It’s a must see week of Days of our Lives with a major conclusion cliffhanger on the June 24th episode of the NBC daytime drama series. That’s the airdate that both Kate Mansi (Abigial) and Rob Scott Wilson (Ben) say goodbye to Salem and their characters of Abigail and Ben.

As viewers witnessed on the Friday, June 17th episode of DAYS, Abigail was burned in the fire at Shady Hills, which left her with burns on her hands and her arms, and her face exposed to accelerant.

When Marlena (Deidre Hall) and Chad (Billy Flynn) arrive on the scene, Chad immediately wants to see his wife. When he finally gets into see her, Abigail has a mask covering her face and has been sedated, but when she wakes up she sees another vision of Ben standing right near her bedside.  She insists to Chad that Ben is there, but there is no Ben once Abby glances over to the foot of her bed a second time.  With no one believing her, Dr. Robison sedates her again.

Later, Shawn (Brandon Beemer) reveals to Chad that the police investigation has discovered that it was Abigail who started the fire.  Chad is overcome and beside himself with worry.  That sets the stage for next week on DAYS.  In the latest promo from NBC, Abigail looks like she is about to escape Shady Hills once and for all through a window and leave everyone behind.  Will she be able to do it that way?

After the jump, watch the promo featuring Kate Mansi’s final week of airshows and then let us know  … what you think of how DAYS is crafting the exit of the popular character of Abby so they can bring her back as nuAbby now being played by Marci Miller? Are you sad to see Kate and Rob leave the canvas? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

I think that the hospital’s name is Shady Hills. Isn’t Shady Pines the rest home that Sophia lived in on “The Golden Girls”? Anyway, I’ll miss Kate Mansi. She’s one of the few bright spots on DOOL right now.

Yeah Shady Pines is from Golden Girls. I will miss Kate and Robert for sure.

You are correct, PF. Abby is a patient at Shady Hills. I Googled Shady Pines which is featured in The Golden Girls.

A very unimaginative way to take Kate out–and, yes, her story was a highlight and one of the reasons I started watching Days again-along with Patch and Kayla’s story–both stories are stagnant now–and I can take or leave Days now on any given day. Sigh! 🙁

Hey, PF.
Your comment is soooo hilarious, I could not concentate after your first sentence. I am still cackling like a looney-toone. It just hit my funny bone!!!!!
Yes, I will mis Kate….buona fortuna…..

I quit watching Days after Will Horton’s murder, so I don’t know what the rest home is called. But you are right: Shady Pines is where Sophia had lived on “The Golden Girls.” As soon as I read that name in this article, I heard Bea Arthur (may she rest in peace) threatening in her booming voice: “Shady Pines, Ma, Shady Pines!”

LOL, sonniorsolita. The inference between Sofia and Dorothy is sooo bittersweet, but hilarious.
I agree, Dool recent stories are neither here nor there. Kate’s sendoff should have been ‘handled’ with much more sensitivity. Abby is coming back; therefore, why not pave a cleaner and ‘saner’ path?
Then, there’s Rafe and Hope. What I would say to Rafe is: ‘Good riddance’ ! Who needs that fickle woman…damsel in distress, in constant comfort and need. She’s a grandmother, for Petey’s sake. Act like one!!
Then there’s Ciara! OMG!!! Cannot tolerate this girl’s mumbled words, hushed nasal tones, barely moving her lips. Worse than Sam (GH).

yes shady pines is the home Sophia lived in on the Golden Girls

Abigail will probably return with a new face because of the fire and have a different identity due to amnesia or she will come to Salem without amnesia but wont reveal herself because of her Ben fears or she will reveal herself but no one at first believes she is Abby…or newface Abby arrives at the hospital with amnesia not knowing who she is…she cant explain what drawn her to Salem…then a mysterious man named Nelson Riddle arrives in town claiming to be her husband…he had found burn face Abby who was in another accident and developed amnesia…he knows who she is but doesnt tell her…he gets her a new face that resembles his late wife Phoebe and convinces her they are married…he accidentally killed his real wife, and buried her in the woods without telling her wealthy widowed father Winston Grimes…Phoebe is set to inherit her dieing ffather’s vast fortune and Nelson is determined to get that loot and then kill Phoebe/Abby…but when Chad runs into the couple will he realize Phoebe is his missing wife Abigail Dimera?…ok, i made this up-lol

Yes, I’m sure that’s what TPTB have in mind–a new face; how (not!) original is that?1

I know…right.

Hey, that’s GOOD–I really like your storyline! Wish they writers paid attention to you! Great imagination!

You know I am your greatest fan, Jimmy. Always have been.
I absolutely love your “for instance”, or “let’s assume”. They all make better sense than the fare we are getting lately. Well, for some time, now. They killed the show when they killed Will.
Nonetheless; what I don’t understand is why resurrect Aidan . He is a bad guy who is using both Hope and Ciara. Of course, Hope is too stupid to notice. She is so full of herself, she believes his compliments and declaration of love. She’s a cop. Shouldn’t her keen, trained senses tell her otherwise?
Well, not only is he Andre’s peon; Aidan has an agenda of his own. I do believe he will somehow make Ciara change her rape story. How? It’s a soap…they’ll think of something. Oh, yeah….something like ” I never said NO! I thought I did….”.
If that happens, that will be it !! Why is it that women always have to prove themselves? I would not appreciate being in that predicament, albeit I do appreciate the horror women experience at the hands of these animals.
Sorry…I got carried away …..,

you said it aiden should of stayed death why bring him backwhy

PS.
I hope I’m the stupid one and Hope is on to Aidan …..following her instinct.

Im not liking Aiden’s return so far…its not what i thought it would be…

I will definitely miss Kate Mansi and Rob Wilson. It sucks that Days has lost so many great actors.

Been watching DOOL since the beginning.. a long, long time. I wasn’t quite sure about Kate Mansi when she first started, but she grew on me, with better writing, her acting excelled. Ben was always ambiguous, sweet with a dark side. I did not like when DOOL allowed him to take her baby wile setting her bed on fire…way too violent for daytime TV! Yet appreciated the intense acting of Ben and Abby’s characters. Good luck to both actors!

I am going to miss Kate Mansi and Rob Scott Wilson so very much. Both have done outstanding work in the Salem Strangler and Descent into Madness stories. I wish both of them tremendous success in the future.

I prefer the recasting of an actor to be done with the simple announcement, “The role of …..is now being played by…. “. It’s not necessary to contrive a silly plot point to explain the switch. That said, I am sad to see Kate leave the show.

Agreed!

I hear you, Mister! I think we in the audience understand the nature of serialized drama to accept the convention of actor replacements for in the short and long term. We do not always need a dramatic plot point for an exit or entrance.

no more spoiled brats days ok.

This storyline shows exactly what is wrong with Days. They had a hot threesome they could have focused on for years much like B&B does with Ridge, Brooke and person x but they chose to blow it up by making Ben a killer. Yes, it worked the Ben storyline scenes were well acted and suspenseful and afterward we were left with i Chad and Abby. fans can accept it. Days knew Kate Mansi, their best heroine was leaving for months and instead of giving the fans what they wanted, a payoff of weeks of romance with a happy Abby and Chad they get this nonsense and a stupid fire plastic surgery plot. Days is its worse enemy. When was the last time you saw a truly happy couple on the show for any length of time. They bring back Higley who is overlooking other talented writers on the show. HIgley is of course, the kiss of death, and she immediately does her own agenda – out Belle, in Chloe. John and Marlena just like its 1981 again. Rope is forced on us because someone clearly loves Galen even though Rope has zero chemistry. Its time to pull the plug on the show. Sorry, its just not worth saving.

I still don’t know why Abby has a baby and is Married at her age. Abby and Chad should be causing all kinds of Trouble around town.

Really? I was married right after College and had a baby a year later. Kate and I are about the same age and Billy is 30 something. Young, but not so young! LOL.
I would think Abby caused enough trouble with EJ and Sami.
Sadly, she is leaving….just when her performances have been sooo stellar….sooo unequaled. I hope
Doors should be opening left and right for her….she is that good and then dome.

Oh, Lord..And then some…lol

Geez is this the OLDEST soap-opera trick in the book or WHAT? Forty years ago, or more, the character of Larry Worleck on One Life to Live was played by Michael Storm who took over the role from his real-life actor brother. They bandaged up his face and explained that some cosmetic modification had occurred. It has since been done on soaps SOOO many times. Will they explain her new vocal inflections as well?
Oh well, not terribly original but this show drags along anyway.

It has been good writing for her storyline. I am anxious to find out where they will go with it. I love a a good storyline that I don’t see coming and Days has def done that. Not always the Best Storylines but more original than others…. Thanks!!

I will miss Kate and Robert. They are great actors and it has been so good to watch them play their characters.Their storyline of love, beytrayal, hurt and all out craziness has being so exciting to watch.Ben and Abigail craziness tops EJ and Sami’s crazy antics. The difference being EJ/Sami were not certified… insane.Kate Mansi has left her mark as Abigail. She will be missed. As far as Robert I am hoping he make his way back to Days again. He has been so good on the show.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Favorites Making Returns: Alison Sweeney, Christie Clark, Chandler Massey and Bryan Dattilo

Great news for Days of Our Lives fans, now that Ryan Quan is co-head writer of the long-running soap opera. Coming in June of 2027 (since DAYS tapes ten or so months ahead), you can look forward to the returns of Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady), Christie Clark (Carrie Brady), Chandler Massey (Will Horton) and Bryan Dattilo (Lucas Horton).

The foursome is back on set and began last week to tape their upcoming story arc, according to TV Insider. As to what exactly is going on that brings sister Sami and Carrie’s history back up, as well as Will and Lucas’ is only being teased at this time, but suffice to say, it should be intriguing.

Alison Sweeney explained on being back on set, “It was a lot of dialogue and emotion, but with all the best actors to work opposite, we fell into it as if no time had passed. It was really wonderful.”

As to working with the longstanding rivalry of Sami and Carrie, Alison added on working with Clark, “So, it really does feel like we’re sisters. It’s so fun, and she’s such a good actor that she makes everything so natural that you can really disappear into those stories.”

JUST LIKE OLD TIMES

It also seems like the deep-history, which often had the sister fighting for the love of Austin Reed, but that might not figure into the equation this time, or will it?

Alison indicated what she thought of the scripts she was given. “I felt like when I read it, it was a page-turner. I was very excited. There’s a lot of history here, and a lot of things that haven’t been said. So, it’s really not like, ‘Oh, rehashing stuff.’ And now having played some of the scenes, I’m psyched.” Sweeney added, as for the men, working again with her on-screen son, Chandler Massey and Will’s on-screen father Bryan Dattilo, was also extra special.

The last time DAYS viewers saw Sami on the canvas was back in November of 2025, when she revealed she has gotten engaged to never-before-seen Dante Vitali. As for Clark, she last visited Salem for the episodes surrounding John Black’s memorial in June of 2025.

Chandler Massey’s Will Horton last made a visit to Salem in November of 2025 when he attended the gala for the Tom Horton Free Clinic as part of the soap opera’s 60th anniversary celebration. Bryan Dattilo was last seen in December of 2025. So, by the time we see all four again it will be close to two years since they were on new episodes of the series. Time to look forward to June of 2027.

So, excited by the news of Alison, Christie, Chandler and Lucas making a return to Days of Our Lives? What do you think the story will be involving, Sami, Carrie, Lucas and Will? Let us know via the comment section.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Alum Al Calderon Talks On His Daytime Emmy-Nominated Scenes as Javi Hernandez (Exclusive)

Last Tuesday, Al Calderon scored the first Emmy nomination of his career for his role as Javi Hernandez on Days of Our Lives.

Calderon name was announced as one of the performers competing for gold in the Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series category at the upcoming 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards on October 30.

This week, Calderon chatted live on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel for a one-on-one conversation where he discussed: his nominated scenes and time on the Peacock streaming soap opera, his decision to leave DAYS, his role of Nico Silva on Brilliant Minds and its sad cancellation, plus his passing the torch of Javi to Jacob Martinez, who took over the role on-screen on the June 30, 2026 episode of Days of Our Lives.

JAVI REVEALS TO LEO THAT HE HAD A DAUGHTER WHO DIED

Al revealed the scenes that comprise his now Emmy-nominated reel have at its epicenter the heartbreaking moments from the September 12, 2025 episode. In it, Javi shares for the first time to Leo (Greg Rikaart) that he had a daughter named Solana, with a woman he was seeing named Sylvia. One fateful day, Sylvia left their child in a car when she went to work and the little girl died. Javi had blamed himself for not being the parent to take his daughter to school that day since he was hungover the night before, therefore it opened up the opportunity for something to happen to the his child, and it did.

The multi-talented actor/singer explained his reel: “It was the scene where he is talking about his daughter to Leo. I also included the scene where Javi goes to talk to Melinda (Tina Huang) and to see if it would be a viable option to adopt, because I wanted to introduce the subtlety and nuance of why Javi kind of has this whole connection to Tesoro, in a way.”

It is true that Al can bring the tears and make us cry right along with him during his run as Javi.  To that, Calderon added, “I’ve read the comments that I’m a little bit of a crybaby, so I didn’t want the entire reel to be of me crying, but I wanted it to show a little bit of an emotional range of the restraint that Javi was feeling so I included that scene

In addition Calderon shared, “I also included a really beautiful scene with Cherie Jimenez (Gabi Hernandez, DAYS) where I’m looking at photos of Tesoro, and of course, Javi is crying. I just wanted to show the relationship between Javi and his family as well, and as I mentioned the reveal of the child that he lost.”

Alice Halsey

ALUMS AL CALDERON AND ALICE HALSEY REPRESENT DAYS OF OUR LIVES IN EMERGING TALENT CATEGORY

In a twist of fate, Calderon is also nominated in the Emerging Talent category with Alice Halsey who played Rachel Black. Halsey is currently starring in the reboot of Little House on the Prairie in the lead role of Laura Ingalls on Netflix.

As to his hope on Emmy night, Al expressed, “Of course, I want to win, but Alice Halsey is going to give me a run for the money. And if’s not me (who wins the award), it better be her!”

You can check out the full interview with Al below.

Now let us know, do you remember Al’s emotional scenes when he explained to Leo he had a daughter who died, which made it all the more heartbreaking to not end up with permanent custody of Tesoro? What do you think of Al’s chances to win the gold based on his Emmy scene selection? Do you miss him as Javi? Weigh-in via the comment section.

Emily O'Brien

On the latest edition of Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart which dropped on Tuesday, July 21, Emily O’Brien is the featured guest. As soap fans know, Emily has worked with Rikaart both in her first soap role on The Young and the Restless as Jana Hawkes and now on Days of Our Lives in her current role of Gwen Rizczech.

While Emily continues on DAYS, she has very impressive list of credits in the other part of her career as a voice-over actress and one in motion-capture in some of the most popular video games in the world.

O’Brien was first seen on The Young and the Restless back in 2006. She recalled her landing the role which eventually paired her for her five year run with Greg Rikaart.

BEING CAST ON THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS

“The role was just a few days and she wasn’t even supposed to be English,” Emily recalled. “The role was originally called Jade. Karen Rae, the casting director of The Young and the Restless at the time said to me “Oh, you’re from England. Try it with the dialect.” I put it on and she said, ‘I’m going to bring you back at like 3 for s callback.’ So then they changed the role to Jana and they said she’s going to be a Brit. I was only supposed to be on for like five episodes and it turned into 5 years.”

In explaining why she loved crazy Jana, Emily shared, “Jana was sort of like the misanthrope. She was just was the odd one out and I loved it. I felt so comfortable playing that because she was just eclectic and weird and she loved playing with Ouija boards and she rode a motorbike. There was just so much color to bring to her. It was just such a great match to play with Greg (Kevin), and Christian LeBlanc (Michael) and Tracey Bregman (Lauren).

GWEN, DIMITRI AND LEO ON DAYS OF OUR LIVES

On Days of Our Lives, the Leo, Gwen, Dimitri dynamic is quite unique and been through many schemes and entanglements. Often Emily finds herself in repartee with her ex-lover, Dimitri, who turned out to be gay and then had a thing for her bestie, Leo (Greg Rikaart)!

During the conversation, Greg and Emily sang, Peter Porte’s praised with O’Brien expressing, “Peter is just ready to play. He comes on set prepared. I’ve never seen him with his script. From blocking and rehearsals, he doesn’t have it. He’s prepared. He’s a physical actor and he always trying to come up with something. I think he let me slap him. He let me kiss him. He let me throw a cheeseburger in his lap. He’s ready for anything for anything.”

You can catch the full episode of ‘Soapy; featuring Emily O’Brien below where the actress also talks about replacing Jen Lilley as Theresa Donovan after being let go as Gwen; and being paired again with Greg Rikaart on the Peacock streaming soap opera this time as best friends and more.
