‘Bachelorette’ Hannah Brown Wins ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Mirror Ball Trophy In Season Finale

Photo: ABC

Did ‘Bachelor and Bachelorette Nation’ turn out in droves to ensure their gal, Hannah Brown took home the Mirror Ball on Monday night’s season finale of Dancing with the Stars?  Well, during the final night of competition, Brown and her pro dance partner, Alan Bersten had their best performances to date, which could have also swayed the nationwide vote.

Whatever the case, the season 28 finale had Brown besting runner-up Kel Mitchell, and before that Ally Brooke and Lauren Alaina who wound up in 3rd and fourth place, respectively.

Brown looked stunned as host Tom Bergeron announced her and her partner as the winners.  It was just a week ago, she had a tearful confrontation with judge Carrie Ann Inaba over what she felt was an undeserved tough critique of her dance moves.

Following last night’s show, Inaba told US Weekly on the decision of Brown for the crown: “It’s not what I expected. But this whole season has been filled with ups and downs and unexpected twists and turns. I think, always, the right person wins on Dancing With the Stars because it’s a collaborative vote between the judges’ scores and the audience. And what the audience says is very important and we honor it.”

DANCING WITH THE STARS: Chrishell Stause Shares & Performs Emotional Tribute To Her Late Parents

It has been a challenging few years for former soap and current Selling Sunset star, Chrishell Stause, who is currently still in the running for the Mirror Ball Trophy following Monday night’s competition on Dancing with the Stars.

Last night, Chrishell shared in the pre-dance package that she was performing a contemporary routine with her pro partner, Gleb Savchenko, in honor of both of her parents who died from lung cancer in July of 2020 and April 2019.

Photo: ABC

Stause expressed: “They were really loving people. Some of my best memories are with my mom, dancing with her in the living room.  No one would be more excited about me being here and doing the show than her.” (referring to her mom who passed away this summer).  She continued on to say: “Right before I dance, I really feel her calm me, encourage me. That has been the most special thing I will take away from this show.  I know that my parents are with me. My mom’s name was Renee Stause, and my dad’s name was Jeff Stause. And this dance is for them.”

Dancing to “Stars” by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Chrishell and Gleb delivered the most emotional performance of the night.  And the judges took notice, as Carrie Ann Inaba said to Stause: “You poured your heart and soul into that dance.   Bruno added: “That was so emotionally engaging, so raw, so truthful, irresistible because you gave everything you have.”  While the three judges including Derek Hough also gave a rougher technical critique of her to improve upon next week, Chrishell and Gleb still scored all eights and 24 out of 30 overall.

At the end of the night, during the reveal of who was safe and who was in the bottom two, host Tyra Banks revealed that Chrishell and Gleb were safe.

Then, after combining the scores and fans’ votes, in the bottom two were Johnny Weir and Vernon Davis.  In a close decision, Derek chose to save Johnny, and Carrie Ann chose Vernon. So, it was up to Bruno to cast the deciding vote and he saved Johnny, sending Davis, the former NFL Pro football star, home.

DANCING WITH THE STARS: Jesse Metcalfe Eliminated, Chrishell Stause Gets A Surprise From NKOTB

Last night on  ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, another soap opera alumni’s journey on the ballroom dance floor came to an end, when Jesse Metcalfe’s (Passions, Desperate Houswives and Dallas) ) and his pro partner, Sharna Burgess, were sent home by the judges after landing in the bottom two.

After combining the judges scores and fan voting at home, the other couple joining Jesse and Sharna in the bottom two were  Vernon Davis and Peta Murgatroyd.  This season it is up to the judges to choose who stays and who goes when forced with picking between the two lowest scoring couples of the night.. Bruno chose Vernon, Carrie Ann followed and Derek also revealed he would have saved Davis or Metcalfe as well.

With Metcalfe eliminated following last’s week’s departure of Ex-Another World’s Anne Heche, that leaves only Chrishell Stause still in the running vying for the Mirror Ball Trophy from the world of daytime drama.

Here’s a recap of what went down on the dance floor for Metcalfe, Stause and Davis last night.

Jesse Metcalfe and Sharna Burgess – (Tango) – “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”

Dancing to the classic by Tears for Fears, Metcalfe promised in the pre-package to loosen up and show a more human and vulnerable side to his dancing.  However, although there was a bit more coming from Jesse this outing, the judges criticized him for needing more technique than just performance. SCORE 19 out of 30

Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko (Cha-Cha)  – “The Right Stuff”

Revealing to all on the pre-package, Chrishell is a huge New Kids on the Block fan from back in her teens, and was stoked to dance to their song during the night’s 80’s competition,   However, during the performance, while Stause has shown improvement, this time the judges noted she seemed to slow down to much during the dance and also she needs to watch her footwork.  After Gleb and Chrishell danced, Tyra Banks had a surprise for Chrishell when the NKOTB sent in a viral video message to their biggest fan!  Stause was overjoyed.  SCORE 19 out of 30

Vernon Davis and Peta Murgatroyd –  (Tango) – “Living’ on a Prayer”

Performing to Bon Jovi’s classic “Living on a Prayer”, Davis donned some rocker dude long locks and hit the floor with Murgatroyd, but the former pro football star looked stiff moving around the ballroom.  Judge Bruno noted that his footwork was a bit flat.  However, Carrie Ann shared she liked the quality of movement he was showing them.  SCORE 21 out of 30

So after looking at the clips of their performances below, did the right person get sent home in Metcalfe vs. Davis?  Do you think Chrishell can hold out longer on the series through the next rounds of competition?  Let us know in the comments section. DANCING WITH THE STARS: Tyra Banks Botched Elimination Leads To Confusion; Anne Heche & Keo Motsepe Sent Home

Every host at one time or another in their career can have one of these moments when they are live!  Now, add Dancing with the Stars, Tyra Banks to the list.

Banks, who is the new host of the long-running celebrity ballroom-dance competition made a major gaffe at the end of Monday night’s episode.

The issue arose when Banks was announcing the bottom two duos with three left on the floor.  Standing there on live TV in the confusion were: Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko, Anne Heche and Keo Motsepe, and Vernon Davis and Peta Murgatroyd.

However, of the three couples only Heche and Motsepe were truly in the bottom two.  The other, were actually Monica Aldama and Val Chmerkovskiy, who’d already left the floor, since they were told they were moving on.  But then, Banks called them back to the floor, saying, “There has been an error in the control room.  This is the craziness of live TV.  I’m so sorry. This is live TV.”  Many were quick to compare the snafu to Steve Harvey’s Miss Universe mishap in 2015!

In a post-show tweet,  Banks claimed that the error wasn’t her fault:  “Wowzers. Live TV. Wrong name on cards. So challenging to deal with moments like these. But we power through.”  However, she did receive some backlash from fans of the show, who thought she should own up to the mistake.

Now as to how three former soap stars did last night, here’s what went down:

Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko- Foxtrot

Dancing to Harry Styles “Adore You”, Stause was cited by Bruno for a stumble, but judge Derek Hough says he did not see it and it was her best dance of the season.  Week to week Chrishell and Gleb’s connection grows stronger.  In her pre-dance package, Chrishell discussed freezing her eggs, and after the dance, Tyra asked Chrishell why she revealed this publicly, and Stause shared it’s important to get in front of it, so it’s than a none issue.  SCORE 22 out of 30

Anne Heche and Keo Motsepe – Paso Doble

Dancing to Katy Perry’s “Rise”, in the pre-package Anne discusses her relationship with Ellen DeGeneres and how she was discriminated against from taking her as her date to her own movie premiere – but how Heche was instrumental in moving the needle forward for LGBTQ rights  During her dance, the judges felt she was a bit unsteady on her feet with a bit of a “balance” issue,   SCORE 21 out of 30

Jesse Metcalfe and Sharna Burgess – Cha-Cha

Dancing to Santana and Rob Thomas’ “Smooth”, the judges want Jesse to have more of an “easiness” to his dances and give us more “hip action”.  However, it was the former Passions star best performance of the season.   SCORE 21 out of 30

Noteworthy Performance: Skai Jackson and Alan Bersten – Foxtrot

In the emotional high point of the evening,  Skai Jackson paid tribute to her former Disney Channel co-star, the late Cameron Boyce. She and pro partner Alan Bersten performed to John Legend’s “Ordinary People”.  Judge, Carrie Ann was so moved by the performance she gave out the first 10 of the season.”  SCORE 28 out of 30

Watch Anne, Chrishell and Jesse’s dances below, plus the high point of the night in Skai Jackson’s performance.   Then let us know what you thought about the Tyra snafu and Anne Heche being sent home in the comment section.
