So just where o’ where has the beautiful and talented Kelly Sullivan been doing since departing her role as Sage Warner on The Young and the Restless?  She has been busy with several projects, but one in particular was revealed today, and its a big one!

Sullivan is part of the core leading cast of the Tyler Perry written, directed and produced new susdy drama for TLC entitled Too Close To Home.  The series began production and principal shooting this week at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.  According to Deadline, the series is slated to premiere later this summer, and the show is the first dramatic scripted series ever on TLC.

Not only is Kelly Sullivan a part of the ensemble cast, but none other than former Melrose Place and Dynasty star Heather Lockler! Apparently, Locklear will be a guest star on the series.  Meanwhile, actress Danielle Savre will star in the central role of Anna.  Matt Battaglia is another series special guest star.

Joining Sullivan in other leading roles on the drama are: Brock O’Hurn, Brad Benedict and Brooke Anne Smith.  Series regulars will include: Alpha Trivette, Trisha Rae Stahl, Robert Craighead, Annie Thrash and Curran Walters. Ashley Love-Mills, Nick Ballard, Charles Justo, Christian Ochoa and Justin Gabriel are set in recurring roles.

In story, the eight-part drama follows Anna (Savre), a young woman who escaped her working-class upbringing in Alabama to start fresh in Washington, D.C. After making national headlines in a major political scandal involving one of the nation’s most powerful players, she is forced to return to her roots and face a past she thought she’d left behind. Seeking help and forgiveness from the same people she abandoned for a “better” life, Anna finds herself right back where she worked so hard to escape. Locklear plays Katelyn, a smart, savvy and beautiful D.C. wife.

Great news! Kelly Sullivan will make the transition from soap star to prime time (and motion picture) stardom. She deserves it!

Yes i’ll be watching it.. I loved Sage on The Y & R and i feel that she should have had a happy ending with Nick and Christian BUT I am very happy to see her keep going elsewhere. She deserves a fair chance as she’s a great actress and it would be a shame to see her talents go to waste. Congrats Kelly.. 🙂 From Canada..

Love Kelly. Hope it’s a hit!!

This is great news! Kelly is one of the best actresses I have ever seen in daytime! I was really bummed when Y&R let her go. Glad to see she landed on her feet quickly! Go Kelly go!!!

Omg, I adore her and so upset she left y&r and I will decently watch this show snd b all.of tyler’s show.

Good for her

I miss Kelly on Y&R.

Yeah, you think Y&R would have learned from GH’s mistake when THEY killed her off to! Either way, Kelly wins, congrats!

I am so happy for Kelly. She is such an amazing actress. I know she’ll do well. Her fans still miss her at Y& R. Another loss for Y & R.

I love Kelly! I wish I had cable. Hopefully
someone uploads to daily motion!

I will check it out

Finally TLC is doing something beside airing the lowest of the low reality shows– good for them, I hope everyone who supports intelligent entertainment and has TLC will watch. If the ratings are high enough perhaps TLC will up it’s game.

As for Kelly– was there any doubt she would find work. She is a talented performer and when given the right material will knock your socks off. I’m sure this will lead to even bigger and better things–

Mary,

A-M-E-N!!!!! For a long time, TLC (in terms of so-called programming) was seriously IN THE TOILET!!!!! Examples: Remember that TRULY DUMB ‘Toddlers & Tiaras’?!?!? That one was bad enough…but ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ was EVEN WORSE!!!!! On a much brighter note, Kelly Sullivan is a very talented actress who can very easily handle A-N-Y material thrown her way. TOTALLY!!!!!!!!!!!

Take care, Mary.

I – just – could not, get in to Sage… after the story didn’t bother to explore… that wonderous threesome with so much dynasty … I figured they were a family to contend

Sage, Gabriel, and Constance

whatever ! OK… I knew it wasn’t going to be ? once the story turned back to Adam

that being said… “adam” never had a family unit of his own… so it could have been

what is it about Nick…. all his lovers /wives (outside) of Sharon… die or leave town.

anyway: I love Kelly Sullivan… was holding out hope… GH would recast Connie… as… she’d be GREAT energy… for Roger Howarth and/or William DeVry.

certainly not looking good… at least with GH and Y&R… as THEY KILLED OFF both of her Characters.

Ms. Sullivan… I hope this show catches fire and strongholds.

IT”S on TLC (The Learning Channel)

Thank you Tyler Perry…. for hiring… from the best

Kelly Sullivan ; Too close to Home
Greg Vaughan; Queen Sugar @OWN

” I LOVE Kelly Sullivan “

oh well…. LOL

I forgot that nuPhyllis is still a denizen

still says something about that darned empty Nick… aimless and not driven

Emmy nominated… in both roles… go figure

This is good news. Tyler Perry keeps all his audience favorites constantly employed and it will take no time for Kelly to earn that status. I think both the daytime tptb that let her go are idiots. She is an amazing talent who deserves to be on the big screen.

I knew she would find work good actress wrong for Y&R good luck to her!

Congrats to Kelly. Not only is she a multi talented performer but a warm and genuine human being. I am so pleased for her and will look forward to seeing her in Mr. Perry’s series.

General Hospital

Lane Davies Joins the Cast of General Hospital Setting up a ‘Santa Barbara’ Reunion with Nancy Lee Grahn

Some very intriguing casting news out of General Hospital. The ABC daytime drama has cast former Santa Barbara favorite, Lane Davies (ex-Mason Capwell), in the role of Fergus Byrne, an attorney who crosses paths with Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).

According to TV Insider, Davies will make debut the week of May 22nd.  As soap fans know, together with the aforementioned Grahn, they created the Santa Barbara supercouple of Mason and Julia Wainwright. Davies portrayed Mason Capwell family from 1984 through 1989.

Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time in Port Charles for Lane. From 2002-2004 he played Dr. Cameron Lewis and also shared on-screen story with Grahn.  At that time Davies, played Xander Smith’s father.

GH fans are wondering about the last name of Davies new character, “Bryne”. If you recall, Alexis got herself involved with therapist Dr. Neil Bryne, who died when Harmony broke into Alexis‘ house and killed Neil by injecting him with opioids.

Taking to her Instagram, Grahn shared her excitement at the upcoming on-screen reunion with Davies, “It never gets old. We do 😂…. but it doesn’t 😍. Lookin’ forward to another romp.”

So, what do you think about Lane Davies returning to GH to play an attorney in Alexis’ orbit? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

One Life to Live Alum Jonathan Groff Receives 2024 Tony Award Nomination for Leading Actor in a Musical

Nominations were announced on Tuesday for the 77th annual Tony Awards by previous winners, Renée Elise Goldsberry (ex-Evangeline Williamson, One Life to Live) and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

When the dust settled it was Stereophonic (which is loosely based on the story of Fleetwood Mac) and Hell’s Kitchen (Alicia Keys musical) that both scored 13 Tony nominations to lead the pack.

However, Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along made quite the comeback and is nominated for several awards including Best Revival of a Musical and for one of its stars, Jonathan Groff (ex-Henry Mackler, One Life to Live).

Groff is nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical and will go up against Brody Grant — The Outsiders, Dorian Harewood —The Notebook, Brian d’Arcy James — Days of Wine and Roses and Eddie Redmayne — Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club.

In addition to his previous Tony nod for his role in Hamilton, Jonathan was nominated for a Lead Actor in a Musical for his role as Melchior Gabor in the original production of  Spring Awakening.

Jonathan co-stars in the revival of Merrily We Roll Along “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe and previous Tony winner Lindsay Mendez.

Back in 2019, Groff visited Live with Kelly and Ryan and discussed his debut on One Life while working at night on Broadway in Spring Awakening.

He shared on his experience on the soap, “I do remember my first day because I was doing Spring Awakening on Broadway at the time, and One Life to Live was my first time ever being on TV.  So I got this offer, and I was like, ‘Yes, I would love to be in a soap opera,’ and we finished Spring Awakening at 11:00 p.m. and I woke up the next morning at 4:0 a.m. to walk uptown to go to do One Life to Live, and I called my agent and left a message, and I said ‘You have to get me out of this, I can’t wake up at 4 o’clock in the morning!'” You can watch the clip below.

The 77th annual Tony Awards will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, June 16, with Tony and Oscar winner Ariana DeBose returning to host for the third time.

So, rooting for Jonathan to take home his long-awaited Tony Award after several decades in the theater? Do you remember him as part of teen scene on OLTL? Comment below.
