Things seem to be getting worse for Erica when a disembodied voice insists she tell Jackson that she doesn’t want to get married. After Jack gets the call from Erica he’s devastated while she’s shaken at having to break his heart. Caleb doesn’t believe what Erica’s told Jack (since in the call she claims it’s because of Caleb) and Opal admits the more she thinks about things the fishier they get. Krystal admits to Angie her feeling for Jack while Angie confesses Jesse hasn’t been himself lately. Marissa offers to help Bianca out with the Miranda situation since she is so stressed out over her mother. JR arrives with AJ and after he compliments her Marissa says she must deal with her feeling and isn’t going to freak out for AJ’s sake. JR thinks Marissa has been more open to him because of Bianca. Kendall talks with Griffin and tells him what’s happened with Erica. Ricky walks in to find Kendall upset and yells at Griffin, assuming he’s the cause. Jesse informs Griffin he is being charged with murder. Ricky yells at the guard he paid for botching up Griffin’s murder. Angie calls Jesse out on acting differently lately and he blames it on the case against Griffin and now Erica’s disappearance. Jesse confides in Brot that Angie can tell he’s not himself and decides he has to pull himself together to be a good father.

Jesse has trouble holding Lucy as he has flashes of his deceased baby. Tad questions him and thinks he’s pushing himself too far. David shows up at Angie’s to tell her about the extensive research regarding her blindness and she asks he stay and read it to her. Jesse kicks David out when he gets home and is upset Angie’s even listening to him. Bianca finds an emotional David in the park and reassures him that Marissa is doing well. Due to the fact the Miranda Center is receiving bad publicity as a result of what’s going on, Griffin decides he must resign. Cara’s upset Griffin’s going to lose his medical license and he tells Jake that whoever is after him made it personal. Jake is unhappy when Tad indirectly tells him to stay away from Cara, insisting he hasn’t done anything wrong. Kendall almost tells Griffin her suspicions about Ricky but changes her mind. Cara tells Kendall to stay away from her brother and takes a shot at Ricky for being so possessive. Kendall is alerted by her description of Ricky. Ricky makes plans for the two of them to start off fresh in a new city.

Tad finally allows Cara to help him with his investigation in to who shot her brother. They spot the man who stabbed Griffin at the bar at Krystal’s and when he leaves the two follow and split up for a better shot at catching him. Cara winds up being ambushed but Tad comes to her rescue. Jesse’s called in and the man is taken to the station. Griffin ID’s the guy as the one who stabbed him but the story’s turned around when the guy acts like he knows Griffin and says he did it to defend Diane. Greenlee seems to be making headway with Emma when she brings her down to Fusion but once she sees a photo of her mom, Emma gets upset and runs towards the elevator unaware that it’s dangerous. Once she’s freed Ryan insists her behavior stop immediately. While he has been trying to do things the “right way”, Scott finds that he isn’t getting the benefit of the doubt after he’s passed up for a job at the hospital. Thinking that honest work isn’t always the best way to go Scott calls JR to discuss opportunities for the both of them. While on a picnic with Ricky, Kendall wonders out loud what kind of person would set up Griffin. When Ricky discusses a conversation that Kendall had with Zach, she questions how he knew that, word for word.  Ricky quickly covers that she told him once after she had too much wine. Ryan and Ricky look through some of evidence of Diane and when Ricky finds a photo where he is clearly in the background he removes it. Needing some time alone, Kendall goes to the yacht where she accidentally discovers the original letter from Zach with the missing page that points the blame at the casino owners should something happen to him.

Erica tries to make a deal with her captor to let her go but gets no response. She tries to bust out but has no success with that either. Kendall tells Ryan that she might have proof Zach was murdered but cannot find Ricky’s name on the payment list for the Casino owners, but she does find Diane’s name. She reveals to Ryan that she suspects Ricky, but isn’t ready to involve the police just yet or falsely accuse anyone. Ricky overhears Tad and Cara talking about Griffin faking a ruptured spleen and he passes what he’s heard on to Liza who demands to see XRAY proof. Cara wants to fake the XRAY but Tad and Griffin make it clear she can’t otherwise she could be deported since it’s a felony. Griffin tells Liza that he is feeling better and she insists he go back to jail. Cara tells Kendall to stay away from her brother, worried he will wind up dead because of her. Kendall is able to convince Cara to help create a diversion from the police and tells Griffin she’s busting him out. Opal tries to reassure Jackson that Erica’s disappearance can be explained. Krystal shows up and Opal tells Caleb to spend more time with her because she is getting too cozy with Jack. Caleb’s not interested though especially since he still has hope things will work out with him and Erica. Krystal consoles Jack and says she is there for him, whenever he needs her.

Cara sets off the fire alarm in an effort to help Griffin escape. When Jesse takes Cara down to the station, Tad claims he was the one who set it off. Jesse thinks he’s lying but there’s nothing he can do about it. Cara breaks down that her brother is gone and Tad comforts her. Ricky tells Ryan that he wishes he could find a way to help Kendall let go of the casino owners/Zach but Ryan makes it clear that won’t happen since he and Kendall will never stop searching. Frankie worries that David might be trying to hurt Angie with his plan to cure her blindness. Angie tells Jesse that David is going to help her and he needs to give it a chance for her sake. Jesse agrees, but insists he’s keeping a close eye on David. After breaking him out of the hospital, Kendall tells Griffin her suspicions about Ricky. Ryan agrees to help them and they make plans to get Griffin out of the country. He doesn’t want to leave but they say their goodbyes. Before he goes Ryan assures Griffin that Kendall won’t be facing Ricky alone. Kendall heads home to prepare for her date with Ricky and finds him sitting on her sofa with the kids.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: Victor to Jordan: “You’re a Delusional Vicious, Bitch!” But, Is He About to Sic Her on Jack?

On the Friday, May 9th episode of The Young and the Restless, it has became abundantly clear that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is about to take revenge on his arch nemesis, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).

The manner in which he chooses to do so, may be the most heinous in Victor’s long list of masterminding plots. When visiting his prisoner, Jordan (Colleen Zenk) in the dungeon at the Newman ranch, she is trying to persuade him how he can’t let her rot down in the dungeon, in fact, he needs her and she can tell he wants something from her.

Jordan begs him for a hint of what he is planning, but Victor says,“It will be at a time of my choosing.” Jordan says she can help him in whatever he is planning. In fact, she can weaponize fear against someone; just look at what she did to his wife, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott)!

Victor yells at Jordan, “You’re a delusional vicious, bitch!” Jordan laughs and knows he wants her to do his dirty work. Victor says he will let her know when he decides. In the meantime, to torment her and to get her hooked on booze, as payback for getting Nikki back on the bottle, Victor reveals another bottle of vodka for her. He leaves it just in reach and just outside of her cell.

Next, Jordan tells Victor she needs food, not vodka. Victor slaps her hands away, and eventually walks out. Later, in the dungeon, Jordan paces tempted by the bottle, and screams for Victor to let her out of there and to tell her what he wants.

Back at the Newmans, Victor rants to Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Cole (J. Eddie Peck) that the family should stay away from the Abbotts. Victoria senses Victor is about to hatch a vengeful plot on Jack. Victor won’t admit to a thing.

At the Abbotts, Diane (Susan Walters) wants to walk out on Jack, due to his pill popping escapade to save Nikki. She is worried whatever move she makes might send him down the road to taking more pills. Jack swears he won’t do such a thing.  However, he is seems to be losing all the confidence from his entire family, which we can only take to mean he will be left open and vulnerable to whatever plot Victor hatches and uses Jordan to execute. All signs point to attempting to send Jack over the edge and spiraling downward into addiction.

So, what do you think will happen? How will Victor use Jordan to seek revenge on Jack Abbott? Comment below.

THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS: Jack and Nikki Hit Rock Bottom with Riveting Performances by Peter Bergman and Melody Thomas Scott

If you caught the Thursday, May 2nd episode of The Young and the Restless, you witnessed an extraordinary episode filled with two unforgettable performances, that without a doubt will be remembered for 2024’s year-end accolades and next year’s Daytime Emmys.

In what at times reminded us that we were watching a two-person stage play or Y&R’s version of the classic motion picture, Days of Wine and Roses, two addicts hit rock bottom.

The episode only featured Melody Thomas Scott and Peter Bergman. The set-up, Nikki has gone on a massive bender alone in a GCAC suite, with booze bottles everywhere, slurring her words, sweating, the works. Jack, who is Nikki’s sponsor, ex-husband and friend, finds her and tries valiantly to get her to stop drinking and to sober up. He wants to get them to an AA meeting, he wants to get her to rehab. Throughout, while she is self-loathing on herself, Jack is reciting to her all the things she has to live for including Victor, her children, her charity work, etc.

Photo: JPI

All of this is falling on deaf ears because all Nikki wants is for Jack to leave, so she can continue drinking and be left alone with her vodka bottles.

At one point, she shoves Jack and says, “You have to want to get sober, but I don’t.”  Nikki throws an empty vodka bottle in disgust and tells him to stop with his damn positivity. She wants him to leave and smugly says,“You really think you can fix me?” She finds another bottle and opens it, but it’s empty. She smashes the bottle on the floor and runs into the bathroom.

Jack continues to plead with her that she is not to blame about Jordan and for Harrison being kidnapped. Trying to distract her, he talks to her about happy times with her family, orders food and coffee and water to help sober her up, but nothing is getting through to Nikki.

Next, Nikki says all his talking is making things worse, as he tries to grab the vodka bottle from her hands, but she won’t let it go. “I’m sorry I picked you as my sponsor,” Nikki angrily says to Jack. That moment stings Jack.  She tells him he ‘failed’. He couldn’t help her and now Victor can say, “I told you so.”

Slowly, Jack is losing his grip, with all the frustration and hurt Nikki has thrown at him. Nikki tells Jack to join the party or get out. Jack says, “Fine. I will.” He grabs a bottle and pours a drink. “Wow, that’s smooth. I see you sprung for the triple-distilled.” Nikki sneers, “Do you really think you can get me to stop by drinking half of my supply?” Jack suggests they order some vermouth. “Let’s see if Ol’ Smilin’ Jack can have fun again.”

Next, in a harrowing moment, Jack dials his former drug dealer, Kieran, to make a delivery to the suite. Jack tells Nikki she’s right. “I’ve been wound too tight for too long. It’s time to get loose!” Nikki is shocked at what she is seeing.

Now, Nikki is trying to to get the vodka bottle out of Jack’s hands but he won’t let her take it. Jack pours another drink and says he’s been a failure as her sponsor so to hell with it. “Don’t you try your reverse psychology on me,” Nikki spouts. After doing a toast to their marriage, friendship and Jordan, Jack tells Nikki, everything is not all about her.

He goes into the hell he has been through with Harrison, Ashley, Diane and Kyle and Nikki.  He wants some relief! Nikki reminds him alcohol was never his problem. Jack says he needs something stronger. Just then, a knock comes at the door. Jack pushes Nikki away and a delivery comes from Jack with a bag of pills. Jack says ,”Now, this is what hits the spot.”

Nikki is freaking out, but Jack says he has to remember what it feels like. When he holds the pills in his hand, that gives him comfort. Jack is grateful for their bond. “I would do anything for you.” He says he will go to rock bottom with Nikki, so they can climb out together. Jack remembers Diane was worried that helping Nikki might tempt him back to the pills. He told her there was no chance. He says, “It would help everyone else if they didn’t have to deal with Mr. Uptight.”

Even after all that, Nikki wants Jack out of the room. “Too bad, you’re stuck with me,” Jack says. He pours another drink and takes a pill out of the plastic baggie. Jack puts the pill in his mouth as Nikki shouts, “No!” Jack wonders how it feels to know you’re unable to help someone you care about. With that, he takes a drink to swig down the pill.

Nikki thinks he faked taking the pill, so Jack takes another one “There’s something liberating about just giving up.” Jack sadly says he let her down as a friend, and as a sponsor. Jack now blames himself for her massive bender. As he continues to down the pills, Nikki says she’ll get sober and will have something to eat.

However, Jack says this feels too good to eat. He takes yet another pill. Nikki tells him to give her the pills, because he can’t mix them with alcohol. Nikki’s phone makes a noise, so Jack grabs it and pretends it’s Victor on the other end, and then does his impression of Victor raising his eyebrow. Jack wants to continue his party, as he gets higher on the pills. Nikki says she does need a meeting. Jack pulls her close and says, “Dance with me.” As Nikki, pulls away, Jack passes out on the sofa. Nikki screams and we fade to black.

All we can say is, what towering performances by Peter Bergman and Melody Thomas Scott, and a great script for them to play these scenes in. It was gut-wrenching and raw, and one of the best episodes on the soaps in a long time.

So, what did you think about Jack and Nikki hitting rock bottom? What did you think of Peter and Melody’s performances? Do you think Jack will now be back with a drug habit, while Nikki will finally sober up? Comment below.

Christopher Cousins Makes His Y&R Debut: What Were Your First Impressions of Alan Laurent?

Soap veteran, Christopher Cousins (ex-Cain, OLTL et al), made his first appearance on The Young and the Restless on the Tuesday, April 30th episode of the CBS daytime drama.

As previously reported, Cousins is taking on the role of Ashley’s friend/psychiatrist from Paris, Alan Laurent. In story, the Abbotts flew Alan in from Paris to see Ashley (Eileen Davidson) first-class ticket to Genoa City, no less.

Alan recalls to Traci (Beth Maitland) how Ashley was upset after revisiting the cafe where she had the fight with Tucker (Trevor St. John), and had two different versions in her mind of what actually happened. Traci enlightens Alan that Ashley has been having personality shifts from being assertive, to child-like, to taking tequila shots and having a good ole’ time. In addition, that Ashley is having blackouts with chunks of time gone from her memory.  Traci goes on to say that Billy (Jason Thompson) said he once experienced something like this himself with a personality splinter.

Photo: JPI

Traci is hoping Alan can talk to Ashley and insist she undergo treatment. Alan firmly explains that he can’t treat her himself, but he will see what he can do.

When Ashley, now as her alter Belle, comes to the Abbott home after chatting with Diane (Susan Walters) at Crimson Lights, she is thrilled to see her old friend, Alan. Eventually, the two head to Society where a concerned Abby (Melissa Ordway) pours them some champagne.

Photo: JPI

The two talk about Paris as Belle flirts with Alan. She then wonders if he is in town to probe her innermost thoughts. She tells Alan that her family has decided there’s something wrong with her. Alan assures Ashley that he cannot treat her as a patient in the U.S. as he is retired and does not have a license to practice in the states. Alan said he is concerned for her, but would never treat a friend.

Photo: JPI

Belle tells Alan, “The rumors about my mental breakdown are highly exaggerated.” Belle speaks to the other alters, and thinks Alan is the perfect solution for Ashley. She says, “Time for some joie de vivre.”

What did you think of Christopher Cousins in his new role as Alan Laurent? Will Ashley’s alters get Alan in bed with her? Will she set him up for something more devious? Will Alan figure out what is going on with Ashley and pretend to just be her friend, while somehow treating her multiple personality disorder? Let us know in the comment section below.
