Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes Temporarily Taken Off ‘GMA3’ As Network Figures Out Plan Of Action
Due to the firestorm surrounding GMA3 anchors, Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, ABC announced on Monday morning via an editorial call that the two have been benched and are for now being taken off the show.
The move was announced by ABC News president, Kim Godwin. This comes on the heels of the Daily Mail revealing a personal and romantic relationship between the two anchors.
According to reports, their relationship surprised many at ABC News, while others were suspicious for a long time. Both Holmes and Robach are married, though they have each separated from their partners. Robach had been married to former Melrose Place star, Andrew Shue.
On the call this morning, Godwin shared: “I want to say that while the relationship is not a violation of company policy, I really have taken the last few days to think about and work through what I think is best for the ABC organization. These decisions are not easy, they are not knee jerk, but they are necessary for the brand and for our priority which, you guys know, are all of is … the people here at ABC.”
Last week when the story surfaced, Robach and Holmes anchored GMA3 and did not address the situation on- air. However, Godwin is noting that a some kind of more formal action could be taken since the network was blindsided by the unexpected reveal of their relationship.
Look for Gio Benitez and Stephanie Ramos to take over the third hour of GMA for now. The Hollywood Reporter first reported this portion of the story.
What do you think about ABC’s action to take Robach and Holmes off the GMA3 for now? Comment below.
I don’t feel they should lose their jobs, but do agree with what others have observed about their on camera behavior being a bit of a distraction. They both were making remarks in response to general discussions on the show, TJ especially, that the viewer knew referred to issues resulting from their off camera relationship. Perhaps they need to be reassigned to other positions in the network, or remove one of them from the show.I believe that Amy was there first & TJ joined shortly afterwards.
I am not judging them; it’s an extremely sensitive subject since there are spouses & children involved.
The network is hurting them selfs they said they were consenting adults on same level. Then they take them off for what? If they had visited some rules that should have been stated clearly from a contract specified area.So I hope they leave the network and can get a better job.The network can just put them back on with an on air apology from the network president.and complete back Pau a raise would be great.
If they came out to the company I’m not sure what the problem is. I love these two. Boooooooo!
Having affairs on their married spouse?? That’s the problem.they lied about it also when confronted. I guess robin doesn’t want him on gma anymore.
I love the show but if they take those 2 off I want watch
Just my opinion they made the show worth watching
Nobody’ s business! Love them both!
It’s stupid I haven’t watched the show since they were removed. I truleymiss them and won’t go back till they are back
They were wonderful along with Dr. Jen, a shame such a great show with such a great dynamic is hindered like this–but yes, they could have been more graceful in their personal choices and the timing, surely. I bet TJ and Amy will resurface elsewhere and maybe together on air.
Adding that I noticed on today’s show they were still announced as hosts, and that the guest hosts announced they were off today. And Dr. Jen was there. The network has not closed the door on them; I am wondering if TJ and Amy make a public statement if that will be sufficient for them to be “reinstated.” I hope it will.
I think this is ridiculous! Who the H are any of us to judge this? Does it effect their on-air job performances? I haven’t seen it if it has. Their personal lives didn’t need to be blown up by the gossips. That was just “mean, mean, mean,” in the words of Susan Banks (DAYS). This “benching” is just further validating the power of gossips. Shame on ABC for allowing that.
I’m not advocating having affairs, but that should be between them and their spouses to work out, not the rest of America.
They lied about when confronted.tjey deserve no mercy. Trust me I know what their spouses are going through.
Oh no, they tried to keep their private life a secret? Who cares. They were both separated it says as well.
I agree with Rodd. This is so ridiculous!!! Their on-air performance has not been affected! The ratings are up!They work great together. Who are We To Judge? Just bunch of mean spirited people out there who don’t have nothing better to do!! Please bring Amy Robach and TJ Holmes bach soon
I totally agree with this statement.
Totally agree with you and love that you used Susan Banks saying.. lol
Totally agree….who are we to judge what happen in their private lives???? ABC needs to reconsider the action taken….it’s not the first time relationships have developed on ABC showes…ie… Kathie Lee/Frank Gifford….please bring them back and everyone go on with their own lives….there are tooooo many other issues going on to worry about love lives….
I agree with Todd’s Statement.
Agree. They are true professionals and this is ridiculous removing them at all. Bring them back soon please or you will lose viewers for sure. Thank you!
I will NOT BE WATCHING!!! Though they could have handled things differently, they make the programming fun and lively. Sorry, I AM GONE UNTIL THEY RETURN!!!
I agree!
It seems most shows that fill this time slot (at least on the West coast) are doomed in one way or another. THE CHEW lasted a while but I can’t help wondering if anyone regrets removing ALL MY CHILDREN or OLTL from the lineup. Constantly creating and promoting new shows has to be costly…was it really worth dismantling decades-old legacy shows for pop culture fixes?
ABC’s plan of action should be to cancel GMA3 which is not a good intro to GH with its 1.5M viewers. GH has 2.3M viewers and should have a better ratings lead-in. Anyone remember OLTL and AMC. Both had 3M viewers when they were cancelled.
They are the reason I watch. Yes they have chemistry which is what made it enjoyable to watch. What they do in their personal lives should be their business and they should not be punished so long as they can stay professional while on the show!!!
What’s the big deal? Can’t anyone be happy without someone butting in?
I’m not watching neither show until they return
Amy is the best with doc Jen. I will not watch 3rd hour now- bring her back! So what if they are in a relationship? Amy was there before TJ, so, reassign him to another hour.
There is nothing wrong what they are doing. The are both separated from their other partners and life goes on. Happy for them
TJ and Amy having an affair does not affect my life in any way. They are excellent reporters and that’s what should matter to the station. If they loose their jobs with ABC, that would be the crime.
I agree. Bring them both back. They work great together. The ratings make the difference. So GM3 needs them back!
Love TJ especially on Gma imo it’s a private thing. They should not lose their jobs over this. Ridiculous.
Well I think it’s ridiculous to not have Amy or TJ on together, what difference does it make if they care about each other. Look how many presidents have had affairs etc. and many stars have affairs. I; think they do a great job on the show. Keep them together. They laugh, and communicate well. They make you laugh and smile. How am any people that work for channel 9 have had affairs. Hope you keep them together. Life is too short for all this shit !!!!!!!!!
Don’t like the change. Bring back Robach and Holmes.
These people making such a big deal over two grown, consenting adults! No one was sexually harassed or intimidated. The viewers have nothing to do with their personal lives. Can you imagine the stuff that goes on with all the romancing done on the Soaps. I wouldn’t be surprised how many couples get into trouble, maybe having affairs due to the close contact on set.
I think they should stay on GMA3 they are two consenting adults this is 2022 not 1922
They are both adults what they did might be wrong but it shouldn’t effect their jobs their both good maybe just separate them but don’t fire them.
Mine your own business, they are over twenty one , they owe no one a explanation if they are both single. If not that is who they have to answer to, not some intern,s, family, friends or a employer. Now if there was something there contact of no messing around with other employees, well that would be a legal mater. There is a enough stuff in this world going on right now to keep all people occupied. People like to start shit and stir the pot, to those people get another hobby, you have to much time on your hands, stay busy, not good to have a idol mine. It can get you in trouble. I hope to see them back on the air, they are a good team they do complement each other. You know do not realize at you have until it is gone, Disney, should think about that.
Leave them alone and let them get back to work.
They are both great host. If you don’t have a policy about couples working together then bring them back if you do reassign one or both but get them back on GMA
I believe it is no one business what goes on in your personal life unless it is murder. I loved this show…it was always fun and enjoyable and truly everyone joined in the fun. Bring them back and do not get in their personal life.
♀️ really!!! Two adults did nothing wrong. Amy is best gma has seen in a long time. Put her back on!!!!
Bring Amy and TJ back!!! Come down off your high horses!!!! It’s not you’re business what they do in their personal lives nor any of ours. They are great together whether it be on or off screen!!!!
Will never watch if they are taken off the show
They did not commit a crime. We may not like what they did, but they are consenting adults. I feel for the spouses and children, but they will have to deal with it. MSNBC kept Joe and Meka. Who are we to judge? Bring them back.
There jobs should have nothing to do with their personal lives. Let them keep their jobs and everyone else mind their own business
I don’t think abc should be judging them for anything. With what is acceptable in our society how dare they to bench them for this.
If abc takes them off the air . I will quit watching. When they added Tj the show was much better and him and Amy have a great chemistry on the air. They are grown adults and they do in their personal life should not be anyones business.
Am with you! Screw GMAC. I will never watch there show again. I loved those two together.
Cheaters. Disrespectful to family members and coworkers. I was a fan of Amy, followed her on instagram. I’m so disappointed.
I think as long as it doesn’t negatively affect their performance on gma3, I see no problem with them having a relationship.
They continue to do a good job. Falling in love is not a crime. They fall in love on the right time when both marriages are no longer working. It’s not that they break each others family, they’re former families is already broken. Let them do their job and maybe, ABC will get a more higher rating. If ABC gets rid of this two, expect a lawsuit!!!!!!
Leave their personal life alone. They are awesome on the show and that’s all that matters. I will not watch the show until they are back on
It spiraled out of control. They should have not hid the fact they were involved. If they were open and explained to the public what was going on in each of their marriages. People would have been more accepting of the affair. The perception is they cheated on their partners. That is why people are having a difficult time with all of this.
Let them be. They are great together on that show. That’s why I watch it. . They were separated since August so they did nothing wrong.
They are professionals on air let their private life stay private
I don’t think this was a surprise .you could tell they were a item. Not news happens all the time. My opinion is if there is anything in their contract about a situation like this could be a reason to be terminated then let them go. Otherwise just either let them have the show or offer them other programs.
Too many people have too much to say about other people and how they live their lives. Live your life I’m certain there’s more than enough drama there for you to manage. Taking jobs away because people don’t think and live the way you want is ridiculous. Their role does not impact anyones life or lively hood. Do you.
Omg I love them there’s a lot worse stuff in this world and they r fantastic anchors put them back!!!!!
You both should sued them!
Their private life is their business–there was no violation to company policy so why did they loose their jobs?
They are in the public’s eye reporting news. They are NOT in the public’s reporting their private lives. They both are very good at what they do professionally so let them do it. What is meant to be is meant to be. They don’t deserve to loose their jobs.
It’s none of our business. They didn’t break their contract. Let them and live their lives. In todays world we have so many other things to worry about. I honestly won’t watch the show if they don’t go back
I think they should not do anything they are both great at what they do and i love them both
If they don’t come back, I will definitely stop watching GMA3! Love them!
Too… many other things to deal with in this world. Just trying to survive day by day. Adults know what they’re doing. We should concentrate on people who are suffering every day.
It’s odd that some people pay a price for their actions while others like Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, Kaley Cuoco, Justin Hartley, and others make a mockery of marriage by falling into “real love” every six months with whoever and are still in good favor with the media. I wonder who decides these things.
It’s ridiculous to take them off the air. They had already sorted their private lives by leaving their current spouse. It was already taken care of. It actually would be interesting like the show she said he said. Besides I can bet you anything I’m sure they are not the only ones having an affair within the Network. I think who ever decided to let them go where being hypocrites.
Let it go! Bring them back they are the best thing to happen to GMA 3. The show won’t make it without them. Stay out of their personal life it’s theirs and nobody else’s business.
I think their actions with each other on air are deplorable.
It’s like rubbing salt in the wounds of their spouses!
TJ, it’s a pattern with him, too good for his britches, re assign them both to other areas so we, the Public don’t have to look at the Cheaters! Blatant, right in front of your noses!
They don’t deserve their jobs, no Morals at all.
I like them on the show. I watch the show because of them. I don’t care what they do in their personal lives. Not my business. Please bring them back.
