In a horrific apparent accident over the weekend on Saturday … fitness model- turned fitness expert – turned Bravo reality series star – Greg Plitt was killed when he was struck by a a Metrolink train in Burbank, California.  He was only 37 years old.  Greg had appeared on Bravo’s Work Out series.  Plitt also made appearances in daytime soaps in the role of  Henderson for three episodes on Days of our Lives during 2007 to 2008.

Police confirmed that Plitt was struck at 4:05 p.m. on the tracks at Front Street, just north of the Burbank Metrolink Station.  Sgt. Scott Meadows from the Burbank Police Department told PEOPLE that the death “appears to be an accident.”

In an update from TMZ late this afternoon:  “Cops say two men were filming Plitt on the tracks when the train conductor spotted him in the way. He attempted to stop and began sounding his horn — but Plitt remained on the tracks.
Investigators seized video of the incident as evidence.  There are also reports that Plitt have been filming some sort of fitness video near the tracks.  In another account, Metrolink passenger Victor Crowell told KABC 7 News: “He had on all black. The train went by. I saw him stumble over the tracks. He had a camcorder in his hand.”

A Bravo spokesperson related. “This is a terrible tragedy. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy are with Greg’s family and friends.”   Andy Cohen, former programming executive at Bravo and the host of Watch What Happens Live tweeted, “We couldn’t take our eyes off Greg Plitt after we cast him on Work Out – was as nice as he was beautiful.”

Plitt was also starring in Plitt in a docu-series, Friends to Lovers which just had its premiere last week!  Prior to becoming a fitness expert, Plitt worked as a U.S. Army Ranger after graduating from West Point in 2000.

A terrible loss that could have been prevented.

I just saw this on the NBC-4 news last night. They showed him doing push-ups on the tracks and an interview with family said he had a fascination with friends. That being said, has no one in the film industry learned anything from the “MIDNIGHT RIDER” tragedy last year?!

NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell Says Peacock Hit 18M Paid Subscribers Up From 15M In September

On Monday, during a webcast session at the UBS TMT investors conference, NBC Universal CEO, Jeff Shell shared that the NBCUniversal streaming service, Peacock has hit 18 million paid subscribers.

Interestingly, that is an uptick of 3 million paid subscribers since the end of September of this year, where the service had 15 million.

As soap fans know, Days of our Lives debuted exclusively in its new home on Peacock on September 12th, and viewers who watched on linear TV and NBC had to switch modes and pay-in for a subscription to watch the show.  However, there has been no quantifying data released on just how well DAYS is performing on the platform.

In terms of its sustainability and its ad-supported streaming platform, Shell added: “We were late coming into streaming, but we clearly chose the right business model.”  Shell noted that this strategy has helped offset declines in linear TV revenues, and a worsening advertising market.

The CEO went to explain: “We believe in the premium video ad-supported, dual revenue stream essential broadcast and cable on streaming, driven by key programming.” Shell also shared that declines in cable subscribers is putting pressure on affiliate fees and advertising rates, so it’s becoming more important than ever for Peacock revenues to offset falling cable TV revenues and that the TV ad business is “definitely getting worse.”

So, what do you think of the uptick of subscribers to Peacock since September? Is Days of our Lives a key player in this? Have you gotten use to watching your favorite soap on the streaming platform? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
