effect his prodigal will have on Phyllis's brain.
There's almost a Frankenstein monster element about her coming back to life. And right on time for Halloween too–my favorite holiday/

She is going to be so good! Can’t wait.

Finally, Genoa City is rockin’ again! Loved Gina busting the doors open at the church.
Such a Phyllys move! Then strutting down the aisle eyeing Cray-Cray Sharon.

And give an emmy to that Director, with the Extreme close ups of everyone when they saw Phyllis. Like American Horror Story. Nicky was priceless. She was like “Don’t get too close, it’s HD and I’m over 50!

I predict no one believes Phyllis about the paternity test switch cuz she just got out of a coma, she escapes a hospital for the second time and kidnaps Cray-Cray Sharon to the cabin where she took Jack to quit the pills.

But Cray Cray will get away with it, because electro schlock fried the memory of her pushing Phyllis down the stairs. Then Phyllis can make her suffer by stealing Nick back. Why is it every time these two do a girl slap fight someone ends up tumbling off! (RIP Drucilla).

But can we talk about Kelly’s hair! JFP, please bring Cady’s ATWT hairdresser to LA. Who told her she could pull off bangs with 20 extra pounds on camera? Love u, mean it! LOL.

Mark, I don’t think it will make a difference whether Phyllis is believed or not. Another DNA test will be had.

Ill forgive the spoiler if this makes Y&R great again!

That scene is not what actually real..
Sharon is dreaming that .. it is Sharon’s dream.. that is more than obvious..
So.. don’t get too excited that that will happen LOL 🙂 it will not happen..

It’s simply Sharon having another crazy attract ..

Or someone put something good in your coffee! Apology on the way if your right.

lol we’ll see..
Phyllis in that white dress bursting into the church, is all in Sharon’s crazy head ..

I hope it’s a dream. Phyllis was wearing a black dress so for her to suddenly be in white, it very well could be a dream.

But remember she went to the pawn shop to pawn the ring Jack gave her so she could have gone shopping but Mariah made a remark to Kevin about how nice the dress was so she must have bought it at Fenmore’s but how did that happen without Lauren seeing her?

Oops. Now I see what you’re saying, Su. I misread another post. I thought you meant Phyllis was dreaming. I get it…makes sense now. Thanks.

Nikki, I wondered why she pawned the ring. Of course, she can buy it back. What dress did Mariah say was nice?

Well, Phyllis was tooling around the Newman compound and no security recognized her so she could have been in Fenmore’s. Lauren may have been otherwise indisposed with her medically enhanced husbanc.

SU–saw today’s episode and you’re WRONG! But I bet you were happy to be wrong this time.
That was unexpected. Like you, I thought it was Sharon’s nightmare (she has a lot of those).
That was a black coat she was wearing over the white dress.
Great show today. Gina is already doing just a terrific job. The look of sinister determination on Phyllis’s face was powerful. Equally powerful was the look of abject fear washing over Sharon’s face. Well done.

SuOOOO I guess Sharon is still sleeping??? ha ha!

Don’t watch the show but caught a glimpse and had to say…I find the resemblance between Bold and Beautiful’s Hope (Kim Matula) and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) amazing! Anyone notice?

I know a WONDERFUL eye doctor dear..he takes care of cataracts and all that…including comparing a 40 year old woman to a woman in her 20’s…Oh MAGOO..YOU’VE DONE IT AGAIN..HEH HEH HEH

oh, davlestev1…I’ve only had a few dealings with you but you’re always so charming. By your logic two sisters can’t resemble each other, nor can mother and daughter, or for that matter…just any two human beings because one’s older. Thus, I guess there can be no resemblance at all between generations within families. With that said…not only does Gina still have a very young face (albeit she looks more mature with her darker hair and style)…but as a blonde with longer hair there is quite a resemblance. As a matter of fact, if you look her up from her younger OLTL days the resemblance, as I oh-so eloquently put it originally, is amazing!

Perhaps your eye doc can refer you to a specialist?

I don’t watch Bold and the Beautiful so I have no idea if there is resemblance between the two actresses. But I do agree with Rebecca that Gina could easily pass for a much younger woman. She looks great and is doing a great job so far as Phyllis.
She says so much with just an expression. That’s the mark of an excellent actor.

Oh, c’mon, now. I am in my 20’s but, more than one person (older) has told me I resemble a younger Bardot. The woman is well into her 80’s. Should I be insulted? I googled the actress and after seeing her images, I was extremely flattered.
Rebecca, I looked Kim up as well, and I DO see a slight resemblance.

Hey CeeCee!

I forgot; did you watch One Life To Live? That’s where the resemblance is very strong. If you’re ever curious look at some old footage from the 90s…I think that’s when Gina started…she was in her 20s, she had blonde hair…but their faces are sooooo similar! I don’t watch Y&R or B&B…but I was checking each out because some OLTL actors (as well as SK/AJ from GH) migrated over…that’s when I noticed “Hope.” Each time I see her I just keep seeing Gina’s character Kelly from OLTL.

LOL. No biggie. Funny how these comments take on a life of their own. (And we wonder why we can’t have world peace! 😉 )

No matter. I find it all the fuss amusing… 😉

I agree with you @rebecca1 that GT does look mature enough in the part now that she is on screen and i’m looking forward to this new/old version of Phyllis. But as far as KM on B&B goes..HONEY..the only person she remotely resembles is that weird kid on the Toaster Strudel commercials who just pops up in random people’s KITCHENS!!! It’s amazing you are sticking to your guns…but to each his/her own. I don’t see it.

Ya know what’s more amazing, davlestev1…that you just couldn’t say what you finally did “but to each his/her own. I don’t see it.” You should change your “name” to Snarky.

Dave can’t change his name to Snarky. That name is taken….by me!

Hey, have a little respect, dav

Don’t let them give you a hard time– I watch B&B and if you freeze this clip at about the twenty second mark, the head shot of GT in that moment does look a little like KM- around the eyes and the nose, very similar at that angle– also she is giving the character Sharon the same ticked off look KM’s character Hope gives Quinn– LOL.

Also you were inquiring about the poem I left Patrick on another thread– it is an original piece I wrote— it’s basic theme is not allowing outside forces we can’t control, to destroy what we can control– our inner most selves— I’m glad you liked it and hope it encourages him deal all the stuff life sometimes forces us to deal with whether we like it or not.

I write poetry too, Mary. Kudos to you. It was quite poignant and meaningful.

Thanks for the support but I’m not worried about Davey giving me his snarktiitude. LOL…It’s all good. Harry? Can we all call ya Snarky now? 😉

Oh my gosh who cares who she looks like would everybody please give everyone a break! Gosh almighty I have friends in the hospital family with mental issues and you soap fans are arguing ! Please stop agree to disagree and quit attacking each other! Stop the madness!

In other words if a soap is making you unhappy then stop watching! Go see The Big Lie ou home boy Thad Luckinbill/JT of Y &R is a producer and has a small part in it. It is wonderful movie and will make you realize how lucky you are. Very sad that Mr. Fairman has not had a thread on this!!!!

I had to go find your poem…loved it…my late great aunt Ida wrote poetry and had it published…i never got to meet her…she and her brother, my maternal grandfather passed before i was born!!!

k/kay– It is because the world is filled with so much stress and serious issues that a little lighthearted bantered on a soap thread is needed. Unfortunately it is hard to hear tone — I don’t believe anyone on this topic is arguing in a nasty way– just having some fun with each other– no in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter who looks like who, but if we can’t have a little fun now and them, what’s the point??

For me complaining about the soaps is stress relief, it keeps me sane in a world filled with so much sadness and my life filled with– well just say I have a full plate– as long as we can be respectful, stick to the topic as much as possible, try to give every one the benefit of the doubt that their intentions are not malicious, and remember as you said, this is not about life or death, just soaps, then some silly debates have their place too.

@ Mary I know I just get frustrated when I read someone saying another is blind or go read a book etc wears thin after a while. I think I will take a break for a while from reading the comments. I am getting too grouchy.:)

You may not consider dav’s comment nasty, Mary. But, i do….read between the lines, as it were. ‘Cataracts? Mr. Magoo? ‘ . If that’s not poking fun at the elderly, I don’t what is. I do not take lightly to ridiculing any poster…young, middle aged or senior.
None of us knows anything about rebecca, including her age. She could be 20, for all we know. That, however, is not the point. ……that being….show respect for each other, regardless of age, race or creed.
I think dav crossed the line with his little, big hints (oxymoron intended), and he should be brought to task by more than one person. Shameful. He/she hides behind the advantage of anonymity. What does that make him/her? If I am to be reprimanded by Mr. Fairman….sobeit.

@CeeCee- you make some valid points but I honestly don’t believe in this case they apply for two reasons

1. The moderator of this site allowed the comment, if they felt dav was being mean or nasty to rebecca, the elderly, or the blind I doubt the comment would have been allowed. The moderators on this site have a difficult job of balancing between free speech and protecting Mr. Fairman’s visitors to his site. I for one think there are doing a fine job and thank them for their efforts.
2. rebecca 1 took no offense to the comment. She responded in humor and the whole tone of her exchange with the poster was like a brother and sister teasing one another. I usually try to take my cue from the person who the comment was directed to, when joining a conversation that wasn’t directed at me. In my perception her tone gave me the impression this was a harmless exchanged and not a mean spirited attack

And that is why I was completely surprised that first kay then you read such a negative intention behind what was at most a failed attempt at humor, as harry has pointed out.

Mary SF…LOL…I have to start this with a smile because my slight observation of two actresses resembling each other really did grow exponentially…and has become like the game Telephone or Operator. Anyone play that? One person says one thing and by the time it gets to the last person it takes on a whole new meaning??? I think that’s sorta what happened here.

In CeeCee’s defense, I actually did think Dav’s original comment was, at the risk of being ad nauseatingly redundant…snarky. He does have a way of responding rather snidely. I wasn’t offended because as said, sight unseen these are not personal physical attacks regarding someone’s looks/age, etc… but I did think it rather snippy! But I respond quite well snip for snip! 😉 At the same time, I don’t think he was intending to be ageist…on the other…hmmmm…why can’t a 40 year old look like a 26 year old unless one’s implying the older is well…too old to resemble a younger person. Sigh. Sooooooo complicated!

On the other hand, I totally get why you read this as a fun, good-natured exchange. I think it became one…not necessarily between Dav and I since he never came back to the post…but I chose to reply with humor as did you, (Mary SF) and Harry.

So! Let’s all move on…even though THERE IS A RESEMBLANCE!!!! 😉 I stand by that!

Cheers!

Believe me, rebecca…been there, done that on more than one site. It is amazing how one comment takes a life of its own with other posters jumping on it just to be mean. But, more than that, your comment gets embellished and completely off subject. I always try to be respectful, especially since I sense I am in the minority….I was raised to respect my elders…problem is, only to a certain point. I bite back, albeit within the perimeters of politeness.
Yes, I am very familiar with Gina Tognoni. I watched OLTL for years….until the end…one of my favorite soaps, alive with my favorite characters. Did you know Melissa Archer is going to DOOL? She and Kassie will be reunited…hope on the same side. LOL.
You are absolutely right. I did look back at images…Gina definitely resembles Kim.
No matter, rebecca…we’ll keep on watchin’ and ignore stone throwers.

Still a cutie you are, CeeCee.

!!!!!!!!! I HOPE someone is watching Y&R right now! Gina just burst in with her lil blonde bob…I am telling you…LOL..it is the same face!!!!! (as Hope/B&B). Just had to say it again…I just cannot fathom how anyone can’t see it. And it’s just an observation that is freaking me out because to me it’s so obvious I thought I’d be the pied piper of this post with trillions of soapsters across the globe shouting in unison…by golly she’s RIGHT!!!!!

hahahha…I need to contact the producers and get them side by side.

On a side note, maybe Dav…is right about getting specs. I could’ve sworn she burst into the room in blonde hair but fainted in darker hair. Huh. 😉

Golly, rebi, YOU’RE RIGHT. ….!!!!LOL

Ah, Dave was just kidding. One can’t hear one’s tone of voice or see one’s expression when communicating online so sometimes a lot can be lost in translation. I know my jokes go THUD online quite often and so I have to temper my jokes accordingly. I didn’t think he was being offensive and they worked out their slight misunderstanding–no harm, no foul.
And I happen to adore Mr. Magoo–just the thought of him makes me smile.
And Rebecca, I agree–Gina is knocking it out of the ballpark. Today’s show provided so much needed, good quality escapism.

I for one hope she get’s a new love interest enough of the Nick & Jack nonsense ! Maybe involve her in the Avery, Dylan & Joe triangle they could use a shot in the arm!

k/kay…an idea: I think that Joe and Phyllis should HOOK-UP!!!!! I mean…I’d rather watch a Joe/Phyllis pairing than a Avery/Dylan/Joe/Phyllis quadrangle. Furthermore, I think that Scott Elrod and Gina Tognoni would have such A-M-A-Z-I-N-G on-screen chemistry together. Again, just an idea……….

Jaybird I agree with you buddy, Joe and Phyllis would be hot together. Scott Elrod is a hot hot man, I need to take a cold shower. LOL. Even my boyfriend thinks he is a hot hot dude, but i am cute and addorable too.

Yeeessss, Jaybird. I have been saying this all along. When, Scott finally appeared, I almost passed out….he looks so much like my husband, I wanted to reach into the TV set and touch him. Well, my husband is younger and has more hair…LOL
I hope Phyllis and Joe get together and leave everyone in their dust.

Be thankful we have that instead of that damn music box story that never ends.

And– they had the great Triston for that story and wasted him by not writing good drama for the actor..
they had him locked in an attic doing nothing and chasing Jill around looking like a senile duffer .. lol what a shame Y&R can not write gripping drama..

Once again, I find myself agreeing with Su00 (I blame climate change).
The material they kept handing Tristan Rogers was redundant, dull and badly written. He IS so good. There was a scene which involved Lauren, Jill and Michael–Tristan was barely a bleep on the radar screen. But when he was allowed to utter a line or two, he just lit up the screen and made me chuckle.
He’s funny, naturally charismatic and so talented.
Time and time again, I’d see Colin, in the park (they tend to put characters in the park when they don’t know what else to do with them) speaking to some loan shark henchman. Then his son would spy on the transpirings between the two men, to which Colin would respond, “Don’t worry about your old man, I got it covered.” Repeat, rinse, repeat and rinse.
Tristan deserves so much better. He is a waste of a natural resource.

Lol, Nikki.

I agree. Maybe once she sees that Nick never went to see her in the hospital and Jack said goodbye for Kelly, she’ll find someone else but whoever it is I believe G.T. will deliver.

I think she will, k/Kay. I am hoping Joe will be her new love…what a hunk !

Hi CeeCee,

More and more, you crack me up…LOL!!!!! Thank You. IMO, Scott Elrod is an example of what a REAL SOAP HUNK is supposed to look like…H-E-L-L-O!!!!! BTW, CeeCee…I think that you’re a VERY LUCKY GIRL…I mean…being married to a fella who is Italian. H-E-L-L-O!!!!! One final thing: Is your husband originally from Italy? Just wondering.

Take care, CeeCee.

A-C-E-S!!!!!

You are so right, k/Kay. We need a slap in the face sometimes to wake us from the infantile behavior. There are very important and vital issues surrounding our world…..our families.
But, when someone is disrespectful, it is very hard to ignore. Rebecca made an innocent comment, but that other person decided to slam her for it.
Nevertheless, hats off to you for speaking up. You are, of course, the voice of reason. Pax

No, jaybird. My husband is a Bostonian. His mother and grandparents are originally from Italy. Theirs is a very traditional Italian household.
Scott Elrod emanates charm. But, you know, jaybird? We all admire beauty, but it really is the beauty inside that makes someone special. With these characters, we can only base our opinions on what we see externally and on their behavior on stage, which, in fact, is directed by others. Am I making sense?
You seem very bubbly….it is very infectious, and that says a lot to me.
Thank you. I like you too. Later.

Hi CeeCee,

Thank you for clearing it up for me. Furthermore, you make PERFECT SENSE!!!!! I (also) admire beauty but I think that beauty on the inside is WAY MORE IMPORTANT. And, yes…I am bubbly. Well, I try to be anyway. Yes.

Take care, CeeCee. Peace.

I agree with you 100%. I did not like Phyllis at the beginning. But now? I just absolutely adore her. That’s not to say I don’t like Sharon because I do. I don’t want to give that impression. She is still so beautiful, isn’t she?
Yes, she has a mental disease…but, I think she knows what she did…the only redemption for her now, is to tell Nick, and I hope he forgives her.
Also, k/Kay, thanks for clearing the name Cole up. I don’t know why I said Jake…another character? Anyway, Nikki is not my favorite character…you describe her misdeeds, along with Victoria’s to perfection.
Many like Mariah….but, at this time, I do not. I am sure I eventually will. She is a young woman mad at the world for her misfortune. I cannot blame her for her anger. The time will come when both Sharon and she will embrace their bond as mother and child. I hope it is soon because IMO, they will save each other.

CeeCee…

I just wanted to give you a gentle nudge to the responses I wrote to you. (In case you didn’t see them.) One is on the GH post re the age thing…and the other is on this page to you and Mary SF.

Thank you, rebecca. I will read the ones I’ve missed.

I love Shick!

BTW Did anyone notice how nice Nick looked? He got a shave & a haircut and man he looks like his old handsome self even though I still prefer Shadam to Shick. I never thought anyone could take Phyllis’s place but boy can Gina T. act the part. I thought she was great.

She’s ok we shall see. Sometimes she looks like she’s acting.

Gina is a wonderful actress. When Gina read for the part of Phyllis, the producers were blown away. They loved Gina right away and she fit in as the new Phyllis. Gina won 2 daytime emmys for her work on guiding light. She played Dinah Marler.

Claudio,

Hey, dude!!!!! Listen…what am I…chopped liver??? LOL!!!!! I (also) am cute and adorable. Furthermore, I am blunt, no-nonsense and VERY FIERCELY LOYAL to people that I care about. Yep.

Take care, Claudio.

A-C-E-S!!!!!

Unlike Nikki, I cannot get chocked up about anything concerning this re-run of a wedding. Whether Sharon remembers what her unforgivable actions created or not, should be of no consequence. The truth should come to light….it is the right thing to have happen for everyone concerned.
I lost count, in the 14 years I’ve been watching this show how many times these two have been on and off again and again.
I find it infinitely disgusting how Nick can have sex and share a bed with a woman who slept with his own father….that’s show biz? Yuck.
Concerning Phyllis? I think her brain is behind a few years…perhaps pre-Summer…I think I’m somewhat confused because she herself is confused. Didn’t Su say that it is all a dream Phyllis is having?
I also think that Mariah is starting to warm up to Sharon by presenting her with the blue ankle bracelet. I think Sharon will need all the support she can get, especially from Mariah, when everything blows up in her face.

I agree but I think they all need to remember Sharon is sick and was not on her med’s at the time. When Jack said he could have turned to drugs again but didn’t because of Summer I think maybe Phyllis will keep it all going the way it is. Having Jack be the daddy to help Jack and hold this over Sharon’s head as blackmail to see if she really did forget what happened. I get annoyed with Nikki who is a drunk, poll dancer, stripper, Victoria who has been married how many times not to mention all her affairs and yet these two are always putting Sharon down. Maybe it’s living with that family day after day that drove Sharon to the brink.

You forgot one more thing about Nikki; Nikki…lol
Nikki cheated with Jake, her daughter’s husband. What does that make her…a sleaze? A trollop? A she-dog in heat? A woman without morals?

I blame this all on Victor I am saying the marriage etc. Where were his brains Sharon was like a daughter to him and he married her twice. May not be a fan of JFP but the destruction of Sharon is all on MAB. Now we have brought her snotty twin daughter in the story to dump on her. As for Victoria this is the second whose the baby story. Victoria and Nikki have shared Cole Howard, Brad Carlton & Deacon Sharpe. As for Phyllis well that will take a book to write all her sins. Bottom line they all have flaws it is a soap. Summer sure has had a bad year two dads to buy her cars! Boo Hoo Tough Life!

Forgot to add didn’t Victoria blackmail Chelsea to keep quit about Adam being the father of Conner. Oh and let’s not forget Nikki killed her father, a childhood friend and Dianne Jenkins. As for Mariah maybe Kevin will lock her in a freezer and set fire to the building. Remember Colleen? The list goes on and on and yet for a solid year all we have heard about is Sharon changing DNA tests. As for Victor checking on Faith’s parentage stupid much HE is the one who had the tests run when she was a baby because they thought it was Ashley’s & his child. MORON!!!!

Oh yes I forgot about that one. Sharon need to start throwing some of these things back at them. Just look at Victoria. She has no idea who the father to the baby is. She claims to have gone with Stitch because Billy went with Kelly but Billy only slept with Kelly once, Victoria through him out then slept with Stitch how many times but she continued to hammer Billy over Kelly while sleeping with Stitch. I wish Billy would go and stay with Chelsea, fight for Johnny and tell Victoria where to go.

CeeCee your right about Nikki. Now that I remember about Jake, I’d say a sleaze added to the list.

Oh I couldn’t agree more. Victor is always saying everything he does he is doing for his family but he has caused more dirt around town than anyone. He use to look at Sharon like a daughter. When Nick was with Phyllis he hired both Nick & Sharon to work together in some scent job, hoping they would get together. As far as I’m concerned he, Nikki, Victoria and Abby (the naked harlot) need to treat Sharon better and apologize to her. These idiots we’re born into money and Nikki would still be stripping & poll dancing without Victor & his money.

I want to see the look on Mariah’s face when Victor comes back and gives her the news that Faith is Nick’s daughter. Although I love Mariah I want to see her forgive and get closer to Sharon. As for Phyllis she is no saint.

Today’s performance , by Hunter King, was the best to date.

OMG Noooooooo enough of Summer. Please she has been on every day. Day after day pouting, crying feeling sorry for herself. Today was nothing more than a repeat performance that we’ve seen for close a year now. Please to the powers that be how about just one show a week without her?

Lol, Nikki. I said today’s performance….not past performances. What I mean is, she genuinely demonstrated her joy and shock in seeing her mother. Summer was very believable today, compared to her ‘ pouting’ self. IMO she did an excellent job.
What I don’t get is her marriage to Austin. What is the purpose of this character? Is this Constance character a link?

I wonder…did Sharon run from the church because she remembered something?

So tired of Phyllis being the “golden” girl. She’s done worse things than Sharon & she doesn’t have an illness. In my opinion, Sharon has a good heart & Phyllis is only interested in what she wants! I realize Phyllis has a lot of fans, & I’ll probably get a lot of flack for saying this.

No flack, Barbara. You should say what you feel. Your opinion is just as valid as anyone else’s. I am first and foremost a Michelle Stafford fan, not Gina Tognoni’s. I am familiar with her work, but I am not a diehard fan. This site is for everyone, and I, for one like exchanging opinions. It makes the site much more interesting than everyone agreeing with each other.
I think, fans of Phyllis have forgiven and forgotten the nasty stuff she pulled in the past. It was years ago. In contrast, Sharon’s craziness is still too fresh in our minds. So, the paternity switcharoo doesn’t sit well with a lot of us.
Nonetheless, Sharon still has a large following.

Please Michelle Stafford come back to Y&R. Gina is a wonderful actress. I loved her on Guiding Light and OLTL but She is not Phyllis. I was so disappointed when they got rid of Adam. I know he was fired so he will not be back. They will have a lousy replacement like they did with the Billy character. I guess we have to wait and see.

Christel Khalil Reveals She Almost Quit Acting After ‘That’s So Raven’ Audition, But Then Came ‘The Young and the Restless’

The Young and the Restless fan favorite, Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) is the special guest on this week’s edition of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart which dropped today on Tuesday, June 23rd.

During the interview with Rebecca and Greg, Khalil who had played Lily Winters on-screen since August of 2002, nearly 24 years with the CBS soap, shared how early on her teenage acting career, she was ready to call it quits in show business, after a heartbreaking audition for the lead of a new Disney Channel sitcom, which later turned out to be the hit seres, That’s So Raven, starring Raven-Symoné which ran for four seasons from 2003-2007.

Christel recalled what happened. “I was 14 and I had always auditioned for all these Disney projects. So I auditioned for That’s So Raven, it was between me and Raven-Symoné and it was called at the time Absolutely Psychic,” explained Khalil. “The character was this girl who had psychic ability, but then when Raven got the role, they named the title of the show after her.”

HOW A BROTHERLY TALK CHANGED THE COURSE OF CHRISTEL’S CAREER

Reliving the disappointment to Greg and Rebecca, Christel explained, “I lost that part and I was just so devastated, because for the network call there were 20 people in the room watching me, and I just have always had such performance anxiety. I just completely bombed the audition and it was terrible. So, I was just devastated. I was actually going to quit acting and then I got the final call for The Young and The Restless and I wasn’t going to go.”

It was Khalil’s brother, who actually got her to reconsider, and if he hadn’t, we would not have our Lily Winters in Genoa City! Christel recounted, “I was like, ‘You know what? I’m done. I don’t want to do this anymore. I’m just going to hang out with my friends.’ I was just devastated. My brother, who is seven years older than me, and he had quit acting at the same age that I was at that time. He said to me, ‘I promise you, I actually really regret quitting. Just go on this audition and if you don’t get it, you can quit.'”

Christel’s screen-test for the role of Lily was actually with the late, great, Kristoff St. John who would play her father Neil (Later it was revealed to Lily, that Neil’s brother, Malcolm Winters was her bio-dad).

ACTING WAS EASY WITH THE LATE KRISTOFF ST. JOHN

“So, I went (to test for Lily) and I remember the screen-test was with Kristoff St. John. It was just so easy to act with him because he’s just so there. I remember just being on set, and that was my first time there for a screen-test where you were actually on set. I had never experienced that before. It was my first time being with an actor and  having makeup done, which just helps you really be able to do your best work.”

Recalling the screen-test with the St. John, Khalil, “It was where I had to be emotional ( in the scene) and I always had issues being emotional at auditions. But I was there with him, it just came, and it happened. It was natural and I felt so good and it was amazing. It stands out in my mind a lot.”

Deidre Hall Marks 50 Years as ‘Days of Our Lives’ Dr. Marlena Evans

If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.

It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.

In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.

DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.

Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

THE LOVES OF MARLENA

Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.

TOP MARLENA STORYLINES OF ALL-TIME

While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!

The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.

The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.

The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.

In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.

It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.

THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA

In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)

In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.

Tune-in to Days of our Lives on the Monday, June 22 episode as Marlena looks back at her 50 years in Salem.
