UPDATE: Y&R Decides NOT to Recast The Role of Tucker McCall!

According to Soap Opera Digest, the role of Tucker McCall will not be recast as previously reported by Soap Opera Uncensored.  The new updated report has that The Young and the Restless had halted there search for a new Tucker last played by Stephen Nichols.

SOD sources related, “The character was reportedly returning for Katherine’s funeral and would then have a story, but an insider says the show decided it would be too distracting to have a new face in the mix.”

So what do you think? Good news that another new face won’t enter the mix on Y&R? Or, do you think it’s not appropriate to not have Katherine’s son part of the mix for his mother’s funeral and a possible fight for Chancellor controlling interests in regards to the company and fortune?  Should the show just have Stephen Nichols back for the funeral episodes, if they won’t bring him back full-time?  Weigh-in!

It wouldn’t be realistic for Tucker NOT to be back at least for the funeral. They should invite Stephan back for a few guest appearances. I’m certain he would do it.

Ugh, Tucker is not worth all this hassle. Just kill the b*stard off already! I’d hate to see Kays funeral be about him.

I cannot see ANYONE connected to Kathrine not being at her funeral. Bring Steven back for the funeral. Let him bury his mother and then leave. After a few months, recast the role of Tucker. It is only natural that he would be interested in her company so they eventually have to bring him back into the picture. I would love to see the original Tucker McCall be brought back. He was much more believable as her son and as a lover for Jill.

MUST have Tucker at the funeral. Would love to see Stephen back in the role at least on a recurring basis; there is also room too explore continuing dynamics with Devon.

Definitely bring tucker back. It is appropriate to have all there for the homegoing services. The two witnessed a ‘bonding’ moment in his last scene. Consider building on that for the services.

Never liked the Tucker character either. On a different note. Would love to see the invitation in print. Great photos and the poems used. It appears to be awsome

I still what to know if they why they was going to recast and not use Steven? Is he GH bound.

I think he will end up back at GH. Story line seems to dictate that and he fits in better there.

Tucker should most definately return for the funeral. Even if it’s just a short visit during that time. Hopefully Y&R realized how ridiculous it was to have anyone other than Stephen Nichols play the part. He’s made the role his own.
As for the not wanting new faces part…please, the entire cast is bloated right now with new faces so not buying that one.

So correct about being bloated AGAIN and probably one the factors about “another new face”…But at least have SN’s Tucker return for the funeral and been done with Tucker and send him off to rest the character and then if wanting to bring Tucker back in a year than recast the part and move forward.

As for upcoming “possible fight for Chancellor controlling interests” this is the time for YR to realize “Brock” should be a player in this and have “Mac” return to canvas….please don’t let the character of Cane to a major player in this high stakes of CI maybe a player of sorts because Jill always loved Cane and this would definitely change the dynamic of their relationship and this is needed….but Nina is so needed for Chance interests… if you want to create a character for conflict for Jill over CI cast a whole new character being related on Phillip III (Phillip IV’s dad) a new “Chancellor” relative, in form of sister or brother wanting it all…..Nina finds another “Chancellor” heir to bring in to cause havoc on the House of Jill….

They stated they didn’t want a new face in the mix AT THE FUNERAL, they didn’t say they would never re-cast. I don’t buy “the new faces’ excuse either. My guess is that they don’t want nasty actor fan wars happening online while Kay’s funeral is going on so it’s a good call on their part to wait, or use another option like kill off Tucker.

Yeppers! I think that could be the reason especially going on during Katherine’s time.

Although I agree it would totally distract and detract from the focus of Kay’s funeral (Kay) to have a new face in the mix, I don’t buy for a minute that’s tptb’s reason for halting their search.
More likely JFP wanted to bring in another of her expensive buddies and her bosses, after seeing viewer outrage, stopped her in her tracks. I’m sure her hiring of SBu and his character being a complete flop didn’t help JFP in her efforts either!

So stupid to not bring SN back at least for the funeral!

They should bring him back for the funeral at least. With Katherine gone they really need to bring him back full time. It would continue Katherine’s legacy and make for some great stories.

There are too many new faces that don’t make any sense and no one cares about..

Katherine is a pivotal, legendary character that must live on through people like Tucker. GH made the mistake of killing off too many Quarterrnaines and they are FINALLY getting that family back on the front burner where it should have NEVER left.

What about katherines other son broke or his daughter mac they should be there as well.

Exactly! I care about all the old faces returning . Don’t care if I see Tucker, Harmony, or Sophia again.

Beau Kazer/Brock was very close to JC he has to be there. As for Mac their were so many recasts they will probably say she is in some foreign country building house for Habitat that is the excuse they used before when Katherine died on screen but in fact it was Marge. I will gurantee you she is going to leave everything to Cane in the storyline.

Maybe Tucker should die overseas, BEFORE Katherine’s funeral. That would explain why Katherine and Murphy’s absence, Devon isn’t on-screen much either, so it would not be hard to do. No one else would need to go across the pond to see him buried ,every one left on Y&R hardly knows him.

Katherine dies shortly after- that would make for a good story.

Tired of hearing about it…im all ‘tucker’ed out!

LMAO!

After all the new faces they’ve been bringing on they think another new face would be too distracting??? I don’t get that logic! Now that Kay is gone, we need Tucker!

It’s always odd when characters don’t appear at key life events of other characters still on screen. Weddings, funerals, etc. It will be hard to accept that Tucker wouldn’t return for his mother’s funeral. Just as it was when Ridge didn’t return for his mother’s funeral and his daughter’s wedding on B&B. I’m able to accept a lot because its television drama, but Tucker, in any form, should attend his mother’s funeral and subsequent reading of the will.

Well, SN won’t be playing the part because he and JFP do not get along at all, which is why SN was gone from the show not long after JFP and JG took over (about 5 months or so in). SN was on GH when JFP was there and as you can imagine, SN was let go from his role on that show by JFP too. No love lost between those two, which is why SN will not reprise the role of Tucker.

ITA- and why on earth would SN want to do them a favor and show up for a few shows, just to be toss out again? And recasting for a short stint like that doesn’t make sense. They could go down the route of shooting an unknown look a like from the back to give the appearance Tucker was at the funeral without actually having to hire someone to say lines- but more than likely they will just have some lame excuse to explain Tucker’s absent– Personally I think it would be more interesting to have Tucker have another unknown child, come to town claiming a piece of the Chancellor pie, because as much as I love SN, never cared for the Tucker character.

Just bring SN back for the funeral & also Brock ( sorry I forget his name )…No more new faces at Y& R for awhile.

Beau Kaizer is his name.

To not have Tucker there is lunacy. The character needs to be there. But to have that character recast would be worse, very distracting from what is supposed to be happening, and that’s the funeral for a legacy character who was a integrated into the very fabric of it. All this Tucker talk detracts from that, and it’s sad. Bring SN back, pay him whatever you need to pay him, it’s one shoot, so just freaking do it, already. Then after the funeral, recast if you can’t make an SN stay work. But for the funeral, for the love of god, just bring SN back and be done with it.

This is the part that kills me:

“…the show decided it would be too distracting to have a new face in the mix.”

Yet, Y&R has done nothing but have a parade of new characters and recasts ever since the new powers-that-be have taken over. So, Katherine’s own son, a character people liked and a talented actor, will not be returning for her FUNERAL, however we have Tyler, Leslie, nuNoah, nuSummer, nuKyle, Dylan, Chelsea, Avery, Alex, and so on and so on front and center. Jill Farren Phelps and Josh Griffith are ruining this show.

Stephen Nichols and Tucker McCall got caught up in the mess that was MAB and the transition to JFP. Strong actgor and character with potential lost. I say bring Tucker McCall back to Genoa city for the funeral and then dispense with him. He was not a part of Katherine’s life until the end. Have him pay respects and make peace, then go off with his own money and power to be in the world. He could always come back in the form of another actor, but the character could be written out after the funeral.

That said, I would accept a new face at the funeral for new storylnes should JFP want to bring home Tucker McCall for good.

Stephen playing Tucker should return for the funeral and stay awhile!

Bring Tucker back for the funeral and son Brock. Brock should inherit the Chancellor fortune and run Chancellor industries. Bring Mac along if you wish this could be a love hate relationship with Jill.

I agree that Stephan Nichols would have come back, at least for the funeral. He was there for the tribute show. I’m sure the Brock character will be back. Cant’t think of the actors name, but he’s played that role for years, so he’ll be there.

It would be nice if SN came back for a while for a story arc…fighting Jill & Cane for control of Chandler Industries. If he’s not coming back to GH, I wouldn’t mind seeing him on Y&R again.

BYW…if there is a fight over CI, I hope Jill kicks Cane in the ass right out the door. That jerk lied his way into the family and has no business being there!

Be done with it and admit it is now the Steve Burton show and those god awful actresses Jessica Collins and MC just close the lid!!!FYI Sharon Case do a slow walk like Michelle Stafford did and find work elsewhere.

I loved Steve Burton on GH but I just can’t get into his storyline on Y&R. AND…I don’t like Avery (Jessica Collins) with either him or Nick and there is no chemistry with Chelsea either (she belongs with Adam. In fact she is the only one I think is good with Adam). If Burton stays (and I really wish he would go back to GH), he should be with Sharon since she is the only one he has any chemistry with on Y&R.

Dylan is a bore, geez. If I have to watch the KenCupcake Barbie show anymore I’m going to hurtle…LOL! He does have some chemistry with Sharon but if I got to take him I rather watch him with Chelsea or Sharon or better yet let GH have him back because he doesn’t fit into the YR canvas very well & with the other actors.

They are not recasting because they plan on recasting Phyliss

I’m okay with it.

By now I get the feeling that a lot of the characters that should come back for this won’t.

But written correctly, the action should revolve around Jill and Nikki anyway.

Who cares if Cane continues on at CI. I’m just concerned about getting Jess back and in that mansion to drive future story.

Get it done!

I think if Stephen Nichols does not come back to play Tucker for at least the funeral there should be some mention as to why. Tucker and Katherine had a hugely conflicted relationship and to have no mention of Tucker would be wrong. Maybe a scene with Devon speaking at the funeral as to how Tucker was too overcome with emotion to be at the funeral.

If the plan is to bring Tucker back then who cares about the recast being at the funeral. He could have few scenes and just be slowly introduced to the audience. If they won’t/can’t bring back SN at least this makes sense because Kay’s son would not be MIA from his mother’s funeral,,,,especially given their final scene together where you saw that they cared for each other. I am sick & tired of major family being omitted from huge events like weddings & funerals. Brock, Tucker, Mac would in no way not come to Kay’s funeral.

Of course, we will probably have Leslie & Tyler there because they shared so much with her …. eye-roll. Why I bet Dylan can even show up despite never having a scene with Katherine.

Please, someone put on a pair of steel tipped boots and kick JFP’s ass out of that studio…..PRONTO!

Both Brock and Tucker need to be at Mrs. Chancellor’s funeral, along with their respective children. I hate when relatives are absent from soap funerals and weddings.

Is SN going back to DOOL? I think their writers coud do a lot with Steven Earl Johnson.
Days is worthy of him. Y&R is stinking things up! With Patch Days of our Lives.will be
a force no one can stop.

It would be great to see Tucker and the rest of Kay’s family back for her funeral. After that I would love to see Stephen go on to another soap where I can watch him there. Maybe back to GH as Stefan if the writers can do damage control after what the last regime did. I just don’t recognize Y&R any more. I tried to tune back into it the other day and saw plenty of new faces that I don’t know or care about now.

They should have Stephen return for the funeral. Or at least say he tried to get there, but planes are grounded so he couldn’t get there.

their search

I think it is definitely appropriate for both of Katherine’s sons, Brock and Tucker, to be at her funeral and I think Stephen Nichols should be asked back as Tucker. In their final scenes together they were working on a mother-son relationship.

Too many new faces on y,r.I think Tucker should be brought back and I am very upset that Phyliss is leaving, but from I understand ,she is going toG&H and the same for S.N.This new group must go or we will not have Y&R.these story lines are bad and the new players can’t act and there is no good story lines.

I have only heard “rumors” of her joining GH, unless you know something as fact? Speaking about new faces GH has YR beat by mile!! They are so overloaded right now. SN should probably be brought back for the funeral but as for returning FT …oh no I don’t want him back. Not sure what you’re talking about in this statement “This new group must go or we will not have Y&R.these story lines are bad and the new players can’t act and there is no good story lines.” ..YR isn’t going anywhere with the ratings on the rise and in positive numbers. Most of actors can act but just somewhat bloated…ITA but as for stories now, do you even watch? Dylan is weakest link and not YR material, he needs to return GH. Most of the stories (not all as any soap) are ROCKING with LaurenCarmine sexfest, Summer’s paternity, Nikki’s MS, AdamVictor retaking NE over, someone instigating Neil’s dairy online, Phack, Traci’s return, Fen – the angry white boy, and with Jeanne’s passing will open up an umbrella story as no other or seen on daytime…GH will die first long before YR is gone because YR’s ratings are very health again.

Yes. He should be at the funeral and then involved with the family business and all the battles that go along with it.

To honor Jeanne Cooper properly and with respect, All characters/ actors should be in attendance at Katherine’s funeral. SN made Tucker his own! And furthermore, Tucker is the only son of Katherine’s that can handle being CI’s CEO! Cane can’t control CI, he cant even cope with Jill! She(rightfully so) run over him, bring back SN as Tucker McCall and take cover TGVN and Jackie-boy!! Now that storyline I’d watch !!! I double dog dare you, JFP and TPTB!!!

I heard he wouldn’t do it – even a one time appearance

Bring him back

I would think that because Tucker and Kay had really just found each other and developed a real mother son relationship and cant believe that he would not be there for the reading of her will. And OH PLEASE stop the chloe and Chelsea LIE! Doesn’t Chelsea know about the same lie chloe told about deliah and how it affected SO many people. And surely Dylan took a big bump to his brain believing this fully developed baby was 2months EARLY! c”mon.I want Adam in the baby’s life and not carry this on for years! And holy cow when is Sharon going to be exposed as the person that caused Phyllis’s accident. And when will Summer finally learn the truth that Nick IS her father. The best soap opera is becoming a total BORE! C’MON lets get all this crap out in the open and move on. And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take Melanie to Mars, or Jupiter. This type of stuff does damage to people who actually have rape cases.

Enough new faces – Tucker kept story interesting, Katherine accepted him. Sick of seeing new cheap characters. You are losing many fans because of them. Come on, not let a son attend his mothers funeral? You are fazing out the good characters and bringing on the dimwits. Guess you want to end the soap.

Maurice Benard Confirms Steve Burton is Upcoming Guest on ‘State of Mind’

Over this past weekend, General Hospital’s Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) revealed that he is finally going to have longtime co-star, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) on his State of Mind You Tube series for a sit-down interview.

While speaking with Soap Opera Digest at Nancy Lee Grahn’s (Alexis, GH) ALS fundraiser, Maurice confirmed the taping is happening this week and should be posted in about three weeks time.

Benard shared, “I wanted Steve Burton and I’m shooting him Tuesday, my good friend, but he’s been through a lot and I’ve been asking for three years, but he’s finally going to do it.”

Photo: ABC

In addition, to the episode, it appears Maurice also confirmed he will be doing a You Tube live on Tuesday, May 7th as well at 3 pm PT possibly with Burton.

As GH viewers know, for year Jason was Sonny’s henchman, and his right hand. Now upon Jason’s return, the two are at complete odds, due in part to Sonny’s medication being completely manipulated by Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and his growing paranoia.

As for what Burton will discuss, as Benard teased Steve has gone through a lot of personal ups and downs as well as professional, over the last three or more years, but has always landed on his feet. It will be interesting to hear this thoughts on those matters and how he soldiered through.

So, excited to see Maurice and Steve have a serious chat on State of Mind? Comment below.

The Young and the Restless alum, Tom Selleck (ex-Jed Andrews), who has starred on CBS’ police procedural Blue Bloods for 14 seasons, is speaking out on the decision by the network to cancel the show.

During an interview with CBS Sunday Morning Selleck expressed his thoughts on if the show might get a last minute reprieve as Shemar Moore’s (ex-Malcolm, Y&R) S.W.A.T. has.

Tom shared,”I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses. We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff. We’re doing good shows, and still holding our place. So, I don’t know. You tell me!”
