Jonathan Jackson Pays Tribute to His GH On-Screen Brother, Tyler Christopher, “It Never Mattered How Much Time Would Pass Between Us Talking, We Were Immediately Present and Back Where We Left off”

They played, perhaps, the greatest brother duo on the soaps. Between them, they won 6 Daytime Emmys and now Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky)  has taken to social media to share his grief and pay tribute to his beloved on-screen General Hospital brother, Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas).

Tyler passed away on Tuesday, October 31st at the age of 50. While so many of Christopher’s co-stars have shared their remembrances, it is Jackson’s that is one of the most touching and profound. How iconic that Jonathan played the son of the legendary Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis), and Tyler played Laura’s other son. Together, their scenes lit up the screen.

Sharing his sentiments, Jonathan expressed how difficult it was to write about the loss of Tyler “My family and I are deeply saddened to learn of Tyler’s passing. He was a beautiful soul with so much compassion, love, humor and strength. I have so many memories both working together and journeying through different seasons of life together.”

Jackson went on to share, “I consider Tyler a brother as well as a friend. It never mattered how much time would pass between us talking, we were immediately present and back where we left off. He loved deeply and had a great passion for life.”

The former GH and Nashville star concluded his posts on X, acknowledging the difficult times Christopher found himself throughout his adult life: “Through all the trials Tyler continued to fight back against the darkness, and be a voice for mental health, compassion and goodness in the world. I’m truly at a loss for words. Our love and prayers are with his family and children. He will always be with us.”

Jonathan Jackson played the role of Lucky Spencer from 1993–1999, 2009–2011, and again in 2015. He is married to GH alum, Lisa Vultaggio (ex-Hannah). Tyler Christopher played the role of Nikolas Cassadine from 1996–1999, 2003–2011, 2013–2016, plus the role of Connor Bishop from 2004–2005 .

In addition, to Jackson, another GH alum, Amber Tamblyn (ex-Emily) also shared her grief on the loss of Tyler Christopher. Tamblyn expressed: “This is crushing news. Tyler Christopher was a generous scene partner who was always respectful and wonderful on screen and off. I send my love to my General Hospital family and to Tyler’s family for this tremendous loss.”

What do you think about the sentiments shared by Jonathan Jackson on the passing of his friend and longtime co-star, Tyler Christopher? Do you consider Lucky and Nikolas as played by Jackson and Christopher, one of the best brother duos in the history of soap operas? Comment below.

I’m so sad!

Moving and meaningful tributes by his co-stars.

If you’re going to break up Jackson’s tenure as Lucky, the same must be done for Christopher, who did not play Nikolas from 1999-2003, nor did he appear in 2012.

And, yes, one of the best set of brothers in daytime and likely number one in GH history. We never saw enough close moments between Robert & Mac. Way back Rick & Jeff had Monica between them. Tony & Frisco had some good moments. But none had the deep history of Nik & Lucky.

They did that. 1996-1999. 2003-1011 No one needs to be reminded of Stephen Martines. Unless Dateline wants to do a special on him.

So sad for Mr Christopher’s children. He was a good father.

That was corrected after posting. And yes, Martines story is good tabloid stuff

It’s ironic now, but the other day I was watching some old GH scenes on YouTube from 1996 when Stefan and Nikolas first came to town, when Lulu had the aplastic anemia and needed a bone marrow transplant. The scenes between Jonathan Jackson and Tyler Christoper when Lucky went into Lulu’s hospital room, and found this strange guy standing over her crib talking to her, saying he was Lulu’s brother, those were brilliant scenes between two young actors at the time.

I always loved the brotherly bond between Lucky and Nikolas on the show that slowly developed out of those first adversarial scenes, and it’s obvious that the bond existed between Tyler and Jonathan in real life. Very nice words from Jonathan.

JJ truly had a bond with TC that showed in all their scenes. Best brothers, indeed.

It always irks me when the long history of the soap genre seems forgotten. “The greatest brother duo on the soaps” seems a bit much although they were great together. From my beloved Guiding Light alone you had Ed and Mike Bauer, with 40 years of history. Not to mention Josh and Billy Lewis, with the incomparable Reva Shayne in the middle of them.

My point being that there were memorable brother duos who already had years under their belt when Jonathan and Tyler came along in the 1990s.

Like I said, they were great, but referring to the “greatest” in the genre feels too glib fir a genre with decades of history and memorable characters to draw from.

Maurice Benard Confirms Steve Burton is Upcoming Guest on ‘State of Mind’

Over this past weekend, General Hospital’s Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) revealed that he is finally going to have longtime co-star, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) on his State of Mind You Tube series for a sit-down interview.

While speaking with Soap Opera Digest at Nancy Lee Grahn’s (Alexis, GH) ALS fundraiser, Maurice confirmed the taping is happening this week and should be posted in about three weeks time.

Benard shared, “I wanted Steve Burton and I’m shooting him Tuesday, my good friend, but he’s been through a lot and I’ve been asking for three years, but he’s finally going to do it.”

Photo: ABC

In addition, to the episode, it appears Maurice also confirmed he will be doing a You Tube live on Tuesday, May 7th as well at 3 pm PT possibly with Burton.

As GH viewers know, for year Jason was Sonny’s henchman, and his right hand. Now upon Jason’s return, the two are at complete odds, due in part to Sonny’s medication being completely manipulated by Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and his growing paranoia.

As for what Burton will discuss, as Benard teased Steve has gone through a lot of personal ups and downs as well as professional, over the last three or more years, but has always landed on his feet. It will be interesting to hear this thoughts on those matters and how he soldiered through.

So, excited to see Maurice and Steve have a serious chat on State of Mind? Comment below.
