BREAKING NEWS: Finola Hughes Put On-Contract At General Hospital!

Courtesy/E!
General Hospital’s man-in-charge Frank Valentini, certainly knows he struck gold with the return of Finola Hughes to her Daytime Award winning role as Anna Devane! And today, he announced via his twitter page that he has signed Hughes to a contract! So unlike many of the fan favorites who have been ushered in for a short time to Port Charles, and then been shown the front door due to storyline dictated moves, Hughes is staying put!
Valentini tweeted, ” As for the GH casting news, thanks for waiting. I am so excited to announce the lovely Finola Hughes is now on contract!”
Fans have been clamoring to know what Valentini was referring to when he tweeted that he was “Crossing the T’s and I’s” with someone to appear on the show a few weeks back. From his new tweet, do you think Hughes is who he was referring to along along? Or, is there still someone else?
Whatever the case, we are thrilled that soap fans will get to see Finola’s remarkable run as Anna continue as she deals with the fallout from the “death” of her daughter Robin, and deepens her relationships with Luke Spencer and John McBain, whether it be personal or professional. Stay tuned!
How do you feel about the Finola annoucement? Let us know!
AWESOME NEWS!!!
EXCELLENT! Nobody but NOBODY knows how to use soap history better that Frank and Ron. They know how to use the rich storylines and the characters that made the shows great! Landing Finola is a slam dunk to bring the show back to what it was and steer AWAY from the mafia stories. With Felicia coming back all the show need now is Laura, Scott, BOBBIE, Seand and Tiffany and LUCY COE and find a way to reserect Alan Q and we’re good to go!!! GREAT JOB MEN!!! You did it on OLTL you can do it to GH!
This is wonderful news, Finola has been awesome in her scenes with Patrick, Luke,Emma and even John. So happy she is staying on…in addition to the names that Joe said, would also like to see Lucky, Nic and Rik come back!
Yep, I hear you on bringing back some of the old characters like Scotty and Lucy Coe. Those were the days of GH! GH has been more interesting with Finola in it. She’s come back before but for short periods. A nice term contract role should help pull GH up and kick up the drama level.
By the way, I’ve really enjoyed Soapnet’s late nite oldies reruns of AMC, OLTL and GH. Does anyone know if there are episode guides to these shows? I see no info on Soapnet beyond the schedule.
It was recently reported the KS/Scott Baldwin will not be returning to GH as of yet.
Soapnet went off for me a week ago. It makes me sick to see another kids channel on in its place! That makes about 20 24hr channels just for kids! It’s all to sell products!
SHE IS OK, BUT I WANT TREVOR ST JOHN!!!!!!
So do I!
Me to.
my first instinct was that it was originally something else and he’s just trying to shut us up from hounding him about it lol, but truth be told there could be no better news than Finola Hughes sticking around, so this customer is satisfied!!! 🙂
Yay!! She is the best.
HOT DAMN !!!! LOVE Finola/Anna!! She has been amazing on the show (then AND now) and I love the storylines they are throwing her way. Robins death, Lukes friend and now McBains long lost bureau buddy; she is just amazing. Yippeeeeee!!!!
LOL… I was about say same thing as you are..HOT DOG DAMN!!! LOL.. I just love Finola Hughes doing great job to being good performance on GH.. I really like it!!
Yay! I love her chemistry with Luke……and John McBain. Luke’s jealously was great. Finola improves every scene she is in. This is great news.
YES,YES,YES,I am so happy about this ,I like her so much,This was the crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s wait and it was worth it ,This is great ,I had a feeling when she said to patrick She would like to stay for her grand daughter .Way to go Frank ,this is really good news.
Great News! My first and favorite heroine of all time, the one I strived to be like, Anna Devane will now stay put in PC. Finola has been simply awesome on GH no matter who she’s been sharing scenes with. Congratulations Finola on your contract, it’s been long overdue!
Great News!!!!!!!
I am so thrilled that Finola Hughes has been put on contract! I can’t wait to see what adventures lie ahead for Anna Devane!
This is the best news to come out of GH in a very long time! Finola has been phenomenal and she brings so much to the show. I’m glad she’s back where she belongs and that Anna is being written true to character!
FANtastic news! Finola Hughes is phenominal and I’m very happy she’s sticking around.
Good news for GH. If Kimberly (Robin) cannot be present having Finola is the next best thing. Anna is a warm, smart, positive character everyone can like and Finola is a fine actress.
Great news! Like Tony Geary, Finola makes every other actor better, every scene she’s in compelling.
WooHoo!!! Excellent!!! So glad she is staying for awhile she is awesome!!! Hugely talented and she continues to look like she has not aged a bit! Way to go GH!!!
This legacy OLTL viewer is thrilled that FV and RC recognize talent when they see it. I’m still kind of pinching myself that FH is back on contract. Amazing news!
Excellent. Now if only ABC/D will let the fans know GH’s fate.
Finola staying on GH? EXCELLENT! Just another indication that the show is moving in the right direction! Love Anna Devane and am so happy that this show is being produced with a bit more balance than before. Mob, Scmob. Enough already!
Best News to come out of GH in a long time! Anna Devane has been sorely missed. She has chemistry with everyone!
Well said. Go GH!
Okay….I guess the old days are coming back. Still like to hear Brandon Buddy coming, Hope too…
Van Hughes will be returning if Cole is resurrected.
Awesome news!!!! Welcome back Finola!
omg omg omg omg, somebody really is listening, this is great news, and so obvious, thank the gods of the uniververse that GH saw this too. i’m so happy!
I feel the same! It’s like someone is listening! Now if they’d just listen to the calls for the return of Robert, some Q characters, Bobbie, Lucy, etc. Then I’d really be in heaven!
Great News! I love her and she really is a good actress and she proves there is life after 50. But I will be honest just a platonic friendship with Luke please!!!!! John McBain I see them leaning more towards Sam with him just a guess from Michael Easton’s comments in interviews I do not think they are bringing anymore OLT L characters over.
Kay you are right luke and anna just friends ,leave it that way,Bring dr.david hayward to work at general hospital ,those two were good together on all my children.Hated when finola huges left all my children ,david and anna were hot.
I agree with you,Barbie.. thank for complient about revolution can kiss our butts.
Hopefully we will be seeing Victor and Tea from OLTL at least and possibly Blair on recurring if KdP doesn’t want to move west, and they have also been figuring out what to do with Ted King as Alcazar/Tomas…
Finola Hughes on contract with GH! Welcome home, Finola, Welcome Home! Finally, someone doing the right thing by GH fans! Great news all the way around. This gives me hope that the new regime at GH really does care about the show and, it’s history and it’s fans!
Finally, someone got it right! Finola has been and is a strong, lovely, sensitive actress. She really doesn’t seem like she changed at all after all these years. What a welcome addition to GH. Now, they have to give her story to keep her there..Don’t mess this up guys……
Good move, Frank. So glad to hear this news. I am also glad to see law enforcement front and center on this show. Hopefully, the lifetime incarceration of Sonny is not too far on the horizon.
Glad to see Finola staying…Would still love to see Natalie come to be with John. Love the storyline with Anna and John.
Good news, great move by GH. Love Finola! It’s just a shame they couldn’t have also signed Tristan Rogers to a contract when he was around, as well.
Excellent news!!! Finola is such a talented actress. GH and the fans are lucky to have her in the kick ass role of Anna. The possibilities for storylines are endless!
excellent news finola hughes is a great actress. general hospital made a really smart move in signing her to a contract. now bring back jack wagner to a contract.
I am beyond happy that Finola Hughes is on contract. I LOVE her. What a timeless beauty! So happy that I will get to be seeing her more often.
But I strongly doubt that was the BIG signing news because Finola was already working. It had to be someone that wasn’t on the set yet. I had heard it was Melissa Archer, but rumor is that she does not want to do daytime anymore. So many rumors. I just take everything with a huge boulder of salt. Who could it be? I think everything depends on HOW long GH is saved. If it lasts through the summer, that is one scenario and certain talent would be called to wrap it up. If it were to last through December or another year, well then you can take your time (i.e., Tristan Rogers, Kimberly McCullough, Jonathan Jackson, Genie Francis) and you don’t have to be in such a hurry to wrap things up to give every one their happy ending, so to speak, because the talent has other obligations.
Love MA, but Natalie needs to be kept as far away from John McBain as possible. I hope they don’t screw that up…
Finola Hughes on contract is the best news in years! She is too talented to let her go!
I am thrilled. I just hope there is a GH for her to be on contract to, for years to come.
WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! This is VERY good news, indeed!!! That’s one step in the right direction, Frank Valentini!! Now if she could just take down Sonny Corinthos, that would be the icing on the cake.
I am sooooooooo happy that Finola is staying put in Port Charles. Can Tristan Rogers PLEASE come back as well.
This is awesome news…I’ve been enjoying watching Finola work her magic as Anna. She gives a powerful performance no matter who she’s in scenes with. I like that they have Anna & McBain as former colleagues & look forward to more of their sleuthing together. Thanks to Frank Valentini for signing her on!
Yippee! GH gets better everyday since Ron & Frank took over! I stil miss OLTL (&AMC) more than I can say!
Finola is in a class with Erica Slezak on OLTL. She truly does improve everybody she’s in a scene with. Michael Easton was one of my least favorite actors on OLTL…he always seemed to be sleepwalking through his scenes…but on GH I’ve seen some life in him…especially with Finola! This is great news for GH!
I totally agree! Excellent news!
Great news! LOVE the chemistry between her character and Michael Easton’s made even more interesting with the inclusion of Tony Geary’s “Luke Spencer”.
Thats what I love about Finola huges, she makes everyone look good she is one of the best actresses ever on general hospital, always a favorite of mine. Now we need to hear good news that general hospital is here to stay and not getting cancelled.
Absolutely! Has anyone heard an update regarding GH’s status other than Katie wanting it as her lead in?
No,And I wish we would hear something ,Unless the sneaky mouse network is waiting to cancel so they dont have to listen to us soap fans complain.maybe they are waiting till the last second then hit us with the bad news.I dont understand why they wont just say general hospital stays and the revolution goes.
Great news! I just really hope she doesn’t hook up with Luke.
I’m super excited about Finola Hughes being signed to a contract! I have been looking for something to draw me back to GH for a long time now and so far she is it!
YAY!!!! BEST NEWS EVER! Everyone LOVES ANNA! She is the femaie counterpart to Luke in popularity!
I am very happy to hear that Finola will be sticking around GH. This news and this action has been a long time coming and it’s been amazing having her back. With her back, GH is suddenly entertaining again and her acting is always stellar.
I am one of those folks who have waited nearly a decade to see Finola back on GH and back in true Anna form. I’m so excited to not only see her on contract now, but I am very happy the way she’s been written since her return. The woman can turn mush to gold, but it’s wonderful that she’s had some really great stuff to work with! I really look forward to see what comes next for Anna as she deals with life without Robin (for now) and life back in Port Charles. Kudos to the GH brass for recognizing that you need the best to get this show back on track!
This is the best news to come out of ABC daytime in ages! Love Finola. She is an amazing actress and has the best sense of comedic timing. I’m enjoying watching the lighter side of Anna and Luke especially after the heartwrenching scenes she had for weeks on end after Robin “died”.
Finola Hughes back on GH is the sole reason I am watching this show again. It has a long way to go to be really good, but my God some of ther scenes have been so fantastic. Once again, with her, we have been taken on a roller coaster ride through emotionville. She has ripped our hearts out and she has made us laugh. If GH had been willing to keep this caliber of talent around from the get-go, they might not be in the mess they are in today.
Did you see the post that Matthew Ashford & Sarah Brown were let go from Days?
Not that I’ve watched Days, but now GH can bring Matthew Ashford back ! He’d fit in even better now that he’s GH & OLTL alumni. He was Drew Ralston on OLTL 1982 – 1983, Tom Hardy on GH 1995 -1997, and then again on OLTL as serial killer Dr. Stephen Haver from 2003 – 2004.
And boy, he and Kristina Wagner had some hot scenes together when Tom Hardy was dating Felicia!
Ms. Brown could come back again as a 3rd character – but let’s not make her a mob related character this time! ha!
Yay Finola!! So happy! 🙂

‘General Hospital’s’ Steve Burton Shares Reaction to His Lead Actor Daytime Emmy Nomination, ‘It Was to Honor Leslie Charleson’

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations kicked-off on Monday with the announcements of four major categories including, Outstanding Lead Performer in a Daytime Drama Series — Actor, and among the nominees is General Hospital’s Steve Burton (Jason Morgan).
Burton is already a two-time Daytime Emmy winner in the Supporting Actor category for his roles as GH’s Jason and his turn as Dylan McAvoy on Y&R. However, Steve is yet to win in the Lead Actor category and he has received 11 nominations along the way in his daytime career.
Following the reveal that he is a 2026 Daytime Emmy nominee, he and his GH co-star, podcast co-host and comedy show partner, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) taped a special edition of their That’s Awesome podcast just featuring Burton’s reaction to the news.

FOR LESLIE CHARLESON
Steve expressed, “I know it’s such a cliche to say, ‘I’m just so honored to be nominated.’ But truly, I’m so grateful to be nominated, so grateful to just be on the show off and on for 30 plus years and to be nominated with the guys in my category. Just to get the opportunity. Frank (Valentini, executive producer, GH) texted me right away. I was just like, ‘Thank you for the opportunity to get to do what I do.'”
Taking in the moment, Burton thanked those who helped him select the material for his nominated reel. “Unless you win, you don’t get to say things. So. I’m going just say a few things: Elizabeth Korte (co-head writer, GH) helped me a lot with the material, (as did) Michelle Henry, who’s a producer on the show, Laura Wright (Carly, GH), and then my wife Michelle (Lundstrom). I believe it was Jill Phelps who told me that when A Martinez felt like he had a great show or great scenes, he would mark it down. So, when Emmy time comes, you have all the show numbers written down, and you don’t have to think about it, because that’s half the battle (finding the material).
Burton explained how meaningful this nomination is for him, because of playing the scenes of Jason losing Monica, and his closeness with the late, great Leslie Charleson.
“The nomination’s an amazing thing, and it’s beautiful, but really it’s to honor Leslie Charleson. A lot of my material was because of her, and how I started on the show as a Quartermaine, it just means a ton,” shared Burton. “Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH) has obviously has been instrumental, and I’ve said it from day one and I’ll shout it from the rooftops. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here, and to be working with the people that we work with is incredible.”

SHOULD JOHN OLIVER BE NAMED HOST OF THE DAYTIME EMMYS?
During the end of his conversation with Anderson, Steve suggested that the host of the Daytime Emmy should be Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver, who recently guest starred as the head of the WSB named Z on General Hospital, and is soon to show up on Days of Our Lives in a mystery role in August.
Thus far, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has not revealed their host for the upcoming ceremony to be held on October 30 in a venue to be named in Hollywood, California.
You can watch Steve sharing his reaction to receiving his 2026 Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination below on a special segment on the That’s Awesome podcast.
Now let us know, are you glad that Steve chose scenes surrounding Jason mourning the loss of the woman that raised him, Monica Quartermaine for his Emmy reel? What do you think of John Oliver as a suggestion to host the Daytime Emmys? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
