Let us know your thoughts!   We are glad that the show is spicing up their open, and we are hoping other shows will follow, ahem, Y&R where is that new opening?  DAYS, can we get rid of the hourglass for something incorporating its signature symbol, but move it into 2012?

I don’t like it. The music is, well. . . irritating. And I much preferred the shots from the previous opening. GH has so many things that need fixing right now. The opening should be the least of their concerns.

Meh! Not that impressed with it sorry to say.

I don’t even watch GH BTW and yet I don’t even like this new open that Frank’s crew came up with. It’s horrible.

I liked it okay but think it is a bit short..one misses it if one blinks..I miss the theme being so dominant that you KNOW your show is on from hearing it even in another room. Sorry been watching since before Luke and Laura..old school I know. DO like the coupling of characters though. Newer time slot will not be too bad I was a OLTL watcher.. won’t watch Katie or the CHEW either.

Visually attractive, but too short on displaying the actors.

I have an open mind, but my first impression is that I prefer the old one because the new one uses publicity stills that have been around forever. I liked the “freshness” and the movement of the old. But I’ll give it a couple weeks to get used to it.

Great opening but if you’re telling the same stories (baby switching, child killing, variations on a hackneyed mobster story ) over and over this is like putting lipstick on a pig.

They need to go back to the good old days of GH…Remember Dr. Hardy, Audry, Lucille,Baldwins,Tiffany & Shawn donnelly. What happen to Bobbie Spencer???

Bobbie got shoved inside the Veteran’s Closet.

I heard that she destroyed her face with to much plastic surgery. Hey susan m. were you near any of that bad flooding in florida we were lucky but very close to where that poor girl was sucked out of her home by a tornado and killed holding her baby, baby is ok, Very sad.

Barbara t. loves One Life To Live #1……..No I wasn’t near any of the bad flooding in florida…We were lucky also…You said Bobbie Spencer killed her face with plastic surgery…That collagen shot in the lips…They do to much & it looks like they have a fat lip….Monica’s face doesn’t look that great either….Some of them over do with the plastic surgery..Look at Joan Rivers she looks horrible….

Are you kidding? It looks like a billboard ad for a science fiction show. Someone call in the Scyfi network STAT. As for Days, you gotta be kidding!? That damn hourglass has been running out of sand for almost fifty years, and I hope they never change a thing.

Funny and accurate comment. I like sci-fi. I almost hope GH keeps it. It’s like starting the show with a joke. But replace the music to be more sci-fi. How about some saxophone music from Blade Runner?

Re: Days, exactly! Don’t EVER change it! If they ever did, no matter how good they try and make it, people will still criticize! If it aint broke, DON’T FIX IT! I love Mac Carrey’s voice over, and the hourglass is timeless. Leave it alone!

Your right Jules, I stopped watching days almost 40 years ago, when I lost All my children I started watching again and it is the same now as it was back then, I agree with you if it’s not broke don’t fix it. As far as General hospitals new opening goes, I only seen and heard 12 seconds so I’ll wait till I can see and hear the whole thing then make a comment.

Are you serious? Lose the hourglass? Soaps are all about continuity – and everyone knows exactly what show it is without even looking when you hear McDomald Carey’s voice!!

I agree! The hourglass & McDonald Carey, The Y&R themesong….that identifies them! When I hear those I know what show is on. With regard to the new GH opening…I’m neutral. If it allows for more ad revenue (time) or show time, I’m all for it. Love GH no matter the opening.

Do not like it at all!! No familar theme, the photos do not move like they did before, they are flat and why is Sam with Jason and John?? I prefer how they had the families together, and want the GH them song back. Also it makes Pt Charles look like a large metropolis, I thought it was suppose to be a small town (with gangsters! and fancy hotel)

If they plan to rotate, I hope they have Epithany and Molly! Prefer no newcomers…

Sam is with Jason and John because (as I have heard) they are to have some kind of angst/flirting, kind of like a triangle. It depends on how long the show goes on for. If longer than next year, than it’s possible John and Sam could be a couple with Jason and Sam as the end game.

I thought Port Charles had an area code of 716, which is from around my old neck of the woods, upstate New York. So I think of Port Charles as like Rochester, but I believe that GH exaggerates how big it would actually be. And I know it can be heavy on crime sometimes, but I do not know of mafia families. 🙂

Well, since “Epiphany” and “Molly” are not on contract, they will never be in the open.

But is Sean on contract??

Yes, unfortunatly Sean is.

It’s way too fast and probably the worst opening I’ve ever seen for a soap or any television show EVER!!!!!

I think its pretty good. Its flashy and updated, kind of reminds me of a faster version of B&B. Do I still love and miss the faces of the heart heck yes! But I don’t hate this opening.

Blink and you miss it. I like streamlining and understand the need for speed so as to have more room for advertising. But while it’s slick, glossy and has a certain sleek look, it’s “cold”, not “warm” and inviting.

totally agree!

Don’t care for the new opening. The music sounds bad, the grouping of characters don’t all make since and why are only some of the characters pictured? Back to the drawing board.

This may seem dramatic but the reason I’m about to talk about is why I no longer watch soaps. Why does Jason have first billing? The foundation of the show is still screwed up and that is why I have no urge to even watch.

I like it very much and look forward to Mondays flip. I think it is great that GH is entering the 21st century on the + side. GH needed changes stat and so glad we now have a team that is very interested in saving this nearly 50 yr old soap. Congrats to the brass that wanted change. Good luck GH and support staff on years of service to come for us viewers. Thank you all so much:>)

I agree! I love it! it’s new, it’s fresh, it looks so sharp and polished – like the cityscape too… the further we get from that old ambulance siren opening they used to have, the better.

I like the cityscape and if the groupings rotate to show families or couples together that would be even better. As you said Michael, the EP said this was a shortened version that we all saw today and there will be more on Monday. Looking forward to seeing that! The only thing I really don’t. like is the theme music. Absolutely love GH’s with the smoky, sax that we all are most familiar with. They even played that one at the Emmy Awards last Saturday. I know it’s the only theme song I want to hear . It is too distinctive to GH and should remain as a major part of it’s history. Would also like to have Tony Geary be separate and apart from any of the other cast members as he has been shown that way for a long time. I for one always thought that was so cool and made it so different from any of the other Soaps. I hope these changes can be made soon!

I prefer the classic openings. If GH has to save time, they should go back to the ambulance.

That makes sense too. GH is in critical condition and they need chase up some viewers STAT.

GH added 128,000 viewers last week, so it looks like they’re doing a pretty good job of chasing down some new viewers.

DIITO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree, abulance better then this new opening done by 5th graders.

I think the “ambulance opening” makes sense…it’s classic and if an actor leaves the show then they aren’t still appearing in the opening. I always thought that was awkward…an actor not on the show being featured in the opening sequence.

Dont like it at all. PLEASE go back to the “longer” opening with ALL the contract players like before & PLEASE add the new people…Anna, Starr, Kristina, ect. Thank you !

Anna and John were there. Sounds like others will be on the open on Monday. This is like OLTL used to be…they had two different opens that they rotated.

Don’t foget Michael Easton’s picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John’s picture is right there at the beginning, the pictures move so Quickly I have a hard time seeing all of them and I still don’t know if I like the music or not.

They need to slow down the intro to GH so you can see the actors…Yes it goes too fast…I ‘m not sure about the music either.. Barbara t. Loves OLTL #1….I hope you have a good 4th……………………………

Don’t like the new opening to GH..It sounds weird to me..It’s so different.. TOO DIFFERENT!!!!!!! I like the OLD OPENING THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The orginial opening is my favorite…You know GH is on & it fits…You see the ambulance … Bring back the old opening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Man, some people just like to complain don’t they?

I like the new modern look to the opening, and it’s an interesting concept to feature the cast as though they were faces on a billboard. It needs some tinkering, and I’m sure it’s a work in progress. But I appreciate the effort to freshen up the look of the show, which is something that has been long overdue. Keep up the great work, Frank!

Sometimes modern look isn’t always the best..A lot of fans identify with the orginial opening…We are so familiar with……

I love the original opening too, but very few shows keep the same opening forever. It’s good to modernize and adapt with the times, in my opinion.

It sucks. I like the one like the ones from 90s. That was General Hospital. When they changed everything…its just no good. The last one sucked but I’d take it over this dung pile. Sorry…bad month. I’m grouchy. But yea…it sucks.

gut, first impression… I liked how the GH was displayed… with the city, that was current anc contemporary… and i thought i was going to like the actors pictures… however, then it moved way too fast, or, i liked how big the pics were to start.. but didn’t like how small they got.

they should stick with “honoring” the actors.. who act… sweat, blood, and tears. they deserve to have their pictures shown.

I agree..

I agree too

Great new look. Fast pace adds fun to determining who is grouped together.
Welcome to the 21st century!

I like the original theme….This new one is kind of weird for me..

Additional question: Why did General Hospital change from focusing on female leads to this long running (tiresome) focus on males and mayhem? Soaps began and should be about the encounters and travails of female leads with whom we are sympathetic. By flipping to a Jason and Sonny focus it loses something as a soap. Thanks for bringing Heather back for good old day memories. Anna and Luke? Forget about it!

Oh no. This won’t do. I think GH should bring back the “Faces of the Heart” opening from 1993-2004. This was one of the best openings ever on daytime.

I agree with you……..I enjoy seeing that too…..

My first thought was “futuristic.” It seemed like Space Odyssey for some reason.

I am usually watching it on Tivo, in bed with the lights out, so I never cared for the version before Wolf was fired because it did not help my migraines one bit (Y&R and the white screen is a little jarring too, but beautiful … I guess until this week when we see the new one).

Anyway, I agree with the majority. It was too short, but that was probably ABC’s orders. I am surprised there are even any previews for the next episode. It seems like the networks these days only allow the soaps to have their run time and not a second more.

It was weird to see Elizabeth lumped in with Shawn. That was one thing that struck me as especially odd.

I like it..sleek, modern, cool visuals…

Just like the show, it sucks!

Do you mean the music S-C-KS??????????

Seriously, There is no way you can tell whether you like this new opening in 12 seconds I know I can’t, It was to quick, But I do agree with a few of the posts, if you blink it’s over, and it does sound like the music of a sci fi fleck which I don’t mind, I do like the new look, But I have to see it again in a longer time then 12 seconds. I have to wait and see it Monday then I can leave a more honest comment, So as I have said before and I will say it again short and sweet means More time to spend on our stories.

I liked the open they just got rid of. At least it showed the actor/character names and you could see everyone individually instead of meaningless group shots. Oh well…I FF through the open anyway.
At least they’ve kept the previews at the end of the show…so far.
I do like the new logo though.

I like it.. . I just fast forward thru the beginnings of the shows anyways so just wasted time if it is too long. they pay their actors by the show. we get to see more story and they get to more acting from their actors.. works for me!!!! I”m sure you all agree

I LOVE that Dante & Lulu are together!! You could also do Dante with Olivia, or Dante with Sonny….Also Lulu with Luke and/or Lulu with Maxie!! Maybe even Dante with his brothers & sister. You can’t tell I’m a Lante fan can you. But it was way too fast. I had to watch it again in slow motion to really see who was in it!! It would also be good to take some new photos of these actors….maybe something that everybody had not already seen before!!

Not a fan!

Y&R will be finally unveiling their brand new opening on Wednesday, July 4 from what I’ve gathered from tweets from cast members of the show. So, I’m excited to see how that turns out. They will still use Nadia’s Theme (Looking Through The Eyes of Love) still but the rest of it will be completely redone and cast members who’ve been with the show for a long time but have never been included in the show opening will finally be put in with the new one!

I hate it, it’s stupid and it’s cheap crap. So they couldn’t separate the characters like 1st time, now they have to group them up, they might as well stick with the opening that they had before. I have seen people on YT who have put together their own little opening of their favorite Soaps done a better job.

Is this what they took so long on to come up with? Omg it’s awful, did they let 5th graders come up with the new sequence from old publicity photo? When you set out to change something, isn’t it suppose to improve it? The old one was more updated plus the actors name were in the credits. I can’t believe that FV asked in a tweet if we ” love” it, is this guy blind? Joking with us? Oblivious ? Lacking taste? FV I know you got to put your stamp on the show but one has to be aware of things that really needed to change and the opening wasn’t one of them, you really need to change this back and give your actors more respect then your showing now, if your name can appear in every episode of the show I don’t get why the actors name can’t either.

Saw soap digest magazine at targets today(Sat.) And on the cover you see John McBain & Sam and it says: John kisses Sam and they get caught….I don’t think I like that..Cheating on Natalie….Hmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!

Uh oh, I guess that means John and Sam aren’t going to be brother and sister, Maybe it’s a brotherly kiss you know like I care for you, want to protect you, nothing wrong with that, Our John Mcbain is a good guy.

I remember the amazing chemistry they had when they were on Port Charles as Caleb and Livvie. They absolutely sizzled! Would love to see that again. Never liked Natalie with John. They never really had that spark. If any of you watched PC, you know what I’m talking about.

I’m just the reverse I alway’s liked John with Natalie & now they Liam to think about…I thought they had plenty of charisma together…I saw Caleb & Livvie….Didn’t like the vampire role to much…I liked him better when he joined OLTL as John McBain………….Caleb & Livvie were hot but you know it coudn’t last…Him being a vampire….John & Natalie have been threw so much together…And now they have a child together..Remember when Natalie thought John was dead..But he was the burn victim in the hospital….She had a gut feeling it was John & Natalie was right…..I have that episode…So i think John & Natalie have a lot of history together….

I agree with you susan m, I remember it well when John was a burn Victim and Natilie knew something was off, I hope he doesn’t cheat on her.

It want something fast and contemporary, have Sonny shooting at the camera, and the ambulance wipe through. Adventure and hospital that says it all. I am just being silly here.

I want the old theme somg most of all, or even the one they used to have to all the men and Luke walking away. Just add the women to it…that is the show the cast and song,

I like the idea of Sonny shooting at the camera. It reminds me of the opening of James Bond films. After Sonny shoots, he is shot by return gun fire. Sonny lies in a pool of his own blood and we hear the sound of sirens. Police arrive and an ambulance rushes Sonny to GH.

There you go again with the funny stuff, But it’s a good Idea.

hahha, and I guess you do not like Sonny!! I was thinking of having MacBain shoot back. Then Anna could pop up between the two and push them a way then we see the GH logo! Another day could be Jason, standing in the middle of Liz, and Sam and have Carly walk into frame grabbing Jason and walking off. Or Spinelli dancing through and twirling Maxie into Johnneys arms, Patrick lhugging Emma, and Heather pulling Steve away from Olivia!! Now that would be fun!!

it is a horrible opening…..too fast and the characters should never be grouped together…..is McBain staying??

Unfortunetly he is staying..but he is better then the other two..whom are also staying,

Don’t yoy like John McBain???????? Because you said Unfortunetly he is staying!!!!!!!!!! What so bad about that?????????? I like him..Want him to stay as long as possible……………………………………………………….

I hope so..That J. McBain is staying..It kind of looks that way!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They need to stick with the old music. Part of the allure of soaps is familiarity, and the theme is signature. It’s like coke changing colors from red and white to purple and silver. You just don’t do that.

It’s just an opening sequence people. I get it…Frank and crew are attempting to rebrand GH to be more modern yet keep costs down. There has been significant improvement since Cartini has come on board so just calm down people and go with the flow.

Nicely said, Michael S. How can anyone listen to something and look at something for 12 seconds and say it sucks? I played it over and over a few times and I still can’t say whether I like it or not.

Michael asked for opinions and fans are giving it. Just sayin’

And that’s what michael s and I did. Am I missing something here?

awful.

I really liked all the contract players with their real names & their names on the show with the longer opening….I hope they go back to that in a new & different way.

I agree, it is nice to know whom your stars or characters are.

Seriously, I waited all weekend to hear maybe 12 more seconds added on to the other 12 seconds? I still can’t tell if I like the dam music or not.

I don’t like it. The music is awful. I can’t even tell its GH and didn’t when it started b/c I was in the next room. Its’ WAY too fast and why the heck is Sam/Jason/John concentrated on longer than anyone else? It’s bad enough the show focues on the mob characters of Sonny/Jason as it is but there are so many actors on the show that have been on for ions as their characters and they deserve the recognition. Why are Liz/Lulu/Dante/Sean paired together? Why is Sean grouped there at all? Why not put LIz/Steve Webber together esp considering their family is literally the original PC family? It would be better to group the men in a shot and the ladies in another shot and find a way to work with that. JMO.

It is too fast…..I can hardly tell who is grouped together. Not thrilled.

They need to slow it down !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it reflects the current version of the show. With all the new crap, um, I mean shows, on ABC daytime, they need to stay current.

HATE IT !!! I loved the fact that soon as I heard Dave Koz I knew my show was on..even with them remixing it a bit over the years. It was trademark ! Like someone else said…if they were short on time they should have went back to their roots with the ambulance

I agree that they should have kept the music.

People get a grip just be glad your soap is still on the air. The actual story is all anybody should care about if they just came on and said you are now watching General Hosipital that would be fine with me it means it is still on the air. They FV & RC have done something I thought was impossible they made me tune in again. In the scheme of things the opening means squat!!

General Hospital

(INTERVIEW) Adam Huss Talks on His Latest GH Return, Maura West, Nicholas Chavez, and Being a Swiftie

This week, General Hospital fans were in for a surprise appearance when Adam Huss reappeared as Nikolas Cassadine while serving jail time in Pentonville. He also had a very intriguing visitor, his ex, Ava Jerome (Maura West)!

In the key scenes, Ava seemingly tells Nikolas, who can do nothing about the situation, how she is getting closer to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and within his inner-sanctum, much to Nikolas’ chagrin. For Huss, those scenes were difficult to shoot, because in real-life he has just lost his beloved grandmother, but he soldiered through and delivered an effective performance.

Adam has had quite the adventure as GH’s dark prince of the Cassadine clan. Having first subbed for former Nikolas, Marcus Coloma, a few times and over a few years time, then taking over the role and being instrumental in moving story forward, but yet not always physically on the canvas. Since taking over the role, Huss has put his own spin on Nikolas, while delivering some top-notch performances. Look no further than in scenes with the exited Nicholas Chavez (Spencer), the aforementioned West, GH icon Genie Francis (Laura), or the twins that the play Baby Ace (Joey Clay, who shares the role with twin brother Jay) to name but a few.

Michael Fairman TV chatted with Adam to get his thoughts on: Nikolas’ emotional state now, where he thinks the storyline may head in the future, his co-stars, reflecting on what the late Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas) brought to the role, and yes, some banter with us about Taylor Swift!  Check out what Adam had to say below.

Courtesy/ABC

Nikolas is kind of the gift that keeps on giving, as you keep popping back up on GH. Just when you think the show literally has written him off, he makes a return. Look no further than on Monday’s April 29th episode when he gets a visit from Ava while in prison.

ADAM: Listen, I’ve really fallen in love with playing the character. I’ve stated that I’m super passionate about it. I really like that the more I delve into his backstory, I learn about the layers of who he is. Watching Tyler Christopher’s (ex-Nikolas) work, because he really originated that character, I become even more enthusiastic about it. I have so much respect for this medium as it is. I’m a fan of TV and film. I am coming in to the story sometimes not knowing where Nikolas may be mentally. So, it’s been nice to be guided once you’re on set. You can’t come in with just your ideas and you have to be open to the collaboration. It’s been a challenge, but a lot of fun.

In the scenes that just aired opposite Maura West, it seemed you could tell that Nikolas still cared for Ava.

ADAM: I thought that was a happy surprise. I am so fond of Maura as a person. I could say that we’ve mutually grown closer each time I come in and play the part. I don’t think Ava knew what she was going to really get when she came to see Nikolas. When he saw her, I think he was just taken with her. It was interesting. There was one moment when she’s talking about Sonny. I felt as if Nikolas didn’t want to hear this, but I was advised by our director, Allison Reames Smith and Frank Valentini (EP, GH), “Remember, Nikolas hasn’t seen her in months and this is really exciting for him to be sitting across from her. ” So that really fed the motivation.

Courtesy/ABC

Nikolas gets an earful from Ava, and he is left with her secret, which is the dose of medication in Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) pills are causing him to act erratic. Ava kind of admitted to Nikolas what was going on and what she was planning.

ADAM: She did, and you’re right. I think she told him because it was safe, and in her mind he’s not going anywhere.

However, Nikolas isn’t always on the up and up, either.

ADAM:  No, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get what he wants. This is all speculation, but maybe to get her away from Sonny he uses the information she shared. I think Nikolas is thinking that he doesn’t want to see her get hurt, and, “I cannot lose another person right now. I lost my newborn son,” in that, he is not going to raise him. And even bigger, he lost his son Spencer who he believes is gone. So, imagine then losing the love of his life. Their last interactions around New Year’s Eve showed that he still had feelings for her.

So, when you first met Maura, what was your reaction to this daytime dynamo?

ADAM: From day one, she was so lovely to me. I tested with her. I got to know her in that moment. She was just so welcoming and wanted me to succeed. Then, when I did fill in for Marcus Coloma, the first time, she and Ken Shriner (Scott) were super lovely. It was like, “You’re my scene partner today. You are Nikolas today. Let’s have fun.” Each time I came in to work, I got the same thing, if not more – more trust, more openness and kindness. Then, as you’re aware, my grandma passed right before these most recent scenes. Maura was so lovely about it. We were running lines, but she just wanted to stop and talk about it for a second. I almost didn’t want to come to work. I just wanted to get home. Maura really got me focused. It was something you wanted to get off your chest with somebody. Then we filmed, and she called me after, and just made sure I was doing alright. I said to Maura, “You are a class act, you know that. Thank you so much.”  I am so glad I didn’t have to miss the funeral and I still got to film at General Hospital, which my grandma loved to watch me on.

Now. did you have any context when you started that your on-screen mother was Genie Francis (Laura)?

ADAM: I did. In the nineties, when I was on Long Island in college and working as a DJ in the summers, I just remember seeing soap opera magazine covers. I’d see that triangle between Nikolas, Lucky and Elizabeth. So, I very much knew of the world that those people were part of. I knew how big the Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura wedding was and all of that. I definitely knew the legacy I was coming into. When I read these sides for the role, I was like, “I think this is Nikolas Cassadine!” Later, when I was on the show, and doing scenes with Genie, where Laura was warning Nikolas about making up with Spencer, she said, “You’re doing wonderful work.” To hear that from her was a big sigh of relief for me. I love connecting with actors in the eyes. I know when things are cooking when you almost feel like magnets in your eyes with another actor, because you’re drawing that emotion through them. The eyes are the windows of the soul, right? I felt that with Genie, Maura and Nicholas Chavez, too. You feel that magnet pull and it’s so beautiful.

I’m going over your gut-wrenching scenes in my head. There was obviously when Spencer hands baby Ace  to Nikolas, and then the baby is so taken with you, and the scenes where Spencer tells Nikolas how much he loved him as a young boy and vice-versa.

ADAM: The three scenes you just mentioned are highlights for me in shooting the show thus far. Those moments felt so authentic to me. As soon as Spencer got Ace in my arms, I just would melt, and it made me emotional just to hold him. And then, he really took to me. His mom was like,”I think you kind of remind him of his father,” because there is a similar energy. He’s just a great little actor and a great little empath. The moment with him laying his head on my chest was so emotional. In the one scene with Nicholas Chavez, he’s supposed to not hand me Ace till the end, but as soon as we started the scene, the baby reached out to me with this smile. Nick is like, “OK, here you go.” We sort of had to improv around it a little bit, but it was amazing.

Courtesy/ABC

However, then there is the scene where Spencer cries about how Nikolas meant everything to him, too.

ADAM: I think Nikolas went to Spencer with the intention of like, “I’m taking this baby no matter what. And if I have to get through my son, I’m going, too.” There was so much power in the words that those writers chose especially when Spencer goes, “You were my whole world” as a child. Nikolas was saying how I loved him fiercely as a kid. I was watching a lot of those scenes between Nicolas Bechtel (ex-Spencer) and Tyler Christopher. That kid was such a dynamo, too, and he was so cute. Their bond stuck with me.

Courtesy/ABC

You are one busy actor. I check in on your Instagram and you are either in one town or the other shooting a horror film or other projects.

ADAM: Not just horror films, there’s a mix of Hallmark, too. I’m super excited about an indie film I did called Pieces of Lilo. It’s about an estranged father and son. In it, my father gets sick and I get stuck basically taking care of him. And then he passes and when I’m burying him, all these memories start flooding back. It’s this sort of flashback of basically trauma and how this trauma affected, my character, Jerry, in the present day. I fought for this part and I got it. We just wrapped in March. I’m excited about that. Next week, I am off to Long Island to do a rom-com called The Wedding Bell.

Don’t you also have a role in an upcoming Melrose Place-type streaming soap?

ADAM: Oh yes. I wish it was the Melrose Place reboot! I did work with Daphne Zuniga on a Lifetime movie, though. She was awesome, and we’re friends, so who knows? It’s called The BLVD and I’ve taped it already. There’s supposedly five more episodes they’re going to shoot soon. So, we finished the pilot and I play one of the one of the clients of the PR firm. It’s all about  cutthroat PR in Hollywood.

I know the fans really enjoy you in the part of Nikolas. However, the worst thing in soaps, I think, for any actor is having to replace a very well-known actor in a part; whether they’re good, bad, or indifferent. People just don’t like change. As a recast, you have to kind of go through that difficult part of waiting to be accepted by the audience. They often say how they don’t like the actor and then somewhere along the way, they are like “Oh! I love him in the part.” How has it been for you to ride that wave of, you’re not Tyler Christopher, you’re not Marcus Coloma, but now it’s you playing Nikolas?

ADAM: I get it. You want your original person to be the person, and sometimes they just can’t, and in soap operas, it’s more common. I also know it’s always polarizing. There were days in the beginning where I was like, “Oh, my God! Look at all these wonderful comments.”  Then it’s, “Oh, my God.” and as you’re scrolling, you see “I’m a hideous monster” to these people. I think you just have to have a very healthy perspective. Thankfully, I do have tools in my life to secure my foundation of who I am. And sure, on those vulnerable days or those ambiguous days where you don’t know your future at work, it could weigh on you. You could think of every, “Oh, my God! Everybody hates me.” I am so glad and grateful that people have come around. You’re not going to please everybody. It’s just the nature of what we live in now. I will say, the warm embrace and the acceptance, and people who have really come around, has moved me and then they’re feeling the same way about my performances. When I say I’m humbled by it, I’m blown away, it’s true.  I used to get annoyed at Taylor Swift when she would always say that. I’m like, “All right, honey, you’re selling millions of copies. Accept it.” But it is humbling, because you know how critical people can be, and for it to really start to change overtime, helps me every time I hear it.

Speaking of Taylor Swift, are you a Swiftie?

ADAM: I am a Swiftie, sure. I didn’t go to Taylor’s concert. I wanted to. But then, when my friend showed me The Eras Tour on Disney Plus, I was like, “That was amazing. That was like the best time.” I’d have a smile on my face for three and a half hours if I was at her concert. So, yes.

Did you listen to Taylor’s new album, Tortured Poets Department yet?

ADAM: Yes. I’ve been bouncing around in there. There are a lot of songs.

It’s a lot of songs. It took me a little bit to warm up to it. And now, just like in true Taylor Swift fashion, I’m like, “You know what? This track or that track is really good.”

ADAM: Yeah, at first they all sound the same for a minute.

So I wonder, how does Taylor Swift manage to suck us in all the time?

ADAM: I know. I think it works whenever someone’s just raw and honest. Taylor gets a lot of flak for talking about her exes and stuff in her songs, but that’s her life experience. We feel that and we resonate with that, especially younger girls, or anyone really, can relate to these like breakups and this heartache. I think that’s where she gets you.

Hopefully soon, it’d be nice to see Nikolas not in prison orange. So, he gets out of jail and where does he go then?

ADAM: I don’t want him on the run because that’s the whole reason he came to prison, you know, to reform himself. So, for me, that was a nice sign of like, “Hey, maybe the reformation comes and you finally get to be free.” Maybe Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) gets her law degree back and then she’ll help him get out. Wyndemere’s gone. It’s out of his hands. I think it’s a good time for him to start a different life and for us to see Nikolas in different stories. Let’s see a different person trying to put his family back together and falling in love again. If it’s Ava, wonderful, would love that. I’d love to see a really great, big epic love story like he had in the past. I try to infuse that when Nikolas is sitting across from Ava. The last thing I want to say is, I wish I was there at GH more, too. However, I really trust in the process and the writers, and the way things unfold. So, I’m hoping that it all leads to a beautiful place.

What did you think about the scenes this week on GH between Ava and Nikolas? Do you hope Adam Huss is back on-screen sooner than later? What are some of your favorite scenes with him thus far? Comment below, but ICYMI, below are the touching scenes between Spencer, Ace and Nikolas that GH fans are still buzzing about.

Richard Simmons Recalls His Time On General Hospital and Meeting Tony Geary, Genie Francis, Rick Springfield and More

Fitness Guru, Richard Simmons has been recently sharing many stories about his time in Hollywood and his career on his X account as he reflects on his life and prepares his biopic.

In a string of posts, containing moments from his time on General Hospital, and meeting many of who would be his co-stars in Port Charles, Simmons opened up about how he landed on the soap in its hey day.

Simmons began by explaining that after an appearing on an ABC local morning show with Regis Philbin, he got a call two days later about GH, and things took off from there.

Richard expressed, “I met with the most powerful woman in daytime television. Gloria Monty. I also met with the head writer Pat Falken Smith. These ladies were very smart. They told me their idea. I would teach exercise classes in a disco for all the ladies on the show.” He added, “A week before taping the show the studio asked me if I could drive over and do some promotional photos. In my car I brought with me six jogging suits….My make up…some towels and five pound weights. I still could not believe I was going to be on a soap. lol.”

When he got to GH’s studio, Simmons shared, “The first person that I met was Genie Francis (Laura). Her father was Ivor Francis an actor who had been on Broadway and many TV shows. Genie was so young and innocent looking. I clicked immediately with her.

“The second person I was introduced to was Anthony Geary (Luke),” recalled Richard. “Some people called him Tony. ..but I did not. He was an actor’s actor. Mr G had curly hair like me. When he was not acting he was sitting in his dressing room learning all of his lines.  His door was always closed. One day when it was open. I asked if I could come in and sit and talk. This man won 8 daytime Emmys for playing Luke.”

“Now what can I say about Jane Elliot (Tracy)? She had an aristocratic face,” says Simmons. “One moment her character was very nice then she was the queen of mean. She allowed me to come into her room and chat while she was putting on makeup.”

Then, Richard recalled the late, great Stuart Damon (ex-Alan) and Jackie Zeman (ex-Bobbie). “I then met Prince Charming. Stuart Damon. He had been in a lot of TV shows and played Prince Charming on a special about Cinderella. Jackie Zeman was so cute. She had a pixie face.”

Simmons recalled when Rick Springfield joined the cast as Noah Drake, sharing, “While he was on the show his father passed away in Australia. I went to the news stand and bought him a bunch of magazines to read on the plane. How many times have you sung Jessie’s Girl and Don’t Talk to Strangers? When he came back from Australia he resumed his role.”

Noting his humble beginnings on GH running the aerobic classes at the Campus Disco, Richard recalled, “My first scene was in Luke’s Disco. All the nurses and other actresses were there dancing with me. I had never memorized lines before. So much was going on in my head. At the end of my scene, I heard the sound of heels clicking on the floor and everyone froze. It was Ms Monty and she was talking to me. ‘Richard the television is this big . You are talking like you are on a screen in a movie theater…bring your voice down.’ So I did.”
