Y&R’s Anthony Morina & Josh Griffith Issue Statement on Casting of Sasha Calle as new ‘Supergirl’

Photo: JPI

Anthony Morina (EP) and Josh Griffith (Co-EP and Head Writer) of The Young and the Restless have issued a joint statement on the casting of Sasha Calle as the new ‘Supergirl’ in the upcoming DC Universe film, The Flash.

Y&R discovered Calle for the role of Lola Rosales on the CBS daytime drama series, where she became an integral part of the Latino family drama in Genoa City.

Morina and Griffith shared: “On behalf of everyone at The Young and the Restless, we’d like to congratulate Sasha Calle on making history and being chosen to play the first Latina ‘Supergirl’. The role of ‘Supergirl’ is a perfect fit for someone of Sasha’s immense talent and we wish her all the best as she takes on this groundbreaking role.”

The two executives do not however address at this juncture what will happen to the role of Lola, when Calle steps away from the role.  Will they recast Lola, or write her out?

Let us know if you think the show should recast Lola, and your thoughts on the joint statement congratulating Sasha from Tony and Josh in the comment section below.

i don’t think she should be recast or written out! have her move to florida to help her mom who has become ill and have her come back again in the future!

Here’s what I think If the role of Lola Rosales is being recast I would Lola Rosales go in a different direction I would like to see Lola Rosales make a change from being a business owner of a restaurant to become a successful fashion designer in the corporate world and have a romance with Theo Vanderway or a returning existing character or a new character or you can put Sasha Calle off contract and put Sasha Calle on recurring staus

I agree!!

She doesn’t need to be written out. She’s hardly on screen now and doesn’t have her own story. Lola can just be in the kitchen. That’s all.

Exactly! They screwed up her story line a long time ago.

I would take Lola over Phyllis 2.0 (the other red)!

I would love to see Young and the Restless recast Lola Rosales in a new direction and maybe work together with Phyllis and take over the hotel

When I first saw the headline, I thought “YES” they’ve finally fired Griffith! Then I finished reading the headline and got so disappointed. This is literally the worst this show has ever been. I’ve watched since 1990. It is even worse than the Lynn Marie Latham destruction of 2007 and all the subsequent writers. While there have been a few bright spots and moments (although fairly rare) since 2008, this is the absolute travesty. Boring. Boring. Boring. There’s almost no conflict (and what little there is I could care less about); it is 100% directionless and spends too much time on characters I could care less about. Does Josh Griffith even watch the drivel he pours from the screen? CBS must be the dumbest network to allow what was once a brilliant show be reduced to something so terrible, I would rather have a blind dog be the head writer.

These two fools need to go, they are ruining Y&R Funny that they WILL NOT talk about why they let Donny Boaz go, a horrible decision, CBS please get rid of these fools PLEASE! Bring someone else to rock Y&R. It’s NOT rocking, it is boring with the same storylines from 2010. The cast deserves better, the Adam storyline is so 2005, it’s 2021.

In TOTAL agreement!

Run don’t walk never look back and Congrats! I hear the newest trick these two bozo’s are pulling is a romance with PB who is 67 and CH who is 30! Yes we all want to watch a old man a long time vet come off as a dirty old man ! Ugh ! Now Bergman talk your way out of this crap you know years ago when you wanted no part of the storyline with having a son Keemo

And yet Doug Davidson who portrayed Paul Williams for over 40 years was shown the door ! P

Doug Davidson reduced on YR is almost getting me to not watch. What I would do is have the Vets in play 2-3 times a week with their offsprings. Paul needs his daughter back. There really is no reason why YR had to reduce Paul. Nick looks bored in his scenes. Even though Sharon has a lot going on. Her Marriage with Rey is not a priority for her. I think that YR should recalibrate. Sasha will do great. Every new actor that has left YR did better on their own, than if they stayed. MM as Amanda is the only exception.

The Adam and Chelsea story is creepy, the writers are making Sharon look pathetic and the worst mother in history. If anyone else gets fired, please make it Victoria!

I feel the show should recast Lola Rosales even though Sasha Calle has been cast as Supergirl I think The Young and the Restless should take Lola Rosales in a new direction by either reuniting with Theo or ex Kyle or reunite Lola with a existing character by bring back to the canvas or reunite Lola with a new character I want The Young and the restless find an actress the same way they find Sasha to search for a Latina actress in the recast of Lola Rosales on the Young and the restless I hope that comes true if that’s possible but it’s up to the producers and writer of the Young and the Restless Thank you

Lola should not be written out! Love the character. Hope she returns and with Sasha Calle in the role. The show just better have a good storyline waiting for her!

Days of our Lives Star, Greg Vaughan, Gives Health Update and Thanks Everyone for Their Support

Greg Vaughan (Eric, Days of our Lives, ex-Lucky, GH, and ex-Diego, Y&R) provided an update on his health on Sunday, March 17th. Vaughan had previously shared that he had become ill during a trip with his sons to Colorado, and had developed altitude sickness when he was having trouble breathing accompanied by terrible headaches and landed in the urgent care.

Now on St. Patrick’s Day, Greg took to his Instagram and shared how he is feeling now, and to thank everyone for their love and support.  As it turned out, Vaughan was diagnosed with high altitude pulmonary edema, commonly known as HAPE. However, he is on the mend slowly and surely.

In his new video post, the DAYS favorite started by expressing, “I just felt such an appreciation and gratitude for everything. . reaching out. Your prayers have been felt. It’s been a struggle, but I’m over the top. And, taking this moment just to say I didn’t realize the things that I was going through. My (original) post was simply just to educate, put some information out there and some things that I was feeling, just share that information and the struggle that I was going through, which I didn’t quite understand. And it wasn’t because I’m stubborn or just because I’m a father, a man, and didn’t want to go to a doctor. It is just something I thought was so minor that I could overcome it, just by taking care of myself.”

The Daytime Emmy winner then revealed his actual diagnosis, “So, basically my situation was high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE). With some good friends, doctors that had reached out to me, it kind of gave me some understanding on the aftermath, which was very, very beneficial.”

“But I’ve been resting, taking care of myself even though I live in a hamster wheel,” said the dad of three teenaged boys. “I gotta get up and, you know, do my normal domesticated stuff, eventually. I’m tired of laying down in this bed, but, I am feeling much better.”

Talking on his confusion of trying to understand what could have been ailing him, Vaughan expressed, “I couldn’t quite figure it out, even though I was emphasizing and professing to my children going on our spring break getaway about hydration. I professed it. But, even though I was acting on it, it had a greater effect on me, and for which I did not even think, because my head was such in pain, and I was in a very bad state of mind – not being able to be out there with my kids on the mountain, enjoying their time, as well. I thought I was doing the right thing. Unfortunately, my lungs were full of fluids and my head was in severe pain and even migraine pills didn’t even help. So, I just want anybody that goes into the Colorado Mountains to know, it is no joke. It is this very serious thing which I guess is why they call it the Mile High City.”

Greg had a mountain of ‘thank you’s’ to give for the outreach he received from his original post, “For everybody internationally, wherever you are, I love you and I appreciate you and just the time and the thoughts that you’ve shared with me,” said Vaughan. “I didn’t realize that it would make such an impression on so many people around the world. I feel tremendously loved and I can’t say it enough. I’m good. And I appreciate you.”

The actor concluded his video with, “To all the family and friends that have reached out to me, man, it means the world. So take care of yourself, enjoy your spring break with your families. It’s Saint Patty’s Day, obviously. I wish I could be out there.” Vaughan added, “I feel loved and touched and I can’t emphasize that enough. I’ll take better care of myself, promise you will do the same.” Before he signed off, Greg shared, “Just know, that I’m alive and well and breathing, and I’m sore. So, be well, take care. I mean it. Thank you, tremendously.”

Glad to know that Greg has been on the mend, and shared his appreciation for everyone that reached out to him during this trying time? Comment below.
