DAYS Casey Moss Chats On JJ and Eve's Game-Changing Sexcapade!

Something unexpected happened on today’s episode of Days of our Lives, or was it unexpected? JJ (Casey Moss) and Eve (Kassie DePaiva) found themselves down in the dumps and together! First, JJ has just had a terrible fight with girlfriend Paige (True O’Brien) over her wanting to have sex with him! JJ keeps holding back, due to his conflicting emotions in part, because his father Jack was a rapist and Paige knows about it! Meanwhile, Eve is distraught after learning from the doctors that she can’t have her vocal chord surgery, and she will never be able to sing again. And that sets up the perfect recipe for these two characters to seek solace with each other … and, what do you know? They have hot sex!
Will JJ and Eve become an item or is it a one time fling? Will JJ become caught between mother and daughter? Will Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) lose her grip whenever she finds out what happened between her son and her arch-rival? On-Air On-Soaps caught with DAYS young star Casey Moss to get some answers, and to get the details on working with daytime favorite Kassie DePaiva in the steamy scenes!

CASEY: JJ and Paige had a terrible fight. He goes to her apartment to find her, and Eve was there. We start talking and Eve starts crying over the surgery she is suppose to get on her vocal chords as she won’t be able to sing anymore, and they both have been drinking.
So, she’s drunk, and he’s buzzed! That equals – sex on the soaps!
CASEY: Yup! We both feel alone at this time, and the music has this unstoppable attraction for them, and it holds them and gives them sexual tension, and they both connect that way. So they lock eyes, and stuff started happening!
What do you think the fans will say after the tryst? They wanted this to happen, you know that!
CASEY: It’s kind of crazy, because from the first episode people were saying, “Oh, my God. JJ and Eve are going to sleep together!”
Did you not play the attraction between you two charactes early on in your scenes with Kassie DePaiva? Did the producer/writers tell you to play that? It seemed very apparent to the viewers, when watching the two of you that there were sparks.
CASEY: No, we did not know! We did not know till Kassie and I were filming together for two to three weeks. Then, one of the directors told us, “You know, you guys are really attracted to each others, and you got to kind of turn up the heat a bit.” We had no idea. We were blinded by that, and we were playing it more and more, but I didn’t feel, or see a spark at the beginning. Apparently, everyone else did … which is kind of interesting.
How do you feel about the set-up of Kassie as Eve being the older woman, and you as JJ being the younger guy? Cougar romance! (Laughs)

CASEY: It’s actually been really comfortable working with Kassie, and we both have made it comfortable for each other. There is so much guilt that comes with this for JJ. It’s a complete nightmare. I am surprised Jennifer isn’t throwing up every second, because her children are going haywire! They are making the worst decisions, and that can only make a mother feel so guilty. It’s been a crazy storyline.
How was it for you when it was actually time to tape the sex scene with Kassie? Were you anxious?
CASEY: The day we were actually going to have the sex scene, we talked about it. It was very much like, “Wow. We are actually going to do this.” And the thing is, when the characters went there, it was “hate sex”! Kassie and I just had to go at it.
You know, “hate sex” can potentially turn into major love story on the soaps! Just sayin’!

CASEY: I am very excited to see how the fans react to the sex scene, because I am pretty sure they are going to love it. They are looking for it. They want it! (Laughs)
When was True O’Brien (Paige) in the loop on this … that you would be having sex in story with her on-screen mom?
CASEY: All she could say was, “Oh, my God.” That is pretty much all she could say. She was pretty much freaked out by it.
So, Paige is going to have to turn to someone else for comfort, right?
CASEY: Possibly! I am hoping she turns to JJ’s friend Rory, because he hasn’t gotten any action on the show. (Laughs)
What has it been like working with daytime favorite, Kassie DePaiva (Eve)?
CASEY: She is lovely, and I adore her. I think Eve is an interesting character, because she has been hurt by a lot of men in her life, and instead of separating that between her and her daughter, she is putting them as one, sort of speak, meaning Eve got hurt by Jack and JJ is Jack’s son. Eve is assuming that JJ is going to hurt Paige, as Jack hurt Eve, back in the day. Eve is a complex character, for sure. She is going about everything the completely wrong way!

What on earth is going to happen when JJ’s mom and Eve’s enemy, Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), finds out about their liaison, and the rest of Salem?
CASEY: You guys are in for another ride that is all I can say. We will see what happens!

I agree. That was such a pivotal show. I live in the central TZ, and they broke into the show for a Mitch McConnell press conference. I was fit to be tied. Ended up having to wait to Thursday morning to watch on the NBC app. But, I did get to see it.
CASEY who play JJ on days is beyond beautiful. cute imo he is a mixture of the bad boy,turn good,”loyal” emo-at times, and sweet altogether! so cute,but good looking too.Most guys imo are 1 or the other.he is the whole pkg.face,skin,bod,hair,etc.love him so much,and the voice! love him. I m loving how close he seem to be with his lovely tv mom the talented JEN,Melissa Reeves,PAIGE is lovely o so cute she is,so pretty .not sur of paige mix race i hear,not sure,but she is beautiful with jj.they really do compliment each other. i m happy he is LOVING his role on days,and SL.love that!
The romp was nasty and distasteful. It was done out of grief and hatred, just like the EJami romp of 2011 and, more recently, when Daniel almost had sex with Kristen. Why isn’t sex about ‘making love’ anymore? I think Days has really jumped the shark now. An almost 50 year old woman sleeping with her daughter’s 19 year old ex-boyfriend who also happens to be the son of her ex-hubby and her arch-enemy? Too contrived and unbelievable. It’s sad because I was really hoping for watching on a regular basis now that EJ died and Sami has left, and Dannifer broke up. Now I’m back to taking a break. With horrible storylines like these, it’s no wonder Days is at the bottom of the ratings list among the soaps. CBS Daytime soaps are far more entertaining and better written–and even they have their flaws.

Exactly, dmr. I still have that sneaking suspicion that JJ is Jack’s son. And, that is the reason why JJ and Paige never end up having sex…..there’s always some obstacle or other preventing it. I may be derailing here, but, it is sort of a logical assumption, yes? Is it possible?
I am truly so disgusted with it – thought Daniel/Kristen in bed was bad but this is downright disgusting. Is there never a couple that can be happy for more than a day or two – the young love of Paige and JJ could’ve been something great and they had to go and twist it so distastefully that I am done watching. Only really like the Sami/EJ storyline anyways so since they are gone and they are so desperate for storylines that they have to do disgusting things it’s no longer worth my time

I was going to post a reply elsewhere, but You Dmitri said it best..I am really losing interested in the show..The storyline are just painful to watch..I saw this JJ/Eve hookup coming months ago, but hoped it was just my imagination..I am all for older woman/younger man, but it SO does not work here.

Someone here mention that this show is ripping off GH storylines, and that person was SOOO RIGHT!..New writers PLEASE, or this show ratings will fall further and cancellation will be in the horizen.
If you are trying to raise your ratings, I don’t think JJ & Eve having sex is the way to do it, Nor is it believable that Kristen is young enough to carry a baby. Ya’ll may be able to fool or pull in the younger crowd, but the older ones remember how old Kristen would be at this point. Also why does Daniel go to bed with everyone he meets. Will he sleep with Will next? Geez, ya’ll are so predictable. When is the story line of Nichole’s baby coming through .Awhile back there was rumors about Stephano taking her baby with EJ and also Abigail’s fetus with EJ. Ann and Nichole are the reason’s I watch.
I believe Paige will turn out to be JJ sister!! That’s why Eve is trying so hard to keep them apart.

On the subject of Kristen, I believe that women in their fifties, sixties even, in good health, are able to be surrogates. We hear about surrogate grandmothers giving birth to their own grandchildren. But, this whole thing is so convoluted. How old is Kristen supposed to be? I agree with you, how will she explain it away? Has she slept with Brady recently? Did I miss something. I wouldn’t be surprised if Marlena and John get back together and she ends up pregnant? Oh, my !
Dmitri, I could not have said it better myself. I am only 28, but I have very high morals and standards for someone my age, or so I’m told. However, I do not consider myself a prude. I wear make-up, minis, stilettos….LOL….I do not necessarily conform to society’s dictates, as we see these little tweens ,now , behaving as twenty-year olds, and middle -aged women behaving as teens. Nonetheless, this very thing happens in reality.
I do not ken why all the four remaining soaps have to use and abuse this revolting ploy to get ratings, as Mary suggests. They all seem to copy one another…it’s THE AMAZING RACE, I guess.

Disgusting as it is, maybe the Kristen-Brady-John story that won two Emmys for acting lead to the Eve-JJ-Paige thing. Days needs to do better!

it’s simply bring together two actors… with chemistry… who know their craft… ACTING…. whether by themselves or with any one else… and intrigue follows…. as a pair. heck…. i’d distend belief for imagination wander
You may have a point, Goobus. Although I find this sex-filled interlude repulsive, perhaps there is an attraction there. JJ’s hormones are raging and she was there, ready and welcoming. I doubt he could not get it anywhere else….that other girl (can’t think of her name) would do flips and somersaults for him…I just think it was the right moment at the right time for Eve and JJ. Yuck…LOL.
It wasn’t unexpected– like others I knew the minute he met her, with her blouse half undone that eventually they would hook up. But I didn’t see it as hate sex, to me it was drunk and dumb sex—- and it lack the hot factor of the same story that was done on GH, with Morgan Ava– it came across as awkward– so I am hoping unlike the cougar story on GH, this will be a one time thing and never happen again.
IDays is starting to loose my interest…the whole JJ and Eve bedding is so contrived and an easy ripoff of GHs Ava and Morgan storyline…Kristen stealing Theresa’s embryo plot is also similiar to Nina’s at GH…both Kristen and Nina cant have children so they are stealing another womans baby in such tacky ways…and boring Jordan, Clyde and Ben can all leave town…they do absolutely nothing for the show…i really think Ken Corday has lost interest in this show…itll never climb out of fourth place the way it is now…im hoping things improve with the return of Melanie and Melissa Archers arrival…ive been such a long time viewer and with only 4 soaps left i want to support the genre but dull days ahead is making it difficult…jmho!!!

Sadly, jimh, some people get a high from baby snatching and gory melodrama. Perhaps I’m a tad sensitive due to the fact that I lost a child a few years ago. He was one when he went with the angels…..not a day goes by that I don’t shed a tear. It is hard for me to watch. So, I don’t. I cannot expect TPTB to omit certain scenes…it is what it is. Not entertainment, that’s for sure.
I have said this before…it seems that all the soaps play copy-cats….must be the trend…later.

Although the story is implausible, please remember why we watch soaps in the first place. It’s an escape from reality and a chance to watch characters do what we in real life would never think about doing. Frankly the two actors do have great chemistry and it’s fun to see it play out onscreen. I know Days has shown raunchy sex with many characters. I think it would be fun to see these two fall in love and deal with all the fallout. I am looking forward to another love scene between them. Next time I hope we do see less of th sex and more making love. I believe this can be a great love story and romance.

Was done better a few years ago between Nick and Billie but this was a good twist. And who would have thought Eve Donovan has sex with her bra on – never would have pegged her as the shy type. We’ll see where this goes. Eve blackmailing JJ into an ongoing series of trysts would really spice this show up!
Yeah, Nick, blackmail could create much needed havoc in Salem. As things are, the storylines do not seem to go anywhere. BORIIING!! However, I think that Eve really loves Paige and I doubt she would want to see her hurt. JMO.
Even though I suspected this was in the pipeline, I was still surprised to see it happen. Maybe when Paige finds out this will help give Paige a little more fire! I think True O’Brien is doing a great job for her first acting gig and would really like to see her play the explosive scenes with JJ and Eve when she learns the truth.
Perhaps JJ could turn to great uncle Doug for advice? I’m sure he learned something from the Doug/Julie/Addie triangle!
I do like the chemistry between Paige and Kayla and would really like to see Paige turn to Kayla for support through this. Plus, that would mean more Mary Beth Evans. How could that be bad?!!

And as much as I love kassie and casey opi wont be watching anymore until thecwriters get there act together. And if this turns out to be a she raped me he raped me storline Im done.
I love Casey and Kassie but that was just disturbing as hell! I am with True on this one! This is the end of JJ and Paige which we needed on this soap. A sweet, young love affair not him hooking up with her mom. I mean, who says, my girlfriend is young, beautiful, smart and hot but I want her middle aged, rode hard and put up wet mom, give me some of that! No one. No one has ever said that.

I think a lot of us suspected this happening way back when-JJ showed up at the apartment and Eve answered the door (?) (or did he walk in) in her bra. I think Kassie is a very beautiful and sexy woman. JJ is a hot-blooded young boy/man. Maybe this will light a fire under Paige?! & you know, it won’t only happen once! Bring it!
I am SO tired of reading about Jack the rapist. YES it was horrible that it happened…. BUT IT WAS 25 YEARS AGO!!!!! He turned his life way around!! If KAYLA forgave him, why is this an issue now?! I’ve watched this show since 1995 and I found out about it a few years ago from youtube vids/message boards, but It was never mentioned on the show in that time until AFTER Jack died. He was an AWESOME charioteer and suddenly he dies and he’s a “Rapist”. All that is, is writers that don’t like the charicter and is trying to get the Jack/Jen fans to accept her being with Dr. Dipshit. This will be very interesting, and could take several turns before we get anywhere near an ending. For the first time yesterday I saw Rory soften towards a girl. Usually, he thinks of them as someone to get high with, but when Paige was telling him about the argument with JJ, he seemed to feel a little bad for her…So when this is revealed I fully expect to see this bring Rory and Paige closer. Of course that would send JJ into a jealous tailspin, and Eve…Well, since Rory is truly a bad boy…Her world would go dark quick. Lol

I think this is the worst thing that the writers could have came up with. I’m wondering can the writers not come up with a better story line than this. It seems like the writers can’t come up with anything that they practically have to put a child and a grown women in bed with each other. That is the most disgusting thing that the writers could have done. The writers has to destroy any hopes of a good story line. First it was EJ and Sami. That was a total let down! Letting a hick from the sticks kill him off. That did’nt even make sense to me. Sami and EJ have been through a lot together. They should of had a happy ending together. The whole story line with Jordan is so stupid,and Clyde and Kate. I mean come on ,any other guy she would have told to get lost. Where is the Romance on the show!!! The writers have all these couples going in circles,nothing ever good happens on the show any more. I have been watching the so ever since I was in JR high,and now I ‘am 43. I’am so disappointed with the way the writers are taking the show. You wold think the writers would come up with something new and exciting. You would think that the writers would get a clue,and do something to bring up the ratings. It sure wouldn’t be by putting JJ and Eve in bed together. That is just sick!!!
Ok the whole Mrs. Robinson thing was just gross! I was really hoping a couple of arguments ago Paige and JJ would of come to their senses. They made such a cute couple before. Now I can’t stand to look at her pouting face or his cheating one! Send Paige off to Stanford where she belongs. Send JJ off to the military where he can learn to be a real man! He is such a push over! His Dad was nothing like this. Jack always had a way of jumping around and getting a reaction from people. JJ is so boring!! Please fix this storyline! Also what on earth did Jordan do to her Momma! Spill already are just let it go! I do like the scenes with Kate and Clyde. The scenes where he talks to Ben are okay. Just get the dumb look off of Jordan’s face already!!!
I hated it, had to FF through it,, why do the writers think the men of Salem can’t co0ntrol themselves sexually, between JJ and Daniel, I’m really tired of this show and I’ve been watching it for 49 yrs and have never felt that way before. They may lose a viewer.

*But heading into 2015 could we please lose (yes I said, LOSE not loose – need to learn how to spell that word correctly again), the idiotic term “cougar.” Cougar is a mammal, not a middle-aged woman who dates/beds younger guys.
I’m not opposed to a cougar/younger guy sex scene on a soap, and to give Days’ credit, they did lay some groundwork to explain why JJ and Eve had sex, and it wasn’t just because they were drunk. There’s been a weird attraction between them, going back to when Eve sang while JJ played guitar. And I admit, Kassie and Casey have good chemistry and are both good looking actors. As a result, I’m not as turned off by this story development as other viewers.
But my problem is that (1) Eve hasn’t been written well since she came on the show (she’s much too shallow and a villain too much of the time with few, if any, redeeming values) and this just adds to why I can’t like Eve even when I want to and (2) I find JJ and Paige to be much too dull. I can’t be offended on Paige’s behalf because I don’t care if JJ and Paige stay a couple. I’m very surprised that Days has decided to invest as much time and effort in this couple when I don’t think they generate any heat or electricity, and sadly, I think most of that is due to Paige (both the actress and the character). So to me, this is just a “shocking” act which has fizzled. I’m not glued to my seat to see Paige’s reaction when she finds out because I don’t think she can show the appropriate amount of rage and horror, and I don’t think that Eve vs. Jennifer, Part 99 since Kassie’s arrival, is riveting, either. I would like to see something that grabs my attention, and unfortunately, JJ/Eve sex doesn’t do it.
IMO, a lot of what’s not working here could have been fixed if Days wasn’t taping as far in advance as they do. It takes much too long for writing to improve once the fans weigh in against a character or a story twist or a couple. Only now is Days finally apparently ending Dannifer after so much time has passed. But they need to give Kassie some depth to play, and having her one redeeming feature be that she loves her daughter so much is just not enough. That’s literally all she’s got going for her, and it’s a disservice to Kassie’s talent and the audience’s patience. JJ and Paige need to end, stat, or keep going with another actress. But either way, Days shouldn’t be building November Sweeps around them. They cannot carry the show or a frontburner storyline during a critical time like this.

It´s time for the writers to start being creative again, because replaying the same story three times in a year is too much. Everybody can predict what will happen now. JJ and Page will magically reunite and become happy again, only we will see the endless “nobody can ever know” conversation between JJ and Eve until someone finally overhears and then, either during Feb or May, the truth will finally come out. It´s repetive, it´s unoriginal and sorry to say, watching EJ and Abby doing it was atleast hot as hell and the sex was oozing from the screen whenever they shared a scene, JJ and Eve are just awkward.

I DID NOT care for the scene between JJ and Eve, who is old enough to be his mother and THEN some. I don’t mean that in any way against the talented actress who portrays Eve, but JJ looks like a Drug Store Delivery boy and the only thing he should be bringing to Eve is a Jar of Porcelana.
I didn’t think the writers would go there, this kind of plot has been done to death on soaps, but here we are again. Then again, Paige is about as interesting as a box of Kleenex so I can’t blame JJ for looking elsewhere, but not with someone who could almost be his Grandma.
The entire scene, idea, etc. was thoroughly disgusting, and shame on Days for trying this again. Is that all these writers know what to write……throw two people in bed.

We knew it was due to happen from their first meeting and the majority of us that have been with Days since its inception soooooo hoped it wouldn’t happen. Got tired of the constant explaining to Paige but, this was NOT the answer. I find it distasteful and below what these two competent actors deserve and we as viewers deserve better. Losing interest at this point and it’s the first time for this long time viewer!
The June 22 episode of Days of Our Lives reminded us all of why Deidre Hall is iconic in the role of Dr. Marlena Evans. Here we are 50 years later, and Marlena is still the heroine of the long-running soap opera, and Deidre remains one of the most most recognizable names in the history of soaps.
To pay tribute, and to look back at the life and times of Marlena, the story starts with Marlena flipping through a photo album of her with John (the late Drake Hogestyn) over the years. As she misses him dearly, she gets a knock on the door and its none other than John’s son, Paul Narita (Christopher Sean).
With Andrew (Colton Little) in Salem working on a case, he sits down with Marlena, who says she can’t believe its been fifty years since she first arrived in Salem! Cue: Deidre’s first scenes on DAYS when she finds Mickey Horton (the late John Clarke) playing chess against himself inside the mental institution she worked.

THE FLASHBACKS OF MARLENA’S LIFE
From there, viewers definitely got the cliff notes version of the history of Marlena and entrenched within them, some of the biggest moments in Deidre’s enduring run.
Paul thinks he is looking at 70s, and early 80s Marlena while going through her scrapbook, but he is actually looking at her twin, Samantha (Andrea Hall). Cue: when Marlena confronted Samantha about impersonating her, and then later getting a call on her radio show from the Salem Strangler (Jack Coleman as Jake Kostichek) who killed Samantha thinking it was Marlena.
In the present, Belle (Martha Madison) has arrived at this time to meet up with Paul, unaware of this trip down memory lane. She wants to go over the findings in the chess board mystery Stefano willed to Marlena and John, in private with him, since Marlena previously said she wanted nothing to do with it.
Back to the history lesson, Marlena speaks highly of Don Craig and even though their marriage didn’t work out, she could find a path forward with the new love her life, Roman Brady. (Wayne Northrop however is never shown, possibly to keep the story focused on John as Roman for confusion sakes?)
Paul sees a photo of a young Carrie (Christie Clark) in the album and Marlena says she was such a godsend after losing her baby. In fact, Marlena says caring for Carrie prepared her for her having and raising her own twins, Eric and Sami. Cue: The twin visiting Marlena in the hospital.
JOHN AND MARLENA’S LOVE CONQUERED ALL
Then, in a way to get through and incorporate the wild storylines only Marlena could have been in, she tells Belle and Paul, she has been through so much in her life, how lucky she was to find John, and some of the most unbelievable experiences no one could imagine. Cue: Marlena possessed by the devil and levitating from the bed. Next, John confronting Marlena being the Salem Stalker, where she admits she killed Alice Horton, pretends she needs help, then pulls a gun on her beloved John!
The comment is made by Paul and Marlena, that she literally has been to hell and back and she could not have survived were it not for her beloved John. Cue the big emotional highpoint clips; The Pier Scene! Marlena steps out of the fog when John sees her from a distance. After believing she was dead for four years, here she was before him in one of the greatest reunions in a soap opera love story in history. What followed were other times of the life of times of Jarlena.

MARLENA’S ‘GIFT’ FROM STEFANO HAS A NEW CLUE
When Marlena makes a brief exit to the other room, Belle fills in Paul on the chess set Stefano left her mother and the photo of the Lire. Paul said he will investigate. Marlena comes back into the room and overhears, and says to promise her if things get dangerous he will back off, she does not want anyone hurt by Stefano’s games.
As the episode comes to a conclusion, it’s just Belle and Marlena going through the photo album giggling about 70s hairstyles and all the memories. Belle speaks on the impact Marlena has had in everyone’s lives, and that she is both the heart of their family and the heart of Salem.
An end card comes up acknowledging Deidre Hall’s 50th anniversary as Marlena, and we fade to black.

If you have ever tuned-in to the soap opera genre over the last 50 years, and witnessed some of the greatest romances, drama, classic and outlandish storylines of all-time, you would have seen Deidre Hall smack dab in the middle of it as longtime Salem heroine, Dr. Marlena Evans.
It was 50 years on this date, June 21, 1976 that Hall first appeared on DAYS on NBC which was its home for 57 years before it moved to its current streaming platform on Peacock in September of 2022.
In Hall’s first episode she was introduced as a psychiatrist treating Mickey Horton (John Clarke) at Bayview Sanitarium after he suffered a complete mental breakdown. Mickey learned that his brother Bill Horton (Edward Mallory) was the biological son of Mike Horton (Wesley Eure) with his wife Laura (Susan Flannery) and that he had been lied to for years and years. From that moment on, the rest is television and soap opera history. Days of Our Lives put Hall front and center.

There were so many heartbreaking and shocking story twists involving the beloved Marlena. One of the first was the historic crib death of baby DJ (Don Jr.) in 1980, Marlena’s infant son with Don Craig (Jed Allan). The story had never been told on daytime television and Hall’s performances received accolades from TV critics to fans when Deidre received thousands of letters from grieving mothers who had gone through the same thing in their own lives.
DAYS also brought Deidre’s twin sister, Andrea Hall Lovell to the show as her on-screen sister Samantha, who had a grudge and even locked Marlena up in a sanitarium and took her place! Fast-forward and in 1982, DAYS launched the Salem Strangler story where everyone believed Marlena was his next victim, only it turned out to be Samatha. Jake Kositchek (played by Jack Coleman) was revealed to be the actual serial killer.
Later, Deidre would assume the role of Marlena’s look-alike, Hattie Adams in 2004, once played by her sister, Andrea. Over the years, Hattie has come back to Salem and caused trouble giving Hall a chance to play a different type of character, then the always upstanding Marlena.

THE LOVES OF MARLENA
Deidre Hall struck gold with all her leading men: from the late Jed Allan, to Wayne Northrop as Roman Brady, and of course, her enduring love story with the late John Black played by the iconic Drake Hogestyn. In fact, Marlena’s 1986 wedding to John (who was believed to be Roman at the time) remains a favorite of fans to this day.

While the list is long, here are several that were some of the memorable during Deidre’s five decades in Salem!
The Possession (1994- 1995)
Considered one of the most ambiguous, outlandish and unforgettable story arcs in soap opera history, then Days of Our Lives head writer, James Reilly went there! Marlena was possessed by the devil! That included; the demonic eyes, hissing at father John (Black) the priest, morphing into creatures, and the classic levitating in her bed! It became a cultural phenomenon and cemented Deidre Hall’s status as a daytime television legend. Just ask Ryan Gosling!

The Affair with John Black (1993)
John and Marlena’s forbidden love could not be denied and they had passionate affair, while she was still married to the real Roman. Problem was her daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney) caught her mother having sex with John on a desk that changed Sami forever.
The Salem Stalker Mystery (2003-2004)
In a shocker, Marlena was revealed to be a serial killer who bumped off several Salem favorites residents who were all alive on the island of Melaswen (spelled “New Salem” backward). Turns out, she was manipulated and gaslighted by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) to do the “killings” and had no memory of her actions.
The Pier Scene (1991)
This remains Michael Fairman TV’s all-time favorite Deidre Hall moment, which featured some of the best acting in the storied careers of both Hall and Drake Hogestyn.
In the story, a presumed-dead Marlena returns after four years. One foggy night on the pier, John is alone, and Marlena steps out of the fog to reveal herself, and is reunited with the love of her life. You can watch it any year, any decade, and in any moment, and it will have you reaching for the hankies again and again. (best music score fo a soap scene of all-time too!)

Kristen’s Secret Room Reveal (1997)
Marlena was caught in Kristen Blake’s (Eileen Davidson) elaborate web of lies, when she was held hostage in a secret wine cellar/room until John managed to track her down, leading to an iconic on-screen reunion. The classic catfight between Hall and Eileen Davidson was one for the ages.
It should be noted that Maison Blanche, Queen of the Night, Possession, Aremid and Lady in a Cage were all a part of classic DAYS storyline and all featured Hall at the epicenter of it from 1993-1996.
THE RECENT YEARS OF MARLENA
In recent years, DAYS brought back the possession 2.0 storyline under then head writer Ron Carlivati in 2021 where the devil leapt back in Marlena after taking advantage of a frail Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes)
In 2025, viewers watched the end of the love story of John and Marlena, as John succumbed to injuries sustained in an explosion saving a vial of medication needed to bring Bo (Peter Reckell) back to life. Marlena has been a widow on-screen since June of 2025 as Hall as portrayed the good doctor struggling with her grief and to move on with her life since his death.

One story that never goes away is Stefano DiMera’s (the late Joe Mascolo) obsession with Marlena, his “Queen of the Night.” Even in death, Stefano is toying with her from the great beyond with the mysterious chess set and the missing “pawn,” that he had gifted John and Marlena in his will. The mystery is currently unfolding on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives.

Al Calderon Reflects on ‘Major Chapters’ Coming to an End on ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘Brilliant Minds’
It’s been a bittersweet time for Al Calderon. The talented actor/singer/songwriter has watched from his vantage point to roles he loved so much come to their conclusion for different reasons.
In a heartfelt message posted to his Instagram story on Saturday, Calderon took a moment to share how grateful he was for the opportunity to play Javi Hernandez on Days of Our Lives, and nurse Nico Silva this year on NBC’s second season of Brilliant Minds. Currently, Brilliant Minds has two more episodes that will air on June 24 and the series finale on July 1.
Calderon expressed, “As I sit here reflecting on this lovely Saturday afternoon over the last two years of my life, I have two major chapters closing that have been part of my life every day for the last two years. We have Brilliant Minds. Our last episodes are wrapping up, and then my last scenes aired yesterday as me as Javi on Days of Our Lives.

Calderon’s journey on-screen on Days of Our Lives began in October of 2024 and concluded this month. In one of his last appearances Javi was asking a favor from Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) before bumping into his ex, Leo (Greg Rikaart). In story, Javi has a new romance with Gus (Michael Ocampo), while fighting his feelings for Leo. The role of Javi will be played starting on June 30 by Jacob Martinez who takes over the role.
NBC decided to cancel the Brilliant Minds, after it split up the airing of its second season which began in the fall of September of 2025 and the back-half started airing after a long break this past May. Calderon joined the medical drama staring Zachary Quinto for the new season, which sadly was its last.
