Brooklyn Rae Silzer Breaks Silence on ‘General Hospital’ Recasting the Role of Emma Drake
On Monday December 23rd, General Hospital fans learned the news that Robin (Kimberly McCullough) and Patrick’s (Jason Thompson) daughter was coming back to Port Charles to spend the holidays with her grandmother Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), but also for a much longer stay.
Fans of the soap also learned that actress Braedyn Bruner has taking over the role from Brooklyn Rae Silzer. Since 2011, Silzer has played the role on and off. She last appeared as Emma back in 2023. Throughout the years, viewers saw Brooklyn grow up right before their eyes.
Now in a heartfelt farewell to the GH faithfuls, Brooklyn took to social media to address her exit and the recasting of the role of Emma. Silzer’s message began with: “A little note to my General Hospital family and fans who have loved me over the years. B xoxo.”

She then followed it with: “To my amazing General Hospital family who have supported me and watched me grow up over the years as Emma I am forever grateful. Although sad my time as Emma has come to an end I will cherish all of my memories and friendships made. I am so lucky to have been casted as Emma 13 years ago and to have had the opportunity to grow her character over the years.”
Giving a nod to her successor in the role, Braedyn Bruner, Silzer added, “I am so excited to see how Braedyn takes care of Emma and bring new layers to her character.” In the final part of her goodbye, Brooklyn noted, “I am forever thankful for General Hospital and Emma will always hold a special place in my heart. ”

Back in November of 2023 on her last visit to GH, she expressed at the time, “It was just cool to see how they’re developing Emma’s character. She’s not that different, but she has evolved from when she was little.” Silzer’s return coincided with the 10th anniversary of when Emma sees Robin is alive during the wedding of Patrick and Sabrina (Teresa Castillo).
At the time of that return, Brooklyn shared. “Ive been applying for nursing school. That takes up most of my time. I’m taking pretty hard classes this year, but I’m hoping to stay local for college, maybe I can come visit General Hospital more often. That would be really cool.”
Throughout her run as Emma, she earned a Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series category back in 2016.
So, are you sad to know that Brooklyn will not be returning to play Emma Drake? What do you think about the sentiments she shared to the GH fan? Will you give the new Emma, Braedyn Bruner, a chance to make the role her own? Comment below.
It sounds that the original emma has left acting for nursing. Good for her. I’m actually tired of new cast’s on GH. I liked the old lulu better. And gh QUIT killing every one bring DEX back. You are loosing viewers because of your stupid choices.
You need to grow up. ALL OF OUR CURRENT CAST, WITH VERY FEW EXCEPTIONS, WERE NEW OR RECASTS AT SOME POINT!!! Get over it…this is the way of soaps!
Good luck to Brooklyn in her new role as future real life nurse. And good luck to Braedyn on her new role as future fake doctor (I assume Robin & Patrick’s kid will become a dr). I hope the “fans” give this young lady a chance. I’ve already seen plenty of hate. Sad to see 50-60 year olds attacking a 20 something for getting a job…
I hope Emma follows in grandma and grandpa footsteps and becomes a spy.
Ain’t that the truth… about the “aging” soap fans who use Mr. Fairman’s site to express negative views… and against each other too. It is not even healthy debating. Should you express a different point of view…watch out!
I am over all the recasts also. It’s ridiculous. Why bother to do that when you have great actors who made the roll and they are good enough to develop into the the people written by the writers? Ugh. I’m so over it. Enough with the death and dismissal too.
I really miss the old Emma, the new one is very hard to like….. I hope it is just for a short time until the real Emma comes back!
She’s been only on one episode, let’s give the new Emma a week or so before making judgement calls.
Hard to like, in less than 5 minutes? You are nutter than the Christmas fruitcake!

Vincent Pastore of ‘Sopranos’ Fame and ‘General Hospital’s’ Maximus Giambetti Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.
The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.
As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL
Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)
According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”
Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.
Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.
In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.
Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
