With Days of our Lives about to celebrate its 50th anniversary in roughly six weeks time, NBC.com is continuing to revisit the key iconic moments, characters, couples and enduring themes of the show through posting video packages each week.
This week, they spotlight one of the things that is most synonymous with DAYS … Super Couples, and over the decades there have been plenty of them! In the highlights from the Super Couple clip package: Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope (Kristian Alfonso), John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall), Patch (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) are front and center. In addition, there are glimpses of: Jack (Matt Ashford) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), Kimberly (Patsy Pease) and Shane (Charles Shaughnessy), and Carrie (Christie Clark) and Austin (Patrick Muldoon).

But while those are some very-popular heavy hitters, there have been other favorite duos over the years who have captivated the viewing audience.
For instance: Mickey (John Clarke) and Maggie (Suzanne Rogers), EJ (James Scott) and Sami (Alison Sweeney), Doug (Bill Hayes) and Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes), Sonny (Freddie Smith) and Will (Chandler Massey/Guy Wilson), Eugene (John de Lancie) and Calliope (Arlene Sorkin), Liz (Gloria Loring) and Neil (Joe Gallison), Bill (Edward Mallory) and Laura (Susan Flannery), Tom (MacDonald Carey) and Alice (Frances Reid), and Abe (James Reynolds) and Lexie (Renee Jones). The list goes on, and on, and on.
Watch the Super Couple video package from NBC.com after the jump to get you thinking! Then tell us, who has been your favorite all-time favorite duo on Days of our Lives!
I guess I will have to say Steve and Kayla since it was their love story that got me hooked on Days in the first place– but I also liked Jack and Jen’s early romance. I liked Doug and Julie as well. I liked the original Roman and Marlena abd I liked RKK’s Bo with Billie.
Steve and Kayla is what got me watching DAYS, too. He was pushing her away so she’d marry his dying brother Jack to give him something to live for .. and it was just KILLING him! He was such a good actor, reminds me of James Dean! His tears and angst felt so REAL, I just had to keep watching. I fell for Justin&Adrienne, Roman&Diana too. DAYS really knew how to do a good love story. Pull-out-all-the-stops, don’t miss a beat, over-the-top, as the beautiful couples’ theme songs played and they went on location in Greece .. ROMANCE! Loved Jack and Jen, too. I do believe DAYS has had more supercouples that I absolutely loved than any other soap.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved LUMI together but I also like EJ and Sami.

Shane and Kimberly are #1 with me. Right behind them would be Bo and Hope, and Steve and Kayla, and Roman (Wayne Northrup) and Marlena.

Because I am not a long time Days viewer and because I have John Oliver fresh on my mind, I say Sami and EJ all the way because they not only care about each other, they care about the Syrian refugees!

Maggie and Mickey/Doug and Julie are my all time favorites
Victor and Maggie’s courtship was great – now they are seldom in the same room at the same time.
Austin & Carrie, Bo & Billie(Lisa Rinna-mid 90s), EJ & Sami, Lucas & Sami!!!!!!

Bo and Hope are the ultimate super couple. They have been through it all including death. Their chemistry together at times has been nothing short of astounding which makes me love watching them all the more. They make it totally believable that they are soul mates.

The first supercouple; Doug and Julie…then ill say Tom and Alice, Mickey and Maggie, Susan and Greg, Bill and Laura, Don and Marlena, Chris and Mary…i liked all the couples in the 60s and 70s …in the 80s to the present i liked Hope and Bo, Patch and Kayla, Shane and Kim, Abe and Lexi, Tony and Anna and those two dogs that got married…lol…Days had many couples i liked, and some i didnt mention but my all time favorite and who were the most romantic were Doug and Julie-they dont write them like that anymore!
The only couple on canvas right now that has a shot of having a great romance is Theresa and Brady—that kiss at the end of today’s show reminded me of the kisses of days of old, it was based in tenderness and not lust; they have the great love hate thing happening between them, both wounded and wary— it written right, they could be a great super couple as they overcome their past to realize they really do love each other deeply and profoundly– so after my disappointment that the murder mystery turned into a thriller that sweet moment made me forgive the show.
That was a nice little moment in the midst of all that gloom and doom…yes, it was a bit too soon to let us know who the killer is but i keep wondering if someone like Andre or even Clyde are using mind control on Ben and having him unwittingly kill these people?
Wow, you have been watching a LOOOOOONG time. I started watching in the ’80s, but my mom has been a big fan from the beginning, and she’s filled me in on all those early couples you loved. They are all part of soap history and I love it when the show references its long, rich history. Like when Julie, Maggie and Caroline were at the house, talking about Susan and how she killed her husband. Love it! More, please! You know, I do remember Doug and Julie, I was just a kid, but I remember him singing “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World” to her and I also remember his little French friend, Robert, who loved Hope’s nanny. So sweet.

I don’t watch Days of our Lives today but when I did, it was the 1990s and I use to rush home to watch it for Jack and Miss Horton and Bo and Carly!!!
Those were my Days love stories and I will give honorable mentions to John and Isabella and Carrie and Austin…not as great as my favorites but I liked them then.
When I think of Days today….Jack and Jen and Bo and Carly are the only two things I think of…those love stories stayed with me.
I agree Scoma60!! Their two day wedding episodes that aired on July 22 and July 25, 1988 was the most watched and highest rated Days of our Lives episodes since 1974. Days of Our Lives reached # 1 in the Nielsen ratings and Days hasn’t reached that status since 1988. For Steve and Kayla’s wedding in 1988, they didn’t say the traditional vows they spoke from the heart and you saw the emotions from them. When she spoke for the first time at the wedding since she regained her hearing from being deaf; that was the touching moments on a soap. You saw and felt the love that they shared. Their wedding stood out as well as their love story. They always showed the emotion and loved only each other. Their wedding was beautiful, romantic and fun and you can tell the entire cast had a good filming. I saw pictures behind the scenes. Steve and Kayla had the best wedding on soaps. That’s what made their love story stand out among the rest. Steve and Kayla are the ultimate couple!!!

JOHN & MARLENA BLACK when it comes to “Days of Our Lives ” Super Couples J&M are “THE GOAT!!” and “That’s A Fact!!”
I’ve never considered them a super couple, although they were a couple for years. I’d suggest Mickey and Laura before I’d preference Mickey and Maggie.

How disrespectful of the true super couples to add Jr. and Sami to that group.
Oh please EJ and Sami Ejami should be No 1 on that list they were and still are the most popular super couple Days ever had Micheal my fave is Ejami no one had it like Ali and James before or since.
And pipsqueak
Lucas framed her for murder and caused her to fall off a cliff and yada yada yada. I meant James and asaminlooked very real in their scenes together especially their love scenes. Lucas always looked like he had gas and Rafe looked like he was watching for the director to yell cut. All handsome men but I prefer james scott not only in looks but acting ability. Blame the writers for the stupidity. Ho hum

“Daytime television invites viewers into the private lives of characters, often bringing important issues like cancer screenings into living rooms and around water coolers. Soaps debuted the first cancer storyline in 1962 – years before the topic was discussed in the mainstream, and it left an indelible impact: a whole generation of women who scheduled a potentially life-saving Pap smear for the first time,” said Daytime Stands Up host Alan Locher. “For so many viewers, this brought the issue front and center,” added co-host Michael Fairman. “Today, it’s become almost impossible to avoid; but there is hope with cancer research, thanks to organizations like Stand Up To Cancer.”
SU2C Co-Founder Sue Schwartz, SU2C President and CEO Julian Adams, Ph.D., and SU2C Health Equity Committee Member Elizabeth Jaffee, M.D., will also participate to speak to the importance of early detection, exciting scientific breakthroughs, and the ongoing work yet to be done to make screenings and treatment equitable for all.
“This year, an estimated 2 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer, presenting an opportunity for the public to stand with us and rise to the occasion,” said Adams. “We’re thankful to Alan Locher, Michael Fairman and our friends from the daytime television community, who will raise critical funding to honor those we’ve lost – and to propel new scientific breakthroughs for current and future patients. Everyone has a story, and we’re grateful to all of you for sharing yours.”
For over 15 years, SU2C has leveraged its relationship with the entertainment community – which includes more than 1,100 celebrity ambassadors – to generate public donations, increase awareness and fund cutting-edge cancer research. SU2C research has contributed to the development of more than 10 scientific breakthroughs that have significantly impacted the field and provided new treatment options for breast, colorectal, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, pediatric and prostate cancers.
