WOW! What a category. I have to go with Genie Francis. Her scenes in response to LuLu’s coma was the best acting by a male or female soap actor this past season. Nancy Lee Grahn is a VERY close second…

I agree! These two are a tie for me, I am really torn! They are both truly deserving and I would be happy either way!!!

Was awesome performance I cried with her and donta !! I loved it

The Emmy will go to Genie Francis – GENERAL HOSPITAL!
Top-notch acting in all her scenes with all her acting partners… this past year.
It’s hers for the WIN. And, no Anthony Geary required. lol

It’s crazy that Genie only has 4 nominations! This is only her 2nd Lead Actress nomination – her first was way back in 1997! She won for GH for 2006, and her only other nomination was for Y&R for 2011. It would be wonderful if she were to win this year! But I am also rooting for Nancy Lee Grahn!

…Ms. Francis should have won in 2012 as Cane’s mother Genevieve on Young and Restless.

Iv watched her as Laura since 1981 she is a wonderful actress ❤️

“And, no Anthony Geary required.” Jeremy for the win!

@Jamesj75 – Thanks for finding humour in my little joke there. Genie Francis is a Queen of Daytime in her own right. And, she is being recognised for it… it’s a long time coming.

My mother says the Emmy belongs to Genie Francis.

Completely, AGREE !!!! Ms. Francis red carpets , with ALL due respect. I AM completely, gobsmacked that NOT ONE @DAYS of OUR Lives got a nomination. STUNNING PORTRAITS this past year. Most notably, Linsey Godfrey AND Stacey Haiduk… ( the return of Rachel ) Bar none- Genie Francis , just got pegged up that much more… none of the other nominees even got mention, or standout. Laura has been carrying a lot of Port charles… so why not. WOW

STUPEFIED … what ?

It was literally the worst year EVER for DAYS OF OUR LIVES in terms of acting and writing. The cast from those Progressive Insurance commercials featured more compelling drama than DAYS.

I’m beyond thrilled for Genie Francis, one of the all-time soap icons! The first time she’s been nominated for GH in 14 years, when she won for Best Supporting Actress. They don’t always write well for her, but they gave her some juicy material with Lulu going into the coma, and she knocked it out of the park, as she always does when they give her the material.

What a great story her winning would be after the disgraceful way the show treated her a couple of years ago.

Nancy is always good, but Finola would be my second choice behind Genie. I loved her scenes playing Anna and Alex on screen at the same time. She does the evil twin thing so devilishly well. She last won an Emmy in 1991, so it’s been 30 years. That would also be a great story. I wonder where that would rank in terms of the longest gap between Emmy wins.

Congrats to all the nominees!

I have to agree with those below on the lead actress category. Genie Francis will get this one IMO.

I am torn between Genie Francis and Nancy Lee Grahn for the win!!! Genie had such memorable scenes when Nikolas came back from the dead (her confrontation scene was amazing!), Lulu’s being injured by the bombing, and learning that Cyrus and Martin were her half-brothers. Nancy had such memorable scenes surrounding the deaths of her new boyfriend and Julian, her alcoholism, and her relationships with her daughters. Finola had the Anna/Alex scenes, the evolving Peter drama, and her relationship with Finn. I really want a GH actress to win, a snap of the 4 years in a row of CBS winning, the last 2 for B&B. Genie and Nancy have both won for Best Supporting Actress (with Nancy having also won for Santa Barbara as well as GH), and Finola has won for GH way back in 1991.

Alot of people think JMW will win for her pill addiction storyline, and while she was excellent, i really hope it goes to a GH actress. She won 2 years ago.

Melissa Clare Egan is the only one who has never won. This is her 1st Lead Actress nomination. She was nominated 5 times previously, for All My Children and Y&R in the Supporting Actress category. She did excellent work in the Adam driving her crazy story and all the Adam/Connor drama – but I would have vastly preferred Sharon Case to have been nominated.

Chelsea or Stephanie!!!!!

I think Chelsea will win next year for her now infamous meltdown/confession to Michael Baldwin and the psychiatrist for Rey’s poisoning.

I am more than thrilled to see Genie Francis on this list. She never fails to deliver. I am disappointed not to see Sharon Case’s name on the roster this year.

Sharon Case hasn’t received an Emmy nomination in 17 years. I think it’s safe to say she has fallen out of favor with the Emmy panel.

Melissa Claire Egan!! (Chelsey)

I cried like a baby during some of the “Laura scenes” when Lulu was in the hospital. Especially when Laura saw Tracy, ran to hug her and wept. I’m delighted 3 GH ladies are nominated but I would love to see Genie win.

Genie Francis…DEFINITELY!!!!! As for the other 4…nope.

Chelsea, Melissa Claire Egan, was fantastic in her portrayal as the paralyszed poisoner.
