Y&R’s Melody Thomas Scott Talks Harrowing Childhood, Growing Up In Hollywood, Nikki’s Storylines

This week, The Young and the Restless’ iconic, Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) new memoir, Always Young & Restless: My Life on and Off off America’s #1 Daytime Drama,” from Diversion Books, is available everywhere.

For everyone that follows Melody, this book has been several years in the making with some starts and stops, but in it she does not hold back and reveals some very painful details and moments from her upbringing when she was raised by her unstable grandmother and more.

Melody also talks about reuniting with her estranged father when he suddenly awoke from his coma while she was by his side.  Throughout her lengthy career in Hollywood, Melody has worked with some of the greats including: Clint Eastwood, Brian DePalma and Alfred Hitchcock.

Now in a conversation with Michael Fairman on The Michael Fairman Channel on You Tube, Melody opens about her decision on the stories she told in the books, her favorite and least favorite storylines as Nikki on Y&R, working with Eric Braeden (Victor) and the entire company of the CBS daytime drama where she has been for over 40 years, and how she hopes her memoir might help others; including those stage moms and children considering life in front of the camera and more.

Josh Swickard and Laura Wright Talk GH’s 60th Anniversary, Nurses’ Ball & The Loss of Beloved Colleagues

Today, we celebrate the incredible milestone of ABC’s General Hospital officially turning 60-years-old.  The soap debuted on this day on April 1,1963.

Two of the series current stars: Josh Swickard (Chase) and Laura Wright (Carly) chatted with Michael Fairman earlier this week for a conversation on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel.

Josh and Laura share what it has meant to be part of such an iconic television show, plus the two actors recall their GH  ‘audition’ stories, and who took them under their wing when they came to the GH set for the first time.

In addition, with the GH Nurses’ Ball returning next week, Josh teases what number he might sing when Chase takes the Nurses’ Ball stage, and if Chase will repair his relationship with Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) during the episodes.

Laura looks into what the future of Carly’s relationship with Drew (Cameron Mathison) might look like, and both actors express their sadness on the tragic and sudden death of their beloved producer, Nneka Garland, earlier in the week, as well as the recent passing of cast member Sonya Eddy (Epiphany) and the tribute episode that GH just aired in her honor.

(WATCH) Y&R 50th Anniversary Party Red Carpet Interviews Part Two

This past Sunday, The Young and the Restless officially turned 50! Hard to believe that 5 decades of love, lust, intrigue and familial drama has passed since the series debuted on CBS back on March 26, 1973.

A little less than two weeks ago, many of the stars of Y&R, past and present, gathered together at a memorable celebration in honor of this milestone, when Y&R, CBS and Sony threw a big bash for the show at the Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles.

Michael Fairman TV was on the red carpet conducting interviews with the cast in attendance and special guests. We previously posted part one of our red carpet interviews here.

(WATCH THE REPLAY) Y&R 50th Anniversary Celebration Livestream

Congratulations are the order of the day for the cast, crew, and creatives, past and present, as The Young and the Restless turns 50 this Sunday.

The show debuted back on March 26, 1973 as a half-hour soap, before CBS wanted it to to an hour in 1980.  Through the years, viewers have watched the loves, lives, and the drama of the citizens and key families of Genoa City.  Y&R was co-created by the late William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell, and Bill remained as head writer of the series until 1998.

To mark the golden anniversary, You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel, welcomed several Y&R cast members this past Friday for a special livestream conversation touching upon their time on the iconic daytime drama series.

Sharing stories on: their auditions to land their roles on Y&R, some of their memorable storylines, who helped them the most when they first came to the show, remembering the dearly-departed grand dame of Genoa City, Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor), and more were: Jess Walton (Jill), Tracey Bregman (Lauren), Christian LeBlanc (Michael), Jason Thompson (Billy), Scott Reeves (ex-Ryan), Tricia Cast (Nina) and Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea).
