B&B's Katherine Kelly Lang Dances The Salsa On Dancing With The Stars Italy, Then Gets Onslaught Of Rude Comments From Judges!

Courtesy/BallandoConLeStrelle
This really upset us! The Bold and the Beautiful’s Katherine Kelly Lang has been on hiatus from her role as Brooke as she competes each each week in the ballroom dance competition Dancing with the Stars Italy, or as they say in Italian: Ballando Con Le Strelle! In last night’s live television broadcast, Lang along with her professional dance partner Simone Di Pasquale, performed the salsa to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”.
Lang was clearly suffering from an injury sustained prior to the broadcast as evident from her bandaged thigh on her leg. When the news of the injury was revealed earlier, Katherine also had received many positive vibes and support on Twitter including from her former B&B co-star Ronn Moss (Ex-Ridge) who had also gone through the DWTS Italy competition.
After Katherine and Simone completed their salsa, the judges critique was nothing short of offensive! They also gave her terrible marks. Even though they spoke to Katherine in Italian and she was trying to understand their criticism through an ear piece, and then as you will see, she speaks English back, and they interpret in Italian on the live broadcast, the judges seemed to intimate a bunch of things! Some shockers included: perhaps Katherine was out all night and didn’t rehearse … and she’s from Hollywood, so what is this dancing? And they were trying to compare her learning lines on B&B … to learning dance moves on Dancing with the Stars. It seemed that the judges put Katherine in a spot of having to defend herself! Later, when asked about how she felt about the judges, Lang said, “No comment” and received a standing ovation!
After the jump, watch Katherine’s performance and the judges harsh comments! (To make the video bigger and to see in full frame, click on the far right icon of the video itself) Then let us know what you thought of the onslaught! Was she being held to some higher standard than others who have taken their turn on the celebrity ballroom dance competition? Comment below!
The judges were too harsh with KKL. I still love her & will always root for her.
Yes the judges were harsh and very rude. I am Italian canadian, I live in vancouver bc Canada. The judges were also very pathetic and no class at all. I love Katherine she is a wonderful actress.
Since I have no idea what the judges were saying, I’ll only say this…she wasn’t good!
Kelly seemed very stiff and awkward, and she seemed to be counting her steps.
I’d love to hear how the American judges would score her performance…especially Len!
In other words…Her dancing was a lot like her acting!
I do not disagree with either one of you as far as her acting and dancing is concerned but the judges’ criticism was way beyond the pale. NO ONE deserves to be ganged up and bullied like that in the public arena. It takes a lot of courage to get up there and dance when you have no experience as a dancer. Watching this American actresses’ face emote feelings of hurt and humiliation was painful. Do I think Italians might be harder on an American woman, especially an attractive actress whom they erroneously perceive as being from Hollywood? Yes. We know Amanda Know did not receive a fair trial and she was found guilty in the Italian public court of law and they blasted her sense of morals or lack thereof. I only understand a little bit of Italian but I don’t need a translator to convey to be that those judges were a bunch of cantankerous old bitches.
Who gives a flying rats behind what Len thinks the woman is 53 and has a body of a 35 year old that are simply jealous go Kelly!
They ! God I need to get off of here sorry this one made me blow a gasket. America is exceptional in everything we do and it is about dam time Americans including our politicians start screaming it from the rooftops!
I have to agree. She seemed so stiff but if she had an injury she may have been in pain so that would explain. I like K.K.L. so I really do feel bad for her but I think the judges could have been a little kinder. Her marks we’re justified.
Wish I could understand what the judges say.
She did mess up quite a bit, but the judges should be helpful and give her things to work on. Was this her first dance?
Why did they bring up Antonio Sabato, Jr. and what did they say about him?
Good luck to her. She looks great.
Some of the scores were way too low – the 1 was ridiculous. Factoring in her age and her lack of dancing background, a 5 or 6 would have been fair. The foot work, lack of hip movement, posture and arm extension need more input from the pro dancer.
I was there to watch it live and I can tell you that the judges were talking about everything but what she actually performed out there on the dance floor under with her injured leg. And it’s ridiculous to compare what she’s done perfectly well as a fulltime job for more than 27 years to something she’s only done for a couple of weeks talking in a different language with someone she’s never met before, surrounded by mean people who want nothing but to break her down. She was also trying to let them know that in the American version the participants get to practice for a few months before they go on air, but the judges didn’t care about that and they kept interrupting her and not letting her talk, just assuming they knew what she was doing in Rome when they couldn’t be more wrong. I think it’s totally wrong for them to sit there and supposedly judge her dance routine when they know nothing about dancing themselves. In most other countries the judges are dancers who have competed themselves, but in the Italian version they are just ignorant people with a very arrogant macho attitude. I feel so sorry for Kelly to have to go back to that ridiculous so-called dance show next week. She is way too good for that show and definitely in a league of her own. The fact that she didn’t even bring up her leg injury as an excuse speaks volumes of what kind of sweet loving person she is. They had already made up their minds that she was just there to spend time in Rome and not practice. She could have chosen to comment the judges’ critique, but chose not to because she’s sooo much better than even trying or begin to stoop to their level. It was definitely not worth it. And after the show ended she still took the time to talk to her fans and posed sweetly for pictures with a gorgeous smile on her face with everyone who wanted pictures. She’s such a pro and was able to pull that off even though she was probably falling apart on the inside. I admire her so much for being such a classy lady.
Here here! Well reported, good observations, thank you.
Karolina I am agree with you!!!You know!!!!
Thank you for that insightful comment, Karolina. I think she should get out of there.
It was like watching the Romans feed this woman to lions.
Agreed! I did not see it live, but the judges were clearly not giving Kelly the credit she deserved just for showing up on their (crappy) show. She is adorable and courageous.
Props to her 🙂
Interesting how her dance segment seemed double or triple the tighter length in the US, perhaps we have shorter attention spans or again, keep things tighter and geared to excellence. The judges went on and on and each of them including the host and Kathryn’s dancer looked haggard and unattractive, some puffy and most cigarette & wine- aged. Must be jelousy on their parts, and poor Kathryn to be put in such a bargain basement costume on such a taudry, static set. Seems the Italians–and that is my descent as well as African-American, an eclectic mix, don’t sue me–are bitter. Such grumpy paisanos…this is why I’m told never to visit. They make the Show Time at the Apollo audience look like angels. Poor Kathryn, she kept it classy amid some very low-brow, threatened, cranky people…praise her for not walking off for good. May this stengthen her in every way.
I’m truly shocked and appalled on how RUDE the judges were to Katherine, talking over her, not letting her speak; and this is without knowing what the first judge actually said!….Shame on them!!
Completely agree. As Susan Banks from DOL would say, “Those judges were mean, mean, mean!”
Yes I Agree with you, mean mean mean. Lol. you tell them susan banks.
Well…
1) Kelly Lang was one of the worst dancer last night and she deserved to be eliminated from the competition. Her second dance was awful, really awful.
2) The judges weren’t too nice, but they avove all noticed she was not passionated and charismatic as her character in B&B. She seemed aloof and bored most of the time, not really interested in going the extra mile.
3) Other competitors are injured and they danced better than her.
4) Kelly Lang was paid very well, her complaints sound silly.
5) Ronn Moss 4 years ago behaved in a different and more positive way, danced well and the audience really loved him (he almost won the competion).
You have no idea what you are talking about she was nervous plain and simple! If you do not what. Americans over there then do not invite us!
Correction :want Americans ! Should not be posting I am so angry!
Those judges are harsh to everybody (believe me, I’m Italian and I know what I’m talking about). They were to Ronn Moss and Sean Kanan, too. The difference is that Ronn and Sean danced better than Kelly, had different and more positive attitude, more chemistry with their dance partners and they didn’t seem aloof and bored all the time.
Kelly Lang is a nice person, always treated like a superstar here in Italy. This time she is judged in a competition. If she doesn’t dance well… there are no escuxes to accept her complaints or to speak badly about Italy.
Italian Boy, please. If the judges’ criticism stayed in the arena of a critique, it would be fine, but this was a public flogging. One judge kept sharply cutting her off while another suggested she was out boozing it up the night before like a cheap floozy. Ultimately, they embarrassed themselves.
Americans are a lot kinder and gracious to our Italian guests. Except for the crow attack on the roller coaster, we treated Fabio like a king. But that crow was not an American.
@harry she is having the last laugh! I have not always been a big fan of her acting but she does give 100 percent and I respect thar
She did not dance well and that is just about it. Doesn’t matter who she is. If you are not good enough to compete you should not participate or accept it. Her dance before was even worse.
That is not the point, Louisa. The point is those judges engaged in personal attacks which had nothing to do with critiquing her dancing.
They were rude, disrespectful and tacky.
she is not a good dancer..
I give her kudos for trying, but she was not good..
(embarrassing for her)
SU00, dear.
The point is not about her dancing. I think even she would agree she wasn’t very good. However, that does not necessitate those judges mortifying her over and over in such a cruel manner.
I am not even a fan of this actress, but that was really painful to watch and watching it assaulted my sense of humanity. Embarrassing for her you say? I beg to differ. That was embarrassing to the judges.
Harry,,
The rude voicetress judges are part of Dancing with the Stars Italy, that is part of the show,, their sarcastic remarks.
there is site called Rude Tube that has some of the Dancing with the Stars Italy judges rude remarks to contestants..
If you can’t dance it is best not to dance on Dancing with the Stars Italy, they will make some type of a sarcastic mention..
WOW.. I bet they did not do that to Ron.. At first glance I thought this was a SNL skit.. that last guy look just like Fred Armisen…..
It takes a lot for a person to go out if his/her comfort zone and do something like what KKL is doing, especially knowing how people live to judge and belittle her on a daily basis! I give her mad props for throwing herself in there.
For the judges to suggest she isn’t practicing
Seems ridiculous to me. She is a Triathlete, she isn’t lazy or a slacker, or she could never compete in a Triathlon! There is no reason for the judges to be nasty. Haha! I would love to see any of them get out there and try that thing! (Sorry, my initil post posted before I was finished so I had to finish with this reply).
She is in great shape works her heart out! kudos Kelly
their comments were extremely rude and unprofessional.
She doesn’t feel the music therefore her body looks stiff. Scores were too low but as I don’t know what the judges were saying it appeared as they don’t care for her personally.
Dancing with the Stars in any country should be about taking people who have never danced before in their lives and throw them into a competition to learn and grow. The judges were down right rude and ignorant. First, her name is not Brooke. Her name is Katherine or Kelly as she likes to be called. That right there is insulting enough. No she isn’t a good dancer. But she is trying and working on a torn muscle in your leg when you have to plant and pivot is not easy. It hurts people! Good for her saying “no comment”. The judges were rude beyond talking about her dance itself. If they didn’t want an American (who loves her Italian fans) to dance, why did they even invite her to do it? They had it out for her since day 1.
She was nervous but you know what how dare they insult her like that! You can take your italian bullshit and stick it and KKL do not worry you can buy and sell these a/holes for a dime a dozen. Gosh this makes me so angry inside who comes to the fore front on every crisis in this country America how dare you insult one of our own! Sorry but this makes me soo angry KKL come home where you belong! So mad I can not describe in words how this makes me feel you invite the woman over for ratings then you tear her apart.
agreed!
I believe in America, the pros and stars practice for three weeks before the first show, not months.
I have also noticed that the scores given on DWTS are much higher than the scores given on other versions. That is probably why Jessie J gave Antonio a 6. Although, I think the 6 was deserved and Carrie Ann’s 8 was very generous.
I don’t think it was right to question if she had been out on the town. Unless they had seen photos, leave it alone. Are they this way with all the contestants?
I would like to see her on DWTS, but since she is on a CBS show, I doubt she will be. Now that Michelle Stafford is on GH, maybe she’ll be on DWTS. They’ve got to pick better people than this season.
A favor to B&B’s large European audience. WHO CARES???…That video should have had captions instead of rushing it on the website and it would have had more of an impact. SO WHAT!! Who in the HELL were all those judges and people sitting at a little round table..and the music just playing and playing into the intro before one step was taken…we see why AMERICA does reality much better than it’s European counterparts..and can take their shows and make blockbusters out of them. KKL…hightail it out of the rathole with the QUICKNESS..
Bottom line when you attack an actress from my country I will personally kick your ass!
Doesn’t matter if she danced well or not those judges were rude and talked about everything other than dancing, they knew she was hurt before the show started, there was no need to say what all they did, its a damn TV show, those judges are not really as important as they think they are,
If I offended anybody I am sorry I just go batshit crazy when I feel someone is attacking my country/citizens you will just have to deal with it!
If people did their homework they would know;
the judges are that way, not only to her..
they are like that comedian who insults people for his comedy..
the judges are known for their sarcastic comments, it how it is ..
Rude Tube has clips of their comments.. sheesh..
Why would I not expect that from you if it was an actor from your precious GH you would be going nuts with comments about how rude they were.
KKL knew what she was signing up for and so did Brad Bell…They knew it would garner more publicity for B&B! They succeeded in what they set out to do…B&B will probably get the red carpet treatment by Italy officials…more money lining the pockets of Brad Bell and another trip/location shoot for B&B in Italy…at no cost to B&B!!!
Say what you want about KKL, she is a very hard worker. I can’t believe the judges accused her of being slack. I watched some of the other performers, and their scores I think were also way off the mark. These judges are incompetent. I have Italian heritage usually they are lovely, hospitable people, so this is disappointing to see. Did they pick on KKL because they think she is a pampered Hollywood princess? Being on a soap is harder work than it looks – tons of lines, having to get it right in one or two takes, plus she is a businesswoman, producer and a triathlete. Maybe a cultural clash here, idk. But k/kay you don’t help with your comments – that’s exactly why some people have a negative view about Americans, which KKL does not reflect when she travels. She’s a positive ambassador for her country and she did her best, as a non professional dancer having a go. That’s the best she could do. She’s not a natural dancer but I give it to her, I’m in my early forties and not half as fit as KKL.
And what might that be? That we step up to the plate for anyone who needs us that our military helps fight for countries that need us without question. What do I believe in God, family and country! I believe we should still have prayer in school I believe we should pledge allegiance to the Flag every morning in school. Sorry that those values might offend some but that is how I was raised I stood up for KKL because she was being attacked /bullied when they invited her to help their ratings! I am passionate about these things and sorry if it offends you but we are a great country We have nothing to be ashamed of. This is a soap board & I apologize for getting off topic. My husband is right I need to hang up my spurs it has become too personal for me.
Does Kelly’s partner speak English? I would think it would be hard to communicate and learn if he doesn’t.
How many judges do they have? Seemed like a lot and also seemed like they didn’t want to let Kelly speak.
She had to do two dances? On DWTS, the stars don’t do two dances in one night until there aren’t that many left.
I hope Kelly is getting paid a lot of money for doing this. I think she also wanted to do it for the experience and her Italian fans. It’s a shame that the judges seem to be taking the fun out of it.
Mo, she did two dances because every show in Italy lasts FOUR hours (from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.)! 😉
Her dancing was just not that good. It could have been 10x better. I understand that she had an injury but those judges should have not ganged up on her like that. Kelly needs to call Kelly Monaco, to learn some moves
Terrible
Also, Kelly took a leave of absence from her job to concentrate on the dancing and has relocated to Italy. I think the judges need to remember that. She is taking it seriously. I hope she can bounce back next week. She does have things to improve on. Hopefully her partner can help her with that.
Um… She may rock it as Brooke Logan but not as a ballroom dancer.
Apologize for getting off topic way out of line soapy fans! I guess I am just tired of hearing for 6 years that America sucks we do not we have a lot of loving people out there willing to lend a hand. I have been blessed to have a great business and my husband a great job we try to help our family and friends I guess I get tired of hearing no one cares in America. Please accept my apology for any insults I might have made!
WTF OK first of all, I get this is an Italian show but why can they not have subtitles instead of that woman speaking over her?! Second of all, no it wasn’t a good performance BUT that doesn’t give therm the right to be so rude. I understand they have to be honest with their criticism but suggesting that she just didn’t take this seriously enough and spent the night partying??? And comparing learning lines for a soap opera to ballroom dancing on LIVE television, are you kidding me?! I think they were being far to harsh on her, I mean this was the first show of the season right? And she obviously had an injured leg and if I got it right they don’t get a lot of time to practice like in the US show. Those scores and more importantly those comments are absurd IMO.
The more I learn about the judges, the more I understand just how jealous they are of Kelly. Carolyn Smith is 53 too, just like Kelly, but up close in person she looks like she’s in her 70’s and even when you watch videos of her dancing when she was in her 20’s and 30’s she didn’t have the body of a dancer, but she was pretty heavy so her dances were never that elegant or fast. She let her dresses do all the movements she couldn’t do due to her body shape and lack or elegance and ability to move quickly. No wonder she is green with envy now. Without make-up Kelly looks like she’s in her 20’s and she has a perfect body to match, but Carolyn looks like she’s in her 70’s and she was never that good of a dancer anyway, no matter what age. She’s supposedly British, but she’s the only British person I’ve ever heard of who’s absolutely terrified of speaking more than a couple of words English at a time. Given her upbringing and background in dancing, although she wasn’t that good at it, she should know better than the Italians and actually do what all of them are supposed to do – judge the dancing, NOT bully the contestants they’re jealous of. She’s a total disgrace to the English speaking world. And she refused to call Kelly by her name for some strange reason. The other judges actually believe that Brooke is a real person. Maybe they still believe in Santa too. It wouldn’t surprise me. They all seem to be at the same intellectual level of a not very smart three-year-old. I have no idea why they would want Kelly to be on their show for years to get the ratings up, and when she finally comes and takes months off from her job at home they do nothing but try to bury the show completely so it’s not even sure if it will last this season or they’ll have to cancel it early. Way to go, trying to get the ratings up! And what a way to conduct themselves when the entire world is watching to see their only real international star. Shame on all of them for doing everything but judge the dancing and get the ratings up. To the rest of the world it doesn’t seem like such a brainer, but then again we’re not grumpy, ignorant old Italians with a very arrogant attitude or very jealous old-looking former dancers. There’s only one man for Kelly and I guess the Italians can’t get over that. Even if she had been single they wouldn’t stand a chance anyway so they should just get over themselves. There’s no hope for Italy until their entire generation dies out and let educated smart people with a vision take over.
Having worked and been to Italy over 30 times I am shocked at how rude the judges were ….ok so Kelly is not the greatest dancer, so what, she tried and is a wonderful actress and athlete…you can’t do everything perfectly but really enough…hope she’ll enjoy being off the show and still having some time in Italy!!
I really don’t see what the big deal is about the judges coming down on Lang. It’s a television show meant to draw in ratings and viewership and the judges acted much like Simon Crowell on American Idol did, they were brutally honest. Even Lang’s most dedicated fans admit her dancing was rather bad. Were they hard on her? Of course. Did anyone expect them to act like Paula Abdul and be all “lovey dovey” to a bad dancer?Viewers don’t want to see that, viewers want to see bad dancing given bad reviews. Lang is gorgeous for a woman her age, very fit and should be proud of her body, but let’s face it, she had no rythem and couldn’t find the beat.. To say her dancing was hard on the eyes is being nice. Going on her Twitter account and bashing the judges and asking her followers to do the same wasn’t exactly mature, either. Lang’s no teenager with sensitive feelings, if twenty five years of people saying how bad her acting skills are hasn’t dented her ego, judges simply pointing out that her dancing was horrible sure shouldn’t.
Katherine you are so admired for your courage to embark on something different other than acting. You are so extremely beautiful and talented. You deserve to be respected and in my opinion the judges owe you a huge apology. I am not impressed at all with the Italy version of DWTS even without their rude remarks. The Italy version is like a cheap shot at trying to be as classy as the American version of DWTS. The show is a miserable failure in comparison. You have way too much class to be associated with that show. Forget that show and come back to B&B where you are terribly missed by all your fans who adore you. B&B is not the same without you.
will Katherine return to B & B some day soon?…maybe after the dance thing?…I sure hope so:):)
I think they were jealous and mean. Katherine Kelly Lang is beautiful and a wonderful actress. She always looks amazing and is very classy. You go Katherine and never mind what they said. They were tacky and have no class. Love Katherine Kelly Lang always have.
Where can we see her other dances?
Katherine Kelly Lang is a recognized star internationally and her participation in DWTS in Italy can only bring attention to this show! Judges should be made aware of any existing injuries and offer a critic of the dancing and motivate the dancer with suggestions on improvement and what they would like to see! Not throw vicious criticisms at her! She is there to participate and learn from the experience! Judges can bring negative or positive reactions to this show! I am disappointed with the rudeness and lack of professionalism presented! I had not heard that DWTS had an Italian show had it not been for Katherine! Someone had their own agenda going on here! I would like to see her dance again after six shows to see how her dance teacher brings her to a more defined and polished dancer! Judges you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!
Yes, she croaked on this one, but I thought Lang’s other dance number to “My Everything” was outstanding! She did a cart wheel in stilettos, and the splits at the end of the number. To me, that displayed her talent and athleticism. Her rhythm looked to me like it was on the mark too. Check it out online! Very entertaining!

‘General Hospital’s’ Dominic Zamprogna Shares He Was ‘Happy to Hear’ of The Triangle Storyline Developing Between Dante/Elizabeth/Ric

General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri) opened up about the burgeoning love triangle forming between his Port Charles alter-go, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) after recently aired scenes, plus his hopes for the future of a Dante and Liz pairing, during his appearance on the Sunday, April 23 edition of the That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
On last week’s episodes of GH, Ric has made the decision that he wanted to propose to his ex-wife, only when he showed up at Elizabeth’s front door, he misread the scenario he walked in with Liz tending to Dante’s injured leg from the softball game. From there, the legal eagle’s jealous streak is reemerging which may cause him to act out and do something unforgivable, or will he take the high road? Stay tuned.
Speaking with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson about where Elizabeth stands in the annals of the long-running soap, Zamprogna said, “She’s up there with Steve and Maurice (Maurice Benard) as one of the most legacy-filled people on the show.”

HOW DANTE AND ELIZABETH CAME ABOUT
Dominic jokes it’s a far cry for where Dante and Elizabeth previously, recalling, “We had some scenes together years ago and we were both laughing. Becky’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not going be paired up anytime soon.’ I remember we laughed immediately after they yelled ‘cut,”‘and said to each other, ‘Well, so much for that!'”
Fast-forward to early 2025 and as Zamprogna remembered it, “Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) came up to me at the General Hospital Christmas party, and I think it was a year and a half ago and she said, ‘We’re going to have you in scenes with Elizabeth,’ My internal monologue is going, ‘I’m not with Lulu (Alexa Havins) anymore and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) gone, so maybe they want to see if this works.’ I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and try to find the chemistry. I just wanted to play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope it was what people liked, and I don’t know if it is … or not.”
Knowing how beloved Elizabeth is to the GH faithfuls, Zamprogna added, “She got a big fan base with Ric … and a big fan base with with Jason … and you know, you’re going to piss somebody off. But, didn’t Ric drug Elizabeth and put Carly in a panic room?”

DANTE AND ELIZABETH PAIRING COULD STIR UP STORY FOR OTHERS IN PORT CHARLES
In closing, Dominic felt that the wide-reaching tentacles of a Dante and Elizabeth relationship is something he is 100% down for. “The triangle thing; I was happy to hear it was with Ric and her, because I felt it’s important to have her the top of it as opposed to Dante, Lulu and Elizabeth.”
Zamprogna added, “When you get into relationships on a soap, things seem to fizzle out a little bit, The buildup is what’s the fun part, and the getting to know each other, and the people who are affected by this coming together. When with this case it’s going to affect: Ric, Sonny, Lulu. There’s so much more story here. To me, it’s going to be a fun story to play.”
You can check out Dominic’s visit to That’s Awesome with Steve and Bradford below.

GH and OLTL Alum Patrick J. Gibbons Reveals the Story Behind Writing Trina’s Song on ‘General Hospital’ (Exclusive)

At the conclusion of today’s August 21 episode of General Hospital, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) sings a lullaby to baby Dez, that went into a montage to close out the episode as her father Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) reports to Pentonville and winds up in his jail cell.
However, in a fun fact, the song entitled, “A Lonely Heart To Give” was actually written by none other than former One Life to Live and General Hospital actor, Patrick J. Gibbons.
Daytime fans first met Gibbons as Sam Manning on One Life to Live. At the time, when he started on the soap, he was just 5-years-old. Gibbons played the part from 2010-2013 on ABC and Prospect Park’s editions of the show. Fast-forward to 2018, Gibbons shows up on General Hospital as Wyatt Hoover, the scout who seemed always be injured, but in the thick of the drama. Patrick had appeared on GH multiple times as Wyatt including: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023.

FROM HIS GRANDMOTHER’S DEATH CAME THE INSPIRATION FOR HIS SONG
Now in 2026, General Hospital fans are getting to learn about another side of Gibbons’ talent as a songwriter and guitar player after “A Lonely Heart to Give” debuted today! Michael Fairman TV caught up with Patrick, who is now a senior at Penn State entering his final year as a finance major, to get the back-story of how his song wound up on GH!
Gibbons explained he wrote the song in honor of his grandmother who passed away a few years ago with whom he was, very, very close with. “Randomly, my grandmother had a downfall and passed away during the second semester of my sophomore year. I was in my dorm a lot and I was just playing with my guitar. And at the time, I was really into finger-style playing. I wrote the lyric and music to it (with a little help from my guitar teacher Lou), and my mom showed the rough demo to Frank Valentini (EP, General Hospital). He’s like an uncle to me. Frank loved it so much he said, “Finish that up. I want to hear the whole thing, and I want it on the show.”
MAKING MUSIC FOR GENERAL HOSPITAL
Gibbons and his parents took the next steps! “So now, all we needed was a female voice, because I thought that would fit the song well,” Patrick shared. “At the golf club we go to my parents were at a dinner. They liked the singer that was performing and spoke to her about the song, and she says she would like to bring it to her ‘boss’ who ended up being Eric Bazilian of the Hooters fame!” (Bazilian also wrote the smash hit song “One of Us” for Joan Osborne).
Next, “We went in the studio and recorded it and the song came together and it was beautiful. We loved it. They loved it at General Hospital and now they’re putting it the show and they are coming in with a piano, instead of a guitar. Paul Glass, the GH musical director, has been keeping us updated over the last six months of how it was coming along, and when it would air, and how GH put their own arrangement to it. I can’t wait to see and hear what they did with it.”

PATRICK’S ONE LIFE TO LIVE FAMILY
Everyone knows that the One Life to Live extended family share a very tight bond, and Patrick said he does stay in touch with a few of his former One Life to Live co-stars, especially those from the Manning family! “I stayed in touch with Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) and sent her little videos here and there. She was like my second mom for five years. We keep in contact with Kristen Alderson (ex-Starr) over X the most, and she can’t believe how big I’ve gotten. Like, none of them can! (laughs). I also loved working with Roger Howarth (ex-Todd) and Trevor St. John (ex-Todd and Victor Jr.), and to me since I was so young, they were just my friends, ‘Roger and Trevor,’ not Todd Manning or Victor Jr.”
It was a trip to California and a visit to Port Charles that ultimately led to Gibbons second soap role of Wyatt Hoover. Patrick explains, “In 2016, Frank Valentini invited us out to Los Angeles to visit the set of General Hospital. I think he heard me say, ‘This is so much fun. I miss being on the set.’ He goes, ‘You should come out. I’ll bring you on the show. We can make you a character.'”
A few years later, Patrick’s dream became a reality! “Then, by the summer of 2018, I was playing Wyatt, the scout, and shared scenes with Wes Ramsey (Peter August), and the best was when I shared a scene with Roger Howarth and Michael Easton (ex-John, OLTL and ex-Silas, Finn et al, GH), it was like chemistry from the old days.”

IT’S ALL IN THE NUMBERS
As to his future aspirations, it’s a career in the finance game that has piqued Gibbons’ real-life interest. But never say never to a return to acting. Patrick explained, “I’ve always enjoyed numbers. And on top of that, one of the biggest parts of finance is being personable and outgoing.”
He continued, “That’s one of the greatest skills I developed growing up. I really love the markets. I’m super interested. I’m never going to close the door to acting. I’m always open to that because I just love it so much. It’s such a great art.”
Take note! If there are any investment bankers or private equity folks among the GH faithful looking for a young analyst next year, Patrick’s DMs are open. You can find him on X at @PatrickJGibbons.”
So, what did you think of the song sung by Trina on today’s GH that was written by Patrick J. Gibbons? Did you enjoy Patrick’s performances as One Life’s Sam and GH’s Wyatt? Would you like to see him back on GH at some point? Let us know via the comment section.
