Brooke suspects that Stephanie is pretending to be unconscious from her fall. Stephanie regains consciousness and calls 911 to tell them that she’s been attacked by Brooke. While in the hospital, Stephanie lists out the many reasons why Ridge should leave Brooke. Ridge sets his mother straight once and for all on the topic of his wife. When Bridget asks Nick again if he’ll take her back, he makes his intentions about a possible future with her very clear. Bridget is heartbroken when she witnesses a tender moment between Nick and Aggie.  Nick and Aggie confirm to Bridget that they have become intimate and are in the early stages of a relationship. Liam and Ed are inconclusive with their findings and are not able to help Steffy clear her name in regards to the video of Brooke and Oliver. Steffy uses her charm to get Liam to further investigate and become her ally in her pursuit to find out who is responsible. Bridget, Owen and Jackie share a moving, yet unconventional, moment.  As Hope is moving into the Forrester guesthouse, she visited by Brooke, who begs her to move back home. Steffy blames Brooke for the scandal and tries to get Oliver to jump on her bandwagon. Oliver sees a more sensitive and softer side of Steffy when she encourages him to visit Hope at the guesthouse. Even though Oliver pleads with Hope to forgive him, she is unable to get the images of him and Brooke being together out of her mind. Taylor gives Brooke her professional advice about how to deal with Hope.  Brooke is chastised by Stephanie and Taylor about her “brand of destruction” which she uses to have her way with men. Oliver suggests that he and Hope leave town for a while to get away from the scandal that is surrounding them. Hope finds a box of masks and costumes from her party and asks Oliver to meet her at the main house later. Despite Ridge comforting her, Brooke fears that her relationship with Hope is ruined forever.  To help her better understand what happened on the night of her graduation party, Hope asks Oliver to don a mask and reenact the events which took place between him and Brooke. Stephanie and Taylor fear that Brooke may have done irreparable damage to Hope. Meanwhile, Brooke fears that Stephanie will brainwash Hope into ostracizing Brooke from her life forever. Taylor observes Hope’s actions and calls Brooke with a concern that her daughter may be having a psychological breakdown.

Days Of Our Lives

GH’s Maurice Benard and DAYS Kassie DePaiva Named “Power Performances of the Week”

Two daytime vets in two very opposing types of storylines delivered emotional and riveting work during their scenes.  First on General Hospital, Maurice Benard (Sonny) in yet another stellar knockout performance in the Alzheimer’s storyline; showed the anguish and pain of a son trying to come to terms with his father’s ultimate fate.

This week saw Sonny originally deciding to try to prolong Mike’s (Max Gail) life by having him placed on a feeding tube, but soon after seeing the fate of Yvonne, another Alzheimer’s patient, and a talk with Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Sonny changed course, and did what’s best for Mike, not for himself, and decided to let his father die with dignity and with as least suffering as possible.

We don’t think there could have been a dry eye in the house when Sonny visited Mike’s hospital bedside, and told him that it’s OK for his dad to let go, and not have to stick around for him.  Max Gail, as per usual, was also so touching in these scenes.

Benard did not overplay a beat, and for anyone who has had a parent die of this dreadful disease, you could relate to what Sonny went through in the more than capable hands of this two-time Daytime Emmy winner.

Over on Days of our Lives, what a return for Kassie DePaiva in her role as Eve Donovan! This time, she has come back unhinged and at an emotional rock bottom, so much so that she had abducted Ben Weston (Rob Scott Wilson), had him taken to an abandoned warehouse, strapped him up, tortured him with an assist from Dr. Rolf’s protege, Vincent (Michael Teh), and came up with this twisted plot to have Ben turn back into the “necktie serial killer” and kill his bride, Ciara (Victoria Konefal).

Why, you say? Well, because Eve’s daughter, Paige was one of Ben’s victims and it has been eating Eve alive this whole time. She is a mama grieving for her daughter so deeply that she can’t understand why Paige is dead and he is left on earth to roam around free and find love and happiness… and we find out she was gutted when Ben got a last-minute reprieve when he was recently sentenced to death by lethal injection.

DePaiva played this arc of Eve’s story as a soapalicious villain, but when you really deconstruct it, Eve is just in so much pain… and all of that came through even in the darkest of scenes.  And … there is yet more to come!

Kudos to Maurice and Kassie for being named Michael Fairman TV’s “Power Performances of the Week”.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Sonny Makes The Heartbreaking Decision About Mike In Episode With Touching Performances

For anyone who has gone through losing a loved one to Alzheimer’s Disease, Wednesday’s episode of General Hospital would bring them right back to the place they found themselves in when faced with the difficult decision of what to do when there is no more hope, when the disease has progressed to its most advance stages, and wanting the person they love to die with what dignity they have left.

Through Sonny’s journey played beautifully by Maurice Benard, we see a son who wants to do what he can to prolong his father’s life, holding on to the moments where there seemed to be some signs of life within his dad, and not wanting the guilt of being the person to make the ultimate decision – in this case to put Mike (Max Gail) on a feeding tube, when he no longer has the desire to eat.

Wanting to move forward with the procedure to have a feeding tube put into Mike, Sonny runs into Felix (Marc Anthony Samuel) who tells him about Yvonne, and how she is at GH on a feeding tube and a ventilator and strapped to a bed.

When Sonny sees how Yvonne is hooked to machines, it is a real awakening for him,  That, coupled with one of the most important talks and moments in the Alzheimer’s storyline when Sonny speaks to Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst)  – who tells him how she sees Mike, who is now a shell of himself, who doesn’t smile, doesn’t eat, and so forth – Sonny is aware of what he truly needs to do.  These scenes they were played to perfection by Rebecca Herbst and Maurice Benard, and couple that with Laura Wright and Steve Burton as a concerned and emotional Carly and Jason; seeing how this situation is ripping Sonny apart, and also facing that Mike will die, they too are devastated and delivered hankie-filled moments in their scenes.

The final minutes of the episode featured father and son in a simple, quiet, and powerful scene where Sonny tells his dad, he is not going to have a procedure, and that it’s OK for him to go.   Mike, in tears, hears what Sonny is saying and is relieved.  Sonny has set him free to die, and now Sonny must face his decision – a selfless one that any of us who have been in this position know has to be done for their loved one; so there will be no more suffering and no more pain.  Kudos to GH for today’s scenes in this storyline.

Watch the scene between Sonny and Elizabeth below.

Now let us know via the comment section, how do you think GH handled this major moment in the telling of the Alzheimer’s storyline? What did you think of the performances?

Kassie DePaiva Back as Eve on DAYS; What Did You Think of the Shocking Reveal?

If you caught Wednesdays’s episode of Days of our Lives, you know that Ben’s (Rob Scott Wilson) captor was revealed.  After many theories by fans on social media since Ben and Ciara’s (Victoria Konefal) wedding literally blew up in their faces, with Ben being kidnapped, it all came down to this moment.

Then, in a great entrance; soap veteran Kassie DePaiva made a return to the NBC soap opera as Eve Donovan, the woman behind the kidnapping.

It all goes down in a warehouse (somewhere yet to be determined to the audience)  where we see Ben strapped to a chair and man dressed in black coming into the room where he is being held introducing himself as Vincent played by actor Michael Teh.

Vincent tells Ben he blew up his wedding and was paid to do so by his employer.   The henchmen also notes that said employer is also the same person who sent the other wedding gift- that was the one that Ben thought Clyde (James Read) to be behind.

Ben wants to be released but Vincent takes a baton and strikes Ben’s leg as he yelps in pain, and then, lo and behold, from the doorway we hear, “That’s enough Vincent.”

Just then, Eve says she will ‘take it from here’ as Ben watches her in shock.  What will Eve’s next move be?  Has she snapped?  Is this payback for what Ben did for murdering her daughter, Paige?  Is Eve working with someone else for money as well to harm Ben and Ciara?

DePaiva tweeted on her return: “I’m baacckk!@nbcdays watch out Ben!”
