Telma Hopkins to Reunite with former TV Son, Bryton James, on Upcoming Episodes of Y&R

Photo: JPI

The Young and the Restless will be having an on-screen throwback, of sorts, when Telma Hopkins appears as in the role of Denise Tolliver, a private detective who reveals shocking information about the past of Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan).

Hopkins will share scenes with Bryton James, making it the first time they have worked together since they appeared on the classic sitcom, Family Matters. She will also share scenes with Mishael Morgan.

Family Matters originated on ABC from 1989-1997, before moving to CBS from fall of 1997 to the summer of 1998.  In it, Bryton played “Richie” Crawford the son of Hopkins’ Rachel Crawford.

According to EW.com, look for the former Tony Orlando and Dawn singer to arrive in Genoa City for multiple episodes on June 1st.

Telma also recently appeared on Netflix’d Dead to Me, and has appeared on comedies such as: Bosom Buddies, Gimme a Break and Half and Half.

So, what do you think of this clever bit of casting on Y&R? Did you watch Bryton and Telma on Family Matters? Comment below.

I like this idea. A little family matters reunion. Those scenes are going to be so nice to see.

Can’t wait to see her. I don’t remember her on Family Matters but did enjoy Tony Orlando and Dawn.
Aside, this SL with Amanda is looking more interesting and to me looks like her father was killed because he was looking for his baby, so maybe her grandfather did have him killed.

I can’t wait, for some new drama!!! I also don’t remember seeing them on Family Matters, but I definitely remember Tony Orlando and Dawn… And I too think that Amanda’s grandfather had her dad killed…

wow- that’s young Devon- fun to see.
I never heard of Family Matters nor Tony or Dawn.I don’t know who many these people mentioned are, but that’s usually common for me lol
I like the stand-in Amanda better than the regular one. I’d like her to stay on as Amanda ..
Yes! Amanda’s father was killed/murdered by Amanda’s grandfather, that’s obvious.

Hi SuOOO
I prefer this gal playing Hilary now, but I kind of like the other one with Devon better. Does that make sense? Also, her whole family seems guilty. I can’t stand that sister and her mother.
Boy, Kyle has sure landed himself in a pile of poo, to put it nicely. That bunch are all bad news. They will have to pry them out of the Abbot house. For once I am feeling sorry for Summer dealing with them AND Sally.

Yes I did and I also enjoyed Ms. Hopkins’ singing with The Tony 0rlando and Dawn. I am so glad that Bryton James and the doctor character are together. I remember her from General Hospital and I think that they make a perfectly loving couple.

I stopped being able to watch Y&R months ago because the writing and stories have been so painfully bad, but I’ll tune in for this!

Marcus Coloma On His GH Exit: “I Don’t Know Why That Decision Was Made, But I Don’t Feel Any ill Will and I Didn’t Feel I Got Fired”

This week, GH fans saw Adam Huss returning to the ABC soap opera as Nikolas Cassadine to finish out the rest of the scenes originally intended to be played by Marcus Coloma who ended his three-year run on the show a tad early.

As has been previously reported, Coloma came down with Covid-19 as his final tape days neared, and a decision was made for him to not return to finish off his last run of episodes.

With all the rumors and stances taken by everyone involved, Coloma was the special guest on this week’s episode of the That’s Awesome Podcast hosted by Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson and discussed his departure from the long-running daytime drama series.

Marcus expressed that when he took the role on GH, he was excited to be in that kind of environment (working on a soap opera), and only signed on for three years.  However, as time went by it became more difficult to reconcile leaving when his contract was up, sharing: “You fall in love with the crew and everybody along with it. So, two and a half years in, this decision that was so clear in the beginning is getting complicated.”

The actor added that while, “I knew the end was coming, it wasn’t like GH was saying, ‘Hey, Marcus, we want you to stay.’  There was no negotiation … and all I can say to that is I don’t know why that decision was made, but I don’t feel any ill will and I didn’t feel like I got fired. It just felt like … there was maybe an understanding that I was going to be there for three years. The big surprise is how much it hurt. Even though I knew I was going to leave.”

In the end, Coloma reflected that this may have concluded as it should, adding, “I really do have some big goals and those goals would have never been realized if I would have stayed. That’s not to take anything away from GH because I admire everything about it.”

Watch the episode of That’s Awesome featuring Coloma below.

Then weigh-in, what do you think of Marcus’ thoughts on his exit as GH’s Nikolas Cassadine? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
