Chandra Wilson Returns To GH For The Nurses’ Ball

Grey’s Anatomy favorite, Chandra Wilson is checking back in for a guest appearance on General Hospital, but with a twist.  She won’t be reprising either of the roles she played before on the ABC daytime drama series.

Look for Wilson, who plays Dr. Miranda Bailey on ‘Grey’s’, to arrive for the annual GH Nurses’ Ball when she appears on the upcoming May 17th episode.

In it, she will take on the role of  Sydney Val Jean, the east coast fashion editor at Crimson magazine who will appear alongside editor-in-chief Nina Clay-Cassadine (Michelle Stafford) on the Nurses’ Ball red carpet.  Look for those two to go at in their commentary!

Previously, Wilson’s Port Charles stints have included roles as s one of Kevin’s patients, then as a marriage and family therapist.

PEOPLE.com first reported the news.   ‘Grey’s’ literally films next door to GH on the production lot in Los Angeles.

So what do you think of Wilson playing character number 3 on GH? Comment below.

I think she’s great and its now her “thing” to appear on GH as different characters, maybe one year all her characters can appear in one episode.

I dont really look forward to The Nurses Balls anymore..there are a few rare good moments but most in recent years seem more like Wrecking Balls to me…and doesnt Oscar die after he performs at the ball???

Amen, Jimh! “Wrecking Ball” is a very apt description of this over-hyped non-event which hasn’t been worth watching since the 50th anniversary celebration. Even that one was nothing to write home about—-storyline-wise—but at least it featured many of GH’s best characters from the past, which made it memorable. Since then, this yearly debacle has been nothing but a highly-amateurish mess that has failed to utilize the show’s most talented performer, bar none….Kathleen Gati’s hilarious Dr. O.! Put that spectacular crazy lady back in the NB spotlight where she belongs!!!!

Yes…KG needs to be a regular…

She certainly does, Jimh! Dr. O. remains the most creative and memorable character to come out of GH’s last five or six years, and as such, should be treated as the true treasure that she is in the uber-capable hands of Kathleen Gati! Liesl’s NB appearances are still some of the most unforgettable moments that perennial event has ever seen, and why she has not been afforded the opportunity to “crash” the stage each and every year in her own inimitable fashion is beyond me! Her cool and cunning machinations in order to always end up in the spotlight should… Read more »

I love Chandra and appreciate that she loves the soaps! I also think it’s kind of funny that she’s been on GH three times as three different characters. Will there be a fourth? And will she set some sort of record in due course? Stay tuned.

Jimh,and suOOO too,
Have been watching Grey’s Anatomy for years now. Thurs.nights. Try it, you’ll like it. I have to turn away during the O.R scenes though. I don’t like all the blood and guts. The personal SLs are really good, ongoing like a Soap.

I watch those too. Never get tired of them, no matter how many times I’ve seen them.

I wish the powers that be would spend the money they spend on stunt casting to make the Nurses Ball look like there are more than 12 people in attendance. Also…now is it mandatory that every action packed climax takes place on the same bridge with the same lower level for a pregnant damsel in distress? I am loving the writing on GH right now though! I don’t like all of the stories…but these writers are masters at layering stories and characters in slowly…and then weaving them into umbrella stories. I like the cult story! Its dark and disturbing…but its… Read more »

I love the “Chief” at Grey Sloan Memorial . She can play any part she wants to.

Marcus Coloma On His GH Exit: “I Don’t Know Why That Decision Was Made, But I Don’t Feel Any ill Will and I Didn’t Feel I Got Fired”

This week, GH fans saw Adam Huss returning to the ABC soap opera as Nikolas Cassadine to finish out the rest of the scenes originally intended to be played by Marcus Coloma who ended his three-year run on the show a tad early.

As has been previously reported, Coloma came down with Covid-19 as his final tape days neared, and a decision was made for him to not return to finish off his last run of episodes.

With all the rumors and stances taken by everyone involved, Coloma was the special guest on this week’s episode of the That’s Awesome Podcast hosted by Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson and discussed his departure from the long-running daytime drama series.

Marcus expressed that when he took the role on GH, he was excited to be in that kind of environment (working on a soap opera), and only signed on for three years.  However, as time went by it became more difficult to reconcile leaving when his contract was up, sharing: “You fall in love with the crew and everybody along with it. So, two and a half years in, this decision that was so clear in the beginning is getting complicated.”

The actor added that while, “I knew the end was coming, it wasn’t like GH was saying, ‘Hey, Marcus, we want you to stay.’  There was no negotiation … and all I can say to that is I don’t know why that decision was made, but I don’t feel any ill will and I didn’t feel like I got fired. It just felt like … there was maybe an understanding that I was going to be there for three years. The big surprise is how much it hurt. Even though I knew I was going to leave.”

In the end, Coloma reflected that this may have concluded as it should, adding, “I really do have some big goals and those goals would have never been realized if I would have stayed. That’s not to take anything away from GH because I admire everything about it.”

Watch the episode of That’s Awesome featuring Coloma below.

Then weigh-in, what do you think of Marcus’ thoughts on his exit as GH’s Nikolas Cassadine? Share your thoughts in the comment section.

Adam Huss Back to GH as Nikolas Cassadine

With Marcus Coloma’s last appearance as Nikolas Cassadine on last week’s January 26th episode of General Hospital, the soap opera brought back Adam Huss to finish out the dark prince’s storyline.

According to Soaps.com. Huss aired today on the January 31st episode of the ABC daytime drama series and will finish out the scenes that were written to be portrayed by Coloma.

Adam previously subbed for Coloma back in September 2021 and again in November 2022.

After it was announced that Coloma was leaving GH, the network and the series agreed that it would be best that Marcus did come in to tape his last episodes since he was recovering from Covid-19 at the time.  Thus, we are seeing those episodes featuring Huss now airing in early February.

So, glad to see Adam back to wrap Nikolas’ current storyline? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

General Hospital Alum Annie Wersching Dead at 45

In very sad news on Sunday, actress Annie Wersching, who starred in the series 24, Bosch and Timeless, and portrayed Amelia Joffe on General Hospital, passed away this morning from cancer.  Annie was only 45-years-0ld.

Deadline broke the news of Annie’s death.  In a statement, Wersching’s husband, actor Stephen Full, shared: “There is a cavernous hole in the soul of this family today. But she left us the tools to fill it. She found wonder in the simplest moment. She didn’t require music to dance. She taught us not to wait for adventure to find you. ‘Go find it. It’s everywhere.’ And find it we shall. As I drove our boys, the true loves of her life, down the winding driveway and street, she would yell BYE! until we were out of earshot and into the world. I can still hear it ringing. Bye my Buddie. ‘I love you little family…’ ”

Wersching’s first major role came as Amelia Joffe on General Hospital.  She played the role from May to September of 2007.  Amelia came to Port Charles to seek revenge on Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) and wound up lovers with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

Later, she went on to star as Renee Walker in Seasons 7 and 8 of 24.  She also appeared in The Vampire Diaries, Runaways, Extant, and The Rookie.  One of her last roles was in Star Trek: Picard which came two decades after she made her screen acting debut in an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise.

Annie is survived by her husband and children children Freddie, 12; Ozzie, and Archie, 4.
