General Hospital

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Paul Eliminates Sloane!

Courtesy/ABC

Courtesy/ABC

Paul Hornsby (Richard Burgi) is certainly establishing himself quickly as the man to fear in Port Charles!

After being responsible for the shooting of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), secretly attempting to take over the territory by blackmailing Ava (Maura West) to do his dirty work, and hoping everyone believes the deceased Carlos Rivera (Jeffrey Vincent Parise) is behind the shooting, it seems his plan is running smoothly.

However, there was a major roadblock on Tuesday’s episode of General Hospital.  A tipsy Sloane (Robb Derringer), who is hell-bent on making Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) pay for her crime for shooting Rivera as retribution for the murder of her beloved Duke (Ian Buchanan), decides to call the new DA Hornsby and turn in evidence against the woman who dumped in!

Sloane meets Paul on the docks and hands him a key to a safety deposit box, which has Anna’s gun with her fingerprints all over it, as well as Carlos’ wallet and ID.   What does Sloane want out of helping out the DA?  He wants immunity in exchange for his testimony.

But little does Sloane know who he is talking to … or handing evidence to!  In a shocking moment for Sloane, Paul reveals that Sloane must die in order to keep his plan in motion that Carlos is behind the hit on Sonny.   Next, Paul plugs Sloane with two bullets.   From the looks of it, it’s bye, bye, Sloane!

And as previously reported, after GH brought back actor Robb Derringer to play Sloane (after a short recast stint by Grayson McCouch) it looks like the character is the next casualty of story.  This way, Paul’s crimes remain covered-up as he continues to terrorize the town.

What did you think of Paul shooting Sloane?  Now that Sonny has a brain clot on the brain and needs immediate surgery, will Paul with an assist from Ava finally take the territory?  Share your thoughts below!

I absolutely hate when shows bring characters back completely changed! But, if the show wants Paul to eliminate some dead weight, I am all for that. I also wish a regime would have the courage, the foresight, and the show changing game plan to finally let one of the countless enemies who have tried to “get” Sonny actually get him. I hope I live long enough to see the day Sonny Corinthos dies on this show. So many characters have been killed for him, because of him, or by him that it is sickening to watch the constant glorification he receives. He deserves to die in an epic mob shoot out and be 6 feet under.

Agreed!!!

I totally agree. Never liked the character since the beginning. Sadly, Dylan – I totally agree, however, Sonny will NEVER die. Even if Maurice decides to leave the show, and Sonny is “murdered” he will rise again. And with the current storyline with this stroke-thing — Sonny will pull through and gain power once again. Maybe the new female writers will be less in love with the character and minimize the mob stuff. They can get rid of Carly, too. Never liked that character except for a short time when she was played by Tamara Braun and the character was involved with Alcazar. I wonder if actors read these comments we make and realize how much we dislike their characters. But I guess to them – a job is a job.

The only “Carly” I ever liked was Tamara Braun…and you are correct…Sonny ain’t going anywhere.

A job is a job. He is doing what is written. He is an actor. He is not an NFL player running around and dragging his girlfriend through a freakin casino, knocking her out! !

Totally agree! Remember all the thibgs he used to say to Karen!! I remember well how he said that she wanted her step dad Ray to moleste her… He was making her dance naked and was horrible to her. Scott Baldwing has every right in the world to hate Sonny.

I, too, wish that Paul was still a good guy. That’s a worthwhile complaint. But he hasn’t been on in twenty years. People change in twenty years!

GhLover, you’re right of course but I couldn’t help but laugh aloud when I read “he made her dance naked.”
Yes, I have a warped sense of humor.
That said, let Paul now kill Nina, Franco, Kiki, Julian, Kiki, Sabrina and Valerie.

Yes, Harry, Kiki gets it twice! lol. Agree.

Harry…usually agree with you but I guess I don’t have your sense of warped humor, and you lost me on both counts.

I disagree!!! Richard Burgi is so good as Paul. He is the reason I’ve started watching General Hospital once again. If Paul goes then I go as well.

i’ll get pelted for this:

Jane Elliott… is such a grand dame… high end

that it has to be difficult to … find her a man who can match spark and whit

they had it … with Richard Burgi…

???

I wanted some romance and loving … to enjoy
and I wanted it with and for Traci!

dang it… !

ruination for the Quartermaines!

let me guess

the nuHeadwriters… have no plans to realize the potential and “minefield with Billy Miller’ Jake as Jason Quartermaine

Dylan…Are you going dark side? I thought you didn’t like all the killing on GH as a means to an end to solve problems.

Hi, Rose.
I don’t think Dylan is joining su, here….LOL. I believe what Dylan wants, is poetic justice. You know…’live by the sword, die by the sword” type-of-ending for Sonny? He has pillaged and plundered, as it were, people’s hearts, souls and minds, leaving devastation in his wake. It is called getting one’s just desserts. I feel the same way; and I am the last to merge into that dark, villainous lane. Even the best of us hold some rancor for Sonny’s ilk. Later, my friend.

Sonny is the Victor Newman of GH. He protects his family and never pays the consequences for any of his actions. I accept it. Dont like it but accept it. It happens in the real world to. Dont like it but accept it!

Sonny is a lead character. What do you want to do, kill him off and tune in to see detective West everyday? I’m not a big fan of Sonny’s but I’d rather watch him and Carly before I watch Dante and Lulu ANYDAY!

Timmm…Heavens “no” to killing Sonny off. But I don’t like that he doesn’t have more jail time/consequences to at least partially pay for all of the misery he has caused to lots of people and his own family.

Cee I love you. Lol. And Timm. …as I have stated….it’s called General Hospital! There is and would always be plenty of Drama to be mined in that setting. I would have no problem with Sonny…if he was played for the villain he is! Not a misunderstood hero! Which he isn’t! And never was. Early on in Carlivati’s tenure, around the time of the 50th….there were literal WEEKS where Sonny was not even seen!!! That was glorious! !! And the show had good ratings then!! Fast forward to a few months ago when it became all Sonny again and record low ratings came in. I believe the viewers are metaphorically speaking loud and clear!

I don’t mind watching Carly, Timmm. It’s Sonny that sticks to my craw…the fake murderous look in his eyes, which scares me not at all, the stuttering and lisping that fog my concentration, and the fact that he tries to command a situation/scene which eventually fizzles out.
But, you’re right. I am able to stare the cold reality in the face….he is here to stay, for reasons I cannot fathom.
Considering Carly changes men as often as she changes her unmentionables, I am sure she’ll find someone at the blink of an eye. How about Milo? LOL.

There are actors, and then there are actors, Timmm. Maurice just does not fit the category of a compelling actor for me. I am not into Victor Newman either but at least, Eric can perform, even at his age. It is a matter of opinion, and taste. Ryan/Nathan artistic delivery may not be up to par for most, but I do not cringe when I see him. His character represents a normal cop doing his normal work….he is not perceived as super-cop….he is actually the brunt of many jokes. That fact has much to do with how well-received a character is. Sonny has had his hey-day and from all the comments, fans are tired of this unwarranted adoration given to the worst kind of living ‘thing’…..I’ve only been watching for a short time and I’m sick of the shenanigans and him.
What bothers me the most is that there’s never any closure with this character. He devours everything in his path with gigantic tongues of fire and gets away with it. I don’t understand it. Why do the writers keep this character’s twisted image alive? Not only is the character a fiend, but the acting is deplorable. Later.

Completely disagree! I love his character and his whole family. Inwouldnlive for him to go out in the blaze of glory that was described… Just not until he’s ready to retire.

Where’s autocorrect when you need it?

I would love….

So over Sonny. The character has been played to death.

Here’s the thing. Its Anna’s gun and Carrrrlos’ wallet. They still haven’t found the body, so there is nothing to match the bullets to. if Sloane is dead, there’s no one to corroborate the story. Even if Sloane survives, no one trusts him anyway. The fact that Paul will shoot without hesitation or remorse is the part that matters. There’s nothing he won’t do to make his plans stay on track and that is what is going make him dangerous and interesting to watch.

Exactly, Lisa. But, this is PC law and lawmakers. Carlos was/is a known criminal; Anna a respected citizen/agent/former law-woman. Anyone in law enforcement would be grateful for Carlos’ death or capture. Ironically, the rumor Ava started, that Carlos is alive, is probably true. I hope this is the case. It is the only way for Anna to escape being held mentally captive by Paul……Nothing to hold over her head.
I am wondering….it was Anna’s gun to have been used to shoot Carlos, right? So, wouldn’t her fingerprints be on the weapon? Why is this fact so shocking or important? What is the big deal about that? Am I missing something? Sloane was a cad. Anna could say her gun was missing or something. Then, again….why not report it stolen. That scene, Carlos’ shooting, I mean, was so contrived and weird. So she shot him….he deserved it. Anna was not in her right mind, otherwise she would have never put so much faith in Sloane. How convenient!
TPTB will fashion this storyline any way they wish. The only good thing about this is seeing Anna back in action….

@Dylan.
Oh, my God, Dylan. Did you feel the sweet, yet sad and heart-wrenching emotion displayed between Kayla and Caroline, too? I sobbed over that scene. It was so well executed…..I felt the love and pain that, so obviously, enveloped Kayla. The performance by these two outstanding actresses is so rarely seen anymore; it just tore at my heart.

@Dylan.
That’s it, Dylan! You have concisely put a title on Sonny which was escaping me. “Misunderstood hero” is perfect. He is a villainous fiend; yet, he is upheld as the Messiah-in-training. Blasphemy. LOL.
Whatever happened to crime doesn’t pay? Whatever happened to paying for one’s crimes? Where is the good example being set and beheld? Instead of catching the bad guys, governors in in my home state (what a laugh) give them the key to the city…..or more bad guys are harvested . I am waiting for Carlos or his clone to show up.

GOOD! Didnt like either Sloan. Heres hoping Paul goes on a rampage and takes out Nathan, Sabrina, Valerie, Lulu, Ava and Morgan!

Now onto Anna. Either her and Paul will fall for each other or he will prosecute her for Carlo’s murder UNLESS Carlos reappears and Paul has to let Anna go. I would like to see Paul lay it on Anna big time and have Robert come back into town and side with Anna and go after Paul. Either way, I love Richard Bergi and miss Robert Scorpio!

I hope Paul goes on a killing spree too and kills offf half the cast…maybe he can pollute the air with a deadly toxin and only a few survive!

I know, networks bitch about how expensive it is to produce a soap and they have to cut the budget. WELL, cut it! I hate to see people lose jobs but keep people who are relevant and cut the fat and put some money into the sets or do an on location story!

Franco should go postal again and off most of the current cast. The canvas is bloated and unfocused. It is a shame that so many talented actors are stuck in roles that are completely wasted or pointless. Altman and Pass an Auntie have their work cut out for them. I am guardedly optimistic about their work but am NOT happy with Michael going gangsta! He looks and sounds ridiculous. A cherubic blonde boy who looks barely out of his teens has no place in the mob. Leave that crap to Morgan. I am just watching a DEEPLY affecting scene on DAYS with Kayla, Caroline and Victor and it reminded me how good soaps can be when they focus on family!! DAYS is awesome right now!! It is tight and focused and entertaining.

Hey, jimh.
What Paul will do is use the incriminating info on Anna to his advantage. He is just biding his time…like a snake in the grass, lurking; waiting for the right instant, to pounce. Will Anna capitulate?

I agree. The list is long:
Kiki
Elizabeth
Sabrina
Ava
Julian
Valerie
Alexis
Jordan

OH yes, Timm. I forgot Nathan and Morgan. They need to go too
So much excess baggage. And since Alexis sold her soul to the Devil, I think she and her cleavage need to go too

all your list are stupid, you all basically want a show with no characters, just plain dumb list!

My dear Harry:
If Nathan leaves, whose well-honed chest, abs and biceps am I to admire?

Alexis looks like a goof ogling over every wag of Julian’s tail!

Lol, Timmm. Paul may just do that. He is fermenting, right now. Lol. Shooting Sloane before the guy could say, “uncle” proves what a heartless ‘batard’ he really is. And, that was unplanned, spur of the moment, I’m assuming. Imagine when his schemes are all categorically laid-out? WOW!!
We all have our favorites, I guess. Ava brings good and evil all rolled into one. We have seen how fiercely and convincingly ( well, not the Denise part, lol) she can act. We need her to create conflict; without conflict, there’s no story. Valerie is inconsequential; introduced as a remaining link to the Spencers that once were. She is a wanna-be. We may not see her purpose right now, but it was mentioned before that she may be a Q. Therefore intertwining the two families. Nathan has a lot of story to tell. He will be the hero…yeah, at least, my hero…LOL. I don’t much care about Dante or Lulu….they are the most insipid lovers and partners ever. Sabrina’s purpose right now is to bring some balance to Michael’s life? Ha! I don’t mind her presence, but, c’mon, she’s encouraging Michael to say, “open sesame” and enter/plunge into the abyss? Yeah, I agree about Sabrina. There was a time I thought she could be Sonny’s daughter….but, the less humanity spawned by Satan, the better.
Morgan is a waste. Even idiots have a modicum of a functioning brain….this guy has none. Whatever it is the writers are trying to do with this character, well, it’s just not working. He goes on a rampage over every little thing….is that a manifestation of bipolar disorder? Or, is he just a spoiled nincompoop used to getting his way? Oh, but of course….everything comes to a halt….every blessed storyline is at a standstill because the Prince of darkness takes center stage. We are only afforded a few glimpses of what or may not happen with Jake, Liz, Sam, Morgan, Ava, and the rest.
I think, Timmm, that only a couple of whom you have mentioned should take a hike. Later, luv-ya.

“Nathan has a lot of story to tell.” WHAT!

Nathan’s story:
I get up, shower, dry myself off, look in the mirror and say wow, theres that hunky guy in my bathroom again!

I go to the kitchen no one sees, eat some oatmeal, banana and down a broccoli smoothie!

Go to the living room/dining room. Do some push ups and sit ups and….

Oh, I get a shower, theres that guy in the mirror staring at me again!

The front door makes a noise [Someone knocks] Its Valerie Spencer. Spenser, isnt Bobbie and Luke pasty white? Wait, they told me not to think! I’m sweating now!

Another shower!!!

Ha ha ha!

@Timmm..
Hello, ‘dahling’.
Oh, my gosh, Timmm…I am laughing so hard…you really rock my world…LOL
You have just described my husband, how did you know that was his morning ritual?? HaHa!
That is your best satirical post, yet. I have enjoyed reading it to no end.
I must make my point, though…all teasing aside: I still feel that sooner or later, Nathan’s father will be making an appearance. That’s what I meant when I said Nathan had a lot of story to tell. Perhaps I should have phrased it differently; that is, there is a storyline centered around his paternity; his parentage. I did mention the other day that Paul could be his father, unbeknownst to no one but Liesl. Arrivederci…luv-ya.

@CeeCee….We are of the same mind when it comes to Paul as a “babydaddy” candidate for Nathan….I have mentioned this one before in the recent past. We need to see an encounter between Hornsby and Dr. O. to ascertain that possibility. Also, whilst we are on the subject of paternity, how about this one: Ava somehow obtained a sperm sample from Dante (leftovers in the lab?) and used that to father Avery. After today’s episode where the little munchkin had a rash, I recalled Rocco’s allergy to latex, which he inherited from his father. Could this be why Ava’s child DNA tested out as a “Corinthos?” Everyone assumed that meant either Morgan or Sonny, but what if the answer is neither A nor B, but “C?” Just ruminating…..

@Shay.
Hi, Shay……good one. Avery is Dante’s? Never crossed my mind. How deviously delicious would that be?
As yourself, I automatically assumed Paul was a good candidate as being Nathan’s father. I talked about it….but, I think only you and I actually touched on that subject. Perhaps it’s too far fetched?
I can’t get over how alert and smart and cute the twin babies are. I want to reach out and hold either of them. Later.

Well, FINALLY, CeeCeeGirl! One of my responses to you made it to post….I’m not sure if this is to what you were referring on another GH thread, but suffice to say, it was only one of three from yesterday, one being rather lengthy in explaining my recent absence. If you did NOT get that particular reply, let me know and I shall throw myself upon the mercy of the moderators and post it for a second time with a request to at least personally send it to you! Talk about frustrating….if I even use the words “Sappy” or “Alexis,” I get totally obliterated, yet someone else can express the exact same sentiment and make it online….as for our speculations on various paternities, I think they are brilliant. Both are rather clever and unexpected, and would be a welcome change from the banal nature of the two (?) current pregnancies. (What is this obsession with reproduction anyway????? Port Charles has plenty of cute kiddies…..especially Avery. We don’t need anymore darn offspring!) Neither of these new “blessed events” is remotely necessary…and the very notion of having to put up with such nonsense again has turned me off to GH, possibly for good this time. Really!

@Shay.
Oh, I hear you, Shay. All these babies. Point is, how many of them will survive?
Unfortunately, sweetie, I did not get your post explaining your absence. I look forward hearing it. Yes, do beg, if you must…LOL. Later.

Okay….I’m begging! Mr./Ms. Moderator….PLEEEEZE send this to my bestie CeeCee! I completely understand that you don’t always appreciate my thoughts and how they are expressed…fair enough, don’t post me for public consumption. But when you also fail to forward my responses to the inboxes of designated parties, it makes me appear rude and disinterested…and I’m neither!!! So, if you could please personally pass this one on to CeeCee????…Much thanks! (Resend begins here…..) Oh, I’m still here, CeeCeeGirl!!!!….Lurking about on the GH threads…thanks for asking! I’ve not had much to say since the NLG TWI (Tweeting While Intoxicated) debacle….I repeatedly expressed my negative thoughts on her behavior–okay, I raked her over the coals—and practically none of my sentiments made it online, even though my issue was with not what she said, but simply the irresponsible m.o. of her saying that and so many other things in the past. After that episode, I just had enough for awhile, since I also (apparently) failed to get a few of my other previous responses directed to you, as well. (I’m assuming you did not receive them?) It just seemed a good opportunity for a bit of a time out…..from both commenting and watching GH….I just cannot take it as it currently is! But I do always check out the recaps and that in itself is a gag-worthy exercise. Absolutely nothing has changed! All the wrong legacy characters are being frontburnered and the atrocious, worthless newbies are still hanging around offering little of value. Not much in which for me to invest at this point…..it’s no wonder ratings are down. I keep hoping for a turnaround so that I can regain my sense of enjoyment, as opposed to utter disgust, for my once-beloved soap. However, from what I have been reading in spoilers, such is not the case….yet. At any rate, I do read this website on a daily basis to keep apprised of what all my favorite people have to say, you included, but of course!….I shall look for your other post! Once again, thank you for wondering about me. I’ve missed you, too! I will try to get back into the “posting groove,” Girlfriend! Va bene? Later!

When is all the mob violence on this show going to end? GH is not getting better, it is getting worse.

agreed. I fast forwarded through most of Friday and Monday’s shows.

Tristan..
The GH mob stuff has not ended for 3 decades, and it will not end,
the mob is a cornerstone of GH, it is a core part of GH ..

I watch 2 soaps and both are very different from each other, I like the variety.
I get different things from each soap/balance perhaps..
I am among all the GH mab fans, and we are many 🙂

I’m under the impression that it’s not going to end, unfortunately. Every hint i hear about the new writers isthat they want to focus on the Corinthos Family. I stopped watching, but hopefully, you’ll all let me know if by some miracle things change.

Justin, I haven’t watched in two months, but I troll the boards hoping for good news.

Suooo, the mob has not been a cornerstone of GH. And emphasis on the mob is why RC/FV were brought on in the first place, to salvage GH because of the horrible ratings due to the mob obsession of the previous regime. GH cannot survive on the love of the mob fans alone. It needs to recapture viewers who left because of the mob. If it is mob central again, GH will not survive. Simple as that. Last time that happened GH was going to be cancelled, unless your beloved RC and FV could turn it around. Which they did, until they tried to turn it into a retirement home for stars of other soaps; losing focus again and losing viewers. Which is where we are now, with them going back to the mob because it is the easy way out: just have people yell at each other and shoot and kill. Any hack can write this nonsense. If they don’t diversify the storylines, GH will fall again never to rise. I’ll take my prediction to the bank: it’s money.

No one doubts that some like the mob. But that group is far outweighed by the number of viewers who have left because of the mob. GH can only survive by giving satisfaction to the greatest numbers, not just the faction of mob fans. GH has to please more than viewers like you, or it is dead. Is that what you want? Would you prefer that GH cater only to mob fans and end up cancelled? If so, you are not the true fan of the show that you pretend to be: you’re a fan of the mob, not of GH. If you were, you would want it to survive. It won’t focusing on the mob.

Hi Tristan…from what I’ve read, the new writers are literally going to focus on both…mob and romance. Not necessarily in that order or intertwined!

Ugh. Can’t stand Paul atall.

I just lost my ‘liking’ for Paul with my lunch, Margie.

Me too. Well it’s October 1. I really hope things change in GH. Otherwise…

CeeCee .. 🙂
Paul is awesome!!
He is handsome and pure power, a great character..
We have only seen a few scenes with Paul and wow I’m looking forward to more of the charming dangerous man..
He is a man nobody should mess with! yet, he has soft side will Dillion and Tracy..

I can’t wait to see where he goes with Anna and of course Tracy..

ALL soaps need the bad guys to bring suspense and intrigue and to give us someone to root for, their targets!
some root for bad guys some for the good guys, whichever they bring the excitement..

@su.
Hi susu.
I really do appreciate your loyalty. But, a good person is good all around; not just to the people he loves. And, even then, people such as Sonny, and I am sure we will see in Paul, do turn against their own family. Sonny has sold his soul to Beelzebub. You know of Judas Iscariot, right? Weeell!
I do agree that Burgi is one superlative actor. That’s why I am disappointed, I guess. I did not expect Paul turning out to be a cold-hearted murderer. Later.

Your going to like him even less. I hear he will start toying with Nathan soon.

@Timmm.
And what a tail it is!!!! Absolutely wasted on Alexis. HaHa and LOL.

@Timmm.
You are cracking me up, Timmm, with your one-liners. Always hits the spot. Now, because my mind is a little bit in the gutter, and a little bit in all that’s ‘pure’, I am getting mixed visions here. LOL. Toying with Nathan.?…golly gee, that leaves an open field of meaning, Timmm. Whatevah do you mean, suh? HaHaHa..I’m having so much fun….

More dumb mob stuff.

So, Carly decides she needs to pray for Sonny’s life. Who does she pray to? Jesus, Allah, Buddah, Krishna, God Almighty Himself? No – she prays to Saint Jason, a mob enforcer and cold-blooded killer. This was the most unintentionally funny scene in recent memory. Having said that, Laura Wright is awesome. Long live GH!

Great post, Mister Media.

LOL!!! hilarious!

Laura Wright can cry like no other; she makes sh*t work 😉

Ahh, Mister Media….Carly’s prayer scene, imploring whatever force out there was a mockery of everything that is true…..goes directly against nature.
However, I agree…Laura is killing it; whether we like the character or not. Furthermore, the woman’s got LEGS. A full view of her gams was shown today. I say WOW!!!!

Laura/Carly doesn’t get enough praise..
Her acting is superb, she can bring it !

I am Luvin’ Paul !!
Finally the real deal, a real mobster!! (he is writen well..
Ava will find herself in over her head and then Julian to her rescue, seems logical.

Paul killed Sloane because he doesn’t fit in with his plans, Sloane could become a stick in the wheel.
That killing was ”cartel” style. Paul’s missing years got him higher up in the cartel for sure. It doesn’t matter how one gets involved with the cartel it is how one comes out lol
And– Paul now owns Anna!
and Anna has no connections to counteract Paul, Anna is a lone wolf.. She needs Scorpio!
Dante is as useless against Paul & his peoples.

Finola/Anna has gotten a good story.. She will rock in this story!
hmm who will she get involved with to save herself? (she really needs Scorpio!

The mob, and the mobsters families have been the cornerstone of GH for 3 decades.
It’s about time GH goes back to its roots..
The Hospital is a building, just a building.
The hospital was a hanging out place; a building. It was about the doctors & nurses and their families loooog gone. Patrick & Liz are just an echo..

GH will never be about Doctors & nurses and their issues, again. (it would need a new cast of doctors and nurses and fans who would want to watch a new cast of them develop for 8 years to even start building it up. naww with budget it’s never gonna happen..
Obvious; the network is moving forward from the 80’s..

The Q’s are down to Tracy (ready to retire) Mona (already retired on call) Dillon who has not yet developed will be the lone Q.
Jason will not be a Q because there are no Q’s for him to interact with and no writer would ever put Jason behind a do nothing desk.
Jason will be lovingly Mona’s son but he will also be Jason/Jake mix ..
Hey!! if Mona dies Jason will inherit the mansion and ELQ, I’d imagine ..

was told– in the all soaps other core families had died out too (even the Webers are for all purposes dead and gone) AMC the Chancellor’s ect ect..

Happy GH is having some good ol’ fashioned mob stuff going on!
Of course there are many other characters, 30 plus of them, and their stories that will soon be on screen too.. looking forward to the fight of who gets Avery .. Jason’s revel and the turning of all when he’s back, Anna and her dilemma,..
gotta wonder who is capable of ridding Port Charles of the corrupt DA and mayor.. can’t be Anna she is owned by Paul, now. Dante hahaa no way..

Long Live the Mob!! (us mob lovers are many and happy 🙂

Who the hell is Mona?

Margie 🙂
ohh wow, on me!
I meant ”Monica” .. posting while triple tasking isn’t my thing lol
thanks for letting me see my 0oopsie ..

Lol, Margie. Su means Monica…only a typo. It happens.

It may not be just the lose of the Q’s, other core families, and General Hospital as anything but a place to patch up the criminals. There may also be an exodus of the demo, not the one the networks covet, that none-the-less provides the anchor numbers for ABC to keep GH on the air. Because as we have already experienced, ABC can be as ruthless as Paul if GH “doesn’t fit into their plans” anymore. Then bye-bye mobsters. We’ll see!

Hi Rose,,
GH is the way the network wants it be.
The direction it is going is what they want..
I’m happy there will some kind of mob stuff going on, after GH’s core is mob related.

I can not see a way to build the Q’s back back up, especially not at this stage of the game/too late…
RC/FV brought in Dillion to help keep the Quartermaines alive, but still not by any means enough to sustain the Q’s 🙁
Tracy & Monica are near retiring and then Dillion (Ned is at Days) will be the last of the Q’s… sad, indeed 🙁

(( my loved Cassadines are all gone too except Nik and the rarely on screen Helena..
I miss the Alcazar’s and the Zacchara’s and Jerry Jax, they made GH light up!!

Here’s a little history lesson for you Su000. The cornerstone of GH is General Hospital. From 1963 – 1978 there was no city of Port Charles. GH revolved around the halls of General Hospital.

There were “mob” stories in 1978 – 80 (Frank Smith), then again from 1988-91 (Jerome Family). Sonny was introduced in 1992 but we didn’t have a full-on mob focus until around 2000.

P.S.: You “mob lovers” are very few. DO YOU LOOK AT THE RATINGS?????????????????????

So, no GH is not a show about the mob.

Oh su0000, you like poking at people dont you? The “M” word! MOB! I agree, the mob has had a role in GH for years and it always will. Its called GENERAL HOSPITAL but it is a place where characters bump into each other but it is not central to the show since its been broadcasted in BLACK and freakin WHITE! People want “Greys Anatomy Daytime!” I dont!

Hi Timmm…Don’t want Greys Anatomy, etc., daytime, or anytime. Don’t like wall-to-wall operations, etc. Ugh! But also don’t want the mob and killings all of the time on “daytime.” Wish writers could figure something out that had a more balanced mix of good storytelling that made everyone from su to practically everybody else happy…at least most of the time. And it’s not that I want the mob wiped out entirely…just don’t want them to be the focus of GH.

I understand, Timmm. The mob is here to stay. However, Rose has more than a valid point. There should be a balance. And, I hope I do not fit into the category of domesticity…..the kind of housewife who watches GREY’S ANATOMY, or all that other fluff/stuff with the word WIFE in it. Other than my soaps, documentaries , and crime drama, I love to watch HOUSE FLIPPING on HG-HD.

The character could have been a great addition to the cast. But, no, they had to make him another Mobster. I too prayed–I prayed Sonny would die–and somehow take Morgan with him.

I love Laura Wright–but she was so much better with Jax. There was more realistic conflict & a lot of love. I cannot tolerate the blind hypocrisy of the family Corinthos. As if Sonny is any better than Ava.

Was this show light on mobsters that they had to make Paul one too? And who is he “reporting” in to? Carlos? Faison? Fluke 2?

For all that is holy, NO Fluke2 or ever.

It’s my fear, not my wish

LOL, mollie. God forbid. I don’t know if I could live through another Flukoid.

@Lucy D…..No more “Clusterfluke!” (One, two…or otherwise…PLEASE!) But as to whom Paul could be reporting? Maybe a Cassadine? (The occasionally mentioned, but never see Valentin?) Or….what if Paul is in actuality, Valentin? How cool would that be? (I’m waiting for him to run into Dr. O. to see what her reaction will be…that may provide a good clue as to his game.)

Just what this show needed — more violence and more organized crime. Haven’t the viewers suffered enough with the Corinthos clan being on every day since the almost wedding the week of Labor Day? Sadly it appears that Ron Carlivati’s exit has meant the end of the snappy banter and any sense of fun so that we can get back to worshipping at the altar of Saint Sonny.

I can’t believe One Life To Live was cancelled instead of GH…

Alan – you are so right about OLTL. It was a better show with a great cast.

Loved One Life to Live. Never should have been canceled. Gh has it’s place for some fans, but OLTL was wonderful. Miss it 🙁

They should’ve found a way to have saved both “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.” Any chance they could resurrect them??? (And…I’m not sure…but the new writers’ material doesn’t begin until next week, right?)

The best thing about this was we did not get a two day dialogue of somebody pointing a gun he just pulled it out and shot him. What a total waste of a handsome actor Burgi .I hear Sonny is going to have a stroke good deal for the actor he won’t have to struggle to remember his lines.

k/kay that is too funny. Yes, maybe Maurice will actually be able to handle his lines if he just has to grunt and pout. Lol.

I objectively realize that Burgi is good looking…but I can’t get past his resemblance to Fred Gwynne…aka Herman Munster.

MF…Paul “eliminates” Sloane is just another friendly fire way of saying he brutally killed Sloane at point blank with no warning. Many commenters have said how they grew up watching soaps with mom or grams. So much for a “love in the afternoon” escape, and “family” entertainment that I wouldn’t mind my kids seeing.

I really don’t like the violence at all… I don’t want those images in my mind…(including that awful, sudden stabbing of Silas). It’s all so unnecessary. Sometimes, esp. regarding violence and the imagination, less is more. Wish the writers understood this. And, yep, I grew up watching the soaps with my mom too. It doesn’t always seem like the soap writers today understand the genre. And sometimes it seems like they’re trying to change the soaps to be more like prime-time shows, which doesn’t work for me in any way. 🙁

I think that’s it exactly, Samantha. Daytime is trying to mimic prime time. I suppose “they” are omitting the line of separation here. It’s not working for most of us, it seems. Daytime has lost much of the enjoyment I derived from it….at least, for me. I don’t really have the same eagerness to catch the next episode, albeit I always manage to find time to watch. I have been watching soaps all my life, so it would almost be like taking an important chunk out of my day. I suppose any soap lover feels the same way.
Now, as a point of interest…..would it be far-fetched for Paul to be Nathan’s father? Liesl had said that whomever that man may be, is much worse than Victor C. Well, I find Paul, in his suave, debonair, every-hair-in-place, starched and pressed to the gills self, quite threatening……like the carnivorous eyes of the crocodile lurking just beneath the water’s surface.

You are so right, Rose. I did not expect Paul to do that. I jumped when I heard the gunshot. It caught me off-guard. I am really trying to understand what is going on here. Are TPTB preparing us for the demise of Sonny’s life of crime? Will Paul fill that ‘coveted honor’?
Now, it seems poor Anna will be at Paul’s mercy; who is relishing this cat-and-mouse-game. Perhaps he has romantic designs towards her….a sexual liaison? Will the writers pull these two together? Poor Tracy.
Those days of watching cleaner, happier soaps with Gran or Mom is fast becoming a distant memory, my friend.

Ps. Perhaps, my mind is roaming in the wrong direction. Could something be building between Paul and Ava, other than their diabolical conspiracy?
Speaking of Ava, I know she’s a bad, bad girl, but where does Morgan get off calling her a murderess; being the scion of an infamous murderer himself? Wasn’t he ready to take Julian out? Who are these people? The Untouchables? I think these writers better come to grips with the fact that members of the mob are in a league of their own. One does not normally see them among the general public. And, if by chance, one ends up in the hospital, there would be a swarm of paparazzi. I did not even see one paparazzo around. Yeah, yeah, it’s a soap…but make it look somewhat credible. Trying to have them mingle with ‘normal’ society is unrealistic…..they are a lot more ostracized than what these meanies are portrayed to be. Obviously, the writers need to confer with Puzo or Sorsese to sort of get an idea on how to write an inspiring crime story.

Yes, Rose. Anyone who knows anything about the method of writing knows that where there’s good, there must be evil. Just as there must be character foils. It started in the Garden of Eden…LOL. However, good must win, if not always because that would be unrealistic, but, at least, once in a while.
As I always say, fiction mimics reality; nonetheless as I, and many fellow-posters have said, Daytime should keep its separation from Prime-time. I know that’s the way it was, but the line of separation has completely disappeared. Nothing is left to the imagination. It’s like wearing a sleek, elegant, sexy dress (preferably black or red. Lol.)……we never reveal all our assets.

Well Rose, alot of the moms dont watch anymore and the grams are dead! Sad but true. In 2015 this is what is happening on TV and on the internet, violence! Sad but true.

Maybe some of us would like a respite from violence, Timmm. If it were all that, GH’s ratings would be through the roof. But they are not, are they? Hmmm, wonder why.

If the moms aren’t watching and the grams are dead (which they all are not, by the way) just who does this afternoon violence appeal to? The thirty-something boy/men living in mom and dad’s basement, living vicariously through the inept shoot-em-ups on GH? If they are what GH is targeting, this show will be dead in a year. Or less. It needs the moms and grans BACK to survive. You don’t get ’em back with non-stop violence.

Tristan made a valid point. I WANT moms to watch and I want GRAMS to be alive and watch! What I was trying to say is times have changed and viewers habits have changed, as well. Tristan is right, GH shouldnt appeal to men in their 20’s or 30’s who are looking for violence. God knows there is enough of that! [Prayers to the folks in Oregon.] I would love romance and humor over violence but you need patience in the hospital. The other thing about GH is the mob has been around so long that so many characters would become irrelevant without it. [Sonny, Anna, Duke, Jason, Sam, Julian, Ava, Michael, Goofball, Brenda, Carly, Robert, Frisco, Mac, Felicia, ect.]

Timmm, glad you mentioned Oregon. There is just so much horrible violence and my problem with GH is that it glorifies killing and killers, and REVELS IN VIOLENCE!!!!! Such a wrong message in this society. Sometimes entertainment should offer another path; show that there are better ways of living and better people than Sonnys and Pauls in this world. What kind of a message is it sending to society when the show glamorizes murders and murderers and has no DECENT MORAL COMPASS??? GH has NO decency in it. No heroes to root for!!!!

What is the difference between the killers at Sandy Hook and in Oregon and the beloved mobsters of GH? They are all killers. So you tell me.

Timmm…i think we all have some valid points. I guess what would work for all of us is more balance between good and bad, with bad actions having consequences just once in a while, and way less in-your-face-violence, especially with guns. I echo your sentiments about those in Oregon, and everyone else affected directly or indirectly with this and the other shootings in the US. It’s not entertaining when it happens in real life, so why have it as a frequent staple for GH, or soaps in general.

However, you need Sonny, the mob or something like that, the Cassidines, and other bad guys/gals to “challenge” the “good” citizens of Port Charles or else it would get boring. Plus, even though they have questionable morals and ethics, to put it mildly, they have brought a lot of interesting characters to GH.

But just not a diet of the violence, or the graphic shootings like Paul/Sloane, or even Anna, who I love, and Carlos.

I agree with balance. As for the shootings, my main objection is that there are too many and the victims are characters I love like AJ and Silas. As far as shootings go,,,I don’t agree they’re graphic. They’re pretty innocuous other than the obvious result. No blood…or too unrealistic to affect me…no gore.

As for the “hospital”…I wouldn’t mind seeing more scenes and interactions there like in days of old, but the Steve Hardys and the lovable gossip Amy are gone. So, unless they can recreate the “hub” it used to be, I could do without it. Have no desire to watch a medical show. Illness isn’t my form of entertainment.

Did I miss something? Is Carlos alive? I enjoy the actor, so I hope so, but what can he do now unless he teams with Anna to take down Paul for his redemption.

I havent seen where Jeff resigned but I really think someone screwed up when they killed off him and Silas.

By all accounts, Carlos is dead, j9. I just have a hunch that he will pop up sooner or later. It is part of GH’s staple. LOL.
The reason why he was ‘brought up’ by Ava was to put the blame of Sonny’s shooting on him and off Julian. Ava’s fib worked, so far. It would be ironic if Carlos survived his own shooting.
An alliance between Anna and Carlos? Hmmmm. Wow! Never thought about that because I don’t think it’s feasible…yet again, who knows with these soaps!

Thanks, CeeCee! I must have missed that part about Ava just saying that about Carlos. I love that Anna and Carlos team up to take down Paul, it would redeem Carlos and I’d like to have them keep (and use!) this actor. Tons of charisma and great actor. I hope another soap hires this guy if a return doesn’t work out.

I really detested what the writers did with the Sloane character — and am beyond irritated that they let Robb Derringer, the original Sloane, go. (Or did they… Hmm… 😉 )

First of all, Sloane was a sharp, intelligent character. He may have done some despicable things, but what an intriguing character with so many story possibilities!

Not much regarding his recent story lines and behavior have made a lot of sense to me. In the beginning (remember the New Year’s Eve kiss?) there were sparks that could’ve rivaled any of the old Hollywood romance stories. And then they let the original actor go. The second actor, and no offence to him, but he wasn’t “it,” he wasn’t that charming, mysterious, intriguing man anymore. But then they brought the original Sloane back, and the sparks started again.

However, because of the freaky story lines, this character started behaving in “non-Sloane” ways (again, because the actor had to follow the seemingly ridiculous twists and turns of the writers). The Sloane who first appeared in Port Charles and romanced Anna would never have gone on some insane, jealous trek. What the heck??? And, even if he were drunk, the character that we got to know would never have been so stupid. Show up to talk to Paul and tell all and ask for immunity? Yeah, right. (Bad writing…or something else the writers are up to? Maybe…) He was presented as a special agent. He’s far from stupid. We’re expected to believe that this intelligent agent fell apart all because of Anna not seeming to want him anymore? Not buying it one bit.

So. Here’s my guess (and my hope — because I absolutely love this actor and character and want to see more of him in Port Charles!): Perhaps everything’s been a ruse. Well just about everything. Think about it…and keep in mind that he and Anna are secret agents who know all the tricks of the trade (and this would keep them both in the “intelligent category” where each of these wonderful actors belongs). Maybe the fighting between Sloane and Anna was done on purpose by these characters knowing that their conversations were being bugged. Maybe they knew about the mob’s goings-on before we, the audience did. And maybe Sloane’s scenes with Nikolaus and Hayden were on purpose too — to have witnesses to his “pining away for Anna”… And maybe when he met Paul on the docks, he was wearing a bullet-proof vest. And maybe Anna going to see Dante was not about what we were led to believe. And Anna’s nervousness wasn’t because she didn’t know if she was going to be caught as a criminal for “killing” Carlos, but because she didn’t know if her plot with Sloane would really work or not.

Sloane’s body was never seen after he was shot by Paul. The writers, thankfully, have left the door open for him to return. When? I don’t know. Maybe he’ll be away gathering information to give to Anna and then return to save the day somehow.

All I know is that there are still TONS of possible great story lines with all of this.

Writers/Producers/Directors/Etc.: Please, please, please, bring Sloane/Derringer back as soon as possible! He’s a wonderful addition to General Hospital. (And…while I’m at it…wanted to say that if you don’t want him with Anna romantically…I think there was a spark between Hayden and him when he showed up at Nikolas’s house… 😉 Now that would be interesting too…) Thank you for listening! 🙂

Sometime short stay charaters are created.
The purpose of a short stay charater is to be and then not to be lol
Sloane character was not meant to be a regular.
The Sloane character had a purpose, to give Anna a great story, then he was done.
It is business, not everyone who enters can stay..
Some are hired as short stay.

Su, I understand that some actors are only on a short-term basis. However, some of the short-term actors actually turn into long-term, and I could definitely see him becoming a regular in Port Charles. (Did you see the latest edition of the ABC Soaps magazine? Robb Derringer was given a great article and awarded the magazine’s “Gold Star” for acting. He deserved it. And there were so many story lines his character could’ve been woven into. It’s just sad when you see someone so talented and who works well with the regular cast members and then see him not being kept on the show. And I feel the same way about Silas. If they aren’t “working” well with the other story lines, etc., it’s a lack of creativity on the writers’ parts. They had gems right in front of them with Robb Derringer and Michael Easton. So sad. Well, if they aren’t brought back, I expect to see them in other shows soon! They deserve it.

Wish Robb was still on..Or hell bring him back as someone else. Ugh!!! The soap hasn’t been the same sense.

I dont mind that Sloane is gone. I would much rather have Robert Scorpio back for Anna to save the day. Finola and Tristan have so much chemistry and history:)

You’re right, Liz.
Sloane could have had a chance…but, the writers decided to make him an undesirable catch that the cat dragged in. Sloane just did not work, afterall.
I am not familiar with Robert Scorpio. I take it he is/was nothing like Colin Atkinson. However, whatever Robert and Anna had is long gone……which does not mean he would not be able to get Anna out of her present fix. Problem is, I don’t know if I’d be able to resist the urge to smack him a few rounds. If Scorpio came back, I would not be able to separate him from jawless Colin.

This whole scene with Carly, Morgan, and Michael talking about Ava being a killer is absolutely ridiculous! Plus, they had the nerve to be upset that she wasn’t tried for it. Sonny was released for killing A.J. and for a while Michael was angry; yet, now he has totally forgotten his indignation with Sonny’s only spending a month in prison; unbelievable! I don’t understand why the writers didn’t have Ava mention A.J.’s murder by Sonny during the tirade of her murdering Sonny’s girlfriend and what an unfit mother she is. Really! These people act as if Sonny is a paragon of virtue. These writers are going to at some point rip this baby from Ava and give her back to Sonny. Plus, Carly had the nerve to say that Sonny has the right to see his child; however, when the shoe was on the other foot, Sonny positively refused to allow Ava to see her daughter.
Yes, instead of Sloane, this whole mob crowd should have been killed ; I agree, it’s General Hospital , not General Hospital and The Mob. I can’t even give the mob credit for sending people to GH. ; yet, the funeral home is smiling or should I say funeral homes.

Hi, Belle.
Ava did not mention Sonny murdering AJ because it is obvious the PTB want us to forget that atrocity ever happened. Calling Ava any sort of name “ain’t” working for us, is it? I did say, They are calling the kettle black!
Indignation? You are too kind with your words, Belle, my friend. We witnessed Michael’s wrath; his rage; his thirst for revenge. What about barring Ava/Denise from seeing Avery?
Furthermore, how soon Michael forgets what Morgan did to him. He drugged him. Where was the familial concern for his brother and sister then? What if Michael had decided to drive home with the baby in the car? I had hoped the new writers would accommodate us by ‘fixing’ all these little nagging inconsistencies….but, to no avail. These characters should all show up wearing clown costumes…the hospital has become a circus, the perfect platform for the Corinthos’ clan.

Yes, it’s horrible what the writers have done. I think they believe the audience will forget in due time…however, that assumption means they hold little regard for the viewers, who aren’t as ignorant as they might think. 😉 Yeah, it’s all just too much… Makes me not care. And the death of Sloane (unless it was a fake “death”), along with the death of Silas (both of which were too sudden and violent), makes me want to move on from Port Charles. In fact, with everything combined, I’m really not interested anymore in this once great soap. Sigh. Have watched since I was kid with my mom. But it’s just not the same, and I blame the writers and executives. I feel so sorry for those actors too, who are given less than excellent scripts to work with. Well, thanks for letting me vent. Ha… I may tune in next week to see what the new writers are up to. But they would really have to “wow” me with better stories, less violence, something to tug at my heart and make me want to stay. And bringing back Sloane and Silas somehow (even if those actors played different characters) would be a dream come true.

@Samantha.
Hi,
You can vent any time you want, Samantha. I’m here for you…LOL.
I don’t know if you watch Days, but if you want a ‘heart-tugger’, that’s the soap to watch right now. Kassie DePaiva has been playing at my heartstrings for a while now. Later.

I agree with everything you wrote Belle, but I’ll add the audacity of Carly saying Sonny has a right to his daughter. I want to SCREAM…did YOU and Sonny think about that when you stole Michael from AJ? You would think this would give both of them pause…some revelation that they did this to Michael’s father. You would also think we’d see some internal conflict in Michael as he grapples with that fact. It appears “think” is the operative word here. Either the writers don’t think past the immediate script…or they think it’s acceptable. It’s not.

Arg! They just bring back the actor I preferred for Sloane and then kill him off? What is the point, other than they must think we’re dumb not to figure out who shot whom – as the 2nd Sloane actor looks just a bit like Hornsby.

Wish this actor (Hornsby) could have been a different character and they could’ve gotten Paul Satterfield to come back as Hornsby, because he played a devil on OLTL (Spencer Truman) years after he left GH and I could really hate his character all over again, rather than this Sloane, who came on like a nice guy at first. This turn around reminds me of Ted Bundy. **shivers**

General Hospital

(INTERVIEW) Adam Huss Talks on His Latest GH Return, Maura West, Nicholas Chavez, and Being a Swiftie

This week, General Hospital fans were in for a surprise appearance when Adam Huss reappeared as Nikolas Cassadine while serving jail time in Pentonville. He also had a very intriguing visitor, his ex, Ava Jerome (Maura West)!

In the key scenes, Ava seemingly tells Nikolas, who can do nothing about the situation, how she is getting closer to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and within his inner-sanctum, much to Nikolas’ chagrin. For Huss, those scenes were difficult to shoot, because in real-life he has just lost his beloved grandmother, but he soldiered through and delivered an effective performance.

Adam has had quite the adventure as GH’s dark prince of the Cassadine clan. Having first subbed for former Nikolas, Marcus Coloma, a few times and over a few years time, then taking over the role and being instrumental in moving story forward, but yet not always physically on the canvas. Since taking over the role, Huss has put his own spin on Nikolas, while delivering some top-notch performances. Look no further than in scenes with the exited Nicholas Chavez (Spencer), the aforementioned West, GH icon Genie Francis (Laura), or the twins that the play Baby Ace (Joey Clay, who shares the role with twin brother Jay) to name but a few.

Michael Fairman TV chatted with Adam to get his thoughts on: Nikolas’ emotional state now, where he thinks the storyline may head in the future, his co-stars, reflecting on what the late Tyler Christopher (ex-Nikolas) brought to the role, and yes, some banter with us about Taylor Swift!  Check out what Adam had to say below.

Nikolas is kind of the gift that keeps on giving, as you keep popping back up on GH. Just when you think the show literally has written him off, he makes a return. Look no further than on Monday’s April 29th episode when he gets a visit from Ava while in prison.

ADAM: Listen, I’ve really fallen in love with playing the character. I’ve stated that I’m super passionate about it. I really like that the more I delve into his backstory, I learn about the layers of who he is. Watching Tyler Christopher’s (ex-Nikolas) work, because he really originated that character, I become even more enthusiastic about it. I have so much respect for this medium as it is. I’m a fan of TV and film. I am coming in to the story sometimes not knowing where Nikolas may be mentally. So, it’s been nice to be guided once you’re on set. You can’t come in with just your ideas and you have to be open to the collaboration. It’s been a challenge, but a lot of fun.

In the scenes that just aired opposite Maura West, it seemed you could tell that Nikolas still cared for Ava.

ADAM: I thought that was a happy surprise. I am so fond of Maura as a person. I could say that we’ve mutually grown closer each time I come in and play the part. I don’t think Ava knew what she was going to really get when she came to see Nikolas. When he saw her, I think he was just taken with her. It was interesting. There was one moment when she’s talking about Sonny. I felt as if Nikolas didn’t want to hear this, but I was advised by our director, Allison Reames Smith and Frank Valentini (EP, GH), “Remember, Nikolas hasn’t seen her in months and this is really exciting for him to be sitting across from her. ” So that really fed the motivation.

Nikolas gets an earful from Ava, and he is left with her secret, which is the dose of medication in Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) pills are causing him to act erratic. Ava kind of admitted to Nikolas what was going on and what she was planning.

ADAM: She did, and you’re right. I think she told him because it was safe, and in her mind he’s not going anywhere.

However, Nikolas isn’t always on the up and up, either.

ADAM:  No, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get what he wants. This is all speculation, but maybe to get her away from Sonny he uses the information she shared. I think Nikolas is thinking that he doesn’t want to see her get hurt, and, “I cannot lose another person right now. I lost my newborn son,” in that, he is not going to raise him. And even bigger, he lost his son Spencer who he believes is gone. So, imagine then losing the love of his life. Their last interactions around New Year’s Eve showed that he still had feelings for her.

So, when you first met Maura, what was your reaction to this daytime dynamo?

ADAM: From day one, she was so lovely to me. I tested with her. I got to know her in that moment. She was just so welcoming and wanted me to succeed. Then, when I did fill in for Marcus Coloma, the first time, she and Ken Shriner (Scott) were super lovely. It was like, “You’re my scene partner today. You are Nikolas today. Let’s have fun.” Each time I came in to work, I got the same thing, if not more – more trust, more openness and kindness. Then, as you’re aware, my grandma passed right before these most recent scenes. Maura was so lovely about it. We were running lines, but she just wanted to stop and talk about it for a second. I almost didn’t want to come to work. I just wanted to get home. Maura really got me focused. It was something you wanted to get off your chest with somebody. Then we filmed, and she called me after, and just made sure I was doing alright. I said to Maura, “You are a class act, you know that. Thank you so much.”  I am so glad I didn’t have to miss the funeral and I still got to film at General Hospital, which my grandma loved to watch me on.

Now. did you have any context when you started that your on-screen mother was Genie Francis (Laura)?

ADAM: I did. In the nineties, when I was on Long Island in college and working as a DJ in the summers, I just remember seeing soap opera magazine covers. I’d see that triangle between Nikolas, Lucky and Elizabeth. So, I very much knew of the world that those people were part of. I knew how big the Luke (Tony Geary) and Laura wedding was and all of that. I definitely knew the legacy I was coming into. When I read these sides for the role, I was like, “I think this is Nikolas Cassadine!” Later, when I was on the show, and doing scenes with Genie, where Laura was warning Nikolas about making up with Spencer, she said, “You’re doing wonderful work.” To hear that from her was a big sigh of relief for me. I love connecting with actors in the eyes. I know when things are cooking when you almost feel like magnets in your eyes with another actor, because you’re drawing that emotion through them. The eyes are the windows of the soul, right? I felt that with Genie, Maura and Nicholas Chavez, too. You feel that magnet pull and it’s so beautiful.

I’m going over your gut-wrenching scenes in my head. There was obviously when Spencer hands baby Ace  to Nikolas, and then the baby is so taken with you, and the scenes where Spencer tells Nikolas how much he loved him as a young boy and vice-versa.

ADAM: The three scenes you just mentioned are highlights for me in shooting the show thus far. Those moments felt so authentic to me. As soon as Spencer got Ace in my arms, I just would melt, and it made me emotional just to hold him. And then, he really took to me. His mom was like,”I think you kind of remind him of his father,” because there is a similar energy. He’s just a great little actor and a great little empath. The moment with him laying his head on my chest was so emotional. In the one scene with Nicholas Chavez, he’s supposed to not hand me Ace till the end, but as soon as we started the scene, the baby reached out to me with this smile. Nick is like, “OK, here you go.” We sort of had to improv around it a little bit, but it was amazing.

However, then there is the scene where Spencer cries about how Nikolas meant everything to him, too.

ADAM: I think Nikolas went to Spencer with the intention of like, “I’m taking this baby no matter what. And if I have to get through my son, I’m going, too.” There was so much power in the words that those writers chose especially when Spencer goes, “You were my whole world” as a child. Nikolas was saying how I loved him fiercely as a kid. I was watching a lot of those scenes between Nicolas Bechtel (ex-Spencer) and Tyler Christopher. That kid was such a dynamo, too, and he was so cute. Their bond stuck with me.

You are one busy actor. I check in on your Instagram and you are either in one town or the other shooting a horror film or other projects.

ADAM: Not just horror films, there’s a mix of Hallmark, too. I’m super excited about an indie film I did called Pieces of Lilo. It’s about an estranged father and son. In it, my father gets sick and I get stuck basically taking care of him. And then he passes and when I’m burying him, all these memories start flooding back. It’s this sort of flashback of basically trauma and how this trauma affected, my character, Jerry, in the present day. I fought for this part and I got it. We just wrapped in March. I’m excited about that. Next week, I am off to Long Island to do a rom-com called The Wedding Bell.

Don’t you also have a role in an upcoming Melrose Place-type streaming soap?

ADAM: Oh yes. I wish it was the Melrose Place reboot! I did work with Daphne Zuniga on a Lifetime movie, though. She was awesome, and we’re friends, so who knows? It’s called The BLVD and I’ve taped it already. There’s supposedly five more episodes they’re going to shoot soon. So, we finished the pilot and I play one of the one of the clients of the PR firm. It’s all about  cutthroat PR in Hollywood.

I know the fans really enjoy you in the part of Nikolas. However, the worst thing in soaps, I think, for any actor is having to replace a very well-known actor in a part; whether they’re good, bad, or indifferent. People just don’t like change. As a recast, you have to kind of go through that difficult part of waiting to be accepted by the audience. They often say how they don’t like the actor and then somewhere along the way, they are like “Oh! I love him in the part.” How has it been for you to ride that wave of, you’re not Tyler Christopher, you’re not Marcus Coloma, but now it’s you playing Nikolas?

ADAM: I get it. You want your original person to be the person, and sometimes they just can’t, and in soap operas, it’s more common. I also know it’s always polarizing. There were days in the beginning where I was like, “Oh, my God! Look at all these wonderful comments.”  Then it’s, “Oh, my God.” and as you’re scrolling, you see “I’m a hideous monster” to these people. I think you just have to have a very healthy perspective. Thankfully, I do have tools in my life to secure my foundation of who I am. And sure, on those vulnerable days or those ambiguous days where you don’t know your future at work, it could weigh on you. You could think of every, “Oh, my God! Everybody hates me.” I am so glad and grateful that people have come around. You’re not going to please everybody. It’s just the nature of what we live in now. I will say, the warm embrace and the acceptance, and people who have really come around, has moved me and then they’re feeling the same way about my performances. When I say I’m humbled by it, I’m blown away, it’s true.  I used to get annoyed at Taylor Swift when she would always say that. I’m like, “All right, honey, you’re selling millions of copies. Accept it.” But it is humbling, because you know how critical people can be, and for it to really start to change overtime, helps me every time I hear it.

Speaking of Taylor Swift, are you a Swiftie?

ADAM: I am a Swiftie, sure. I didn’t go to Taylor’s concert. I wanted to. But then, when my friend showed me The Eras Tour on Disney Plus, I was like, “That was amazing. That was like the best time.” I’d have a smile on my face for three and a half hours if I was at her concert. So, yes.

Did you listen to Taylor’s new album, Tortured Poets Department yet?

ADAM: Yes. I’ve been bouncing around in there. There are a lot of songs.

It’s a lot of songs. It took me a little bit to warm up to it. And now, just like in true Taylor Swift fashion, I’m like, “You know what? This track or that track is really good.”

ADAM: Yeah, at first they all sound the same for a minute.

So I wonder, how does Taylor Swift manage to suck us in all the time?

ADAM: I know. I think it works whenever someone’s just raw and honest. Taylor gets a lot of flak for talking about her exes and stuff in her songs, but that’s her life experience. We feel that and we resonate with that, especially younger girls, or anyone really, can relate to these like breakups and this heartache. I think that’s where she gets you.

Hopefully soon, it’d be nice to see Nikolas not in prison orange. So, he gets out of jail and where does he go then?

ADAM: I don’t want him on the run because that’s the whole reason he came to prison, you know, to reform himself. So, for me, that was a nice sign of like, “Hey, maybe the reformation comes and you finally get to be free.” Maybe Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) gets her law degree back and then she’ll help him get out. Wyndemere’s gone. It’s out of his hands. I think it’s a good time for him to start a different life and for us to see Nikolas in different stories. Let’s see a different person trying to put his family back together and falling in love again. If it’s Ava, wonderful, would love that. I’d love to see a really great, big epic love story like he had in the past. I try to infuse that when Nikolas is sitting across from Ava. The last thing I want to say is, I wish I was there at GH more, too. However, I really trust in the process and the writers, and the way things unfold. So, I’m hoping that it all leads to a beautiful place.

What did you think about the scenes this week on GH between Ava and Nikolas? Do you hope Adam Huss is back on-screen sooner than later? What are some of your favorite scenes with him thus far? Comment below, but ICYMI, below are the touching scenes between Spencer, Ace and Nikolas that GH fans are still buzzing about.

Richard Simmons Recalls His Time On General Hospital and Meeting Tony Geary, Genie Francis, Rick Springfield and More

Fitness Guru, Richard Simmons has been recently sharing many stories about his time in Hollywood and his career on his X account as he reflects on his life and prepares his biopic.

In a string of posts, containing moments from his time on General Hospital, and meeting many of who would be his co-stars in Port Charles, Simmons opened up about how he landed on the soap in its hey day.

Simmons began by explaining that after an appearing on an ABC local morning show with Regis Philbin, he got a call two days later about GH, and things took off from there.

Richard expressed, “I met with the most powerful woman in daytime television. Gloria Monty. I also met with the head writer Pat Falken Smith. These ladies were very smart. They told me their idea. I would teach exercise classes in a disco for all the ladies on the show.” He added, “A week before taping the show the studio asked me if I could drive over and do some promotional photos. In my car I brought with me six jogging suits….My make up…some towels and five pound weights. I still could not believe I was going to be on a soap. lol.”

When he got to GH’s studio, Simmons shared, “The first person that I met was Genie Francis (Laura). Her father was Ivor Francis an actor who had been on Broadway and many TV shows. Genie was so young and innocent looking. I clicked immediately with her.

“The second person I was introduced to was Anthony Geary (Luke),” recalled Richard. “Some people called him Tony. ..but I did not. He was an actor’s actor. Mr G had curly hair like me. When he was not acting he was sitting in his dressing room learning all of his lines.  His door was always closed. One day when it was open. I asked if I could come in and sit and talk. This man won 8 daytime Emmys for playing Luke.”

“Now what can I say about Jane Elliot (Tracy)? She had an aristocratic face,” says Simmons. “One moment her character was very nice then she was the queen of mean. She allowed me to come into her room and chat while she was putting on makeup.”

Then, Richard recalled the late, great Stuart Damon (ex-Alan) and Jackie Zeman (ex-Bobbie). “I then met Prince Charming. Stuart Damon. He had been in a lot of TV shows and played Prince Charming on a special about Cinderella. Jackie Zeman was so cute. She had a pixie face.”

Simmons recalled when Rick Springfield joined the cast as Noah Drake, sharing, “While he was on the show his father passed away in Australia. I went to the news stand and bought him a bunch of magazines to read on the plane. How many times have you sung Jessie’s Girl and Don’t Talk to Strangers? When he came back from Australia he resumed his role.”

Noting his humble beginnings on GH running the aerobic classes at the Campus Disco, Richard recalled, “My first scene was in Luke’s Disco. All the nurses and other actresses were there dancing with me. I had never memorized lines before. So much was going on in my head. At the end of my scene, I heard the sound of heels clicking on the floor and everyone froze. It was Ms Monty and she was talking to me. ‘Richard the television is this big . You are talking like you are on a screen in a movie theater…bring your voice down.’ So I did.”
