DAYS Alison Sweeney Shares Thoughts On Playing Sami's Reaction To EJ's Death & Counts Down Top Five EJami Moments!

Alison Sweeney (Sami, DAYS) has been holding back to share her “DAYS of Sami” facebook countdown related to her favorite EJami moments! That is because as long time fans of the duo have witnessed, EJ (James Scott) has been murdered and Sami is reeling and grieving!
Today, Alison posted this: “So, hi EJami fans – yup, it’s me. not sure if you even want to read my #DaysofSami blog today, or if perhaps you can’t because your eyes are bloodshot? I know that I for one, had to lie down with a pounding headache and drink a gallon of water after filming the scenes from today’s episode. But now you know, I had to wait until now to publish my top EJami moments because I thought it might be the right time to look back over this troubled, emotional, stubborn couple’s journey. (And just as a reminder – for those whose loyalty perhaps lies in a different direction. Please be respectful of my intentions for my posts this week and refrain from any anti-Ejami opinions here. Thanks!)”
As for her new countdown – for starters in at #5 was – EJ and Sami tango contest at the pier! Alison explained: “Now of course, I wouldn’t have traded playing Sami for anyone, but certainly, there was a time when it did seem like everyone else got to do the sappy romantic stuff. So, when i read in the script that EJ & Sami were going to participate in a tango contest on the pier? are you kidding me?! I was freakin’ thrilled. I was super psyched to show up a few extra times for rehearsals with our fantastic choreographer, Christy C.Buss. And boy, did she put us to work. learning the dance, understanding the moves, we definitely got a workout in those rehearsals. And it was just as fun and challenging as I’d hoped it would be. James and I worked hard to learn it enough that we were able to just go through the dance once we were out there on stage. And it turned out great, right?! What a fun memory for me as well as the characters, I’m glad we were able to bring it up again a few times in our last few episodes together.”

So I’ve enjoyed Ali’s lists up until now. I’ve watched Days for four decades now and Sami was always a character I was fond of. When Ali posted Lumi moments she said be nice to her co-stars. which was understandable given how poorly some of her fans were treating all of her co-stars not named James Scott. When she posted Safe, she didn’t add any extra requests. Many fans from other ships posted in those threads with no respect for the subject. It happens, but NOW she’s asking the non-ejami fans to go away because it’s finally a subject that she cares about? Nice. Wasn’t the SOD interview where she made it clear that Sami’s ending was just for ejami fans, enough? Am I understanding the message correctly Ms. Sweeney? If we’re not ejami fans, we don’t matter? Maybe that’s not your intent. I hope that’s not your intention, but that sure is how it feels.
No, she didn’t say that at all. You’ve projected your own feelings so that you can continue your own mindset.
Maybe she asked because of those who can’t separate fiction from real life and call EJami fans supporters of rape or rapemance lovers or whatever other vulger things some like to throw out there. The writing for EJami is different than that of Lumi or Safe, so that may have been the reasoning behind asking people to be respectful. Alison has always been really good about not naming a favorite couple. She has done these countdowns for the three that probably have the biggest followings. She didn’t have to do these, but they have been fun. I for one will just appreciate that and not question her every move.

And you forgot Brandon who was also a really great and fun Sami pairing..i love Ejami but Brandon and Sami dance on the roof at Halloween was very sexy and cute, at the same time. Ali Sweeney can create solid chemistry with many of her costars.
really?? Get over it! I am SURE,she didn’t mean it the way you mistook it! It seems that the final coupling for her at this point is EjAmi..I am sure that is what she meant. Ejamis’ have been through a rollacoaster of surprises over the last 7-8yrs.When Ejami finally seems to be getting the MUCH deserved Happy Ever After EJAMILY is leaving the show! Im sure she was lifting her Ejamis’ spirits.. To me she seems to Love ALL of her Fans!!

How unfair you are. Ali Sweeney ALWAYS gave equal attention to her three most popular fanbases pairings (Lumi, Ejami, Safe), she is maybe the soap actress who has been the most respectful to fanbases. Sadly some fans (thankfully it is just ‘some’ fans) attack her again and again because they want to be exclusive and some few (i hope) cray can’t separate fiction from reality..attacking her like she is Sami..

OMG she did NOT say that at all. She’s knows it’s a hot topic and she wants it to be respectful and not a bashing session. She asked basically if you can’t say something nice, say nothing at all. Way to twist it into something ugly~ actually proving her correct, some folks just don’t know how to be nice!
First of all, she DID NOT say that. Second, right after I read it I thought to myself how nasty the other fan bases are to the EJami fan base and she obviously knows that herself so that’s why put that in her post. That hook up fan base has actually turned on James because of his SOD interview. They are name calling and wanting a recast. They’ve been bashing Alison all along so I wasn’t surprised. Some people are just bitter and hate EJami wth blind hatred without ever even watching them and FF through their scenes. Boy, did they miss out. I guess the ratings are going to show that in the future.

Oh for Pete’s sake, really? That’s what you’ve taken away from what Ali Sweeney said. She’s been gracious and kind to ALL her fans. Maybe the operative word here is “her” fans. If she hasn’t already, no doubt she’ll give due respect to fans of all her couples, including Austin.
I think the fact she did countdowns for every fan base says she cares about every fan base. She probably saw the trolls on the safe posts and didn’t want the same for ejami posts. I doubt she paid a bunch of people to attack safe fans. I think you are over reacting or reading too much into things. Anyways, Allison Sweeney thank you for your dedication to all fan bases and putting your all into your acting.
Awe the Tango…such a special moment and so fun. I have so many special EJami moments it’s hard to narrow it down! These two are just AMAZING screen partners. Each and every one of their scenes are so believable to watch. Whether they are sparring or loving you feel ALL the emotions. One of my favourites tho is the scene in the pub when EJ tells Sami that he will lie to his father about their marriage. Sami asks him why and he tells her because he loves her and wanted the chance to prove it to her. Prove it he did and they will certainly go down as the last super couple of Days. I will truly truly miss seeing both Alison Sweeney and James Scott on my screen. Thanks for the fabulous memories!
She’s not asking anyone to go away, she’s asking everyone to be respectful. (Thanks for honoring her request by the way.) The Lumi/EJAMI battle was much, much bigger than anything involving Safe and there’s no need to rehash it all. She didn’t have to do these lists. She did them to give each fanbase some love. Why can’t that be enough?
Finally!!!! Although perhaps a little too late. No other fan base has been as abused as ejamis even when the leading actors knew they wanted their characters together. James and Ali’s characters had to go through “filler” relationships to create “drama. Some worked Safe, Lumi, and Ejole while some missed the mark Ejaylor and Abifail. I’m all for good drama just not sloppy or lazy writing after we had dialogue after dialogue about EJ’s love then he trips and falls into Abigail?!?! (A character I was beginning to love until you turned her into a sex crazed maniac going after married men. Austin was enough.) I stopped watching in January and watch YouTube for clips of my favs such as Thrady and Ejami and Chabby. We already knew it and thanks for validating Ejami. My favorite moments were the tango, any time they fought to make out, when EJ realized he still loved Samantha (baby switch plot), Samantha proving EJ’s innocence, EJ begging his father to help him save Samantha.

Personally, I have found all of Ali’s lists to be wonderful. She has loved every part of her character that she has played so well over the last 21 years. If you can’t appreciate the time and dedication she has taken to take a trip down the memory lane of Sami as a whole, then I don’t see how you can possibly be a fan of AS. Which makes me wonder: why you would even care what she posts at all, much less take the time to criticize it publicly? As far as my favorite EJAMI moment goes: When EJ told her he loves “the good, the bad, and everything in between…I love it all.” That is what true love is. Something no other man had ever given her.

Nice, Ali. So those of us who have been fans of yours for far longer than James was even on the show are just supposed to sit to the side and shut up while you continue to emphasize that any fan who isn’t an ejami fan doesn’t matter.

I am a fan of Ej and Sami and their pairing, actually they were the reason i watched this soap opera but i can admit one or two characters doesn’t make a show, certainly the show will go on without them. Although i will not watch anymore (my choice, i prefer primetime) i know many will still watch. Just hope for them the storytelling will improve.
Are you saying the Ejami fans only? If so, you’re wrong. There are a lot of Ejami fans, but a lot of those fans also like other characters and storylines on DAYS.

Exactly right. Like or hate any pairing, it takes an ensemble to build a soap. Bitter fighting and name calling our talented and hard-working actors just guarantees that your favorites will eventually not have a show to appear in. I’m with Ali. It’s not that hard to be respectful. And those who demand respect but cannot seem to give it simply do not understand the concept. Loved EJami from Day One! Ali and James had such range, chemistry, acting chops. They had too many fantastic scenes to pick a favorite.
My favorite Jumanji…er…Ejami moment is NOW…its over…let the stars shine on some other characters for a change…lol…i was a Sami and Lucas fan and was only ok with Sami and E.J. here and there but im not too BIG on a couple when he ‘rapes her’ and she ‘shoots him’…thats not romance to me!!! Go ahead EJami fans…make my day and let your angery hateful rebuttal begins…sticks and stones, i say…LOL!!!
No angry hate here. We are all different and will like pairings not all will agree on. I love EJami, that doesn’t mean I sit around and talk negatively about Lumi or Safe fans, it really is to each their own. I only take exception when someone who doesn’t know me calls me a supporter of rape just because I support a fictional soap couple. First of all i would never call Ejami fans supporter of rape…i couldve been a big supporter of their coupling myself had the two things i object to never happen: the rape and his shooting…it makes me hard to vision them as a romantic couple after that…both actors have had some amazing emmy nominated scenes…i wanted to love them as a couple but for the reasons i explained i just cant, and that doesnt mean i think Ejami fans are rape supporters and i would never call any of their fans names…i actually liked Sami with Lucas and E.J. with Nicole…some didnt and i never complain about it! And if both actors return in the future as guest or long term id be fine with that…they are both great actors…i just think knowing they are leaving i want to get it over and see how the others will do without them…and thats what i meant!!!

It kind of looks like we both misunderstood each others comments so i apologize to you…sometimes my comments dont come out exactly as i think them…im not totally anti Ejami…i was just pointing out the two things i disliked about the pairing especially the rape part…i felt the same with GHs Luke and Laura…here are two great couples but the writers both ruined them for me to accept them as 100% romantic couple…i do like the actors and dont have anything against their fans…also when i said im glad they are over…i didnt mean it to come off as harsh…just want to see how the other characters are given the chance to move more front and center and how it plays out without Ejami…i understand your dislike for it when someone accuses Ejami fans rape supporters…i find it disrespectful and totally uncalled for just like when similiar responses happen to me over something i like or dislike…i guess once in awhile it happens to all of us and its best not to let it get the best of us if we can help it…take care and happy Days watching!!!
I can’t say that I disagree with you, jimh. I was never an EJAMI fan. I liked EJ with Nicole. I thought she could “match” him because she is quick-witted and street smart. Even though I have never been an EJAMI fan, I thought their last few scenes were very touching and the hospital scenes did bring a tear to my eye. I also think Ali has been very respectful to the character that she has played for over two decades, her co-stars, the writers, and the show as a whole.
I find Sami as much quick-witted and street smart as Nicole..shrug.
But i can respect your taste, we don’t share the same tastes, no big deal.
And at least you don’t use the tiring hypocritical ‘i don’t like Ejami because they are toxic, they did that and that to each others’ drivel that many of their detractors used for years now..when they loved these two characters with characters who had also a ‘toxic’ history and did that and that to each others (for example Sami and Ej’s history/past with Lucas and Nicole).
Well i just explained above to another above what my comment meant…i just want there departure over so the other characters can have a shot to shine…i too loved E.J. and Nicole together…and i agree both Allison and James had some wonderful scenes together and should be emmy nominated next year!!!
Jimh – I’m an EJami with no stones to throw. I sincerely hope that now that the EJami era on Day has ended that you get the show that you’ve been hoping for. I’ve loved EJami in spite of the insults hurled my way for years for being a fan of a fictional couple. I wouldn’t trade those years of EJami fandom for anything.
I was entertained by the couple but i just wasnt a big fan…dont get my comments misunderstood…i know they were popular and i wasnt insulting any fan…knowing they are leaving i just want it over to see how the other characters work without them…thats all…and i never threw any insults at anyone who like the couple…everyone has favorites…the actors were great and i wouldnt mind seeing both return in the future…its just that i feel that several characters were neglected and poorly underused and i just want to see how it goes without E.jami…

Wow some Ejami fans cant seperate fact from fiction and i knew id recieve some cleverly written rebuttals that would attempt to ‘hide’ the ‘hate’ but i can tell its there: if you are a Ejami fan im fine with it…fans have their likes and dislikes…i wasnt trying to get Ejami fans to agree with me…just explaining why i couldnt fully accept them as a couple…i felt the actors gave great emmy nominated performances…they entertained me at times and i wouldnt mind seeing them return in the future…i only tried to explain why i couldnt completely accept them as a couple…i guess it wasnt plain and simple as i thought…

Sami and Lucas did not come to an end because or after all the shit they did to each others..actually they became a couple AFTER all they did against each others, they stayed together for a while. They only split up (and that several times, actually) because according to Lucas Sami was not good enough and he dumped her.
Jimh, I understand perfectly what you are saying. You love the actors and their acting. But, you do not support or condone their ACTIONS and the repercussions of such acts.
I feel exactly the same way. Both Ali and Scott are amazing protagonists,……however, not what they represented in their roles.
Hi CeeCee, i should hire you as my ghost writer..you said exactly what i wanted to say…for reasons i explained in the past and i know you read so i wont rewrite them here, my writing on topics sometimes dont come out the way i think them…some get it, some dont…i guess some of the negative replies i recieve im to blame for because i said bring on those nasty hurtful replies but i knew in the past when i wrote about what i dislike they would come anyway…im ok with some but one i got was a little bit vulgar and thats going a little bit too far…many years ago i wrote to fan mags and no one ever replied in a hurtful way or used vulgarity but here it seems to happen to me more often than others!!!

The posters are not all hurtful. Most are very civil and respectful. Just remember that when someone on these sites lashes out, it only means it is he/she with the anger issues. Darling, some may have preferred death, but I’ll take a distasteful, heavy handed negotiation. It wasn’t a nice choice, but still it was a choice where I lived. Being set up and receiving a lethal injection because my soul-mate and his mom do their level-best to assure that I die in their place is simply not my cup of tea. But then, such decisions are what makes all the pairings so personal. One man’s feast is another man’s famine.
My favorite EjAmi Moments are: When E.J was doing a photo shoot,during his Race Car career,Sami was jealous over the model that was in the shoot with E.J (originally) then Sami and E.J became the shoot…Santeen Story,EjAmi found truth for/between themselves(Love is undeniable) When Sami told E.J she wants a real relationship with him,and she didn’t care about everyone else..
Everytime they spend time alone,rather it be in a cabin with the kids,or in the mansion,or running from the Police!
This may seem a little “off subject” but if EJ is supposed to be dead, and some fans are claiming he isn’t – then why is Kristen injecting him with something at the conclusion of Monday’s episode? Is this another drug concoction that is supposed to revive him or place him in a suspended state or what? How does Kristen find these experimental drugs – is she secretly dating a Pharmacologist?
Stay tuned and we’ll find out together. My guess is: An antidote was injected that will reverse the slow breathing that was caused by EJ taking pills before he was shot. Maybe the gunshot was the delivery method of the slow breathing medicine. Regardless, Ejami will be together in England!
Ali is a class act making sure that all her pairings got lists of her fav moments with them. Being an EJami I have been waiting for this particular list. The Tango was also one of my fav scenes along with hospital stairwell kiss, dancing in the abandoned house, when he told her he loved the good, the bad and everything in between…just too many to list them all.
I think at this point everyone needs to just let it go. Ali is leaving, the fan war is over no matter what. While I have gotten irritated from time to time when Ali supported a pairing other than my fav in a way I PERCEIVED as her picking a favorite I honestly belive she has liked all the pairings she has been in for different reasons, even if some more than others. However, in the end it was her job and no matter what she always gave her all to any scene she was in no matter who it was with.
I will miss Ali/Sami and James/EJ. Both are awesome/amazing actors who always gave us their best.
My 1st encounter with Ejami (and Days) was grief sex, so I never saw the Tango when it aired. But boy is it ever a magical moment! James and Alison have such dynamic chemistry, and the two of them are terrific actors. Even with writing that always tried to tear them apart, they have stolen my heart!

I didn’t see the Tango when it first aired either. This time I got to see it on my flat-screen and it was a real treat. Oooh, I hope she brings up grief sex too. What a fabulous storm of story and emotion that was!
My favorite flashback was Sami making fun of EJ’s clicking noise when they were talking about each others habits (preparing to fool the immigration officer into thinking they were a happily married couple). EJ insisted he didn’t do that and then asked, “Good habits?” They didn’t show Sami’s response in the flashback, but I remember it. Her voice softened and she said, “You put the twins to bed the same way every time. And then you get this look on your face like you’re happy and sad at the same time.” EJ was surprised she’d noticed that. She told him, “I notice a lot of things.” It was one of those moments when, even though they weren’t really together yet, I knew they were meant to be; that someday they would be. Having watched Days since before the birth of Samantha Gene, it’s been wonderful seeing her finally get her epic love. I know that EJ and Allie were shooting for 1000 paper cranes for luck, but I’m hoping there was enough in the ones they’ve made so far to bring a happily ever after for this family.

My favorite scenes are the ones that got me hooked back onto Days (hadn’t watched since the good old Patch & Kayla days..) when I saw Ejami’s hospital scenes after EJ was shot at their Black Wedding. Even though Sami was faking her feelings because of Srefano’s threats, you knew there was some truths beneath it all. When Sami said “if you want to will yourself to die, you’re going to do it in my arms'” (or something close to that… lol), the vulnerability EJ demonstrated and the kiss thereafter – that did me in and made me an Ejami fan for life. I don’t think I can ever ship another fictional couple as I did Ejami.
I will miss Ali and James and all the passion they brought to life with this supercouple (that’s how I will always view them. IMHO). They’ve had many ups and downs and the writing was not always favorable to them but their acting efforts more then made up for it.
Alison, you have proven without a doubt what a fantastic actress you are. Friday and Monday’s scenes were SO believable and heart warming. EJAMI is the best duo on Days and probably daytime television. The most beautiful love story portrayed by two extraordinary actors. No other duo comes remotely close to the extraordinary chemistry you and James share on screen. You are magical together!
I loved all EJAMI scenes and will miss you and James immensely. I can’t imagine Days without the both of you. EJAMI was the primary reason why I watched Days.

Favorite Ejami moment : so many..however, my favorite stays maybe the escapade and dance at the abandoned house..just magical, the chemistry here between Scott and Sweeney was unbelievable, best i have seen on daytime tv.
I don’t understand all the negativity towards Ejami fans why is it such a big deal to others that they love this couple. They have invested their time in watching and supporting Ejami for a number of years. Why is it ok to condemn them for that. Everyone has their favourite character or couple why can’t ppl just be left to enjoy them without having snide or nasty comments made. It’s ridiculous not to mention childish.
I guess we are not reading the same comments here…i see people pointing out their likes and dislikes about the fictional characters…i pointed out why i couldnt fully accept them as a couple…i never attacked any Ejami fans…i like the actors and said they did great emmy worthy work…all i said was what i didnt like about them as a couple…and i got negativity for it…Ejami fans are the ones who are being negative just because some are not 100% supportive of their favorite couple…i see no one being negative toward Ejami fans…its the other way around!!!
i am quite objective about these fanbases jimh..(unlike you, who did admit being biased in favor of Lumi..) and i saw lot’s of fan of other pairings of Ej and/or Sami being quite obsessed in a hateful way with Ejami, the pairing..it is weird to witness by the way. Enjoy who you like and leave what you don’t like, don’t bother..it is simple and more healthy.

If I went over to the Lumi list and explained why their story is not romance to me, then some poor fan of theirs might feel obliged to explain the obvious to me like I just did for you. As I read the comments I’m having a problem finding the negativity from the Ejami fans toward any pairing of Samantha Gene. Perhaps what you are reading/hearing is the negativity toward a master baiter such as yourself.

I thank Alison Sweeney for reaching out to all her fans, and I’ve been looking forward to her Top Ejami moments. Among my favorites: the abandoned house dance, the scene where Sami told EJ if she wasn’t so drunk, she’d have sex with him on the bar, the scene where he was drunk and she had to bring him home.
Alison and James will be greatly missed – I will be a fan of Ejami forever.
All I know is if Allison doesn’t win an Emmy next year for these scenes over the last few days she will be robbed— she has given the most realistic and heart wrenching portrayal of a woman dealing with grief I have ever seen—–
I’m not a Safe, Lumi or Ejami fan— I am Samantha Jean Brady fan—-
and she will be missed–
unlike many young soap stars who move on to bigger pastures the minute they get everything they want from their soap– she stayed with the role for 22 years– for that and that alone she has earned my respect and gratitude—

I have loved Alison Sweeney’s lists but I have been WAITING for this one! I can’t wait to see her list! When I read her #5 (The Tango), I swooned through the whole post. When I first watched that scene, I was so excited to see Sami have that amazing moment with someone who loves her completely and for who she was. EJ and Sami… *le sigh*
Love these flashbacks on Ejami. They will remain my favourite Soap couple of all time. It is the end of an era. I will not miss the insults fans have against other fans though. Good riddance to that!!
I was determined not to become a fan of EJ and Sami, and then came the Tango when I could no longer fight the chemistry between them and became a full fledged fan of theirs.

I have loved every minute of EJ and Sami. I have been watching Days since I was 8 years old. So, I have seen fab love stories come and go since 1973.
There are so many great moments – and the show has done a great job in highlighting some of them this week.

There’s no one who can replace Alison Sweeney as Sami Brady. She will be missed by all of her fans. The past 4 episodes have been heartbreaking, a real tear jerker.. :'( I’m an Ejami, Lumi, and Safe fan.. 🙂 James Scott aka Ej DiMera will also be missed & is irreplaceable…

Ali writing this list will tell us all of her favorite moments but EJAMI’s have 8years of ‘moments’ instead of years which Lumis and Safes had. We EJAMI’s cherished the ‘moments’ and its what sustained us as a shipping line. I’m glad that the Tango was #5. I agree with one of the other comments that the photo shoot where Sami was jealous is a moment of my personal favorite. It showed that despite Sami being w/Lucas and Austin that she had a need to be ‘special’ to EJ, not some model. Throughout the 8 years they’ve orbited each other, they’ve always felt that that push-pull. Finally they get 2 weeks of peace and love and the end is …..

I love E.J., Sami, EJami, James and Ali so much. While I am so very sad to see EJami end, I am happy for Ali and James. Moving on to better things. The writing they got in 2014, showed that DAYS didn’t appreciate them!
Anyway, I have SO many EJami Moments over the years: the scenes at the abandoned house in 06, EJami fighting in the church in 07. The Immigration SL of 08. EJami visiting Grace’s grave (09). 2010 – Sami finds E.J. hurt and brings him to the hospital. Grief sex, 2011. E.J. and Sami in the safe house after DAYSaster. Sami asking E.J. for a chance. And everything of the past few weeks, especially days. #AlwaysEJami!
So happy to be hearing about all her favs while the show’s SL is so dark. Her portrayal has been so amazing and I’m all cried out and emotional exhausted from just watching. Can’t imagine how she got thru them. But it’s nice to take a moment and reminisce over the fun and romantic stuff. Love that she is doing the countdowns. Such a great way to go out and let all the fans really enjoy these last few days/weeks.

I am a fan of EJami and have been since the day EJ opened the door to you wearing only that towel. EJ fell in love with Sami at first sight, and I fell in love with EJami in the moment. It’s unfortunate that you have personally been attacked for doing your job, no matter what co-star you were paired with. Do I believe that James Scott was your acting equal? Absolutely. I think you two brought out the best of your respective abilities. I have hated some of the EJami story lines over the years but came to appreciate that they were just part of the dynamics of this couple. A couple unlike any other, ever. Thank you for keeping the character of Sami authentically Sami Gene Brady for 21 years. Even when the writers tried to whitewash the character into a remake of Carrie, you made sure the real SGB peaked out to remind us she was still there. I sincerely hope you will return to the show one day along with James Scott, reprising your roles. I am having a really hard time imagining a world with Mrs. Sami Brady Dimera and Mr. EJ Dimera. Thank you for being so gracious to all of your fans, even when some would accuse you otherwise. Stay classy, Ms. Sweeney. 😉
Alison Sweeney is a class act who has been so generous to all fan bases! Me I love so many Ejami moments I wouldn’t know where to begin. I will miss this couple immensely but am basically relieved that since one of them was leaving the other one was going as well. I wouldn’t have been able to watch with just one of them still on. Long live Ejami love!!!!!

If it was an article about Days, the storylines in general and what you like and dislike about the show and the characters i would understand the pertinence of your posts better..
juliet, the article is about Ejami…without DAYS, there would be no Ejami…so, it is about DAYS, including one of it’s many storylines/couples…Ejami are not and never will be bigger than DAYS…Ejami only fans are not and will never be bigger than DAYS fans. In the grand scheme of things, Ejami is just a blip on the DAYS radar…All the DAYS fans have the right to speak of EJami, including the good, bad and ugly as do the Ejami fans only and DAYS fans whom happen to be Ejami fans.
Regardless, Ejami fans are not superior to the run-of-the-mill DAYS fans.
Fave EJami moments… how long of a response can I post? There has been so many favorites, it’s impossible to narrow it down. Much like Ali, I’d be doing honorable EJami mentions all over the place!
I have been trying to decide what my favorite is and honestly, cannot do it. So I will do a list, Black Wedding, the private vow renewal they had in September, the love letters, Sami’s confession (January 31-Feb1 2013), November 2011 (when Johnny was missing), abandoned house, Santeen, Daysaster and honestly EJ’s death scenes were just phenomenally done.
I am certainly going to miss Alison & James… they have such memorable chemistry and precision of being in sync with each other. Trust that comes with 8 years of working along side each other. It has been an incredible EJami journey and I will remember it always.

I love all the Ejami moments in the 06-07 era when EJ was doing all kinds of desperate things to win Sami.That is what made me hooked on Ejami.I remember when they lived across the hall from eachother and he was in that wheelchair plotting ways to get her over there to his apartment.I remember one time he fell out the wheelchair or she pushed him out and he laid there,lol,that is when Ejami got ne hooked.HE LOVED SAMI..it became clear early on for me.He may have done some bad things but his love for her was consistent. I am going miss watching EJami
My favorite “EJami” moment is the one that could yet occur. What if, after Sami moves to California with the kids, she meets a man (played by James Scott) who looks EXACTLY like EJ??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The June 22 episode of Days of Our Lives reminded us all of why Deidre Hall is iconic in the role of Dr. Marlena Evans. Here we are 50 years later, and Marlena is still the heroine of the long-running soap opera, and Deidre remains one of the most most recognizable names in the history of soaps.
To pay tribute, and to look back at the life and times of Marlena, the story starts with Marlena flipping through a photo album of her with John (the late Drake Hogestyn) over the years. As she misses him dearly, she gets a knock on the door and its none other than John’s son, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean).
With Andrew (Colton Little) in Salem working on a case, he sits down with Marlena, who says she can’t believe its been fifty years since she first arrived in Salem! Cue: Deidre’s first scenes on DAYS when she finds Mickey Horton (the late John Clarke) playing chess against himself inside the mental institution she worked.

THE FLASHBACKS OF MARLENA’S LIFE
From there, viewers definitely got the cliff notes version of the history of Marlena and entrenched within them, some of the biggest moments in Deidre’s enduring run. Paul thinks he is looking at 70s Marlena while going through her scrapbook, but he is actually looking at her twin, Samantha (Andrea Hall),. Cue: when Marlena confronted Samantha about impersonating her, and then later getting a call on her radio show from the Salem Strangler (Jack Coleman as Jake Kostichek) who killed Samantha thinking it was Marlena.
Belle has arrived at this time to meet up with Paul, unaware of this trip down memory lane. She wants to go over the findings in the chess board mystery Stefano willed to Marlena and John, in private with him, since Marlena previously said she wanted nothing to do with it.
Next, Marlena speaks highly of Don Craig and even though their marriage didn’t work out, she could find a path forward with the new love her life, Roman Brady. (Wayne Northrop however is never shown, possibly to keep the story focused on John as Roman for confusion sakes?)
Paul sees a photo of a young Carrie (Christie Clark) in the album and Marlena says she was such a godsend after losing the baby. In fact, Marlena says caring for Carrie prepared her for her having and raising her own twins, Eric and Sami. Cue: The twin visiting Marlena in the hospital.
JOHN AND MARLENA’S LOVE CONQUERED ALL
Then in a way to get through and incorporate the wild storylines only Marlena could have been, she tells Belle and Paul, she has been through so much in her life, how lucky she was to find John, and some of the most unbelievable experiences no one could imagine. Cue: Marlena possessed by the devil and levitating from the bed. Next, John confronting Marlena being the Salem Stalker, where she admits she killed Alice, pretends she needs help, then pulls a gun on her beloved John!
The comment is made by Paul and Marlena, that she literally has been to hell and back and she could not have survived were it not for her beloved John. Cue the big emotional highpoint clips; The Pier Scene! Marlena steps out of the fog when John sees her from a distance. After believing she was dead for four years, here she was before him in one of the greatest reunion of love story in history. What followed were other times of the life of times of Jarlena.

MARLENA’S ‘GIFT’ FROM STEFANO HAS A NEW CLUE
When Marlena makes a brief exit to the other room, Belle fills him Paul in on the chess set Stefano left her mother and the photo of the Lire. Paul said he will investigate. Marlena overhears and says promise her if things get dangerous you will back off, she does not want anyone hurt by Stefano’s games.
As the episode comes to a conclusion its just Belle and Marlena going through the photo album giggling about 70s hairstyles and all the memories. Belle speaks on the impact Marlena has had in everyone’s lives and that is both the heart of their family and the heart of Salem.
End card comes up acknowledging Deidre Hall’s 50th anniversary as Marlena and we fade to black.

If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.
It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.
In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.
DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.
Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

THE LOVES OF MARLENA
Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.

While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!
The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.
The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.
The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.
In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.
It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.
THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA
In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)
In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.

Al Calderon Reflects on ‘Major Chapters’ Coming to an End on ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘Brilliant Minds’
It’s been a bittersweet time for Al Calderon. The talented actor/singer/songwriter has watched from his vantage point to roles he loved so much come to their conclusion for different reasons.
In a heartfelt message posted to his Instagram story on Saturday, Calderon took a moment to share how grateful he was for the opportunity to play Javi Hernandez on Days of Our Lives, and nurse Nico Silva this year on NBC’s second season of Brilliant Minds. Currently, Brilliant Minds has two more episodes that will air on June 24 and the series finale on July 1.
Calderon expressed, “As I sit here reflecting on this lovely Saturday afternoon over the last two years of my life, I have two major chapters closing that have been part of my life every day for the last two years. We have Brilliant Minds. Our last episodes are wrapping up, and then my last scenes aired yesterday as me as Javi on Days of Our Lives.

“I’m just unbelievably grateful for the chance and the opportunity to be a part of something so much larger than me,” continued Al. “I (will) love Days of Our Lives forever, my family. Thank you for supporting me and supporting my decision to take the leap of faith and believe in myself and, and tell other stories. You know, it’s never goodbye. It’s always ‘see you later’ to me and just leaving with love and leading with love.”
Al concluded with a special mention to some very important people, the fans: “Thank you to the fans and the support from everyone, the lovely messages. So this next chapter, hopefully it’s not a dragon, hopefully it’s a gold coin.”

Calderon’s journey on-screen on Days of Our Lives began in October of 2024 and concluded this month. In one of his last appearances Javi was asking a favor from Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) before bumping into his ex, Leo (Greg Rikaart). In story, Javi has a new romance with Gus (Michael Ocampo), while fighting his feelings for Leo. The role of Javi will be played starting on June 30 by Jacob Martinez who takes over the role.
NBC decided to cancel the Brilliant Minds, after it split up the airing of its second season which began in the fall of September of 2025 and the back-half started airing after a long break this past May. Calderon joined the medical drama staring Zachary Quinto for the new season, which sadly was its last.
