Courtney Hope Coming to The Young and the Restless
The Bold and the Beautiful’s loss will be The Young and the Restless’ gain. After a photo surfaced of Courtney Hope wearing and holding some Y&R swag on her Instagram post, the actress expressed: “This seems like a good fit.” It left fans wondering just what was going on with the sort of cryptic message.
Hope recently was let-go at B&B when she was written-off the show again, after delivering some very powerful performances in her last storyline.
As it turns out, and according to Daytime Confidential confirmation was made by the Y&R publicity department, and it is true that Hope will soon be in Genoa City.
As for what character, Hope will play and when she might hit the airwaves is yet to be known.
Now the question is: Will Courtney resurrect her role as Sally Spectra in Genoa City… or will she play a new character?
Let us know who you hope Courtney will be playing on Y&R when she turns up on the CBS Daytime drama series via the comment section below.
Colour me surprised by this casting. There are definitely possibilities for who she could be playing, and while I am interested, I am concerned she is at the hands of Anthony Morina and Josh Griffith. My one hope is that she is used for her talent, because she has been wasted on The Bold and the Beautiful since her debut.
Completely agree
I’m guessing Phyllis is suddenly going to remember she had a baby she put up for adoption years ago and that daughter is coming to Genoa City to ruin her life and steal her man.
This is a GREAT idea!!! Please indulge me for a moment as I’m feeling creative……………
When Phyllis showed up, she was hellbent on landing Danny and used her pregnancy to snag him. I’ve always thought there was some plot potential in Phyllis’ backstory (beyond the lame story we got with Avery/Phyllis about the father ripping folks off).
Danny was a well-known singer when Phyllis set her sights on him. It could be written that young Phyllis had a thing for musicians and, prior to Danny, the college-aged Phyllis was madly in love with another musician. Lydia Summers, Phyllis mother (now played by red-headed soap veteran Kathleen Noone), did not approve of Phyllis being involved with a man that she believed was beneath Phyllis and likely to hurt her future. Lydia hounded Phyllis to break it off with the guy. In the meantime, Phyllis became pregnant and refused to terminate the pregnancy. Lydia informed Phyllis that, if she did not end the relationship and get rid of the baby that she (and the father — who had no knowledge of what was going on) would not financially support her in college. A reluctant Phyllis gives the infant daughter up for adoption. Meanwhile, the scheming Lydia (Phyllis has to get these traits from someone!) tells the clueless musician that Phyllis doesn’t love him, informing him that she got rid of his child as evidence of Phyllis’ lack of feelings.
The angry musician won’t listen to Phyllis’ explanations about what happened and dumps. Phyllis then informs her mother that she wants nothing to do with her and is cutting her out of her life. Meanwhile, the father is involved in his shady business dealings. The scheming Lydia uses this situation to explain to devoted daughter Avery why Phyllis is gone — Lydia reveals the shady business stuff to law enforcement but makes it look like Phyllis did this.
Twenty years later, when Avery arrived in town, Phyllis realized her sister’s inaccurate knowledge of things but, as Avery had a good relationship with the parents, went along with it to spare Avery from all the friction she herself had with Lydia (Notice that we NEVER saw Lydia in the pathetic story of the father a few years ago).
Meanwhile, a new red-head (Courtney Hope) arrives in town and get a job at Sharon’s coffee shop. Likewise, Lydia has come to town in an effort after all of these years to reconnect with Phyllis (maybe with the encouragement from an off-screen but clueless Avery) and get to know her grandchildren. Phyllis really isn’t interested but Jack encourages her to make amends (“Don’t waste the years like we did with Dina”). A supportive Jack hires Lydia to run his family’s charitable organization, the Abbott Foundation, and encourages Daniel to come back to town to get to know Lydia. Daniel, who now is split from Heather, moves back. In the midst of this, he becomes chummy with the red-head. For once, Phyllis approves of Daniel’s new friend (“There is something about her that I really like. She reminds me of me when I was younger.”).
Jack encourages Phyllis to track down her missing daughter, remarking how sorry he was for the long period before he ever met Keemo, and they enlist Paul to help. It takes the inept Paul months to come to believe the red-head is Phyllis’ daughter. In the interim, Daniel and the red-head have become romantically involved. The red-head becomes pregnant by Daniel. Phyllis and the couple are distraught when it is revealed that the pregnant red-head is Phyllis’ daughter. The poor girl, believing she is pregnant with her half-brother’s baby has an abortion, and she is left guilt-stricken.
During this time, Jack has been extremely supportive to Phyllis… focusing a lot of his time and attention on her situation. (The family is worried —Jack is paying too much attention to Phyllis and not enough to Jabot affairs).
The red-head ultimately reveals to Phyllis that she actually knew Lydia before coming to town. Lydia had been a restaurant customer where she worked and they had struck up a friendship. The two confided in each other (Lydia telling her some of her past misdeeds and troubles with Phyllis; the red-head revealing a difficult childhood, including being adopted). The red-head was having a hard time and Lydia encouraged her to change things, to move to Genoa City (“I have a daughter there and hear it is a great place.”). The red-head had been sexually harassed at the restaurant and Lydia confronted the harassing owner, blackmailing him into giving money to the red-head. With the new found funds, the red-head made the move to Genoa City and was surprised to see Lydia in town. Lydia asked the girl not to tell they previously knew each other (“I’m trying to repair things with Phyllis and want to don’t want to complicate things by relaying her blackmailing and other ill deeds). The red-head complied.
The red-head is grief-stricken over losing Daniel and aborting the child. It starts to effect her psychologically (Shades of Ashley’s abortion in the 80s). Ultimately, she is institutionalized.
It is revealed that the red-head is not related to Phyllis. The entire thing was set up by Lydia with the goal of having herself put into a high position with the Abbotts (or with the Newmans), using the girl as a way to distract Jack’s attention. While all of this was playing out, Lydia was taking millions of dollars out of the Abbott Foundation.
I’d love to see them bring back Avery, but only if Jessica Collins (I think that is her name) played the part. I mean, come ON, Nick…if you’re doing relationship re-treads, at least Avery can cook, plus she was the best one for Nick, out of the Sharon, Phyllis, Chelsea, Avery merry-go-round.
YES!!!!!!
Too bad Gina Tognon is gone. They could have been a mother/daughter duo.
I miss Gina Tognoni every day I have to watch cartoon Phyllis. (I usually don’t watch those scenes anymore.)
ME TOO!
sonniorsolita
I agree. I’ve always hated Phyllis and am not fond of the actress M.S either.
Was so glad when she left Y&R only to have her turn up on GH. Every time Nick gets back together with her, I lose respect for him. I record my shows, so I F.F any scene she’s in, unless I need to know what she’s up to, or should I say who? She sure was after Chance there for awhile but he was interested in Abby.
ABSOLUTELY YES!!!!! Love Courtney and love Gina!!!!! That would be AWESOME!!!
I kinda wish she was playing Sally on Y&R. I hope it’s a good character and story. She is talented and I like her.
How long must we wait to see Courtney Hope on Young and Restless. She was replaced with Flo on BB . I can not stand Flo with Wyatt. He was much more interesting and fun with Sally . I wish they would let Courtney continue to be Sally. Why no hints on when.. when..will we see her?
This casting news took me by surprise! We’ll just have to wait and see what her character will be named and what brings said character to GC!
So happy she has a talent that is to be recognized. Can’t wait to see when she appears and give her a great storyline please!
I want Hope to play Sally on Y&R.
Me Too Stephanie B. Smith. I Love Courtney Hope as Sally Spectra. I can’t Stand Phyllis Summers. She needs to Leave Sally Alone
I hope she comes over as Sally Spectra II. Since Lauren Fenmore was close with the original Sally Spectra, there is a back story in place.
If she isn’t Sally, then maybe she could be a recast Daisy Carter. That would be fun to watch so we could find out what happened to Daisy after she was sprung from the hospital.
I love this fiery red head! They dumped her for that blonde bimbo on B&B, which was terrible. Between that and some other characters, I just quit watching. I just hope they don’t pair her up with Theo, ug. He seems enamored of Lola and Kyle seems sincerely in love with Summer, so there aren’t any other men of Courtney’s age group. I hope they would not try another young gal with old Jack again. The last time was a catastrophe.
Like what little I’ve seen of her work. Smart to scoop her up. Now let’s hope they know what to do with her talent.
I really enjoy this actress’s work. Love how she is able to go deep and make me twist and turn while I am watching her. She is one to watch beyond soaps.
Love to see her as new lawyer in town, who will help Abby and know Noah!!
I hope she adds to this horrible show ! This show is so boring !
Just throwing this out there. Sally was a designer on B&B so maybe she will interact with Chelsea if she is in anyway serious about getting back to her business. Boy, she really snowed Theo today but Billy may be another story. I also think where she put that bug on the lamp was a bad choice. A cleaning crew would find it right away if they touched it while dusting or whatever.
When will we get to see Courtney Hope?
