Days Of Our Lives
Peter Reckell Clarifies Tweet To Fans: "Sorry If I Got Your Hopes Up Re DAYS. When I Said There's Movement, It's For Something Else"

Courtesy/NBC
Over the past few days, we have reported that popular former Days of our Lives star Peter Reckell took to Twitter and said out at tweet that his legions of fans believed or inferred that was related to the possibility for him finally returning to the NBC soap opera in the role of Bo Brady, either to wrap up his love story with Hope (Kristian Alfonso), or to make some kind of deal for a longer visit.
However, Reckell now took to his Twitter account to clarify that a return to Salem was not what he was talking about! Peter now tweeted: “Sorry if I got your hopes up re Days. When I said there’s movement, its for something else. That Old saying about doors opening and closing;)”
Now the question is, what else could Reckell be talking about? A new project? Going to another soap?
In addition, prior to that tweet, Reckell sent out a series of tweets as a statement that read: “About a year and a half ago, DOOL called me and we tried 2 work out something. But we couldn’t come to an agreement. Money was NOT the issue. Weeks ago you filled me in on what was happening with Hope’s storyline. I called the show to see if it was time for Bo to make an appearance. With the connection Bo and Hope have always shared, I thought he could give her the OK to move on with her life, in a dream or something. But the writers have written far ahead, and my suggestions are a bit too late. Which makes sense, so nothing came of that conversation. You say Bo’s actions are out of character. That’s a writer’s way of foreshadowing something,in character, happening down the road.”
So, what do you think about Peter’s sentiments now? Are you disappointed by the news that there is no movement on a return for Peter to DAYS? Share your thoughts below!
Why dont he explain himself?…well, ive moved on to a Hope and Aiden pairing…no matter if its the fault of PR or TPTB, should Kristen A. just sit in the background and forget about Hope until if and when Bo returns or not…i say the actress and her character deserves better…so do us fans…drop Bo for good…Kristen/Hope need to move forward…end of story!!!
I agree with both of you. I’ve moved on, too. Of course an actor has a right to leave a show. Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Bo go sailing and Hope joined him for a while but cam back to Salem without him? And then later she found out from John of all folks that Bo is on a super-secret mission to bring Stefano down? It was so secret I guess that he couldn’t call. But he flew John there to announce it. Oy! Not great writing if that’s the case.
He just needs to say nothing else about it maybe. It’s irritating to me that every time he does the fans get all riled up and social media explodes. Then you see fans arguing over Bo and Aiden. It really rains on everyone’s parade and it’s all for nothing, because he isn’t returning. I sometimes feel PR does it intentionally to turn fans against a Hope and Aiden pairing. I wonder sometimes if that is why the writer’s are writing Haiden and a turtle’s pace. Are they waiting for PR to return, too?
I loved her scenes when she was writing Bo the letter letting him go and reminiscing about their life together. I like that they haven’t rushed Hope and Aiden together (but they could move a bit faster). Bo did abandon her in a way. He didn’t discuss with her if it ‘s ok if he leaves and does this and leaves her and the kids without him.
I’ve read some of the craziest comments from fans like “Hope is busy sniffing around another man while her husband is out there working for a “greater good” and “if she’s as lonely as she says in the letter why didn’t we see her be sad or lonely on the screen?”- (um, we did..there was many scenes of her crying and missing Bo.), “Hope wants to cheat so she’s asking for a divorce because she’s in love with another man’ (crazy)..Most of the comments about the Bo and Aiden are positive, so I just wish PR would make up his mind and let everyone else move forward!
I just think this is PRs way of keeping his name in the spolight like VW ex Dru-Y&R has done!!!
But the difference is VR actually still works and juggles so many other gigs. So even as she whines, at least she still books job. On PR, it just comes across as Meh….
Shucks….
double shucks
it’s wrong nevertheless
for fan spoil
no more Bo
God… we dreamed of it
all of him
Yum
pleasant afterthought still
yeah, Hope HAS ‘move’d
and IT”S Daniel Cosgrove…. dag! finally… he’s in a white t-shirt…. hoping for more
down under
Ta-Da ! Hope celebrates
the scenes with Caroline at the pub still register ….
I’m tickled it’s been this easy a transition for KA
Maybe Peter should shut down his twitter account. He’s using twitter to hold people hostage…not nice!
Im enjoying the show without him…ive watched since it began in 1965 and ive seen the show loose far better and more interesting actors and actresses over the years…if he ever comes back or he never comes back no longer matters to me!!!
I’m also OK without PR. Hope and Aiden are interesting and will be in full swing of things when Melissa Archer’s character arrives.
I agree with 4ever Days and jimh-I think he wrote this knowing that it would obviously spark some controversary and interest. I, myself, began watching Days when RKK was cast as Bo-who I liked. I was never a fan of Peter’s Bo-always too cocky-why?-he never seemed to solve a case for the Salem PD! HA!
RKK was a better Bo…imo2
I’m so over his drama!!!
Me too!
Yes, I think he is just using his fans/Bo fans/DAYS fans to keep his name fresh…It’s becoming stale.
Agree!!!
actors need to stay relevant, I’m sure that is his way to “not be forgotten” 😉
I gave up on Days awhile ago but I thought it was horrible how the show put K.Alfonso in limbo. I guess now that she has an actual storyline, viewers are enjoying it again and SHE deserves it! She stayed with the show and didn’t gripe about stuff like Peter did – so ….. time for Peter to just stop talking about it. I’ve always been a BO & HOPE fan but Peter has a tendency to talk too much!
Peter can’t help it if people constantly jump to conclusions. His exit was handled very poorly. The character should have been killed off. It would have given Alfonso a storyline to sink her teeth into and allowed Hope to move on. Instead, Hope’s been in limbo and Bo looks like a douchebag for deserting his family. The nasty comments being directed at him by Hope fans on Twitter and forums are unwarranted. The man gave Days 30+ years and many viewers who were diehard Bo and Hope fans have now turned on him. Poor form. On the other hand, Alfonso can’t complain about sitting on the back burner. That was her own doing. She had a juicy storyline with the Hope/Bo/Carly triangle which was building very nicely but she demanded it be canned resulting in Chappell’s exit, Reckell’s exit and 2 years in the wilderness for Alfonso.
I love Bo and Hope and I’ve been a big fan of Peter’s, but this Twitter drama is too much for too long. He did get fans’ hopes up, as he had intended, and now he has to deal with that. IMO, it’s bad form for any actor to tweet as he did before he had something concrete to announce, or really, before the show had something to announce, since it’s really not his place to steal the thunder from DOOL. And I know that Peter said it might not come to be anything, but at the same time, I don’t recall a lot (or any) actors who tweeted like that before a deal was in place. Personally, I’ve been enjoying DOOL without him, which isn’t to say that I wouldn’t have loved his return, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me. I know it has been for a lot of Bope fans, but I’m enjoying Haiden. They’re not Bope and even if they were on for a dozen years, they couldn’t be Bope in my eyes, but they are a mature, intelligent couple in a well-thought-through storyline. We saw them on a date, which (other than GH nowadays) is rare on Daytime! I’ve suffered through far too many new actors showing up on a soap and being shoved in my face like he/she is the next big thing (hi, Griffin on AMC!), and DOOL is not doing that with Daniel Cosgrove/Aiden Jennings. I admit that it might have been better if DOOL had “killed” Bo, but the fact that they didn’t doesn’t take away from this current storyline for Haiden.
As for Peter, I wish him well and hope that one day, he will re-sign with DOOL, but for me, it doesn’t have to be now, and if and when he does re-sign, I hope that he’ll use Twitter or Facebook or whatever in a better way than he has so far. JMO.
You’re telling it like it is, Beth…Very good comment!
I agree with what you say Beth!
I’m a fan of Bo & Hope and I wish Peter well .. but his Up & Down behavior on the show is annoying. They couldn’t just keep K.Alfonso in limbo until Peter was “ready” again.
I still think that the way they treated RKK when Peter was on his “I want to return” kick was horrible … I’m sure RKK would have stuck around for awhile and been pleased to be a part of the show.
Who cares what he meant? I think he did it on purpose.
I have to agree with you Mo. If this had been the first tweets to come out I would’ve given him the benefit of the doubt. But this has been going on for a long while now.
What strikes me odd in his statement is that he said he found out LAST WEEK what was going on with Hope’s storyline and called to see if it was time for him to make an appearance to give her the ok the move on. Gosh that just sounds bad the way he worded it. But anyway, since he knows they film months in advance, it seems she may already have moved on without his permission by the time those scenes would air. Where was all of this concern about giving Hope a good send-off BEFORE she started dating someone else? He could’ve come back 6 months ago & wrapped things up, regardless if she was dating or not. He had already been gone a long while then. And wouldn’t they call him if they wanted that? Maybe I’m being too harsh on him.
One thing I am surprised about is how MANY Haiden supporters there are! Even though they are barely on, every time they are Days messageboards explode with support. I thought for sure a supercouple as big as Bope was/is, that there would be a lot more protesters picketing the studio! Interesting.
I agree with the others who are over Bo/Peter. He doesn’t need to come back to tie up anything. I think the writers got rid of him just fine.
Moving on…
He’s becoming another Victoria Rowell with all the silly post character drama. He will continue to alienate himself with his fans and the show until they kill his character off camera and he is truly forgotten. KNOCK IT OFF PETER RECKELL.
Just go on with the storyline. Kristen and the fans deserve this.
I agree. Days doesn’t need Bo or Peter. I really like Aiden. Be quiet Peter. We don’t want your drama!
Big rumor is Peter Reckell, is in talks with General hospital.
That rumor has been out there for a while though. GH would be better off picking up James Scott as a long-lost Cassadine. JS has a HUGE following still & to see him as an evil character again? YES PLEASE!!!
The show should be more flexible and find a way to get Bo in there for an episode or two if he wants to do it. Fans would enjoy it so it would be a win/win. GH does cameos all the time for a few episodes and it keeps you guessing because you never know who is going to show up. Days seems less flexible in that regard – the cast is more or less “set in stone” at any given time with very few surprises.
I’d rather see Bo pop in for cameos than have him “on the canvas” like John but relegated to the “old man” role. Days should weave in a lot more fan faves for short arcs like GH does it would freshen up the show. I know they claimed they were doing this but I have yet to see that happen to any large extent.
Honestly I am starting to believe that it is less the show’since fault and more his. I like the Hope and Aiden pairing, but the right recast could work for Bo as well…maybe Robert Kelker Kelly could take on the role again as he is not on GH anymore. Other suggestions are Ricky Paul Goldin or John Loprieno!
Days is written and mostly shot six months in advance. It doesn’t matter what fans want or don’t want. I don’t really see anything wrong with that. Fans are unrealistic sometimes. There are four soaps left so the actors have little choice anymore if they want to stay in daytime. I see actors jumping ship for other things. They are very careful what they say so they don’t offend fans. Anyone who doesn’t see this is not realistic. Some actors leave because the industry may only be around another five years or so. They plan elsewhere for future. I find it ridiculous that twitter starts all this speculation. In this case, how many times have I read these two actors don’t even get along.
Well said. And viewers wonder why some actors refuse to engage in social media – why would you want to when you are crucified? Over the past 30 years people has actually been very reserved with fan interaction. Now that he does share an opinion he is being slammed.
I think for the fans, it would be better to get PR back for a week to do a death scene, complete with flashbacks of Bo/Hope, than go with the current strategy. So many couples have been separeted for years. It just seems sad that Hope is not willing to do the same. Recast is better than the current plot. Hope/Aiden will never be a supercouple to DAYS fans. (Unless it is after Bo’s death)
My guess is that he is in talks with Days and he got in trouble for tweeting about it. it will be a surprise when he shows up. I myself.. really don’t care if he ever comes back.. also Home and her new man are soooo boring.. Just a waste of talent with no storyline..
Hope & Aiden are hott!!!
What a little tease.
I feel so used and disrespected this morning.
Although I am sure Peter is enjoying this time with his daughter, I also suspect the response by fans to the Hope-Aiden pairing is tugging at Peter. Just goes to show you “the show must go on”! The fans fell in love with Bo and Hope years ago, but now they can also fall in love with Hope and Aiden. (Remember Mickey and Maggie? Now it is Maggie and Victor!)
One man’s trash is another’s treasure. Even if Hope-Aiden don’t get as much scree time (or storyline) as younger couples on the show, there is an actor out there who will appreciate whatever screen time (storyline) is given as Hope’s love interest and be glad to have the job! (Congratulations to Daniel Cosgrove and keep up the good work!)
The one thing I never understood about this real life soap drama is, if an actor’s screen time/storyline has been reduced, wouldn’t that mean more personal time available? It seems an aging actor would have it great on a soap because they get a lot of time off do do whatever they want. If Peter wanted more time with his daughter, wouldn’t a reduced tape schedule have afforded that? Maybe there is still something about how soaps are taped that I still don’t understand, and that piece of information would clarify this issue to me.
Oh, well… As I said, the show must go on….and it has been doing just that!
Having Bo (Peter) come back only to die was wrong wrong wrong! Days you messed up by not finding a way to keep him. My husband has watched the show with me and is now very sad! Yes, it’s just a show but honestly I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was to find out Bo was coming back. Days should have done EVERYTHING to keep him! I won’t watch the show ever again and so say all my friends. It reminds me of General Hospital when Genie Frances left and ruined that beautiful love story! YES I AM FURIOUS! So long Days!!!!!!!
