52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Nominations: ‘The Young and the Restless’ Leads with 19, ‘General Hospital’ Follows with 16
On Thursday, The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) unveiled their full nominations for the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, following the announcements of the major categories on Wednesday night on various news/entertainment television programs including: Entertainment Tonight, Extra and Access Hollywood.
The Young and the Restless scored the most nominations overall among individual programs, receiving 19. They were followed by General Hospital with 16. Next, came Days of our Lives with 13 nods.
In a statement, Adam Sharp, President and CEO of NATAS, expressed: “We’re excited to recognize the exceptional individuals and teams who make daytime television great every year and in some cases, every day. As the Daytime landscape continues to expand, we’re excited to introduce new categories to recognize the boundary-pushing work being done, and we’re enthusiastic to convene with and celebrate the whole Daytime community in one ceremony.”

The Daytime Emmy Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting, culinary, and legal/courtroom programs. This year marks the debut of several new categories, including Outstanding Culinary Cultural Series, Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series, and Outstanding Regional Content in a Daytime Genre.
The 52nd Daytime Emmys eligibility window was between Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2024. That is why CBS’ new soap opera Beyond the Gates, which premiered early in 2025, is not included in the nominations.

A broadcast partner for this year’s Daytime Emmys is still to be determined, or if the ceremony will be streamed only. CBS finished its two-year pick-up deal on televising the Daytime Emmys in 2024. The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony is set to take place on Friday, October 17 in Pasadena, California. More details to come.

So, who are you most excited about seeing received a nomination? Who do you feel is MIA from the list? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
If Susan Seaforth Hayes submitted herself, she was robbed of a well deserved nomination.
First reaction, Daytime Emmy’s SO WHITE… regardless who submitted, who didn’t… where is representation… there are loads of other diverse (black/brown, Latino/Hispanic… etc etc — the list goes on and on. There were SO many amazing actors with no recognition and we see basically the highest performers who are white running the nomination show board.
With the exceptions of: Jacqueline Lopez (GH) & Tajh Bellow (GH)
(Note: if I missed others my apologies in advance, I mostly watch GH & DAYS only)
Ok, Kate Mansi (GH), she’s clever, she’s won before and knows how to pick the best of the best scenes… Fan may have found Kristina unbearable often time… yet, Kate is playing a very complex character. She delivered some good material and I feel she knows the name of the game.
Questionable: Greg Rikaart (DAY), Lead Actor, I’m sorry, that is incorrect, he is NOT a lead actor on Days. He probably submitted himself. That selection is nonsensical.
And, it’s a shame that Emily O’Brien woulda, coulda, shoulda, waited until she resumed the role of Gwen… Theresa D. is plan weird. As a recast Theresa, sadly Emily wasn’t working it in the role. She’s a talent for sure, I wasn’t feeling it.
Jonathan Jackson, one word: unbelievable! I bet he submitted himself. He was lucky (no pun intended) as a recurring guest… yet he was under contract… I hope Gregory Harrison or Tajh Bellow wins. Excellent performances the past year from both actors. | As for Emerging Talent (what a weird category to begin with)….
Isn’t Giovanni Mazzi (Gio, GH) been on GH for a year now? He should be Emerging and or, Kristen Vaganos (Molly, GH)… she had great material and story for the 3rd Molly recast.
Snubs: Maura West, Cynthia Wathos.
Not usually a fan of Steve Burton (GH) and, yet I was surprised he wasn’t nominated…
Yet, Jane Elliot (Tracey, GH) had a terrific year, Tracey is letting loose, more playful/youthful, yet calculated and always in true Tracey form…. She had numerous points in story, last year, with Gregory and his loss, and her attempts bringing Drew down, advocating for Jason to step up as a “Q”… connected to all happenings in Monica’s house.
Sure some scenes were campy, but we see a new layer to Tracey as she ages, she softer, her connection with Cody, yet, annoying the f *ck out of Sasha… there’s a laundry list for Jane’s new take with Tracey as she matures… I would’ve expected to seen Jayne up for Lead Actress actually… Tracey has been involved in several stories, Tracey is just a natural born busy body. If not, supporting.
Again, as for Greg Rikaart (DAYS) was and always is supporting on DAYS. He should know better… but there were times when Billy Flynn several years ago was in Lead Actor category when it suit him either. The male leads on DAYS are: Steve, Brady, Xander, EJ/Chad/Stefan, Abe, John (sort of)… but, Not Leo Stark!
I will bet that after all the who-ha Blake Berris made about sending the wrong submission which is on him, his error, and Blake made such a drama about it… to note, I’m very behind on DAYS, however, I think he will win Supporting actor over Greggory Harrison who I think should win.
As much as I mentioned regarding lack of diversity and representation, I’m puzzled as to how Jacqueline Lopez (Blaze,GH) is in the Guest category… I believe she was recurring, there’s a difference.
Alley Mills, guest, Avery Pohl, not a guest, she should have gone for supporting if anything.
Ric Hearst is also missing however, I believe he is eligible next year.
Other notable mentions from GH: whether you love/hate the character of Natalia, Eva LuRue is such a talent, a gem … I could see her as a “guest”… same with JJ, for guest, but his work/time on GH was a dismal failure on the writing and his performance. No offense but in my personal opinion, his acting during this short lived run was ho-hum.
Missing for Lead/Supporting: solid performances from Brooke Kerr (Portia, GH).
Missing from Guest: Perry Shen (Brad, GH), James Patrick Stuart (Valentin) — however, I speculate he didn’t feel the need to submit. Who knows.
And finally, Genie Francis (Laura) is another solid actress missing for Lead Actress.
Nice breakdown. Now I know I’m in the minority but I really didn’t care for Kate Mansi’s approach to Histrina. When confronted with an emotional scene, Kate chooses to engage in over- the top histrionics ( hence, my nickname for her). Histrina never sheds a tear, instead she shrieks to convey the fact that she’s hurting big time so look out. There’s no subtlety or sense of realism when she attempts to emote. Instead of feeling empathy for her, I feel irritated. But folks are suckers for that type of shrill over-acting which is why she earned a nomination over more deserving actresses.
Harry, I’ll join you in that larger minority than one might think. Mansi has succeeded in making Kristina quite unlikable.
Thank you, Steve. It’s good to know I’m not the only one. I used to root for this character when I saw her as a vulnerable, humble underdog trying to find her way in this crazy world. Now she has a certain air of arrogance, self-absorption and entitlement.
Kristina was usually “rootable” when Lexi played (exception being the DoD storyline). Both times Frank has recast the character, she’s moved to being rather annoying.
That first recast was a disaster. It was also bad writing for the character.
Geez, #Bold only got two…..2 nominations!? That hopefully should tell Brad that #Bold is really…..REALLY bad right now.
I think the cast and crew should just skip this years Emmy ceremony. If I was Brad, I wouldn’t want to show my face there.
Well young and restless leads the pack and honestly it’s the worst of all great actors surrounded by bad writing and stories S Susan seaforth Hayes was robbed it’s disgusting and if you hate bold that’s ok because Lisa Yamada deserves the breakout award
Questions, questions, questions…
1. Like others questioning – where is SSH? Maybe Michael Fairman can find out if she did submit (and which category). If, as some speculate, she was recommended to submit in Lead – that was a miscalculation.
2. Tajh Bellow? Kudos to him for grabbing a nomination when the show put no effort to promote his character.
3. Jonathan Jackson? He should be embarrassed to be nominated this year for a total bust of a return.
4. Did Kristen Vaganos not submit for Emerging?
5. What are the qualifications for Guest? Avery Pohl was finishing her multi-year contract for her final month in January 2024. Hardly a guest. Mills, again? Where’s Ric Hearst?
5. What are the qualifications for Guest? Avery Pohl was finishing her multi-year contract for her final month in January 2024. Hardly a guest. Mills, again? Where’s Ric Hearst?
It’s likely because she only appeared for one month, so she qualified for the Outstanding Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series category. However, nothing in the “Call for Entries” qualifications prohibits contract players from submitting.
As for Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing, GH), he really is not a “guest”. He’s more of a supporting role.
I don’t think submitting in Lead was such a stretch for SSH. Like most people, apparently, I assumed she’d go for Supporting, but Lead was not totally unreasonable. If it was indeed a miscalculation, I think it was an honest one (i.e., I don’t think she was kidding herself).
Laughable that The Bold and the Beautiful got ignored in the major categories; I’d like to think this could speak to Bradley Bell, but I have doubts it will. If audience feedback has not changed his ways, I doubt this will either.
Neighbours being ignored outside of one category is criminal, as well. Everyone did solid work in 2024, especially Stefan Dennis (Paul), Rebekah Elmaloglou (Terese), and Matt Wilson (Aaron). After last year, I had hopes they’d be included, but alas, they were not. Shame. True shame.
I’d also wager the continued overlooking of Maura West (Ava) continues to be a problem for me, but I’d also wager she might not have felt it worth submitting this year. But she is Daytime Emmy personified.
Another snub is Colleen Zenk (ex-Jordan). She carried The Young and the Restless through absolute garbage scripts, and she was a shining beacon of light amongst a cast that, honestly, looks dull and uninspired every day they work, and she brought some much-needed life to that set. And the same could be said for Ray Wise (ex-Ian).
Overall, a disappointing, yet predictable, turnout for the nominations. Much like other award ceremonies in the United States, it’s futile and not as regarded as it should be.
With the qualifying period being most of last year, I think some people forgot about certain performances may have been forgotten or the actor chose not to submit. Two omissions that come to mind are Susan Seaforth Hayes and Michael Easton. Susan’s performance was…staggering. It surprises me to see other actors from DOOL in the Supporting Actress category..but not Susan. Michael Easton’s Finn was spectacular at the end of his run. First, he found Gregory dead and then his descent into alcoholism was must watch TV. Plus, his scenes with Violet broke everyone’s heart.
I’m not sure of it has been announced, but I would love to see Deidra Hall or Jane Elliot be rewarded for Lifetime Achievement.
The biggest snubs were the three actors from GH – Molly, Spencer and Brook Lynn. I hope to see Gio and Book Lynn get their due next year.
The biggest surprise was seeing Jonathan Jackson’s name. I am a huge fan of Lucky, but watching him play cards with Sidwell for weeks was not entertaining. His return has to be the biggest miss of the year.
The Emmy Awards need to bring back the Younger Actor category. Violet, Donna and James (GH) are great young actors that should not be put in the same category as young adults.
Of all of the nominees, I really want to see Brook Lynn and Gio from GH and Marlena from DOOL get their due next year.
Congrats to all nominees.
I have read that Susan Seaforth Hayes was submitted in the Lead Actress category.
That, was unfortunately a mistake. Was she the lead in Doug’s death/memorial, certainly, but overall, she’s a strong supporting player.
Jonathan Jackson, are you kidding? Can not believe he even submitted.
He had some effective scenes, particularly with Aiden. My guess is that he submitted wisely and therefore received a nomination.
Come on-be fair. He did a great job playing an exhausted, half- asleep guy trying to keep his eyes open while playing marathon poker with Sidwell.
It’s hard to discuss snubs when we don’t know who submitted and in which category. Disappointed that Kristen Vaganos, Jane Elliot, Genie Francis, Michael Easton, Mike Manning, Cynthia Watros and Maura West weren’t nominated but I don’t know if they submitted….
On the plus side: Nancy Lee Grahn, Kate Mansi and Avery Kristen Pohl! Super happy to see their names! I no longer watch Days but I am excited to see Blake Berris and Paul Telfer nominated this year.
Confused as to why Olivia d’Abo and AnnaLynne McCord are considered “Emerging Talent”? I was hoping for Kristen Vaganos.
My picks: GH for Drama Series, Directing, Writing, Nancy Lee Grahn, Paul Telfer, Kate Mansi, Blake Berris, Lisa Yamada, and Avery Kristen Pohl! Freeman Griffin
Good insights. Can almost guarantee that Elliot didn’t submit. Although she had some strong moments when Lulu initially needed her transplant, I doubt Francis submitted either.
Easton did some good work but was questionable which category he fit in.
With you on Vaganos, but not as much of a
Mansi supporter.
Jane Elliot has gone on record stating she’s not one to submit for Emmys; it’d be up to TPTB to submit her if they felt it necessary.
Beyond the Gates soon have been included. They were robbed. It is a very good show.I never miss an episode.
Beyond the Gates’s first air date was February of 25 so they were ineligible. I agree it’s a great soap. I need catch up.
I only watch GH so I can’t speak for the other shows and their actors, still, its hard to keep track of 2024 performances for GH, they year of the bloodbath were characters were getting killed off or sent packing, still even though as a fan 2024 for GH was not my fave, performance wise though GH cast always stands out, and even though my inclination as a fan is to just be happy if anyone from GH wins, I have to say on some of the nominees 2 in particular I’m really lost on. Love Laura Wright but I’m trying to remember what was going on with her character in 2024 for her to get a nomination and I’m sorry but I have no clue on what merit is Jonathan Jackson being nominated for? nothing with Lucky stood out, his reunion with Liz was cute but other then that I can’t see anything that stood out so I really hope Gregory Harrison wins in that category, his character dying was so heartbreaking as for snubs I’m sad Michael Easton didn’t get a nomination, and little Josephine as violet was just heartbreaking, its a shame she can’t be nominated in a supporting role because of her age, and what about Jane Elliot, she was so good especially in the Finn and violet storyline. Congratulations to all the nominees I guess but I’m cheering for another GH sweep. For lead, I’m going for Nancy Lee Grahn, lead actor Dominiq Zamprogna, supporting to Kate Mansi, supporting actor Gregory Harrison.
Wright’s best stuff in 2024 was way back in January during the Bobbie death/memorial.
Nancy Lee Grahn for Lead Actress 100%. She brought it in the scenes when Sam died. I’ll be rooting for Dominic Zamprogna for Lead Actor, even though I think there have been other years where he had better material.
I’m happy Tajh Bellow and Gregory Harrison got nominated for Supporting. I think Jonathan Jackson is great and deserved all five of his previous Emmys. But I have no earthly idea why he got nominated this year, other than because he’s a familiar name, and some voters see a familiar name and check the box.
I like Gregory Harrison for Supporting Actor, although I’m disappointed Michael Easton didn’t get nominated for the same storyline. He was heartbreaking when Gregory died, and then did a tremendous job playing drunk Finn afterwards. Don’t know if he submitted his name or not. I’m guessing probably he didn’t. Same as Jane Elliot.
Wondering if nobody from B&B wanted to submit anything. The 1 catagory has a few new people, but no Steffy Freakin Forrester, is tragic! Will Rebecca, John, Heather, Jenn, Katherine, Thorsten, Scott, or any cast even be there?

The popular duo reunited for this special one-day only special event honoring their most memorable of daytime roles.
Santa Barbara was globally a hit, and nothing illustrated that more than having attendees from 20 countries and over four continents participate in and watch the live chat moderated by Melissa Braverman, the author of Santa Barbara: The Complete Story due out this fall.
While many were not able to purchase the initial livestream when the ticket costs were revealed to be $100, A Martinez previously clarified the event was to also raise money for Walker, who is currently facing a very serious health situation, now there is a way to catch the replay at half the price.

HOW YOU CAN STILL CATCH A AND MARCY’S LIVESTREAM
Michael Fairman TV can share exclusively that if you missed the chance to see and listen to what A and Marcy had to say, On demand access is available at the event link for a half price at $50 (guests can contribute up to $100 if they so chose). There was plenty of laughter, tears, and reminiscing through the the two and a half hour chat which included: some memorable footage and images from the love story of Cruz and Eden. At one point, Marcy reflected on the enduring impact and affection for Cruz and Eden. “You hope that whatever you do in this life, that you’ll make an impact of some kind,” expressed Walker. “It doesn’t have to necessarily be wrapped up in success or career or anything like that, but I think we all want desperately to feel like our time here blessed someone. To hear that somebody’s life was even a moment better because of what we did is a massive gift.

A AND MARCY’S DESIRE TO WORK TOGETHER AGAIN
In a moment that brought joy to those in attendance, A and Marcy both expressed a sincere hope and desire that one day they can work together again. Martinez explained, “There’s more avenues to pursue now than there have ever been. I would say just keep a good thought for it. I’ve been holding it for decades, and I fully intend to do whatever I can to make it happen. We’re engaged in trying to make it happen. And you know, we’ll see. I know we both want to do it.” Marcy simply nodded and responded “Amen.”
Melissa Braverman shared with Michael Fairman TV, her sentiments on hosting the Santa Barbara favorites. “Seeing A and Marcy together again, even virtually, was an absolute gift. It instantly reminded all of us why we fell so hard for Cruz and Eden in the first place. Their undeniable chemistry leaped off the screen and straight back into our hearts, proving that the magic they created all those years ago hasn’t faded one bit. Sharing in equal parts laughter and tears felt like catching up with old friends. It just meant the world to see them side-by-side again and to see how this incredible fandom showed up for Marcy during such an important time for her.”

‘Days of Our Lives’ Officially Confirms Ryan Quan Returning as Co-Head Writer Beginning in July

There is definitely a shake-up going down at the writing team at Peacock’s Days of Our Lives. Now, the long-running soap opera has confirmed, what has been previously reported, that current General Hospital breakdown writer, Ryan Quan is heading back to his old stomping grounds in Salem. This time as the series co-head writer.
The appointment of Quan comes with the official news that current co-head writer, Paula Cwikly, who was previously rumored to be departing the series, is not. She is staying with the soap opera and transitioning to a consultant role with the show. Now, Quan will join current co-head writer, Jeanne Marie Ford to steer the ship for the characters on the canvas.
On Wednesday, TV Insider, reported the official confirmation and that Quan will return to DAYS next month in July. In a statement to the outlet, executive producer, Ken Corday expressed, ‘We are lucky to have Ryan back in the fold. There are very few people who have such a deep knowledge and understanding of our show’s history. Stay tuned!”

THE FUTURE OF DAYS OF OUR LIVES
Since Days of our Lives unusual production schedule tapes ten-months ahead of air, the new creative team’s vision led by Quan and Jeanne Marie Ford are not expected to stream on Peacock until mid-2027.
Days of Our Lives is currently renewed through its 63rd season. The former NBC soap opera which transitioned to Peacock in September of 2022, celebrate its 60th anniversary in November of 2025.
The writing regime change comes after NBCUniversal Media Chairman Matt Strauss revealed that Peacock is expected to turn a profit for the first time in the current quarter, punctuating their investment with the enduring soap opera on its platform.
As for Quan, his knowledge of Salem is tremendous. Ryan joined Days of Our Lives as a writer’s assistant in 2007 after some time over at Passions. He then spent two decades and held every position on the writing team where he previously served as co-head writer from 2016-17 alongside Dena Higley.
Later, when Ron Carlivati took over as head writer for 7 years in 2017, Quan became his right-hand man and main story consultant for his deep knowledge of the history and the legacy of the show. After Carlivati exited the show in 2024, General Hospital hired Quan in 2025.
So, what do you think about DAYS making it official with Ryan Quan as the new co-head writer of the series alongside Jeanne Marie Ford. What do you think about the fact we won’t see the changes on-screen till 2027? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

ABC Announces ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Texas Spin-Off Gets Straight-to-Series Order

In a surprise move, coming a week after ABC unveiled its 2026-2027 fall television schedule, Grey’s Anatomy is getting a new spinoff co-created by the original series’ creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes.
The new untitled medical drama will be written and executive produced by Rhimes and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner/executive producer Meg Marinis under the Shondaland and 20th Television umbrella. In addition, long-running ‘Grey’s’ star Ellen Pompeo will also serve as an EP of the spinoff.
The upcoming new series will debut midseason in 2027. This will be the first of Grey’s franchise not set in urban city or West Coast locale. According to Deadline, the new “edgy drama is about a team at a rural West Texas medical center — the last chance for care before miles of nowhere.”

Photo: ABC
In a statement, Marinis shared, “I am incredibly excited to expand the Grey’s Anatomy universe. This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas. I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.”
A NEW GROUP OF DOCTORS IN RURAL TEXAS
The Texas spinoff will feature a a new group of doctors, but there will be some connection to the OG Grey’s Anatomy and possibly to Debbie Allen’s character of Catherine Fox. The amount of episodes in the series order has not yet been determined. Previous Grey’s Anatomy spinoffs were the defunct Station 19 and Private Practice.
Previously, Grey’s Anatomy was renewed for its upcoming 23rd season while the amount of episodes is unclear. The last two seasons the series produced 18 episodes.
It should also be noted, Grey’s Anatomy and the Texas spinoff would likely share a time period, which requires limited-run orders for both with Grey’s premiering in the fall, followed by the spinoff on the midseason programming block.
So, what do you think about a Texas spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy coming in 2027? Who would you like to see from daytime or primetime as some of the featured roles as new doctors? Put on your casting directors hat and let us know via the comment section below.
