Su, you know how you always say don’t watch GH to posters who critique it? Well, then , you should practice what you preach. I am so enjoying Y&R right now; let’s just taste what it is offering…..if it becomes too much to bear, then, follow your own advice…do not watch.
I do not like comparing soaps. I like them all…let’s discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly; but, please, no comparisons.
Other than that, I do enjoy your posts, Su.

The promo — and those mug shots — made me cringe in embarrassment for the actors.

This kind of forced “levity” doesn’t work when a show doesn’t incorporate humor on a regular basis like SANTA BARBARA and ONE LIFE TO LIVE did.

Y&R is absolutely horrible with producing humor..
That soap is completely humorless and when they attempt to be funny it just simply look very awkward/silly ..

Soaps have been going for years. No matter what Continent you’re on it’s hard to make and stay fresh a loaf of bread. After a certain amount of time even CHEESE remolds..Yeah we want fresh writers..and DayTime deserves new blood..unfortunately the Networks keep waking up the same old Frankenstein monster to pair with the same old bride and sometimes something elevates the same ole same ole…Kristoff St. John and Melody Thomas Scott brought genuine and not forced levity to the pictures so I intend to watch. As I have year after year and as I will continue to do until Networks seal the smoking hole in their foot with the weapon and the perp they chose to commit the crime. Get the drift??? On TV all levity is forced because it’s written..whether that’s a constant is one thing..do we love it when it happens??..that’s RATINGS!!

You want “forced levity”..especially unintended..I’m watching Charlie X an episode of Star Trek with a 26 year old pretending to be a teen ager. This was no doubt a lesson in the old landscape of TV that proved even a camera and a silly hair do can’t undo a glaring mistake..unintended “levity” that makes for an uncomfortable viewing experience..Yet..it’s this show..so ..OK…DO I MAKE MY POINT!!!

Drew Barrymore Daytime Talker A Go: Set For Launch 2020

CBS Television Distribution is getting more into the daytime talk show arena, with their first series of that kind in quite some time, after confirming that Drew Barrymore will indeed have a daytime talk show that now will premiere in the fall of 2020.

The new syndicated talk show has already had CBS Television Stations signing on as the first station group around the country to carry the show. New York and Los Angeles are on-board as two key heavyweight markets.

According to Deadline: the pickup for Barrymore’s talker came rather quickly just two months after she shot the pilot for it in the Big Apple.

The decision to move forward with Drew’s new show comes on the heels of a strong showing by NBC Universal’s new daytime talker, The Kelly Clarkson Show and the good start for Disney’s Tamron Hall Show.

As to where in the day-part the syndicated series hosted by Barrymore might fall in your daily viewing schedule is yet to be determined.

With solid ratings for Kelly Clarkson, Tamron Hall, and a new Barrymore talk series on the way; do you think it signifies more trouble ahead for your daytime soap operas in the long-run, or will everyone be able to have their slots and retain their audience and co-exist happily ever-after? Share your theories via the comment section below.
