Daytime favorite Jordi Vilasuso, whom we previously announced was joining CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates for its second season, is arriving on-screen sooner than you think!

In new details released by the soap, Vilasuso will make his debut on next week’s January 13 episode. He will be taking on the character of Grayson Perez, who is a lab tech woking at the Garland Memorial Hospital with Ashley played by Jen Jacob. As soap fans previously saw, in the season 2 extended promo for the series, Grayson is seen making out with Ashley at a bar.

In addition, outside of Grayson’s responsibilities at the hospital, he is overwhelmed taking care of his mother and is looking for relief. He finds that relief while dating in Fairmont Crest. Viewers will quickly notice his humor, sensuality, and honesty.

This marks Vilasuso’s fifth daytime television role having previously appeared as Rey Rosales on The Young and the Restless, Tony Santos on Guiding Light, Griffin Castillo on All My Children, and Dario Hernandez on Days of our Lives. Jordi also has appeared on the Emmy-winning streaming series The Bay in the role of Justin Ramos.

Previously, when news broke of Vilasuso’s casting, he took to his Instagram and shared, “Christmas came early this year! BEYOND grateful to be working with this fantastic cast and crew! Thank you Michele Val Jean for bringing me back to CBS! God bless you all for the support and can’t wait for you all to see a great story unfold on Beyond the Gates.

In a post over the holidays, Jordi and his wife Kaitlin revealed they had moved from Los Angeles to Nashville, Tennessee and were celebrating their first Christmas with their three children in their new home. With Beyond the Gates taping in Atlanta, Georgia, it’s much closer for Jordi than it would be living on the West Coast, so the timing of the his new role couldn’t have been better.

Previously, Vilasuso won the Daytime Emmy back in 2003 for his role as Tony on Guiding Light in the Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series. He was also nominated in the same category in 2002. He was later nominated in 2022 for his work as Rey on The Young and the Restless. You can check out the Michael Fairman Channel’s livestream with the nominated cast from Y&R from 2022 below which featured Jordi.

Now let us know, intrigued by Jordi’s new role as Grayson Perez on Beyond the Gates? Do you think Grayson will be the ultimate man for Ashley? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

omg Ashley easily the most boring person on the show !hope Jordy brings something here because honestly i watch the show everyday ! think Bill and T ed are fantastic but Andre Isaiah and Tomas not so much, they are boring !could someone explain what’s up with Greg Vaughan because that’s a lot of nothing too! i watch Behind the Gates everyday there is so much hype surrounding it i like the show but honestly am not in love with it ! lots of great characters like Anita Vernon Kat Dani Martin Smitty and Nicole and than there are others like the 3 guys i mentioned and Leslie i find her to be a one note villain that i’m not rooting for there’s no vulnerability! I’m not trying to put the show down i like it but there is a lot of hype and i feel if this was going on on the other shows there would be negative things said ! Wondering other opinions!

Karla mosley is great but I was expecting a really glamorous show and was disappointed. But most of the acting isn’t very good. It doesn’t deserve the hype but I will watch and see what happens

So I was so bored by the young and restless today I decided to watch Beyond the Gates. Most of the acting is bad except for Karla Mosley love her and the dialogue is a bit stilted. The sets look cheap too but that’s how most of these shows look. (There must have been a fire sale on fake flowers because Y&R is using boatloads of them to mask the lack of furniture.)

I didn’t see Tamara Tunie Bukett today but I will watch again.

I love jen Jacob too

So excited to see Jordi’s debut next week and I have a sneaking feeling that he will have outstanding chemistry with the marvellous Jen Jacob.

Scott. Nobody seems to notice the irony of the one white couple “forced” onto viewers. Growing up in the 60’s and 70’s black couples and characters weren’t a thing until The Doctors and Agnes Nixon, and STILL it was a novelty. NBC tried with Generations and couldn’t get it write or right. Now BTG is showing you CAN write for black characters in daytime and here’s a token white couple. It’s hilarious. Unfortunately the Derek actor simply can’t act. All that had wringing when Ashley asked him to move out… again, it was just uncomfortable to watch. She’ll work if he’s gone. I think P&G is intent on keeping him. Like when Harding Lemay wanted George Reinholdt and Jacqueline Courtney OFF AW as Steve and Alice because he hated both of their acting skills. Too be fair though, I really enjoyed Jacqueline Courtney when she came to OLTL as Pat. Especially when she played her psycho twin. But I digress. I’m just sure P&G are keeping the couple on soap and on air.

Interesting and beautifully written post. There was a black couple on GH in the early 80s named Brian and Claudia who served no purpose other than to act like some Shakespearean Chorus because all they did was talk about white characters while sitting in the hospital cafeteria holding hands. I was a kid at the time but even then I was wondering Brian and Claudia had no story of their own.

Now BTG has a strong foothold, I am sure there will be some settling of cast, character and story. This seems to happen with any new launch. I am happy that BTG is attracting some familiar daytime vets as the wonderful Jordi Vilasuso to add to the roster of actors who may not be familiar to a national audience. Show can only grow! (BTW, Y&R did Jordi Vilasuso no favors.)

Being in Atlanta surely allowed this show to happen and it is all well and good for me, but nothing will ever feel like those days when most soaps were New York-based. They had such an atmosphere even though the locales, other than Ryan’s Hope and The City, were not the Big Apple.

Well like guiding light was shot in New York but took place in a midwestern city and you felt like you were in the heartland. Omgosh I miss gl all the time

Shooting in Atlanta is probably as close as we’ll ever get to a New York-based soap, unfortunately.

All of the NYC soaps looked cheap when compared to the California soaps in their prime. The NYC soaps made up for it with better acting of course. The sets on BTG are fine as is the acting and the writing. The hype is well deserved because as a long time soap fan we were all tired of back from the dead stories, dime store secret agent stories, and never ending corporate takeover stories that made zero sense. Also reading the daily attacks on the same actors are getting kind of lame. It’s the same agenda crew targeting certain actors usually based on looks and race and it’s pretty disheartening. Get a life.

Unfortunately, vicious and mean attacks on actors will happen no matter the soap or forum for which it happens. It sucks, but it is the unfortunate nature of the beast with American soap viewers. It’s an underlying issue that goes deeper.

Really all he needs to be on screen Maybe shirtless , that’s all
