GENERAL HOSPITAL: Robert Is Shocked When He Sees Holly as Emma Samms Returns

Courtesy/ABC

It’s been a long time coming and on today’s Thursday October 20th, GH fans welcomed back fan favorite Emma Samms in her role as Holly Sutton.

Samms, who is battling Long Covid, recent it to the U.S from the UK to film all-new episodes of the long-running ABC daytime drama.

In story, as Lucy (Lynn Herring) has now gone missing, Anna (Finola Hughes) is desperately trying to break Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy).  Meanwhile, we see a woman face down near the rocks and a body of water.  Suddenly, she begins to have some movement in her hands.  The woman gets up and walks through some other rocks and heads off.

Later, the woman makes her way to the Quartermaine boathouse.  Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), who just had to get away from the unpleasant argument at the Q’s and is not feeling well, heads to the boathouse after seeing traces of wet footprints. Once inside, she lets out a scream.

Next thing you know, Michael (Chad Duell) runs to her as Willow is thinking the woman could be the ‘hook’ killer who ended Brando’s life. At the PCPD, Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) informs everyone that a woman just showed up at the Q’s estate after receiving a call from Ned (Wally Kurth).  Anna is hoping it’s Lucy!

Dante and Robert (Tristan Rogers) hightail to the Quartermaines.  Meanwhile, Jordan (Tanisha Harper) gets a lead about a registered drone that surveyed the lake the previous night. When she obtains the footage from the drone, Martin (Michael E. Knight), and Anna look on. They watch someone supposedly shooting Lucy and her falling into the steely waters off the pier.  Once they see the face of the shooter, Martin and Jordan turn and look at Anna and want answers.

Dante and Robert arrive at the Q’s and Olivia (Lisa LoCicero), who has seen the woman inside the boathouse, tells Robert to prepare himself before he goes in.  Once inside, Robert sees a a very much alive Holly Sutton!

So are you glad to see Emma back on GH? How do you think Holly’s story will play out? Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section below.

Emma Samm’s, despite the trespass of time and despite her illness, looks radiantly beautiful- even soaking wet. I loved the way she said,” Hello Robert.” I wish Emma Samms could stay and hope she find the road to wellbille.

Yipee–NOT. Never liked her.

Shari
Not a fan of Holly or Lucy, but I hope that old creep didn’t kill her. I’m really getting sick and tired of the Victor show, way too much of him lately.

I’ve never been a Holly fan either. I did like Robert with Anna best. Always like Lucy. She brings energy to GH since her time as a librarian. But it is still nice to see Emma again, and that she is recovering from yet another bad virus that’s associated with covid.

rose
I only know Lucy from past few years with her numerous gentleman friends, Kevin, Scotty, Martin now and of course the horrible old Uncle Victor.Ive read her history which is extensive and crazy to say the least.I only know of Holly from what I’ve read about her, and don’t Luke her.I would much rather see Robert with Diane, which looked promising after his visit to her at G.H.

Violet, YES! Robert & Diane are looking very hopeful to me, too. Emma Samms is beautiful and brings a nice presence to the show…but her acting has only ever been average. She’s no Maura West or Laura Wright, that’s for certain. I still wince from the 80s when Emma replaced the vivid, unique Pamela Sue Martin as Fallon on DYNASTY. It got so bad that when Fallon was abducted by aliens in that ridiculous UFO story, I was praying she’d stay gone. I’d much rather they bring back Nathan Parsons’ sexy Ethan (Holly’s son). But it’s nice to have a throwback to GH’s better days. I love nostalgia.

Soaphound
Yes, Emma is beautiful but it’s only skin deep right? I do not remember her on DYNASTY, only Pamela Sue Martin, funny! In the hospital.she did not call her son when Robt.tried to get her to do so??

I personally can’t stand Diane. I used to like her; thought her snark was amusing. Now she’s just judgmental 24/7, and way too aligned with Carly. Her attitude toward Nina even in the nail salon days before the trial even began made me want to slap her through the screen. She represents criminals, she supposedly knows the horrid history of Carly, but like all the other characters who are written to die on their sword for Carly, she ignores all of it and goes straight for the most hurtful parts of Nina’s life.

With that said, I love Robert and although I can see how these two characters play well off each other, I don’t see her fitting in with the vets that Robert’s close to, and I don’t see him dating her if she continues representing Sonny.

I do not want Diane with Robert. She reminds me of Edward G Robinson in a pantsuit.

Violet…Lucy also handled putting together the annual Nurses Ball when it really was a “ball.” I also prefer The possibility of Robert with Diane right now. But has she broken up with one of Sonny’s henchmen? I know Epifanny (sp.?) has.

rose
Yes,there has been no mention of them seeing these men anymore. I thought that was crazy anyway.

The real life brothers who portrayed Max and Milo both moved to Tennessee a few years ago. Max hasn’t been mentioned in a few years. Sonny’s current main bodyguard Frank has been on for about 2 years.

OG Steve
Thanks for clarifying. Milo sure was good looking.

It’s been great seeing Lucy and Robert driving story recently. With Holly back for a month or so, we’re guaranteed to see a lot of TR.

There’s little chance that Lucy is actually dead. Most likely scenario is that Victor rescued Alex Marrick after she went overboard and “programmed” her to shoot Lucy. Victor’s goons grabbed Lucy and are holding her wherever Holly was. They released Holly to distract Robert.

Holly’s appearance brings back memories of her first return from the dead in the early 90s just before Robert & Anna were presumed dead in the boat explosion with Faison.

Ah, good times.

Sounds good to me, OG Steve.

PS—-I think you may have solved the mystery, OG Steve. The shooter looks like Anna because it’s actually Alex.
Lew, also, made a good point——the shooter could be this Holly person?

Given Holly’s memory gaps, and the fact that her last known location was the dungeon on Cassadine Island, it’s certainly possible that Victor may have brainwashed her, much like he did Drew at the time. Somebody break out the Tarot cards and deprogram her already, if that’s the case.

Doesn’t mean she’s the shooter though. The shooter had Anna’s face, and there wasn’t time to do a proper “deep fake” with the video. ReRon isn’t writing the show anymore, so I doubt they would go back to the stupid latex mask gimmick, so that means the shooter is most likely Anna’s twin sister Alex. She’s “presumed dead”, but no body was ever found, and she’s not in Hell, so we all know what that means.

Yes, I think so, too, Satan. Alex, as the shooter, makes the most sense. Also, the shocked look on Lucy as she came face to face with the shooter, speaks volumes. She recognized “her” as Anna!! What an imbroglio—devised by a Greek with a British accent—kind of unrealistic, wouldn’t you say?—-and, the fact that his physiognomy (such an Anglo-looking dude) goes against all that is Grecian—-all for Victor’s pernicious quest? I am completely confused. Is Victor after something unique? Is it tangible?—-or is he just a mean, old son of a “cagna”?

Yeah… the original Victor had an Australian accent, but actually looked Greek. I still see Shane Donovan when I look at the current “Victor”. Or at least Shane’s evil twin Andrew.

As far as what his agenda is? I’ll be eternally damned if I know. He’s talked at great length about unifying all the remaining Cassadines (under his leadership, of course) and at some point he mentioned this unity was going to be required for some sort of “threat” coming against the family, but I don’t remember any follow up on what this alleged threat might have been. Whatever it is, he apparently thought Luke, and now Lucy were somehow in the way of him getting it.

LOL. Satan—-I see Mistah Sheffield; Mistah Sheffield, when I see “Victor”.
Your eloquent writing truly makes this unbodied plot/scheme border on the absurd. Victor does not seem to have a plan—-it’s like following the yellow brick road which veers everywhichway, leading nowhere.
Victor wants to unify the family—right!! Let’s see—great way to start is by taking Charlotte away from her father—the only parent she has, at this point. That makes so much sense.
The writers have no clue where this storyline is going, making Victor actually appear off his rocker—
I don’t know where this idiot plot is going, but I think this Holly-woman ( whom does not look as young at second, third and fourth look) is in on whatever dunce-Victor is up to. She is a piece of the puzzle—I feel it.
And, I doubt Lucy is dead. I hope not—she, at least, makes me smile—-considering I had to suffer through Teen-Carly and an overgrown Johnny-come-lately-fake-Drew…. What torture!!
I wish I could put all the pieces together. So far, I don’t see the logic.

PS, Satan—I forgot to mention that Victor’s Hocus Pocus is always conducted on the phone. To whom is he speaking? Is it someone we know? Someone who is supposedly dead?
(Correction–idiotic plot)

As far as I know, all the Cassadines who are supposed to be dead & in Hell are still here. Most of Victor’s phone calls have either been to his main henchman, Johan, or to others who we already knew were on his payroll, like the deputy mayor. There’s been some speculation that he might have messed with Holly’s brain while she was a prisoner on Cassadine Island, but she didn’t seem to recognize him when she slapped him upside the head the other day, so if she’s been programmed, either he didn’t do it himself, or he made sure that she would forget him (along with most other details of her recent past, apparently)

I barely met Holly, Satan, but I don’t like her already.
Well, if she were brainwashed by Victor ( which happens to be the common-denominator-name for bad boys in many a soap), perhaps he programmed her in such a way that she would not recognize him—to his advantage, of course. —Holly is another one of his minions—and, she will soon cause havoc. If more time had gone by, I would have thought this is actually Lucy in Holly-mode.
Nonetheless, some hanky-panky is certainly going on which involves both women, somehow—‘kinda’ dumb on the part of the writers, I would say—too coincidental??

Celia, Celia, I hate to wish bad on ANYONE. I take it back; in this case I look forward to wishing ill on TWO someones. I’ll explain: during those “oh so romantic (of the Pepto Bismol variety)” beach scenes with Carly and Drip, sorry, Drew, I kept looking in the distance, hoping for a rogue tsunami to end my suffering. Still waiting. WHO wants these scenes? What torture! Across the country, I’m enjoying Charles Shaughnessy’s Victor, but the character is playing like a schoolyard bully, not a brilliant nemesis. His lines can be reduced to, “Screw me over and I’ll make you disappear.” Which isn’t much of a reduction or much of a real evil genius.

Oh, my Lord—-I can’t!! I had to stop reading your comment for a minute—laughing so hard…—my tummy hurts. I need that Pepto Bismol —-A tsunami would be more welcomed—-That breathtaking, beach scenery was blemished by a pink blur and a an homo erectus ( again—pardon the pun—LOL)
Yeah, I like Charles, too—-but his infantile games are getting stale—
His only power is blackmail. Isn’t it wondrous how he never fails to have something magically land in his lap, to use as a weapon against someone? Mamma mia!!
Aside: I have a feeling Anna is exactly where she wants to be. In jail. The cogs in her WSB-brain are at the ready and fully charged!!

Soaphound—-they’re ba-aack—kissy-poos in the kitchen—-please don’t take it to the boudoir!! How many men have been in that bed?
I wanna barf and then shower!!

Sorry Celia, I can’t tell you how many men have visited Carly’s boudoir…my calculator only rounds to seven figures. Maybe a super- computer? Or perhaps Spinelli could create a new algorithm.

LOL, Soaphound—I hope Carly has the wherewithal to invest in new mattresses every so often. Ewwww!!
Aside–Brook Lynn and Chase—What a waste of mannhood and virility—a sculped body to boot!!…I don’t even have an appropriate name for her. Lot’s daughters come to mind: Rebekah, Rachel and Tamar–Good old Catholic School Catechism.
She hears her own discordant drum, not Chase’s. She does not deserve Adonis in her bed. And, he does not deserve such a deceitful lover. Apate personified!!

PS–as you know, I don’t know much about Carly—I was never interested enough to research—How many times has she been married? I know that she was a bad, bad girl—as far as shooting someone? Was that Sonny or AJ?.
PPS- sculpted, not sculped. I just got home and read my comment.LOL.
Also, I can’t believe Heather is not Robin —this nuHeather-woman looks like that person, called “Queen Consort”,–RIP, sweet, beautiful Queen Diana!!

Oh Celia, another resurrected character? Who the hell is certifying these dead bodies? Seems like you can order a lookalike corpse in Port Charles from a catalog!

Why break the tradition,Soaphound?
Another corpse come to life is overdue—it’s been a while. Helena? Peter? Is Faison dead? Can’t remember—I miss him.
I’m pretty sure “Amazon” (pardon the pun) offers a few of GH’s walking dead (women) available.

I have no idea who Holly is–I wonder if this is all related to Victor. Is the hooded “woman” who shot Lucy the “Hook”? Has Victor been behind all the stabbings and Brando’s death? So, is Esme “innocent”?

Holly was Robert’s second wife. She was also Luke’s second wife, though that was only a green card marriage to keep her from being deported, and would have eventually been invalid anyway as Laura turned out not to be dead. Holly was first presumed dead in a late 80s plane crash, but has returned a few times since then. She’s also the mother of Ethan, and they claim that Luke is his father, but that was a rewrite that never made any sense at all. Considering Holly was pregnant with Robert’s child when she “died” in the plane crash, it would have made much more sense for Ethan to be that child.

Now that Roswell New Mexico has wrapped up – and the mortally wounded CW network isn’t likely to give Nathan Parsons another prime time gig, I wonder if Ethan’s going to show up in Port Charles to visit his mommy?

WOW–Thank you for that very enlightening synopsis, Satan!! A true soap opera “melodrama”—I’m going to search the internet for some of these scenes— Holly seems too young to have been married to both Luke and Robert—and an adult son to boot?
Emma is awesome looking—one thing: I found it difficult to understand what she was saying, mainly because she barely opens her mouth when speaking—does not enunciate her words.
Again, thank you for taking the time….❤️

Minor correction- Holly and Luke were never married. After Luke was presumed dead in a plane crash, Robert, being the gentleman that he is, offered to marry her so she could stay in the states and raise Luke’s child. Sadly, Holly suffered a miscarriage but she and Robert eventually fell in love.

Actually Luke was presumed dead in an avalanche at a ski resort, but other than that you are correct, and my aging Devil memory betrayed me again.

The one weird thing about that is… how could Robert give Holly a green card marriage, when he wasn’t a US citizen himself at the time? I don’t remember how they got around that one… unless he got a shortcut to citenship by having so many friends in law enforcement, both locally & world wide.

Oh Celia, what a mess of quandaries. I gather the “hooded woman” was meant to resemble Anna as a setup, which implicates Victor. The real “hooker”? Who knows? I don’t think it’s Esme. On other topics, how adorable was Chase today, not wanting to disappoint Brook Lynn? What a guy.

Poor Anna!! She’s been had—the plot thickens…..
Yes, on other topics….
….A rarity, Soaphound—Chase, that is.
At the risk of sounding patronizing, when reaching a certain age, men revert to childhood—very dependent and self-centered. Chase is still too young, but I hope his dignity and altruistic nature/gestures never go out of style.
I’m not there yet, albeit my mother-in-law tells me that Italian mothers love spoiling their sons—especially first-born sons—glad mine isn’t the first-born son.LOL.
I tell you, Soaphound–not liking Brook-Lynn right now. She did a complete reversal–Sooo typically Quartermainish, don’t you think? She does not love Chase–he does because he’s sacrificing his own “wants” to satisfy hers!! Quelle noblesse!!’ She’s a spoiled, self-serving brat….

I know, Celia. I was really high on them until this rock star thing started. Now she seems obsessed with burning Linc. I mean if Chase was my guy, he’d be “off his feet” most of the time, not singing. Maybe they can be salvaged. The only other available gal that I like is Sasha and it’s too soon for her to move on.

You are so naughty, Soaphound—very bad influence on my virgin eyes/ears. HaHaHa and LOL..
Poor Chase being thrown hither and yon like a helpless little kitten–Brook Lynn should use all her Circe’s wiles getting to the bottom of “things” and let that tiger loose!! But, no!! She wastes precious, finger-licking time wheeling and dealing.

100 percent perfect! Anna had mentioned to Robert recently that Robert should find a “New” someone. Well, he has. Not so new but very much alive and its time for a love reunion! This gives Tristan the out if he wants to leave and ride off into the sun with his dear Holly!

Could it be she is working with Victor? Strange that she shows up when Lucy disappears. With no signs of trauma?

This is all a set up. No blood on the docks and a bullet casing with one shoe left behind as “evidence” and perfectly filmed by that drone which coincidentally happened to be in just the right place at the right time. I don’t know where Lucy is but I will bet Holly does.

A set-up. Hmmm—I like it, Jo. Too easy, too neat not to have been a well-thought- out plan—-—all to frame Anna and get her off Victor’s back. He knows she’s on his case of discovery—- kudos to the writers for deftly diverting Anna’s course—not that I like it, but it does give credence to the plot.

Look at it this way, Celia… this police tale will give Jordan more chances to pose and look “tough”, while Dante will inevitably suspect and arrest the wrong people. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has Leo or Wiley in the interrogation room next week.

LOL—you got that right, Soaphound. Funny how I really didn’t like nuJordan ( I took to second-Jordan immediately; more so than the original) so much. I thought she didn’t fit the role —but, now? Her sort of quiet, unassuming persona is very enigmatic. I love her, sort-of-detached, snobby ‘tude, yet she does not give herself airs,
Dante? Double LOL. He’s sooo scary!! Does he know which way is in or out? He doesn’t even lighten up coupled with Sam. What a mismatched couple—she is the most morose character ( almost Goth-like) on soaps.
What a bore—as my grandmother would say, ” What a drag!!” Let’s get couples with some steam!!
Aside—Remember Phyllis (Stafford) and Ronan ( Branson)? “I heat up and I can’t cool down”….Steve Miller Band–Abracadabra .
Ciao, bella.

Jo
After today’s show there is good reason to believe she’s up to her British neck in all this. I just hope it’s someone we’d never think of that’s pulling her strings and not the old Scrooge Victor. I’m so sick of him, in everyone’s lives.

Loving Robert’s screen time, but hate, hate, HATE the Diane pairing. No!!! I know that Holly is only on short-term, but I’d been hoping that Kim Delaney would come back as Jackie and that she and Robert would have another go!

Bill
I must say your thoughts are out of left field. I think as well as some others that Robt. and Diane together would be great. As far as Kim Delaney, she was quite boring last time as Chases mother, with not much added to the story, only to show she and Finn had a one nighter which they thought produced Chase, and then she was gone!

Bill, I’ll take Kim Delaney in any role—-better she with Robert than “Diane”. The woman feels too entitled, and I do not like anyone who root-root-roots for any criminal.
I wish she would make a come-back and be paired with Michael Knight!!

GH’s Tabyana Ali Responds to Nicholas Chavez Exit: “I Hope That We Will Get the Chance to Work Together Again Someday”

The “Sprina” that everyone knew and loved is not coming back in the form fans have been accustomed to, at least, anytime soon after Nicholas Chavez last week confirmed his exit from General Hospital.

After months of speculation if Chavez would return to his soap role, after exiting to film a leading role in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story, he revealed he has stepped away from the role via a post on his social media accounts.

Now, the other half of Sprina, Tabyana Ali, has offered up her thoughts on Nick’s exit from the series. Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, she shared, “I want the best for him and all of his endeavors and I hope that we will get the chance to work together again someday. I also want to show my gratitude to Sprina Nation as well.”

Photo: ABC

As to what the future holds for Trina, and where the character goes from here, Tabyana would like to see a character turn, adding, “I would like her to have a vendetta story or a revenge story. Or the love of her life is gone and now she just turned evil a little bit.”

However, Ali is very aware that Trina is not wired like that emotionally, at least, as she is written now, “I don’t know how much that would be possible. She’s such a kind-hearted person at her core.”

Photo: ABC

How would you feel if the show recast the role of Spencer with another actor, and brought Spencer back from the “dead”, given that his body was not found? Would you like to see another actor paired with Tabyana? Or, should Trina find happiness with a new love, and THEN, a recast Spencer shows back up?

And you never know, as Nicholas Chavez put it in his exit statement, “While there are no current plans for me to return, we are still talking very openly about future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles.”

Vote in our poll below, and let us know what your hopes are for Trina’s future, via the comment section below.

(INTERVIEW) Adam Huss Talks on His Latest GH Return, Maura West, Nicholas Chavez, and Being a Swiftie

This week, General Hospital fans were in for a surprise appearance when Adam Huss reappeared as Nikolas Cassadine while serving jail time in Pentonville. He also had a very intriguing visitor, his ex, Ava Jerome (Maura West)!

In the key scenes, Ava seemingly tells Nikolas, who can do nothing about the situation, how she is getting closer to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and within his inner-sanctum, much to Nikolas’ chagrin. For Huss, those scenes were difficult to shoot, because in real-life he has just lost his beloved grandmother, but he soldiered through and delivered an effective performance.

Adam has had quite the adventure as GH’s dark prince of the Cassadine clan. Having first subbed for former Nikolas, Marcus Coloma, a few times and over a few years time, then taking over the role and being instrumental in moving story forward, but yet not always physically on the canvas. Since taking over the role, Huss has put his own spin on Nikolas, while delivering some top-notch performances. Look no further than in scenes with the exited Nicholas Chavez (Spencer), the aforementioned West, GH icon Genie Francis (Laura), or the twins that the play Baby Ace (Joey Clay, who shares the role with twin brother Jay) to name but a few.

Michael Fairman TV chatted with Adam to get his thoughts on: Nikolas’ emotional state now, where he thinks the storyline may head in the future, his co-stars, reflecting on what the late Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas) brought to the role, and yes, some banter with us about Taylor Swift!  Check out what Adam had to say below.

Courtesy/ABC

Nikolas is kind of the gift that keeps on giving, as you keep popping back up on GH. Just when you think the show literally has written him off, he makes a return. Look no further than on Monday’s April 29th episode when he gets a visit from Ava while in prison.

ADAM: Listen, I’ve really fallen in love with playing the character. I’ve stated that I’m super passionate about it. I really like that the more I delve into his backstory, I learn about the layers of who he is. Watching Tyler Christopher’s (ex-Nikolas) work, because he really originated that character, I become even more enthusiastic about it. I have so much respect for this medium as it is. I’m a fan of TV and film. I am coming in to the story sometimes not knowing where Nikolas may be mentally. So, it’s been nice to be guided once you’re on set. You can’t come in with just your ideas and you have to be open to the collaboration. It’s been a challenge, but a lot of fun.

In the scenes that just aired opposite Maura West, it seemed you could tell that Nikolas still cared for Ava.

ADAM: I thought that was a happy surprise. I am so fond of Maura as a person. I could say that we’ve mutually grown closer each time I come in and play the part. I don’t think Ava knew what she was going to really get when she came to see Nikolas. When he saw her, I think he was just taken with her. It was interesting. There was one moment when she’s talking about Sonny. I felt as if Nikolas didn’t want to hear this, but I was advised by our director, Allison Reames Smith and Frank Valentini (EP, GH), “Remember, Nikolas hasn’t seen her in months and this is really exciting for him to be sitting across from her. ” So that really fed the motivation.

Courtesy/ABC

Nikolas gets an earful from Ava, and he is left with her secret, which is the dose of medication in Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) pills are causing him to act erratic. Ava kind of admitted to Nikolas what was going on and what she was planning.

ADAM: She did, and you’re right. I think she told him because it was safe, and in her mind he’s not going anywhere.

However, Nikolas isn’t always on the up and up, either.

ADAM:  No, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get what he wants. This is all speculation, but maybe to get her away from Sonny he uses the information she shared. I think Nikolas is thinking that he doesn’t want to see her get hurt, and, “I cannot lose another person right now. I lost my newborn son,” in that, he is not going to raise him. And even bigger, he lost his son Spencer who he believes is gone. So, imagine then losing the love of his life. Their last interactions around New Year’s Eve showed that he still had feelings for her.

Photo: ABC

So, when you first met Maura, what was your reaction to this daytime dynamo?

ADAM: From day one, she was so lovely to me. I tested with her. I got to know her in that moment. She was just so welcoming and wanted me to succeed. Then, when I did fill in for Marcus Coloma, the first time, she and Ken Shriner (Scott) were super lovely. It was like, “You’re my scene partner today. You are Nikolas today. Let’s have fun.” Each time I came in to work, I got the same thing, if not more – more trust, more openness and kindness. Then, as you’re aware, my grandma passed right before these most recent scenes. Maura was so lovely about it. We were running lines, but she just wanted to stop and talk about it for a second. I almost didn’t want to come to work. I just wanted to get home. Maura really got me focused. It was something you wanted to get off your chest with somebody. Then we filmed, and she called me after, and just made sure I was doing alright. I said to Maura, “You are a class act, you know that. Thank you so much.”  I am so glad I didn’t have to miss the funeral and I still got to film at General Hospital, which my grandma loved to watch me on.

Courtesy/AHussIG

Now. did you have any context when you started that your on-screen mother was Genie Francis (Laura)?

ADAM: I did. In the nineties, when I was on Long Island in college and working as a DJ in the summers, I just remember seeing soap opera magazine covers. I’d see that triangle between Nikolas, Lucky and Elizabeth. So, I very much knew of the world that those people were part of. I knew how big the Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura wedding was and all of that. I definitely knew the legacy I was coming into. When I read these sides for the role, I was like, “I think this is Nikolas Cassadine!” Later, when I was on the show, and doing scenes with Genie, where Laura was warning Nikolas about making up with Spencer, she said, “You’re doing wonderful work.” To hear that from her was a big sigh of relief for me. I love connecting with actors in the eyes. I know when things are cooking when you almost feel like magnets in your eyes with another actor, because you’re drawing that emotion through them. The eyes are the windows of the soul, right? I felt that with Genie, Maura and Nicholas Chavez, too. You feel that magnet pull and it’s so beautiful.

I’m going over your gut-wrenching scenes in my head. There was obviously when Spencer hands baby Ace  to Nikolas, and then the baby is so taken with you, and the scenes where Spencer tells Nikolas how much he loved him as a young boy and vice-versa.

ADAM: The three scenes you just mentioned are highlights for me in shooting the show thus far. Those moments felt so authentic to me. As soon as Spencer got Ace in my arms, I just would melt, and it made me emotional just to hold him. And then, he really took to me. His mom was like,”I think you kind of remind him of his father,” because there is a similar energy. He’s just a great little actor and a great little empath. The moment with him laying his head on my chest was so emotional. In the one scene with Nicholas Chavez, he’s supposed to not hand me Ace till the end, but as soon as we started the scene, the baby reached out to me with this smile. Nick is like, “OK, here you go.” We sort of had to improv around it a little bit, but it was amazing.

However, then there is the scene where Spencer cries about how Nikolas meant everything to him, too.

ADAM: I think Nikolas went to Spencer with the intention of like, “I’m taking this baby no matter what. And if I have to get through my son, I’m going, too.” There was so much power in the words that those writers chose especially when Spencer goes, “You were my whole world” as a child. Nikolas was saying how I loved him fiercely as a kid. I was watching a lot of those scenes between Nicolas Bechtel (ex-Spencer) and Tyler Christopher. That kid was such a dynamo, too, and he was so cute. Their bond stuck with me.

You are one busy actor. I check in on your Instagram and you are either in one town or the other shooting a horror film or other projects.

ADAM: Not just horror films, there’s a mix of Hallmark, too. I’m super excited about an indie film I did called Pieces of Lilo. It’s about an estranged father and son. In it, my father gets sick and I get stuck basically taking care of him. And then he passes and when I’m burying him, all these memories start flooding back. It’s this sort of flashback of basically trauma and how this trauma affected, my character, Jerry, in the present day. I fought for this part and I got it. We just wrapped in March. I’m excited about that. Next week, I am off to Long Island to do a rom-com called The Wedding Bell.

Don’t you also have a role in an upcoming Melrose Place-type streaming soap?

ADAM: Oh yes. I wish it was the Melrose Place reboot! I did work with Daphne Zuniga on a Lifetime movie, though. She was awesome, and we’re friends, so who knows? It’s called The BLVD and I’ve taped it already. There’s supposedly five more episodes they’re going to shoot soon. So, we finished the pilot and I play one of the one of the clients of the PR firm. It’s all about  cutthroat PR in Hollywood.

I know the fans really enjoy you in the part of Nikolas. However, the worst thing in soaps, I think, for any actor is having to replace a very well-known actor in a part; whether they’re good, bad, or indifferent. People just don’t like change. As a recast, you have to kind of go through that difficult part of waiting to be accepted by the audience. They often say how they don’t like the actor and then somewhere along the way, they are like “Oh! I love him in the part.” How has it been for you to ride that wave of, you’re not Tyler Christopher, you’re not Marcus Coloma, but now it’s you playing Nikolas?

ADAM: I get it. You want your original person to be the person, and sometimes they just can’t, and in soap operas, it’s more common. I also know it’s always polarizing. There were days in the beginning where I was like, “Oh, my God! Look at all these wonderful comments.”  Then it’s, “Oh, my God.” and as you’re scrolling, you see “I’m a hideous monster” to these people. I think you just have to have a very healthy perspective. Thankfully, I do have tools in my life to secure my foundation of who I am. And sure, on those vulnerable days or those ambiguous days where you don’t know your future at work, it could weigh on you. You could think of every, “Oh, my God! Everybody hates me.” I am so glad and grateful that people have come around. You’re not going to please everybody. It’s just the nature of what we live in now. I will say, the warm embrace and the acceptance, and people who have really come around, has moved me and then they’re feeling the same way about my performances. When I say I’m humbled by it, I’m blown away, it’s true.  I used to get annoyed at Taylor Swift when she would always say that. I’m like, “All right, honey, you’re selling millions of copies. Accept it.” But it is humbling, because you know how critical people can be, and for it to really start to change overtime, helps me every time I hear it.

Speaking of Taylor Swift, are you a Swiftie?

ADAM: I am a Swiftie, sure. I didn’t go to Taylor’s concert. I wanted to. But then, when my friend showed me The Eras Tour on Disney Plus, I was like, “That was amazing. That was like the best time.” I’d have a smile on my face for three and a half hours if I was at her concert. So, yes.

Did you listen to Taylor’s new album, Tortured Poets Department yet?

ADAM: Yes. I’ve been bouncing around in there. There are a lot of songs.

It’s a lot of songs. It took me a little bit to warm up to it. And now, just like in true Taylor Swift fashion, I’m like, “You know what? This track or that track is really good.”

ADAM: Yeah, at first they all sound the same for a minute.

So I wonder, how does Taylor Swift manage to suck us in all the time?

ADAM: I know. I think it works whenever someone’s just raw and honest. Taylor gets a lot of flak for talking about her exes and stuff in her songs, but that’s her life experience. We feel that and we resonate with that, especially younger girls, or anyone really, can relate to these like breakups and this heartache. I think that’s where she gets you.

Hopefully soon, it’d be nice to see Nikolas not in prison orange. So, he gets out of jail and where does he go then?

ADAM: I don’t want him on the run because that’s the whole reason he came to prison, you know, to reform himself. So, for me, that was a nice sign of like, “Hey, maybe the reformation comes and you finally get to be free.” Maybe Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) gets her law degree back and then she’ll help him get out. Wyndemere’s gone. It’s out of his hands. I think it’s a good time for him to start a different life and for us to see Nikolas in different stories. Let’s see a different person trying to put his family back together and falling in love again. If it’s Ava, wonderful, would love that. I’d love to see a really great, big epic love story like he had in the past. I try to infuse that when Nikolas is sitting across from Ava. The last thing I want to say is, I wish I was there at GH more, too. However, I really trust in the process and the writers, and the way things unfold. So, I’m hoping that it all leads to a beautiful place.

What did you think about the scenes this week on GH between Ava and Nikolas? Do you hope Adam Huss is back on-screen sooner than later? What are some of your favorite scenes with him thus far? Comment below, but ICYMI, below are the touching scenes between Spencer, Ace and Nikolas that GH fans are still buzzing about.
