DAYS Deidre Hall On Guy Wilson Taking Over The Role Of Will Horton: "He deserves our energy and appreciation and he has mine completely!"

There has been no more endearing on-screen relationship than that of Marlena Evans and Will Horton on Days of our Lives!  Through Will’s struggles to come out, it was Marlena who was his confidante and showed him unconditional love and helped him accept who he is.

Those pivotal scenes and the initial storyline were portrayed by two-time Daytime Emmy winner Chandler Massey and soap icon Deidre Hall (Marlena)!  Now that Chandler has left the NBC soap opera and Guy Wilson has taken over the the role of Will, some fans have yet to come around to accepting Wilson in the role created by the beloved Massey.

In a new post on her Deidre Hall Fan Page on facebook, the actress shared a photo of herself and Guy Wilson and offered up this statement to fans of the long running NBC daytime drama:  “So much has been said about Guy, who has taken over the role of Will. For my 2 cents, there is no more difficult job that replacing a cherished character when the creator has chosen to move on. Such is the job that Guy has accepted. Chandler left the show after winning 2 Emmys and our hearts. Guy is a dear man and an exquisite professional. He deserves our energy and appreciation and he has mine completely.”

Once again Deidre shows class personified in her statement on Chandler’s departure and Guy’s arrival.  What do you think of Deidre’s post on giving Guy Wilson a chance to win over our hearts in the role of Will?  Comment below!

As always, Deidre is showing some class! I’m looking forward to her scenes with Guy. Guy is doing a fine job so far!

Deidre Hall needs a kick butt storyline..She is an amazing iconic actress and needs to be front and center..Maybe reconnect with Roman or a new love interest or some health issues..As for Guy, he is ok, it is so hard replacing a fan favorite who also happens to ben a 2X Emmy winner but lets support this young actor until he finds his own groove and hopefully will make the role of Will his now, but so far its been a little tough to watch.

there is so much potential… coming

with John returning
with Kristen returning
with Brady on the skids – “which I Love” he just hasn’t let up… he CAN act

I think Guy is doing just fine… he’s working his way in to his part… i’m certainly not turned off by nuWill and Sonny… I also liked the few scenes he’s had with Sami… it’ll be interesting to see how he is with Marlena… but… the champ she is… she’ll nurture and let it be…. go for it… tell their new story

Ms. Deidre Hall: “You, Warm MY Heart”

I’m sending you a hug…. a heartfelt fan sentiment… and adulation… for the woman you are

High praise for your part in the stratospheric rise… that DAYS has become

never left my heart… that being said

It’s without question…. you being in your second home… Salem… is your presence

Deidre hall, what can you say, she is a classy, sassy lady. Deidre is a warm loving, friendly lady. Also she is a wonderful actress. Patrick I agree with your comments, 100 percent. I always read your comments, and you always make my day.

that, is a GREAT picture of the two of them

clearly…. their is confidence, admiration, and a collaborative effort

Gramma Marlena and grandson Will

forever

Im fine with him as Will…in the coming months itll feel like he’s always been there. Meanwhile, after many months of haunting, taunting, and scheming against Kate, E.J., Sami and even Abigail and winning custody of baby Ari away from Will and Sonny after proving he is still legally married to Gabi who has had a mental collapse and is sent away for treatment, bad boy Nick is found shot to death on New Years Eve! There are many suspects but since Alison Sweeny is leaving the show she’ll be the one found guilty for Nick’s murder!! But did she do it? Could bird watcher Percy be Nick’s real murderer after he and Nick had a fallout? Stay tune!!! Just playin…lol

LOL

percy the bandit… he’s a little on the peculiar… but, nevertheless (it’s his birds)… this is SO Days… to inject with humor and off sides…

No one could have said it better. So tired of people bashing this young man without seeing how he shapes the character. For my money, he’s done wonderfully thus far. Chandler was a recast, too, if you recall. Did he get this much ridiculous grief just for trying to do a job?

I am with you. Give Guy Wilson a break and a chance. It’s a job and Chandler left by choice. Chill out, enjoy Days and join the escapism that soaps allow.

Not to mention, Guy is doing a good job so far.

Chandler was good, and he is missed, but I think Guy is doing a fine job especially just jumping in the way he had to. It was kind of funny because basically Will (Chandler) went in another room, and then came out Will Guy. At least if some time had passed between switching Wills. Guy even has the same turned up nose as Sammy, and looks like her son. Any way it takes time to get used to a recast, but I think in time Guy will come into his own as Will. He has to be given a chance to develop I the role.

Guy has my support. I’m really rooting for him in the role. I’m glad it was recast and Will’s story can continue to play out. Though, since his debut, we haven’t seen much of him. I think maybe 5 or 6 episodes of him, tops.

Can’t wait to see some scenes between him and Marlena. Those are always winners.

That’s true, have to agree that since he first appeared as Will, the character hasn’t had that much to do other than be a supporting character to others. So, it’s a little difficult to say how well he’s doing in the role. Maybe the producers and writers felt it would be better to ease him into the part so that gradually the viewers become accustomed to him especially since the previous actor who vacated the role made such an imposing impression.

Guy Wilson

your presence is just fine

you are in fine company… an accomplished cast and crew

I love it!

I appreciate her saying such lovely things about Guy. Of course, Guy has already won me over! I’m so impressed with how quickly he has settled into the role. I can’t wait to see his scenes with Deidre. I bet they will be great together!

Deidre is so classy and so beautiful. I just love her.

Guy is doing just fine. I love Days so much!!

What is with the propping of this kid?? Let him play the part and back off!

Deidre’s efforts to urge patience and fairness toward Guy in his role as the current Will Horton is understandable and I am sure a demonstration of what makes the cast of Days the “family” that they are. I have read that actors enjoy working there. I am sure this is one of the reasons why.

I enjoyed Guy during the christening scenes at St. Luke’s. As an actor, I find no fault in him. However, as stated before, I am not a fan of the gay storyline. I avoid scenes between Sonny and Will, especially if they are “romantic” scenes. If there was a way to “undo” the gay Will Horton aspect of Days (I can think of at least one way), I am sure I would enjoy all of Guy’s work.

His scenes are confusing with Freddie because that’s the aura he puts out. Whether or not we need to see him and another guy making whoopee is beside the point. I mean if we all thought it was under the sheets and afterwards just laying there without cleaning ourselves up and laying back down is unrealistic. I don’t watch his love scenes either-but because it looks forced and unnatural between the actors-like they are not embracing who the characters are supposed to be-a couple.

Oh good grief! I thought we were past this insane point of view about gay relationships on Days.

I’m not liking Guy as Will. I’m hoping he’ll improve over time. He needs to loosen up. Be more natural. Not feeling any chemistry between him and Freddie.

Me neither. I think they could have gotten someone else. It looks like he is struggling with who Will is at this point in his life. I don’t see the playfulness. He looks frigid in his love scenes with Freddie-almost uncomfortable. It’s time for Freddie to move on.

I agree, far too much acting with his eyebrows and the pursing of his lips is distracting. Perhaps in time he’ll come up to the caliber of those around him.

Thanks Dedrie for being a classy lady as always. I have loved and supposed him from day one and m very proud to call myself a Guy Wilson fan. He is not only a fantastic actor but on top of that he is a beautiful human being both inside and out. Love you both.

*loved and supported him from

I am a WilSon hardcore fan from the day 1 and I loved Chandler’s Will to bits but I’m too much in love with WilSon lovestory I am just so grateful the show decided to keep telling their story. So I welcomed Guy and support him with any effort. He’s doing really great and people keeping whining about Chandler’s leaving or bashing Guy for being hired are so clueless and disrespectful. Chandler won 2 Emmys and was ready to move on? Ok, fine and good luck to him but if he can move on I can do the same and enjoy the new Will and the amazing gay storyline told by WilSon.

Completely agree with you Antonella. I loved Chandler’s acting but like you said he moved on. Guy seems to be doing very well so far and I see nothing wrong with his acting. Give him a chance people!

Thanks lil for taking the time to read and reply 🙂 I’m so glad there are so many people around who feel the same way.

Guy Wilson was a wonderful choice for a recast of Will Horton. From photos and vines of Guy with various cast members seen on Twitter, it looks like he already fits in and is loved by them. That means just as much to me as Guy’s enthusiasm for playing Will. I think it shows on screen. He’s doing a great job.

I am torn on one hand I find nothing objectionable about Guy’s take on Will, but on the other hand I find nothing exceptional about it either. He reminds of me of vanilla ice cream, I like it, but I don’t love it.

Interesting analogy – simply stated and to the point, Mary. Eventually they need to give the character more screen time, it appears that for the time being he is in a supportive role. I do not sense tremendous chemistry between him and Sonny rather than a gratuitous embrace here and there ~ suffice to say that he is competent actor thus far.

A sweet thing to do and Deidre if you would convince Wayne Northup to come back to Days as Roman I just might start watching this show after a decade. Every time I see a picture of him I think what wonderful chemistry he had with Hall. Sorry Josh Taylor will always be Chris K to me.

I miss Wayne too! Josh is not on much, but when he is, I do think of Chris K. On the bright side, Drake H. is coming back as John Black.

We may not have Wayne as Roman, but you are depriving yourself of a great show. There are many good things happening on DAYS! Give it try!!!

I agree Guy Wilson is doing amazing job as Will.Chandler Massey also did amazing job as Will.I watch days of our lives for years and the Will and Sonny Storyline is the best I seen yet on Days. The only other couple I liked besides Will and Sonny was Ej and Sami.I get tired of people bashing Guy Wilson for taking over the role as Will because Guy is doing a remarkable job as did Chandler.I watch interviews that Guy did and he seems like a really nice and sweet Guy I wish him notthing but the best.He is just as good an actor as Chandler is.
