I think Reid & Luke are the real thing. Noah still acts like a best friend. He can be the loving friend, who lives in LA.

Nuke/Schmuke. There’s more fire between Luke and Reid than any other couple on the show, and more than there ever was during the ackward puppy-love scenes between Luke and Noah. Hats off to Eric Sheffer Stevens for his fearless portrayal of Reid Oliver and to Van Hansis for stepping up his game.

I like Luke and Reid together, eventhough Noah is Luke first love, but he always made Luke sad, and everytime when something is wrong, Noah will always need a break or space. It time he don’t take Luke for granted

Luke and Reid – no question! They are hot, hot, hot! Luke and Noah were juvenile and boring…LuRe is spicy and mature! I hope the writers are listening….

I love Nuke but I cannot deny how much intensity and attraction exists between Luke and Reid. I’m hoping they at least explore whatever is between them before and if Luke returns to Noah.

I started out as a NUKE fan fair enough, but towards where Noah got hurt the relationship sorta died. When Dr. O turned up, skeptical at first but. I honestly think and hope that Luke will go with the good Doc, cos Noah. First love, first time, but in all honesty Luke needs a grown up adult relationship and Dr. O is willing to give that to him. I’m loving the story line! For once, I can hardly wait for it to come on, I’ve never been so over excited about a soap in my entire life!! I just hope… Read more »

Luke and Reid are made for each other. Noah was the first love, but also the only one Luke has ever been with and their differences as they get older show. They just are not compatible and Noah is a complete bore and treats Luke like crap. Reid Oliver is a breath of fresh air and he and Luke could be very good for each other. They are both alike and not alike but their differences complement each other.

Luke needs to be with Reid! The chemistry between them is amazing! Noah was a great young love/first boyfriend, but lately with his pushing Luke away and blaming him for his blindness, there’s no question in my mind that Luke needs to get out of that toxic relationship. He needs someone who will treat him right even when things are difficult. Pick Reid, Luke!

Your first love isn’t necessarily your last, or your greatest for that matter. Luke and Noah was a wonderful late teen/early adult love story, and that should never be forgotten. But the characters have moved beyond each other, and to continue to hold Luke to Noah and a relationship that he’s obviously outgrown would be a mistake, in my opinion. Luke is fostering something amazing, refreshing and *mature* with Reid, and as a result, we’re starting to see the Luke we used to know and love – funny, sexy, hot-headed, snarky and always full of heart – instead of the… Read more »

Definitely Luke & Reid should be together. The last couple of years of the relationship between Noah & Luke they seemed like best friends, not lovers. They were cute together, but cuteness only goes so far. Luke became clingy & needy & had no life if Noah didn’t pay him any attention. With Reid he’s becoming his own person & growing up. I think the main reason he was with Noah was because Noah depended on him for a place to live & money & he had no family. Luke needs someone who is his equal so he can be… Read more »

I feel that Luke does love Noah, but he is not in love with him. He is in love with Reid. Luke and Reid have True Love, and True Love is REAL LOVE. I wish they would go ahead and say it to each other. Reid is trying so hard not to get hurt. When he and Luke converse, I feel that he is trying to get Luke to tell him how he really feels, but they keep beating around the bush, instead of saying how they really feel. They both are difinitely in love.

Luke and Reid are amazing together and I never thought I would say that. I love the looks, the not so subtle tension, and the heat they have. Reid is tough and yet so vulnerable when it comes to Luke. Luke just needs to make a choice and stick to it. Reid doesn’t want Luke hurt and doesn’t want to pressure him in any way. It’s all so bittersweet to think it’s coming to an end. All of ATWT turns will be sadly missed. Thanks to all the actors and especially to Van, Eric and Jake. Excellent actors all three!

I think Luke and Reid are good for each other in every way. When Luke was with Noah Luke was always crying about something Noah said or did whereas with Reid, Luke was more like himself talking back and not crying about it. So what if Noah was Luke’s first love. Who says people always end up with their first love. Look at Katie, Lisa, Allison they all had first love but there is always something or someone better out there. I want Noah to be happy too, he had told Luke that he wanted to be more independent now… Read more »

It has to end out with Luke and Ried, as most has comment above, they just fit together in all ways and if Noah has to live his dream out and make movies, he has to leave to California or maybe New York. Luke has his company/trustfond to take care of in Oakdale I can’t se how they will manage to stay together.
Ried has also commited him self to stay in Oakdale forever if he want to stay number one in his field and that’s perfect for Luke.

Luke is hopelessly loyal and of course he loves Noah, but no longer the way you would a lover. I think Luke is at a point of no return with Reid. He just has to see where this can go and they should have that chance. Noah has had his run of it and everything he’ll do now is a little too late. Luke and Reid endgame!

i just love reid!
he’s so perfect and so cute when he talks to luke.. (well.. a bit.. behind the “i’m the best, you’re nothing”-talk :p)
i want luke and reid to be together…
noah has done too much shit in the last time.
i know luke did the same thing but.. i don’t like noah anymore..

This week Reid managed a coup. Bob played into his hands giving Luke the news about an ultamatum he issued Reid. Now Luke storms off feeling he is second best in Reid’s life–much like the case when Luke chose Noah over Reid only mere weeks ago. Finally they can face each other on a more even level. Don’t expect Reid to stay away from Luke two months though, he can barely stand to be away from him for two days having developed a dull ache with Luke’s name on it. Great writing, terrific acting!

As the World Turns Castmates Mourn the Loss of Elizabeth Hubbard

UPDATED: Monday, the soap world was saddened by the loss of one of the most respected actress ever in the genre, when the news broke of the death of Daytime Emmy-winner, Elizabeth Hubbard.

This powerhouse performer who was best known for her work as Dr. Althea Davis on The Doctors, and as Lucinda Walsh on As the World Turns, died this past Saturday at her home in Connecticut from cancer.

Throughout this afternoon, several of Hubbard’s former As the World Turns castmates took to social media to share their reactions on the passing of this beloved daytime icon.  In addition, Retro TV, which has been airing vintage episodes of The Doctors, also paid tribute to Hubbard.

Photo: CBS

Martha Byrne (ex-Lily, ATWT) shared on her Instagram: As many of you are finding out this morning, Elizabeth Hubbard passed away. First and foremost I want everyone to know I made sure she was aware of how much everyone loved her. I would share your comments from social media, videos and your fond memories of her as Lucinda, Althea, every time I saw her. She loved the audience and fought like HELL to bring truth and honesty to her performances. On a personal level there aren’t words to describe how much she meant to me. Only feelings, which override words in so many cases when it comes to love. I will be sharing more so we can all grieve together but here are our last words together only just a few days ago. I said, “Liz, do you know how much you have done for me?” She said, “You can do more.” Because of what she has done for me over the last 38 years, the strength and fearless nature in how she lived her life, she is right, I can AND WILL do more. I look forward to sharing more about her life, which encompasses so much more than her INCREDIBLE career on daytime television. She also said to me when I told her how much the fans loved her…”I tried.” She more than tried. She left it all on the screen. I’ll miss her every day but grateful the universe gifted me with such a force of nature, of which the world will not see the likes of again. ❤️”

Michael Park (ex-Jack) shared via Twitter: “If Liz was involved in a scene I was lucky enough to be in, I could always count on learning a little something and laughing a whole lot. She was a ferocious talent in love with her craft. One of the greats that will certainly be missed.”

Mary Beth Evans (ex-Sierra, ATWT and now Kayla, DAYS) expressed: “I was so lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Elizabeth Hubbard for six years on As the World Turns, where she played my mother. What an amazing powerhouse this woman was … always striving for spontaneity and keeping it real. My favorite times with her were riding in the car from Manhattan to Brooklyn — the stories she would tell were so much fun. Rest in peace, sweet lady. #RIPLIZ #ATWT

Peter Boynton (ex-Tonio, ATWT) added: “Rest in peace, Boss! Working with/for you at ‘Walsh Enterprises’ was a highlight of my NYC years! Your encouragement and respect meant the world to me. I’m raising a glass to you and feel so lucky to have worked with you in that great ‘ATWT’ community. On angels wings. – Peter ‘Tonio Reyes’ Boynton.”

Scott Bryce (ex-Craig, ATWT) said, “She was astonishing. Liz RIP. Love you woman.”

Retro TV expressed: “We are saddened to hear of soap-opera legend Elizabeth Hubbard’s passing at age 89. A force to be reckoned with, Hubbard stole our hearts with her portrayal of Althea Davis on The Doctors. Please share your favorite memories with us as we remember the beloved Elizabeth Hubbard.”

In addition, Alec Baldwin who played Billy Aldrich on The Doctors wrote: “I worked on The Doctors with the great Liz Hubbard. An amazing woman and remarkable actress.”

Michael Fairman TV will continue to update this post as reactions continue from Liz’s colleagues.

Daytime Icon Elizabeth Hubbard Passes Away at 89

One of daytime drama’s most beloved and revered actresses, Elizabeth Hubbard, has passed away. The legendary Daytime Emmy-winning star was best known for her performances as Dr. Althea Davis on The Doctors and Lucinda Walsh on As the World Turns.

Elizabeth’s son, Jeremy Bennett, broke the heartbreaking news via his Facebook page, sharing, “I’m sorry to say with a broken heart mi mum passed over the weekend. Thank you for being an unmovable rock that guided me through life. I will try to honour your memory for as long as I live.”

Photo: NBC

Hubbard received 11 Daytime Emmy nominations throughout her career on the soaps. Of her 11 Daytime Emmy nods, Hubbard earned eight for her towering work as Lucinda Walsh on CBS’ As the World Turns, a role she played from 1984 till the the beloved soap went off the air in September of 2010.

However, Liz was the very first actress to win the Outstanding Lead Actress award in 1974 for her star-turn as Dr. Althea Davis on NBC’s The Doctors.  She followed that two years later winning a Daytime Emmy for the TV movie, First Ladies Dairies: Edith Wilson.

Liz was born to be an actress and graduated from the distinguished Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England,  She got her soap start with roles on Guiding Light, then Edge of Night, and eventually joined The Doctors as Althea.  She played the role from 1964-1969, then again from 1970-1978 and one last time from 1981-1982.  After The Doctors was cancelled, she went over to One Life to Live for a short run in the role of Estelle Chadwick.

Later, everything changed in Oakdale when As the World Turns wisely cast Hubbard as Lucinda Walsh, a defining role in her career.  Lucinda was a tough-as-nails corporate business woman with a past, who guarded her heart, and carried on tumultuous relationships with her children and the men in her life.

Elizabeth’s final appearance on-screen was in the web series Anacostia in 2015 that reunited Hubbard with her ATWT on-screen adopted daughter, Lily, played by her dear friend, Martha Byrne.

We will continue to provide updates and reactions in the soap community on the death of Elizabeth Hubbard in the days ahead.

Share your condolences and remembrances for the great Elizabeth Hubbard vis the comment section.  But first, we share the last times we had the opportunity to connect with Liz.  One, on the red carpet at the Daytime Emmys along with Martha Bryne in 2018, and her participation as one of our ‘Doctors’ alums during our pandemic game show, ‘Soap-Opera-Know-It-All’, where she was gracious enough to be a part of the episode.
