Finally! Fantastic news for Days of our Lives fans and those of the beloved super couple Jack and Jennifer! Matthew Ashford announced very late last evening via his facebook, and it has been confirmed, that he is returning to the role he made soap-famous, Jack Deveraux!
Matthew posted this statement: “I wish to make an announcement. I am happy to report that I will be returning to NBC’s Days of our Lives as the character of Jack Devereaux sometime later this month. I do not know any real specifics but look forward to this opportunity to play jack and work with old and new friends. More news forthcoming soon. Thank you for all your support!”
This is tremendous news for fans of the series and Jack and Jennifer who have been lobbying for months to get Ashford back to his rightful place in Salem. Now that Jennifer played by Melissa Reeves is striking up a romantic relationship with Dr. Daniel (Shawn Christian) you can see where Jack’s return can now figure into this equation, and make for some dramatic and romantic upcoming story, as DAYS plan to re-set itself and re-establish some of its past glory. Stay tuned.

It never made sense that Jack Deveraux, who was not John or Bo, who hated the outdoors, would go on a walkabout; it never made sense that Jack who was never religious would do something spiritual as doing a walkabout and then going to India to stay at an ashram. Hopefully there is more to the story. No one has spoken to Jack, only read his out-of-character blogs. Hopefully Jack is in hiding to protect his family, or better still taken hostage. And this time, not by Stefano, but by Lawrence, who was Jack’s nemesis — Jack more than Bo tangled with Lawrence. With Vivian on the show, and Carly, and the things he did to Jennifer and Bo, it would bring in many characters to an umbrella storyline. And please, BASTA, with the out-out-character Jack as silly. Make this experience revert him to his darker, angst ridden, cynical self. And work from there. And no sex between Jennifer and Dan, he is a sleazy doctor and that is not Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux Deveraux.
But Matthew’s return is the one thing which will get me back to watching. Matthew does so much in the role and is so talented. Let him be Jack of pre-1991.

Oh yes I totally agree. Jenn is not herself… when she returned to Salem I knew that there was something different about her and that was Jack was missing from her life. She is a wonderful actress, don’t get me wrong, but she is better with Matt at her side… they are wonderful together… I truly cannot wait for this to happen…

Zip-i-dee-doo-da! Days has been so awful lately. It’s a ray of light! My favorite “Days” character/actor back on the screen—I just hope the writing is good. I’d like to add my plea that Jack be written as Sally suggests, more pre-1991. Clever & witty, yes. Buffoon—no! Yes, let’s bring back some angst and darkness when he comes back with a good reason for being gone and walks into the current mess. Time for Jennifer to have to regain his trust this time around!
Yes, Jack’s humor was more sardonic and intellectual, and it was a mask. Jack was not a clown, but a darker character. The humor was born out of his cynicism and self-loathing for the horrible things he had done, not because he was a doof. Jack was cultured and sophisticated born out of his upbringing, but he also was socially awkward and slightly nerdy, but not over-the-top so. All this was Matthew’s doing. And back in the 80s and early 90s TPTB worked with this and added it to his character.
Despite the terrible treatment Matthew received from 1991 onward he loves the show, loves working with his fellow actors, and loves Jack — though never an apologist for him; he has always wanted to return. And he has a fan following. And I am sure, if allowed to play REALJack not the butchered version he would gain newbies as fans as well.

Stand Up to Cancer in collaboration with Alan Locher and Michael Fairman, will come together for a a three-hour livestream benefit, Daytime Stands Up: A Benefit for Stand Up To Cancer … We All Have a Story.
Several stars from from daytime drama television past and present are scheduled to participate for an evening of stories of emotional on- and off-screen experiences with cancer, and moving tributes to beloved daytime favorites who lost their battle plus musical performances.
Daytime Stands Up: A Benefit for Stand Up To Cancer … We All Have a Story, streams live on Thursday, May 16, from 8 to 11 p.m. ET/5 to 8 pm PT simultaneously on StandUpToCancer.org and YouTube channels The Locher Room and Michael Fairman Channel.

Tune-in for cancer survivorship stories with General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison and The Young and the Restless’ Colleen Zenk, who will reflect on the impact of publicly sharing their diagnoses; 2024 Daytime Emmy nominee Eric Braeden, who shares his cancer journey as well his memories of beloved The Young and the Restless co-star Meg Bennett, who passed from cancer April 11; and more.
Moving tributes to soap stars who’ve lost their cancer battles, including: Daytime icon Jackie Zeman, who played nurse Bobbie Spencer on General Hospital for 45 years, shared by daughters Cassidy MacLeod and Lacey Gorden, a tribute to Elizabeth Hubbard who played the iconic Lucinda Walsh on As the World Turns and Dr. Althea Davis on The Doctors, as shared by her on-screen daughter Martha Byrne and real-life son Jeremy Bennett, two-time Emmy Award-winner Jerry verDorn (Guiding LightOne Life to Live), shared by widow Beth verDorn and his on-screen wife on Guiding Light, friend and co-star Liz Keife, the iconic Andrea Evans, who played Tina Lord Roberts on One Life to Live, shared by her husband Stephen G. “Daytime television invites viewers into the private lives of characters, often bringing important issues like cancer screenings into living rooms and around water coolers. Soaps debuted the first cancer storyline in 1962 – years before the topic was discussed in the mainstream, and it left an indelible impact: a whole generation of women who scheduled a potentially life-saving Pap smear for the first time,” said Daytime Stands Up host Alan Locher. “For so many viewers, this brought the issue front and center,” added co-host Michael Fairman. “Today, it’s become almost impossible to avoid; but there is hope with cancer research, thanks to organizations like Stand Up To Cancer.”
SU2C Co-Founder Sue Schwartz, SU2C President and CEO Julian Adams, Ph.D., and SU2C Health Equity Committee Member Elizabeth Jaffee, M.D., will also participate to speak to the importance of early detection, exciting scientific breakthroughs, and the ongoing work yet to be done to make screenings and treatment equitable for all.
“This year, an estimated 2 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer, presenting an opportunity for the public to stand with us and rise to the occasion,” said Adams. “We’re thankful to Alan Locher, Michael Fairman and our friends from the daytime television community, who will raise critical funding to honor those we’ve lost – and to propel new scientific breakthroughs for current and future patients. Everyone has a story, and we’re grateful to all of you for sharing yours.”

Deidre Hall to Guest Star on Season 3 of Comedy Series ‘Hacks’

Days of our Lives star Deidre Hall (Marlena) is set to play a version of herself on third season of Hacks. Look for Hall this month in an episode titled “The Deborah Vance Christmas Spectacular,” to air on May 23 on Max.
Not only will Hall appear in the episode, but so too, will Back to the Future and Taxi star, Christopher Lloyd.
According to EW.com, Deidre will play “a fictional version of herself, who just so happens to be the mom of Paul W. Downs’ Jimmy.”

Hacks co-creator and Downs’ wife, Lucia Aniello shared on Hall’s casting, “It made sense to us that Jimmy’s late father, a big-time manager, would have been married to an actress. When the idea for Deidre Hall came up, it just felt right.”
As for Lloyd, he will portray, reclusive writer Larry Arbuckle, who is to have had a rather famous grandfather. In the episode, Hall and Lloyd’s character intersect, which leads to onscreen sparks.

Peacock Raising Subscription Prices $2 Dollars a Month This Summer; Includes Days of our Lives

As the Paris Summer Olympics are a few months away, the Peacock streaming service has revealed its plan for a two dollar summer price hike on its subscription plans, beginning in July for its content which will include Days of our Lives.
According to Deadline, in July, look for the monthly price for Peacock Premium to increase to $7.99. Premium Plus, which offers limited advertising, download capability and live local programming, will now be $13.99, while Annual plans will go up to $79.99 for Premium and $139.99 for Premium Plus.
This price hike will effect new customers starting on July 18th, while existing subscribers will notice the price change on their next billing date on or before August 17th.

This marks the second price change in two years for the streaming service, the previous one being in 2023, which was the first since the service launched back in 2020. The Summer Olympics in Paris which will be on NBC and Peacock run from July 26 to August 11.
The bright spot for Days of our Lives fans, is that unlike if the show was still on network television and NBC, the show would be preempted for two weeks, but with it being on Peacock it will continue with all-new episodes without interruption.

At the recent Days of our Lives 15K episode celebration, Michael Sluchan the EVP, Current Scripted Programming & Limited Series for NBC/Peacock shared that the soap opera is doing extremely well for the streaming service, and they were very happy with its performance.

It never made sense that Jack Deveraux, who was not John or Bo, who hated the outdoors, would go on a walkabout; it never made sense that Jack who was never religious would do something spiritual as doing a walkabout and then going to India to stay at an ashram. Hopefully there is more to the story. No one has spoken to Jack, only read his out-of-character blogs. Hopefully Jack is in hiding to protect his family, or better still taken hostage. And this time, not by Stefano, but by Lawrence, who was Jack’s nemesis — Jack more than Bo tangled with Lawrence. With Vivian on the show, and Carly, and the things he did to Jennifer and Bo, it would bring in many characters to an umbrella storyline. And please, BASTA, with the out-out-character Jack as silly. Make this experience revert him to his darker, angst ridden, cynical self. And work from there. And no sex between Jennifer and Dan, he is a sleazy doctor and that is not Jennifer Rose Horton Deveraux Deveraux.
But Matthew’s return is the one thing which will get me back to watching. Matthew does so much in the role and is so talented. Let him be Jack of pre-1991.

Zip-i-dee-doo-da! Days has been so awful lately. It’s a ray of light! My favorite “Days” character/actor back on the screen—I just hope the writing is good. I’d like to add my plea that Jack be written as Sally suggests, more pre-1991. Clever & witty, yes. Buffoon—no! Yes, let’s bring back some angst and darkness when he comes back with a good reason for being gone and walks into the current mess. Time for Jennifer to have to regain his trust this time around!
Yes, Jack’s humor was more sardonic and intellectual, and it was a mask. Jack was not a clown, but a darker character. The humor was born out of his cynicism and self-loathing for the horrible things he had done, not because he was a doof. Jack was cultured and sophisticated born out of his upbringing, but he also was socially awkward and slightly nerdy, but not over-the-top so. All this was Matthew’s doing. And back in the 80s and early 90s TPTB worked with this and added it to his character.
Despite the terrible treatment Matthew received from 1991 onward he loves the show, loves working with his fellow actors, and loves Jack — though never an apologist for him; he has always wanted to return. And he has a fan following. And I am sure, if allowed to play REALJack not the butchered version he would gain newbies as fans as well.

I am sick and tired of Princess Jennifer act I hope when Billie comes to town that she hooks with Jack because I do not want Jennifer near Jack anymore until she gets some therapy and earns Jack’s trust again. I do not want Jack to forgive her either let her suffer with Daniel. I hope Bo and Hope side with Jack after Jennifer abandons him and goes to Daniel because I am sick of her behavior.
They need stop making Jack look like fool and sexless loser to Jennifer too. I really want him to get new love interest and get his life back after he is cured and find out what she did with Daniel and divorce Jack without knowing all the facts she had sex with Daniel. Jennifer is one who needs to lose everything because I am sick and tired of her Saint Acts that she is pulling. Bo and Hope need to realize that Jack is not the problem here it is Jennifer who lying to everyone especially herself who she wnats to be with. I am tired of this show making Jack look like fool for Jennifer. I cannot stand Jennifer anymore I hate her she is reporter if she wanted Jack back so badly then she use her reporting skills to find him but instead she went on and dated that Dr sleaze and divorce Jack and slept with Daniel now she stuck in this stupid triangle. I hope both men dump her she deserves it. I want Jack to really have edge and go back to the darkside and not forgive Jennifer this time she gave him hell let her have taste of her own medicine this time. I say let Jack be sexy and hot and have good romance with Nicole he is not that old compare to Victor, Jack is hot good looking better than Daniel.
I am not fan of Jennifer right now she is acting like cruel bitch and so is Abby she needs get over it. Her father suffering so badly enough he does not need two whining women in his life to give more hell. I want Jack to bond with Abby not Jennifer she can suffer with Daniel all she wants and I want see Jack move on after visting the Veterans and all I do not want him to suffer with Jennifer whining let her go to Daniel and let Jack be happy with someone else for awhile maybe Madison or Nicole or Billie and Abby should support her dad in this just like she push her mom to that sleaze. Jack deserves better.
i hope when Billie come back to town that she hooks up with Jack and Jennifer can have that loser Dr for herself and wish that she was with Jack instead and Jennifer has always been jealous of Billie so this would be great to see Jack and Billie interact again I hope turns into more than friendship I would love see Jennfier turn green with envy and Daniel probably wants Billie too whatever Jack wants Daniel wants so he maybe go after Billie but Billie does not want him at all. I think there is going to be Jennifer/Jack/Billie/Daniel love triangle in works.
Jennifer is one who need to beg for Jack to forgive her but I do not want Jack to accept Jennifer back right away I want him mad and hurt that she moved on quickly with Daniel and slept with him because there is no excuse for her behavior and she calls herself reporter that is a joke. I want Jack away from Jennifer for awhile let her stay with Daniel have her Perfect life with him then she will regret changing Jack. I want see his sister Adrienne and others to support him and let Jennifer get stuck with Daniel.
Jennifer needs to honest about her feelings for Jack instead of leading him on thinking they have future together. Jack is not coward it is Jennifer. If she wants to be with Daniel then she needs to let Jack go and let him be able to get life back and the paper and new love but she just stringing both men along so she can have both attention on her.

I want Jennifer get rude awaking when she chooses Daniel that Jack is heartbroken and leaves her and gets on with his life and Daniel decides to cheat Jennifer and Jennifer crys and gets mad at Daniel and Jennifer wants Jack back but he does not take her back this time tells her it is over between them.
They need stop treating Jack as sexless loser he deserve better treatment than this. I find Daniel as pathetic loser and he is not that sexy either sleeping with his patients I have no respect for his character.
This show is not going anywhere with Jack not there and the writers have no interest in showing him I feel this show will be cancelled. If Jack/Matthew Ashford come back I do not want him to take Jennifer back so quickly she has been unfaithful witch and shrew as well and I think it is time that Jack and Jennifer break up I think they need send Jennifer off with Daniel since she did the deed with him and everything they are both ruined already and pathetic and give Jack new love maybe Billie they can be new Supercouple. Jennifer is lost cause.
I like jack, he is my favorite on dool ,I also dont want him with jenn ,I havent been watching long enough to call jenn a shrew ,Is she ?but Im not sure if I like her or not ,the games that she was playing when he did come back I didnt like .so hopefully a new love interest for our favorite man is in the future,and seeing more of him would be nice to.
i really mad that Ken Corday fired Matthew Ashford again one my favorite characters we are stuck with boring pathetic Jennifer again with sleeping with another loser again.
