THE BACHELORETTE: A Tale Of Two Ambulances, Awkward Spa Date & Songwriting Your Feelings

Courtesy/ABC

On week 3 of The Bachelorette, plenty of broken bones were the order of the episode, and some pretty uncomfortable moments for the contestants, and the audience watching at home.

In this installment, we start with a group date where Becca has invited several of the fellas to join her. Becca has a spa day in mind … and so what’s a girl to do?  Have some of your infamous ‘Bachelor ‘contestants you competed against for Arie’s heart hanging out with you.  One of which is Tia.  Yup, Tia!  The girl that apparently dated this season’s ‘Bachelorette’ contestant, Colton, who is causing so much ‘inner-conflict” for Becca, because of this bit of intel.

So now, the stage was set! Colton, who is taking part on the group date sees Tia, in the most uncomfortable and forced, awkward situation of the episode.  Colton hugs it out with Tia.  Then, Tia and Becca sit down to discuss Tia’s relationship with Colton.  Both Tia and Becca believe it is quite possible Colton signed on to be a contestant on this season, hoping Tia would be The Bachelorette. Tia assures Becca, that the relationship did not get serious and it was long-distance.

Side note: the most embarrassing moment of the season lands on Becca, when she can’t remember the name of one of the guys she chose for this group date.  It’s Jason, Becca! Jason!

Later, within a quick blip, looks like Becca’s fears have melted away when she and Colton talk it out at the cocktail party that night.  In fact, she gives him the group date rose.  But also at ‘said’ cocktail party: David is getting more annoyed with Jordan.  It comes to a boiling point when male model Jordan brags he has almost 4,000 Tinder matches! David goes straight to Becca to tell her that this dude is not on the up and up and not here for the right reasons.  She uses the information, and turns it on Jordan with a high-five for reaching the Tinder 4K mark! Jordan calls David, “A bitch”.

Next, the producers have been teasing all through the episode that it is Jordan who causes bodily harm to David .. but guess what?  Not the case. Damnit!  Ambulances and the paramedics are called to the  contestants house, where David is wheeled out with blood all over the floor and clothes in his room. Chris Harrison comes to tell Becca what happened.  It turns out David fell out of his bunk bed and crashed to the floor face first.  Becca feels bad, and calls David.  He says he will be back soon after getting fixed up in the hospital.

The week’s one-on-one date went to Chris, who goes to the Capitol Records building with Becca, and land in a studio where, none other than  Richard Marx is supposedly recording.  Marx has a songwriting challenge for both Becca and Chris – to write down some song lyrics based on how they feel about each other.  How is that possible when they have barely spent any time together? Chris begins to clam up and struggle with the assignment.  It looks like he cannot put a thought to pen and paper.  Viewers learn Chris was abandoned by his father at a young age, and that Chris tried to reconnect with his dad a few years ago by writing him a letter, in which the father never replied, or reached back to him.  Chris feels if he shares his feelings he will get hurt. Somehow, just somehow, when you think he had nothing written to share to Becca and Richard, he comes up with solid romantic lyrics. Whoa, it was touch and go there!

Later, the two have an intimate dinner where Chris opened up about his past with his dad to Becca.  She feels sad about his past, and gives him a rose.  Marx, shows up out of nowhere in another large room serenading the couple as they dance and makeout to “Right Here Waiting.”

On the second group date, ten of the men take to a football field for some drills and a scrimmage in front of a bunch of  “extras’ err, “audience’.  Clay, an NFL player, was the standout in “The Becca Bowl.”  In fact, Becca was very turned on by his athletic prowess juxtaposed against his mild demeanor.  Just then, bad news struck.  Clay hurt his wrist in a play in the end zone.  He is then also taken out by ambulance! At the afterparty, while Blake fumes that he is getting jealous of not spending any one on one time with Becca, Clay re-emerges with his arm in a sling.  Becca is thrilled to see him and awards him the group date rose, rattling the other guys.

The next day, just before the rose ceremony, Clay admits he needs surgery to repair his wrist in time for football season.  He says he is having an internal struggle of what to do because of his family and his career, but totally digging Becca.  Ultimately, he decides to leave the show, return the group rose, and tell Becca the truth.  She is left in tears as Clay drives off in the limo.

In one of the big teasers for next week’s episode, David returns following smashing his face, and the producers blurred out his face in the preview making it seem like some disfigurement is on the way.  But is it really?

So, what did you think about the shenanigans on this week’s episode of The Bachelorette? Who do you think is the frontrunner for Becca’s heart now? Who do you think will be sent home at next week’s rose ceremony? Comment below.

Christopher Cousins Makes His Y&R Debut: What Were Your First Impressions of Alan Laurent?

Soap veteran, Christopher Cousins (ex-Cain, OLTL et al), made his first appearance on The Young and the Restless on the Tuesday, April 30th episode of the CBS daytime drama.

As previously reported, Cousins is taking on the role of Ashley’s friend/psychiatrist from Paris, Alan Laurent. In story, the Abbotts flew Alan in from Paris to see Ashley (Eileen Davidson) first-class ticket to Genoa City, no less.

Alan recalls to Traci (Beth Maitland) how Ashley was upset after revisiting the cafe where she had the fight with Tucker (Trevor St. John), and had two different versions in her mind of what actually happened. Traci enlightens Alan that Ashley has been having personality shifts from being assertive, to child-like, to taking tequila shots and having a good ole’ time. In addition, that Ashley is having blackouts with chunks of time gone from her memory.  Traci goes on to say that Billy (Jason Thompson) said he once experienced something like this himself with a personality splinter.

Traci is hoping Alan can talk to Ashley and insist she undergo treatment. Alan firmly explains that he can’t treat her himself, but he will see what he can do.

When Ashley, now as her alter Belle, comes to the Abbott home after chatting with Diane (Susan Walters) at Crimson Lights, she is thrilled to see her old friend, Alan. Eventually, the two head to Society where a concerned Abby (Melissa Ordway) pours them some champagne.

The two talk about Paris as Belle flirts with Alan. She then wonders if he is in town to probe her innermost thoughts. She tells Alan that her family has decided there’s something wrong with her. Alan assures Ashley that he cannot treat her as a patient in the U.S. as he is retired and does not have a license to practice in the states. Alan said he is concerned for her, but would never treat a friend.

Belle tells Alan, “The rumors about my mental breakdown are highly exaggerated.” Belle speaks to the other alters, and thinks Alan is the perfect solution for Ashley. She says, “Time for some joie de vivre.”

What did you think of Christopher Cousins in his new role as Alan Laurent? Will Ashley’s alters get Alan in bed with her? Will she set him up for something more devious? Will Alan figure out what is going on with Ashley and pretend to just be her friend, while somehow treating her multiple personality disorder? Let us know in the comment section below.

AMERICAN IDOL: Katy Perry Makes a Heartbreaking Decision as Top 7 are Revealed

It was dramatic American Idol on Monday night. The episode marked the return of the “Judges Song Contest”, where Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie each serve up a song choice for the contestant to sing, and they must choose one and then figure out who recommended that song choice.

As in the past, when it got down to the bottom two from the at-home voting, the judge who scored the most picks of their song choices by the contestants, was in the drivers seat and could ultimately save one of the two performers to sing another day.

After a night of sterling musical performances by Jack Blocker performing Willie Nelson’s Always On My Mind, Abi Carter doing her rendition of Evanescence’s Bring Me to Life, and Emmy Russell performing her grandmother Loretta Lynn’s classic, Coal Miner’s Daughter, the following were safe after the nationwide vote.

Photo: ABC

The aforementioned, Blocker, Russell and Carter, plus Will Moseley, Triston Harper, and Julia Gagnon. However, that left McKenna Faith Breinholt and Kaibrienne in the bottom two. At that point, Katy Perry conferred with her co-judges and announced with tears in her eyes, in an almost impossible choice for her, to save Breinholt, thus Kaibrienne’s run on ‘Idol’ came to an end.

Photo: ABC

The episode also welcomed back former Idol contestants Danny Gokey, Melinda Doolittle and Colton Dixon for a performance of “Shackles,” in honor of former Idol contestant, Gospel artist, and Grammy-winner, Mandisa who passed away earlier this month at 47.

So, did America get the Top 7 right? Did Katy do right by keeping McKenna for the Top 7 and sending Kabrienne home given her choices? Are there too many country artist contestants left in the mix? Share your thoughts via the comment section below. But first watch what happens when the final 7 are whittled down and Katy’s anguised decision.

On the Monday, April 29th episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, our two sleuths, Deacon (Sean Kanan) and Finn (Tanner Novlan), are looking for clues that Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) could be alive, especially after the homeless man (Clint Howard) tells them he saw a woman in their photo go into an abandoned building and he heard screaming until suddenly it stopped.

Deacon and Finn decide they have to go inside the dingy vacant building and search for Sheila. Once inside, Deacon is overcome, saying, “It’s awful in here. Like something died.” Finn keeps calling out his mother’s Sheila’s name. Eventually, the two end up at a locked gate and see a rat.
