52nd Annual Daytime Emmys: Daytime Drama Series Nominees
Ahead of Thursday’s full list of nominations for the upcoming 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, some of the major categories were announced on Wednesday via several syndicated television entertainment/news programs including: Entertainment Tonight, Extra and Access Hollywood.
NATAS (National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences) will unveil the rest of the nominations on Thursday at 12 pm ET/9 am PT via their account on X @TheEmmys or @TheEmmysTV.
Meanwhile, Access Hollywood had the exclusive to reveal the nominees in the Outstanding Daytime Drama Series category, which saw only 3 nominees make in through. It should be noted that nominations for the 52nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards are for shows and performances in the 2024 calendar year. Therefore, CBS’ newest soap opera, Beyond the Gates, was not eligible as it had not premiered yet, but will be in the competition in 2026 at the 53rd annual Daytime Emmys.

And now, here are the nominees for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series:
Days of our Lives
General Hospital
The Young and the Restless
In 2024, General Hospital took home the gold for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series and holds the record with 17 Daytime Emmy wins in this category. Days of our Lives has won the award four times, the last time being in 2018 at the 45th annual Daytime Emmy awards. The Young and the Restless had won in this category 11 times.

Stay tuned for an update when we reveal what episodes each soap opera submitted that landed them a nod for the biggest award come Emmy night.
So, what do you think of DAYS, GH and Y&R being in the running for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series at this year’s Daytime Emmys? Who are you rooting for to win? Comment below.
I’d love to see Days get it.
Y&R will probably win again even though they don’t deserve it.
GH was somewhere in between.
Me too!!!
Hilarious to me that The Bold and the Beautiful did not get nominated; hoping the Academy is trying to make a point to Bradley Bell that he has sunk this soap beyond repair.
I am angered Neighbours did not earn a well-deserved nomination, as their 2024 episodes held some powerful performances and storytelling.
Thank goodness #Bold didn’t get any noms for lead and drama series.
I know, right? My immediate reaction upon seeing the nominees in this category was to snicker and think “Gee, how must it feel to be Bradley Bell this morning?”
I guess they forgot all about BB on all three categories, wow!
General Hospital of course.
I’m SHOCKED and indignant that Beyond Them Gates didn’t receive a nomination for the Greatest Show On The History of the World!!! What are those Emmy peeps thinking!!!!!
Beyond the Gates is not eligible for nomination in any category because the show started in February 2025. In order to be eligible for nomination, the show/episode airdate has to occurred some time in between January – December 2024. Beyond the Gates will be eligible for nomination at next year’s Emmys.
It wasn’t eligible. Next year. I bet several of the performers will be presenting. It’s a great show, huh?
Dottie, BTG is not eligible for this year since they weren’t on the air last year. They will be eligible NEXT year for material that they aired this year.
Dottie is being sarcastic. She’s been picking on Beyond the Gates since it first aired. And substituting”the” with “ them” is not a typo, it’s willful as she keeps doing it. Seems she’s a bit obsessed with this new soap. Gee, I wonder what it is about Beyond the Gates that threatens Dottie so?
Hmmmmm, yes I wonder????
They didn’t make the deadline and couldn’t be considered based on when it started airing. The will be eligible next year.
It wasn’t eligible.
They’re hot eligible until next year. These are awards for 2024.
Considering BTG didn’t exist for the period that the Emmys covers, it seems pretty appropriate that it’s not nominated. And the “Greatest Show On The History of the World”? Come on now.
If you read the article, you would have seen it was eligible for nomination this year.
BTG is not eligible this year since it started in February. They will get nominations next year because they’ve been heating up with storylines and excellent acting!
They’re not eligible until next year.
what drug are u on?
You guys are giving her to much credit. She always has something nasty/politically incorrect to say about Beyond the Gates. Next year, I am sure you will see the cast and crew nominated in major categories. I can’t wait!
Posthumous awards as it will be cancelled by then
Wishful thinking on your part?
Whatever you say. Dottie.
Thank you, Lewis. I recognize her name from way back when Beyond the Gates was being premiered. She’s very preoccupied with it.
Hey Michael your off on the number of wins for Best show, Love GH but they’ve only won in this category 17 times not 26, but they still hold the record for wins in that category, YR is at 11 not 8 an Dool was at 4, you got that number right.
Beyond the Gates was in February 2025, It can not qualify this year. Voting ending before their premiere
The post says 17 times for GH. Where do you see 26?
his original posting, clearly he saw my posting and corrected the numbers.
Of course there’s a gh pic hopefully days will win What’s with the bold snubs because the weakest honestly was yandr
There’s a DAYS pic too
I love GH! That’s who I’m rooting for, but if DAYS wins I’m fine with that. Not a fan of Y&R!
In case you were wondering why Beyond the Gates didn’t get a single nod. Read this:
I want General Hospital to win yet again – it will be five years in a row if it does win. I honestly think it was the best for 2024.
GH is my fave show but i hated 2024 because of all the people they let go, but they did have a few highlights and considering its only 2 shows that have to be submited, they wont have a problem finding two, now will they pick the right two? , who knows.
Days should win. I watch all three of these soaps and Days is the best of the three consistently.
I have a feeling that General Hospital will probably win again for best daytime drama you never know
How could colleen zenk be ignored for geust star? How could bold not receive any noms in acting lead and supporting. It is so stupid that bold is not nominated for best show.Who is the lifetime achievement winner,it better be Deidre Hall.Three of the courtroom shows, nominated are actors recreating cases. How can they be called legal.Who are the silver circle winners.?Who is going to air this show?
I do NOT want to see GH do a 5peat. I hope DAYS win with the death of Doug Williams!
Ironically, most of Days best material over the last few years is based around the death of long time cast members. First Victor, then Doug, and most recently John Black.
Aside from that, there’s been a lot of mindless filler material. Nurse WIGley. The dumbest serial killer ever (the chick who won some sort of fan club contest to get the part, or whatever it was). ReRon using the tragic deaths to introduce pointless characters like Konstipated & Little Dougie. And worst of all, that complete waste of time “soap within a soap” that they wasted months trying to shove down our collective throats.
So because of that, it’s hard for me to see Days as the best soap overall. If they do the 60th anniversary right, they might have a better shot at it next year.
Not to say that GH hasn’t also had its problems in 2024. They had 666 writer changes with all kinds of schizo writing directions as a result. Some (though unfortunately not all) of that has finally stabilized, but that would be within the 2025 eligibility.
Y&R doesn’t air down here in Hell, so I can’t comment on that. But from what I read here and elsewhere, they seem to be having some writing issues as well.
So… in a “lesser of evils” contest… it’s probably going to be GH again.
We might have dueling memorial episodes submitted. DAYS for Doug and GH for Bobbie.
As I said in another post, I’ll get interested in the “Outstanding Daytime Drama” category again when they make it a possibility for the announcer to say, “And this year’s award goes to . . . no show; the Academy has elected not to give an award in this category this year.” To watch any of them get the award when they’re so much less than they could be, just because they’re, well, how shall we put it, the least mediocre one in the bunch is uninteresting at best. Someday–maybe–the corporate owners will back off and let the creative folks do what they know how to do, and then this category might become relevant once again.
Well said. I’m rather apathetic about the Daytime Emmys specifically for the reason you state.
I am still processing the absence of The Bold and the Beautiful in the Daytime Drama category. I do think it the weakest overall of the four legacy soaps. It looks good but is so empty of compelling and clever storytelling. But I do wonder if bestowing awards within a such a small pool of possibles to be worth doing. It sure was different when 12 or more program were in contention.
I wonder about the absence of any B&B actors in the leading/featured categories. Daytime drams awards are challenging as they are episode specific — right? — and we as viewers consider the overall product. I also do not understand why actors must submit themselves for honors. That to me means someone very worthy who remains outside the fire is forgotten and allows a weaker field.
This year is odd with the calendar year 2024 being the award period and the trophies are not given until October. Might the Academy adjust the nomination window going forth?
