Another World’s Carmen Duncan Passes Away From Cancer At 76

Photo: IMDB/Australian

Heartbreaking news this morning out of Australia.  Carmen Duncan, who played Iris Wheeler on Another World from 1988-1994 has died from cancer.  The Australian-born actress was 76.

Duncan had been receiving care at St Vincent’s Sacred Heart Health Service in Sydney.  In Carmen’s publicized and harrowing health journey, she had previously beat cancer three times.

An accomplished actress in a career in TV and film for films for over 60 years, Duncan appeared on  All Saints and in Bay City on NBC’s Another World, where she has taken over the part of Iris from Beverlee McKinsey, who has played the central role from 1972-1981.

Carmen received a Daytime Emmy nomination for her work, before family lured her home to Australia.  She once said: “Despite the glitter and glamour of working in Hollywood and New York, I genuinely missed my family, my brothers and my baby sister Paula, which is why I called it quits and returned to Australia in the late ’90s.”

Carmen is survived by her two children, Duncan and Amelia.

Share your condolences and remembrances on Carmen via the comment section below.  But first check out this retro clip from Another World featuring Carmen as Iris opposite her on-sceen nemesis, Victoria Wyndham as Rachel.

So sad. I can still remember her scenes when she begged Mac, “daddy”, to forgive her for trying to take over Cory Publishing.

She played Iris differently that Beverly and in turn made it her own. She was stubborn, venerable, fierce and strong.

Along with Another World, she will be missed. Prayers to her family.

Didnt like her as Iris at first and wanted Judith McConnel in the role but i think she was doing Santa Barbra at the time…but she grew on me and won me over…thought it would be great to see her and Rachel constantly battle over Cory over the years…

They don’t write scenes like that any longer. Carmen proved you can recast a role with great success. When AW was cancelled I always hoped Victoria would play Alexandra on GL.

What a powerhouse actress! She took over a very pivotal role on “Another World” from another powerhouse actress and put her own stamp on it. I am saddened to hear of her passing after her courageous battle with cancer. She was truly inspirational. Godspeed, Carmen.

I’ve always like Carmen Duncan as Iris in the Another World episodes, youtube is a great way to watch these epic characters/actors and shows. She definitely held her own, it can be easy following the amazing Beverlee McKinsey.

GMA Hosts T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach’s Romantic Relationship Comes To Light

Over the last 24 hours, photos surfaced that showed that Good Morning America anchors, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach are more than just friends or co-workers.

The Daily Mall published images of Holmes and Robach holding hands during a trip to upstate New York, and later being cozy in a bar in the Big Apple. The outlet reported that Holmes and Robach had their relationship-turn-romantic back in June and had allegedly left their spouses in August.

Just hours after their relationship went public, both T.J. and Amy deactivated their Instagram accounts.  On Thursday, Robach’s husband, former Melrose Place star, Andrew Shue deleted all photos of Robach from his Instagram account.

Page Six earlier reported that Holmes, who had been married to Marilee Fiebig since 2010, had been having an alleged affair. They report that Robach and Holmes started to get close back in March when they were training together for the New York City Half Marathon.

When Holmes was going to join GMA back in 2014, the producers asked Robach what she thought of having him on the show.  Amy shared with PEOPLE : “Hey, we want to bring on a co-anchor. What do you think of T.J. Holmes?’ And I almost fell out of my chair. You couldn’t have picked a better person to ask me what I thought of, because we’ve been trying to figure out a way to work together for literally the last five years.”

As fate would have it, the two were also anchoring today’s GMA 3 where they made no mention of what was going on behind the scenes and in their personal lives.

So, what do you think about T.J and Amy’s relationship being revealed, and how it was made public? Comment below.
