DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Bo Dies In Major Tearjerker Episode!

How many boxes of kleenex or hankies did you go through watching Friday’s episode of NBC’s Days of our Lives?  If you were like us … plenty!

In a exceptionally well-done episode of DAYS, the writers and producers did not veer away from their “A” story at all.  All scenes and roads related back to the primary tale of Bo Brady (Peter Reckell), and the end of his life, and his enduring and iconic relationship with his “Fancy Face” Hope (Kristian Alfonso)!  Through the use of flashback clips telling the love story of Bo and Hope and classic memorable moments, DAYS delivered closure to long time fans of this supercouple.  However, most viewers did not think Bo’s return back to Salem would end so soon!

In a heartbreaking story filled with beautiful, emotional, and touching performances by Peter Reckell (Bo) and Kristian Alfonso (Hope), and the always stellar work of Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), Stephen Nichols (Patch), and Peggy McCay(Caroline), Bo’s life came full circle.

First, Bo decides he is going to break the news to Hope that he is dying of an inoperable brain tumor.  This is after the surprise party for him at the Brady Pub, where Ciara (Vivian Jovanni) wanted her mother and father to get re-married  and Bo said he needed a minute and leaves.  Next, Bo asks Hope to meet him in the park in their special place.   When they meet up, Bo brings a mini oak tree to be planted, and the two reminisce through a classic time capsule (vintage clips) looking back through Bo and Hope’s relationship spanning decades on DAYS.   Finally, when Bo tells Hope the truth of his condition, she is devastated.  He doesn’t know how long he has to live, and as the episode continues Bo is clearly getting worse.

Elsewhere, Patch and Kayla are trying to come to grips with Bo’s crisis.  Patch thinks Bo will continue to fight this as long as he can.  Kayla lets him know his MRI was so bad, she has no idea how Bo is even walking around.  After much back and forth about their own complex relationship, overcome with the sadness she is feeling about her brother, Kayla lets her self lean on Patch.

And as for Caroline, in one of the more heart-tugging scenes, she relates to Ciara how Bo saved her life, and what a son he has been to her.   She details to her granddaughter, how Bo convinced her get treatment for what was then thought to be Alzheimer’s Disease.  How on earth is Caroline going to cope when she finds out her premonition/vision about Bo dying in the park came true?

On Friday, one of soaps most successful and popular love stories came to an end, and the show honored that with making sure that Bo and Hope played by Peter and Kristian were together on-screen and reunited as Bo dies in Hope’s arms.

What did you think of the episode?  Were you needing the hankies?  What did you think of the performances and seeing all the vintage clips again?  Are you sad that Bo had died?  Share your thoughts on the pivotal moment in DAYS history in the comment section below!

cry like a baby, love BO & HOPE from day1, Peter & Kristain always been a great acting team.

I cried and cried because I wanted them to be back together and everybody be one happy, loving family. All the soap spoilers I read of them killing Bo off I hoped was for the ratings. I hate the way the writers wrote him off so soon too. And Rafe and Hope? He’s a cutie but no Bo. I’ve watched this soap since I was 15 so I’ve watched for 47 years and the flashbacks? I remembered them all. What’s wrong with happy endings?

I couldn’t agree more. Bo was cheated. A character of 32 yrs and they do all that in 24 hrs without him saying goodbye to his mother and children but they go on and on with other ridiculous storylines. Who cared about Serena and Xander and the darn elephant…they could have brought Bo back, and surrounded him with love during the holidays. There’s up enough depressive things goin on in this world, we don’t need soaps to bring us down further. So many fans are upset, and I think I the interview Bo gave he said he was surprised they wrote him off quickly and that he was killed off. People had said he had I out in it all, but it didn’t sound that way,..he talked about cost savings,..did it really cost NBC that much to bring him back? Did they have to keep him in captivity that long?mthe whole story was terribly disjointed.

I totally agree. Bo’s final episode came way too soon. It was such a sad episode. Bo and Hope should of had more time together and have had the chance to remarry. There’s no other couple like Bo and Hope!

Man, these clowns will kill any character to get a spike in the ratings.

And they’re still stuck in last place. Serves them right. I have loved Bo since 1983.

Peter wanted them to kill off Bo and I agree with him. I would rather have Bo dead then have the show recast the part. Peter was Bo and Bo will always be Peter.

In one interview Oeter said he was surprised they killed Bo off and he talked about cost savings…he said he really had fun coming back and playing in the sandbox and was surprised it was so quick… Where did you read Peter wanted to be killed? He as better off not coming back so it would give fans hope that he might return someday….very sad and he deserved much better than the writers gave him. And the bicentennial?… When is that going to Happen? It couldn’t be the death violence and destruction they opgave the fans with lots of extras in the background and no memories of the core characters…the writers are awful of late.

My mother watched this soap when she was pregnant with me and I grew up watching it with her. I hated this storyline. I think after all these years I am DONE. Just once in awhile DOOL could consider happily ever after…..just once.

I have to agree with you, my mom and grandmother watched it, so I grew up also watching Days! I was very disappointed how this storyline played out! Bo and Hope are the Super couple, should have had a Happy Ending! I no longer have interest in watching!

As much as I have loved the recent writing and performances on the show, this feels like a total cheat! Why did the writers waste SO much time on showing Bo being held prisoner and being tortured, only to have him die two minutes after he got back to town? They could have had Bo and Hope reunite months ago, and slowly come to grips with his death, and done a really epic love story in an uplifting humane way!! Instead, we got to see Bo being violently tortured, Hope being strangled repeatedly, Aiden dying, and for what? Bo didn’t even learn why he was being held captive, or by whom. I agree that the Bo and Hope story needed to be continued, or be given proper closure, I just don’t think it was handled in the best way possible. Now we get to see months of Hope grieving, before being propped by Rafe. Through several regimes, the show has propped two characters that JUST DON’T WORK…those being Daniel and Rafe. Other characters and stories have been sacrificed and fallen by the wayside to give these two men leading status. It’s not the fault of the actors! Both are charismatic and talented. But neither of their characters were well thought out before being thrust into story after story. I am a fan of the show, but “Rope”, if that is to be the internet name for Rafe and Hope, do not do it for me.

I was HOPE-ing Hope and Bo would marry one last time in a hospital room,,,and you are right-too much time wasted having him a prisoner ect.,…we didnt need to see that…it couldve been explained offf camera…i knew for a long time there would be a Rafe and Hope pairing…Rope,…Hafe…hopefullly not Rape…lets keep it Rafe and Hope…Aiden and Hope began romantically and ended disasterously when they turned him evil just to make it acceptable to fans to write him out…im going to wait and see before i make final judgement on the pairing!

The writers, in their defence, didn’t have a lot of time. Peter Reckell agreed to return to DOOL for only a few weeks. I was hoping that the writers would have Bo leave Salem again because it was all too much and then after a couple of months recast the role. It wouldn’t be Peter Reckell but there are other actors out there who could do just as good a job. As for Rafe, I like him a lot. There is a rumour that Kristin Aflonso (Hope) has ASKED the producers to put her and Rafe together. Kristin may have re-signed with DOOL after been giving the promise that Hope would have a great story that includes her and Rafe pairing up for more than just getting revenge against those responsible for Bo’s death. Personally, I would love to see John, Marlena, Rafe, Hope and Steve getting together to go after DOOL”s resident whack job Andre.

I agree, I like Rafe a lot and they would be a great couple but I can’t stand that Bo went so soon!

I thought the same thing Dylan, why those weeks of him doing things slowly. They should have rushed him getting out and having more time with Hope and his family and friends.

This Hope and Rafe thing really gets to me. I did not like the scene where Bo saw Hope and Rafe together. That was too much for me and you know what Bo was thinking.
We did not want Bo to die of a broken heart. Thank goodness we got to have a scene with Bo and Hope finally together and Hope coming to her senses.

Rafe is a strong character and why the writers are making him turn into a wimp with “puppy love” eyes for Hope does not wash with me.

Are we to watch Hope get all mushy on Rafe to fill the emptiness left by Bo?
I think Rafe needs a good, mature, strong and pretty latina woman to marry and someone his age..if they want to make another super couple.
Don’t use Hope to fill his emptiness.

Because these are the same writers who thought a serial killer was a great idea. And lingering closeups of the life being strangled out of Will Horton. And the murders of young women, etc. I’m with you — more romance, less brutality. Isn’t there enough violence in the world?

I agree with you Dylan. Too much time was spent on him being captive when he should have already gotten free and made it home to Hope and the children.

Well, now I feel stupid for saying I loved it. I understand what y’all are complaining about though–it was rather rushed.
Keep in mind I am fair weather Days fan and also keep in mind that I am long term disgruntled GH viewer who is so still disappointed with the great Fluke/Luke exit strategy. If Luke and Laura had one tenth of the emotional scenes replete with their history (courtesy of flashbacks)which Hope and Bo had, we L&L fans would have been over the moon. Honestly, we aren’t that hard to please–we’re cheap dates despite what they say. We would have been crying to see Luke die in Laura’s arms begging him to not go. Instead most of us were figuratively kicking his ass out the door while saying,”Don’t let the door hit you.” They say it’s best to always leave the audience wanting more. Most GH fans did not anymore of Luke but I think it’s safe to say Days fans wanted more of Bo. So, the writers, directors, and actors most have done something right. They left you wanting more.

I did not like all of that killing of all those people i do not know why they brought crazy messy noisy mess maker sammy back the shiw was so much better without her. Shirley Thomas Houston Texas

Harry, I totally agree. By the time Luke left, it was like LEAVE ALREADY. Sad to say, but Luke never worked without Laura. I am not denying that there was chemistry with him and Tracy….there was. Ironically, the time I liked and enjoyed Luke the MOST was the time when Geary hated playing him most, during the softer gentler Luke era of Claire Labine. She managed to retain just enough of his edge, but also blend a loving husband, father, and provider in the picture. The last decade of Luke was merely an exercise in Geary’s vanity, where he was allowed WAY more creative control than ANY actor on a soap ever should have. It resulted in one of the most convoluted, contorted storylines perhaps ever in the history of soaps, which cheated and betrayed the audience from beginning until end. Geary wanted the fanfare that would accompany his “retirement”, while sneakily and simultaneously leaving the door wide open for a return one day. Luke should have died from liver failure, and had the reunion with Laura that most fans wanted (not all). As sad as I am about Bo leaving, and as much as I think the story was rushed and cruel to the characters involved, at least Bo went out by Hope’s side. They didn’t deny the fans what they wanted due to ego, rapid production pacing, or writers who did not want to honour history.

Totally agree…the writers to me, are terrible. no deserved so much more…there was no bicentennial celebration either…it was all about depressing storylines…they didn’t show anything that held this soap together for so many years. Alice and Tom and for goodness sake, Doug, who is 90 in real, life, ran “Doug’s Place”…. His love story with Julie was amazing…..and Jack and Jen and Bo and hope and Caroline and Shawn, Kayka and Patch and on and in….where did these writers come from?

Right, Denise? So much sadness and sorrow. I now worry that Ben will take off with the baby.

Oh my God—someone saw and said the same exact thing I feel. Too much time was wasted when Bo was being held by those goons. If they had to have him die, he should have been allowed some time with everybody in Salem so that everybody who mattered to Bo would have had that one last special moment with him. Yes, the episode was very good and hit the target as far as how I felt after we saw Bo take his last breath but at the same time, I kept thinking that there has to be more before Bo really is gone. I thought they could have one last Thanksgiving and Christmas together. This has me quite upset.

Totally agree with you James. They should have given Bo more time with family and friends and with Hope. Have Bo and Hope remarry, have them spend one last Christmas together. If they had spent less time having him in captivity, they could have given Bo more time with family. Having him home for 24 hours and then dying was ridiculous and a waste of Bo’s comeback. But I did love all the flashbacks and the episode itself was done beautifully. I cried like a baby….there will never be another iconic couple like Bo and Hope.

I had hoped he was going to be around for a while longer but that being said, I’m glad that they took that sour taste out of my mouth with Bo abandoning Hope. The character of Bo would not abandon his family. I saw a year ago that Peter was not happy with what happend to Bo and wanted give the fans a real ending to Bo and hope. it was what they deserved.

I agree. I couldn’t believe that Bo would just disappear into the wood work like that with no word to his family. If Bo and Hope had a falling out before he left I could see Bo not communicating with her. But not communicating with his children? Bo Brady would never have agreed to that. He would have found a way to send messages to Shawn, Ciara and Chelsea. Can you just imagine what those three children were going through?

This has been the best 2 weeks on days in a long time and yes the tears have flowed im so heart broken that he is gone but i understand him wanting to go but wish he had changd his mind…….Forever Bo and Fancy face

I’m surprised it ended so soon. I wish they hadn’t wasted so much of his return being held captive. Wish Bope could have remarried.

Totally agree!

I agree more time should have been spent in Salem with friends and family. I love Bo. They could have given at least 6 months. As far as Rafe and Hope, that’s a no no because he was married to her niece Samantha……

I have to say i been a fan of bo and hope since 1995 the are main reason why i become a fan of days of our livews. i am really going to miss peter reckell as bo brady and bo and hope.

I have to say i been a fan of bo and hope since 1995 they are the main reason why i became a fan of days of our lives.i am really going to miss peter reckell as bo brady and bo and hope.

I am torn, part of me hates that yet another iconic character for the show has died– but it was so well done that it is hard to fault it. It sorta reminded me of when Lexi died in Abe’s arms out in their garden. And the snow falling down just after his passing was a nice touch. I don’t get teary eye over death scenes on soaps anymore, always taking them with a grain of salt, but this one felt so final, like this was it, no coming back this time, so I did shed a few tears. And the flashbacks were well selected and pretty much summed up their love story.

Story wise I think it was rather cruel to do all this to Hope all at once. First, Will is murdered, then her new husband tries to kill her and is killed in the process. She barely has time to take that in when Bo dies shortly after she just finds out about the tumor. If she wasn’t depressed before this should be enough to send her over the edge. It would have been nice if Bo could have stuck around a bit longer, but I suppose they didn’t want to drag it out since outcome would have been the same.

But honestly if the show doesn’t balance all these dark and sad stories I might need to take a break from it, and focus on sappy feel good Christmas movies instead.

I think the only death left is Daniel’s.

Danial is going to die? I guess this will beg the question when it happens.
How can you tell?

You’ll notice there is more air time for other characters and there won’t be a goatee and halo floating around.

@Blake, plus DAYS will save big money on bronzing lotion 😉

Lol touche maddie.

@maddiehayes, Doubt it…Brandon Beemer is returning!

LOL jbj, just did a coffee spit-take on my keyboard

I have to agree with MarySF on several points. The balance of the story was off. Hope just married Aiden and he tried to kill her. Her missing ex-husband shows up just in time to save her and kill Aiden. The next day, Bo’s dizzy spells are worse and he goes to the hospital. Lucky for him, his sister is the chief of staff and can expedite the work up. He’s got a terminal brain tumor and wants to tell his family in his own way. Later that same day, everyone comes together for a surprise welcome home party for him. (We say all this happen over several episodes; but, at least two characters specifically mentioned the attempted murder happened last night.) Bo asks Hope to meet him at their special place in the park where he tells her he’s dying and promptly drops dead. Talk about a bad couple of days for Hope!!!!!!!!!

The scene in the park was very touching with all the scenes of the their past together. Long term viewers were definitely in tears. But, I feel everyone has been cheated. There was too much time spend on Bo being held captive and Bo and Steve trying to get back to town. I feel Bo and Hope should have had more time together to come to grips with his dying. They should have grieved together and tired to help each other through the trauma.

I also don’t have much faith in the Salem PD. Just because Aiden used a necktie to try to kill Hope, he’s suddenly the serial killer. Are they unfamiliar with the concept of a copy cat killer? Don’t they do any investigation to see why he tried to kill Hope. They’d find he changed her insurance policy. Why did he kill Serena, Paige and Will? He wasn’t on their insurance policies.

I was balling..both me and my roomie were crying watching it ! Amazing acting !

This is how it’s done! If we HAVE to have an end to Bo and Hope, show us some flashbacks, give us a montage, make us CARE! Peter Reckell’s and Kristin Alfonso’s performances were outstanding, you can’t tell me that wasn’t Peter and Kristin saying goodbye, as well as Bo and Hope! I can’t help but compare DAYS’ handling of “goodbye to a Supercouple” with GH’s goodbye to Luke and Laura. DAYS gave us everything we could want, in spades! GH was pitiful. Just pitiful! Especially when held up against the gold standard that DAYS has always given us in the romance department. They kind of lost their way for a few years, but I can see that the new writers know what they’re doing. My trust in them is complete now. Yes, I agree with Dylan, they should have skipped the torture scenes and Hope getting strangled. Aiden should be the one to pick up the pieces for Hope now. THAT I just don’t understand. Why Rafe rather than Aiden? Because Galen Garing needs a story? Bring back Ben’s sister, they were cute together. But I have only praise for yesterday’s episode. Didn’t think anybody could outdo Lucas crying for Will. But Peter and Kristin did.

Yes, yes and yes, Maddie Hayes.

Absolutely agree! There were some flaws in the storyline as you mentioned but it was so well done. When the snow started falling, I was in tears! Kristen and Peter gave Emmy winning performances that tore at your heart and honoured the love these two characters had for each other and the audience had for them. GH, you have been schooled!

Agree Maggie!

Maddie!! Oops.

I have watched DOOLs since the beginning, and I love the show. Bo and Hope were my favorites, I am sad to see Bo leave, but I am grateful for the time he was on the show, I cried when he died along with I’m sure a lot of other fans! Keep up the good work!!

I am not a Days watcher but have been more than cognizant of Bo and Hope as a supercouple throughout the years. I guess you could call me a fair weather fan,
I tuned in yesterday and thought they did a brilliantly beautiful and poignant job of underscoring the enduring romantic love of this star crossed couple.
While it’s so sad that PR cannot stay on as Bo, yesterday’s show was basically a love letter to faithful Days’ fans. The flashbacks and the stories paid fidelity to their history and gave Bo a graceful adieu. See, GH and Tony Geary? This is how you do it.

Yes, yes and yes, Harry! 😉

Omg plz don’t let him die my heart can’t it… Kill Ben’s butt bring Sammy and ej back

Bo should have been recast. I adore Peter but the character is such an integral part of the show, it was the worst possible storyline just when DOOL needs all the help it can get.

I thought the same thing, recast because it’s strange knowing there will never be a Bo and Hope again.

I was crying through all the flashbacks and the felt like my heart stopped with Bo’s.

OMG…I cried so hard! This was just heartbreaking. Peter will truly be missed. We love Bo Brady.

I haven’t seen this yet, will have to watch it online now! I didn’t know they would kill him off so soon!!! I feel cheated that they spent all those weeks with him trying to get free but less than a week of being home he has a brain tumor, some headaches and dead.

I still can’t believe that we will never have Bo and Hope ever again. That is really odd to me.

I am still in a little shock. I know Peter Reckell was on for a limited time, but I had no idea “Bo Brady” would actually die nor so soon.
The November 20 episode is a keepsake to anyone who recorded it. What makes this so final is we know Peter left the last time to move to Oregon with his wife and family. Peter Reckell returning these few weeks was a gift. Now he is free of the “Bo Brady” character and can go back to Oregon.
I just could not believe the last 30 seconds of Friday’s episode. Did not see it coming.
The way Peter Reckell had weakened to the grass and was trying to say a word and then the scene when he kissed Hope and died right there was so well acted and believable. I sense an Emmy nomination right there.
What bothers me is that spoiled brat “Hope” rejecting and pushing “Bo” away again just like she always did and she would get up her attitude.
After running back to Hope after 3 years of being held hostage, this time, Bo never got to sleep in his own bed with Hope, never stayed the night in his own house, never got to make love to Hope.
His last scenes last time were with Marlena in that alley dive, but this time he never even looked at or spoke with Marlena after he returned. She was standing there like an extra in the Brady’s pub though.
Not even a scene between Bo and Maggie that I recall. Unless I missed a few minutes.

I had always thought we would see Bo and Hope in the future with white hair sitting cozy by the fireplace, like Tom and Alice.

So here is my plea: We know this will be the last time we see Peter Reckell as “Bo Brady” in new episodes. They have given closure. But if there is any way Peter Reckell could come back as “Bo”, in the soap opera way, in the near future, I hope he does.

Even more sad, the Brady family is almost gone. When Peggy McCay leaves (I say it respectfully), it really will be the end of the Brady storyline.

He did sleep in his own bed and made love to Hope. It just happened too quick. All in 24hrs. As if Peter had a timer.

Yes Bo did make love to Hope just be fore he ask Rafe to take care of her. Watch the episode agian he. He knew he was dying but she didd not. He wanted to make love to her one last time. He did make love to her but she told him she could face anything as long as he was with her.

The difference between Bo’s heroic death and Will being alone and terrified death shows everything about what makes these writers think and who they think their audience is. The whole show is a dark and depressing mess, but a middle aged man with a brain tumor can fight off generic terrorists to be reunited with his – weak and faithless wife who was taken in by a con man and then willed like cattle to Rafe – but athletic gay man in his twenties cannot fight back and is thrown away like trash, and we are all supposed to forget him.

On the one hand, I am sure Hope will sit in the front row of Bo’s funeral. On other hand, maybe she’ll promise to be with Rafe as soon as she’s done grieving – with one foot on Aiden’s grave and the other on Bo’s.

The anniversary is a joke. It’s a hateful, dark mean show that assumes the worst of its audience and panders to their worst impulses. Cheap, mean and yucky – as well as sexist and homophobic.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say Hope will be sitting in the first row of Bo’s funeral, and she won’t be walking out on her daughter because she is so grief stricken. That’s a story reserved for “the gays” – and we know what these writers think of them.

I get that Reckell was only back for a short time, but I didn’t need to see him tortured and Hope’s character maligned to prop him. I wasn’t a huge Hope and Aiden fan, but I know what I saw and it was an insult to my intelligence and to Hope’s what was done to Aiden to prop Bo and worse, Rafe.

Galen seems like a sweet guy and Rafe is innocuous enough, but he can’t carry a scene let alone a show. There was no need to stomp on the Haiden fans in such a spiteful way and fire Cosgrove, who is a far better actor. It wasn’t just stupid, it was bad storytelling. Steve had to be the smart one and school the faithless women like Kayla and Hope about what was true. Hello 1950s!

The show is really dark and depressing, and yes, mean.

I cried so hard. It was really a sad, yet beautiful episode. I wish that they didn’t kill Bo off. He is such an incredible actor. Hope & Bo were really a super couple!! Bo will be forever missed. So sad for Hope, they were soulmates. I wish that something else had happened so that he may eventually return to Salem. (Still crying

The manipulation of the audience while Bo was in a “prison” waiting to get back to Hope was unforgivable. If it was the writers intent to bring Bo back to close out the love story they should not have wasted so much time. So in a process of a few weeks we had to deal with the plot of Aiden to kill Hope and then he dies. Then Bo “rescues” Hope from Aiden’s evil clutches only to die too. If I was a straight man I would stay FAR away from Hope. She is complete destruction. Can she please fool around with Patch so we can get rid of that nightmare character. The final scenes of Bo were sweet but I can’t help but feel used and abused as a viewer. So far we have watched so many people die on this show. Serena, Paige, Will, Aiden, Kristen, E.J., Bo and next on the hit list of characters is Daniel. (not that I care, I will pull the trigger myself on that character) If you’re gonna continue on the death train can we end Patch, Lani, Ciara and please let her meet her maker soon, Caroline. That lady and her “visions”. Either knock her off or put her back in the kitchen making macaroni salad and sipping Irish ale. That is ALL that lady is worth.

I’m not an Daniel fan, although I was a fan of making fun of how everyone broke from their lives to exclaim how wonderful Daniel was, but Shawn Christian and Daniel had a fanbase and was a central part of the show for the last few years. It’s bad storytelling to just have him run over by a car by Eric or whatever is going to happen. It would be nice for them to respect his fans, and I don’t like or miss Daniel at all. It just shows that the new writers are interested in their own pets – like Rafe and all the new characters who are going to be introduced – and are about to make all the mistakes that the old teams made with Daniel and Jennifer only this time it’s Hope and Rafe.

I just wish they had hired some writers with a shred of humanity, and not these sadistic “schoolyard bullies” who don’t care what came before and just have a scorched earth policy and assume the audience hates gays and thinks women are weak and need men to tell them what to do.

I can’t handle anyone dishing Caroline. I love her–she’s been around forever and she’s also hilarious. I loved her running around in a dress thrown hastily and sloppily over her patient’s gown.
She’s a kick and a legacy character who brings Days’ history to the light of day.

Any true fan of DAYS knows Caroline is famous for her clam chowder!

Clam Chowder or macaroni salad..just stuff back in the cupboard and let her come out ONLY to bring the other people of Salem their lunch orders….I might feel giving at Thanksgiving or Christmas and let her scoop a little cranberry sauce on the turkey breast that was cooked by someone else….

I enjoyed Bo’s farewell. I thought there was strong acting and I enjoyed the flashbacks. I will never understand why an actor who I won’t name would mandate against flashbacks in his farewell episodes.

However, what ruined it for me was the comment from Jennifer on Thursday’s show stating that Abigail left town “last night.” This means that in less than 24 hours of Salem time, Hope enjoyed her wedding night, was almost murdered, Bo killed Aiden, Hope became severely depressed and became herself again, Bo fainted, Bo was tested at the hospital and diagnosed, he then came terms with his mortality, went to a party and died. Not mention that Abe identified his new daughter and she and Theo became BFFs. COME ON!!! That is ludicrous. Had Jennifer not made that comment, everyone would’ve assumed we were dealing with a couple weeks of Salem time as it should’ve been. That was a really poor continuity/editing/writing point that truly ruined his death for me.

Tony Geary…lol

About as bad as Jason on GH driving all the way to Oregon from ny and gets on a flight to Greece while time stood still in port charles! Oh yes and I kept thinking @ Tony G’s pathetic exit while watching PR’a excellent swan song. bravo to Days for not screwing this up. If we have to lose this character, at least they showed flashbacks!! Props to PR for not having a problem with this and valuing his character and what it means to the fans that love him!

I’ve always said when booking travel – can I find one of those soap opera flights that gets me across the county during a commercial break? LOL

Haha Paul! Continuity has never been a strong suit in daytime. Was it 2 weeks ago, doug, julie, aidan and hope were guzzling down wine and cocktails while everyone else in Salem were starting their morning coffee?

don’t forget that Caroline was miraculously cured and is back to making her clam chowder and opening her psychic station at the Brady Pub..

Lol Mateo

She will have a 1-800 number and call herself Cleo-line the psychic and talk with a faux Jamaican accent…lol

I’m glad the writers had a chance to fix the end to the Bope romance, even though it was pretty slapped together. Meanwhile, we all saw the malice with which the new writers treated Will and Sonny. No flashbacks, no reunion, no respect. The whole thing just sours me more on this dark, grim and hateful show. I loved Bo and Hope as a kid, but I was left cold this week.

And I hear more death and misery is coming….except for Rafe, who will end up ruling all with his magic…mediocrity.

Also, I wonder if PR and KA don’t get along so they crafted the story so they wouldn’t have to be together in very many scenes. But I’m sure Hope will be in the front row of Bo’s funeral.

P.S. Please don’t throw tomatoes at me, but I always have liked Bo and Carly together. Hope always put on her childish act to Bo pushing him away (like Sami does too with EJ and Rafe) and Bo had to get back on his motorcycle and leave until Hope finally says “Bo Bo Bo”, and he had to come back.
But Carly was always there for Bo I thought when they were in love. Bo loved Carly too. That was another emotional scene on Days, when Carly left Bo on the boat ( then played by Robert Kelker-Kelly).

Unbelievably sad. Here’s the clincher. I actually liked Aiden and Hope after finally getting used to Bo leaving. When he came back, my thoughts changed as Aiden did and Bo trying to get back. When I found out he was dying, I was disappointed that the writers would do that. Hope and Bo together again with a grown up Ciera only to be written out. Makes no sense unless it was Peter R.’s terms. He told them he would come back for a bit and that was it. If it was the writers decision – bad one. I think now the idea is to bring Hope and Rafe together. The next super couple – I don’t think so.

It was a beautiful episode, featuring on six characters, with the main focus on Bo, as it should be. The dialogue, the flashbacks, the memories were all perfect. The acting was truly exceptional. The pacing of the story has bothered me, too, but it doesn’t take away from how truly well-done Friday’s show was. I understand why Bo needed a more permanent exit now than he’d gotten the last time Peter Reckell left the show. I do think that killing off half of a beloved supercouple is always risky, and doing it at the holidays is always tough. I’ve lived through this kind of storytelling for a supercouple before on another, now-cancelled show, and it’s not always done with care, or with respect for the couple or the fans. This episode, from start to finish, was done right. I only hope that when Days airs its final episode, Hope and Bo are reunited somehow. I’ve watched too many death scenes in Daytime where characters have died on screen to think that it can’t be done, no matter what Ken Corday said about characters dying and staying dead.

As for the future, I’m not sure how I’ll like Hope’s next story or next love interest. And I’m really not sure how much darkness and grief and pain I can stomach on Days. This story, apart from the Necktie Killer, would have been tough enough to watch. With Will’s death and now Bo’s, any other family like the Bradys would be drowning in grief. I have a feeling that the high ratings may not last if Days doesn’t get away from all this death and sorrow.

sad day for hope and all the bradys I think u should use the drug on him and let it shrink his tumor and do emergencey surgurey and let bo live too much trama for hope to lose not 2 husbands but the love of her life

I like other fans think far toomuch time was spent on Bo’s time in,prison and also nit so many obstaclrs wasting time getting back,to,Salem. I get that he was to save Hope fromAidens intent to,murder her. peters real acting skills camevout when he got to,Salem, overjoyed and elated to see his children. His continual love of Hope, his mom, kayla, Patch and Roman. Those scenes were great. he should have gotten some treatment and leave more peaceful……this is far too harsh and soon after serial killer and Aiden’saction. Im sure Peter would have agreed to an xtra month…..all,in all he was on 2 and a half months. I too dont believe kenCordays “no one who des wont return”………..

It was good to close that story arc, given the actor didn’t want to continue playing that role.
The pacing of the “Bo returns” storyline was frustrating and way too “torture chamber/escape and return” heavy. Then throw what they would spread over 6 months into 6 episodes, combined with Hope’s wedding and almost-murder, etc… And NuCiara’s speech about real wedding ceremonies that don’t mean anything, but a fake one does… I would excuse that type of speech if given by the much younger actress that played her a few weeks back…

Nice to see they fixed the flashback machine that was broken a few weeks ago.

Looks like they’re on track for “Four funerals and a wedding”…

Upon contemplation the only explanation I can think of this time line being so fast is they wanted to get all these things done during November sweeps which is basically only two weeks in Nov. It is those two weeks the networks will based their ad prices for the upcoming television period– all the big stories are wasted if they don’t happen during sweeps because a bump in the ratings in Dec doesn’t really help the network with ad rates, so this is the only thing that might explain why so much happened all at once.

If they had extended it more, they would have needed to wait until Feb sweeps for Bo to die and they simply were not prepare to shell out more money for PR. They wanted him to have a pay cut three years ago which is why he really left, he refused to do it. Sometimes story is not dictated by sense or for viewers but merely for network’s bottom line. Unfortunately sometimes these ratings stunts back fire and in the end they lose more viewers than the they gain in the long term.

The shows were well crafted and supremely well acted by actors who decades of experience together showed. For me though it was ruined by all of the wasted time while Bo languished in captivity. That could have all been conveyed in a few scenes. PR, SN, KBE and KA were all awesome but I don’t feel satisfied with this ending. The should have crafted a story of Bo and Hope reconnecting before his death and there was plenty of time to do that. The whole, I have a massive brain tumor but I’m talking and walking and communicating just fine but this headache is getting annoying was ridiculous. As good as those two last shows were I feel like the fans were cheated of what could have a truly remarkable few weeks.

This breaks my heart , I hope the days will do something to get Bo to stay !! What ever he needs !! Just to let the writers know , they have got a story line with Chase , he would be Zachary , if I was the writer !! I have always believe he was alive !! This has just sit there , I think it’s time , let something good come out of this !! Dimera’s had him , all this time !!

Meh. Cheap, low rent rip off of Lexie and Isabella ‘s death. The only thing original about it was the hatchet job on Hope – who apparently spent a couple of years being totally taken in by a con man and needed big, strong men like Bo and Steve to set her straight and toss her to the next appropriate man who meets with their approval. And apparently Hope got over her feelings, which I assume were real even if it Aiden was retconned to be false, so she needn’t grieve or come to terms with that. After all, she has big, strong men to tell her what she should feeling. That isn’t Hope.

Oh, and yeah, plenty of flashbacks and weeping. That’s what heterosexuals deserve, right? But gays like Will and Sonny deserve die alone and fearful – and are too weak to fight back – and will abandoned their daughters because they too weak to be fathers at times of grief.

This show is morally bankrupt from top to bottom. I don’t even know how it could be aired, except that I figure NBC is just going to cancel it and wash its hands of all the nasty, retrograde messages it’s decided should be at the core of their celebration.

God, what a disappointment all around. This show used to be more morally courageous than most prime time and movies, now it’s run by pandering cowards.

Two legends, same problem, different results! Bo is dead and Luke left town. Either one was given the time to do it correctly. Bo gets back to Salem and is dead! Luke, they rushed one last generic caper and all we got was a note to Laura she has never read, Lulu’s marriage is over and Tony Geary drags himself into the fog! Bo, whether it was Peter’s choice or the shows, thank you for the montage. Tony Geary wouldnt allow this and he really thumbed the fans who watched L&L all these years. Bo is dead but at least Days fans got closure with one of the great super couples of all time!

Agreed Timmm. Pretty certain it was Peter’s choice to leave but at least he never had a problem with his Supercouple status like Geary did. Still a fan of Geary’s work but I appreciate PR allowing Bo & Hope’s ending to wrap up his stay. Best work to date from Peter too!

My sediments exactly, love Tony but I wish he would have had a better send off.

I watched the show on Friday and what did I miss. I did not get a clear feeling died in Hopes arms, or is it just assumed, Help..can someone please tell me what I apparently missed. Thank you.

Read the article about Bo dying on Friday and I’m quite bitter. (I didn’t see the episode because I don’t watch anymore.)

1. “In a exceptionally well-done episode of DAYS, the writers and producers did not veer away from their “A” story at all. All scenes and roads related back to the primary tale of Bo Brady (Peter Reckell), and the end of his life, and his enduring and iconic relationship with his “Fancy Face” Hope (Kristian Alfonso)!”

Really? The day Will died, it was all about Ben & Abigail and other characters. And Will was waiting for their cable guy!

2. “Through the use of flashback clips telling the love story of Bo and Hope and classic memorable moments, DAYS delivered closure to long time fans of this supercouple.”

WilSon didn’t get a single flashback! They were a supercouple. The first gay marriage! With a daughter! They won GLAAD awards for Days. They received many, many accolades and positive attention from the media.

3. “In a heartbreaking story filled with beautiful, emotional, and touching performances by Peter Reckell (Bo) and Kristian Alfonso (Hope), and the always stellar work of Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), Stephen Nichols (Patch), and Peggy McCay(Caroline), Bo’s life came full circle.”

Really? Bo’s life came full circle? Bo grew up on screen? No, but Will Horton did.

4. ” Patch thinks Bo will continue to fight this as long as he can. Kayla lets him know his MRI was so bad, she has no idea how Bo is even walking around.”

How did this 60+ year old man fight back multiple captors after years of abuse AND with brain cancer? Will wasn’t even allowed to fight despite being young and physically fit.

5. “On Friday, one of soaps most successful and popular love stories came to an end, and the show honored that with making sure that Bo and Hope played by Peter and Kristian were together on-screen and reunited as Bo dies in Hope’s arms.”

WilSon didn’t even get to talk to each other. They weren’t reunited and Will certainly didn’t get to die in his husband’s arms. Instead, Ben stuffed Will in a bag like trash. Sonny didn’t even see Will after he died. He looked at a picture. He put another picture on his grave and the wind blew it away. Bo & Hope got to end with reconnecting even though it was short. WilSon ended with Sonny’s ex-lover promising to be waiting for him while standing on Will’s grave site.

Although Bo & Hope were no longer married, I’m sure Hope will be sitting in the front row at his memorial service. I bet the Bradys AND the Hortons will be in attendance. Why didn’t Will Horton get that respect? Will & Sonny were still married and Sonny planned on reuniting, but he sat in the second row and not a single member of his family bothered to be at Will’s memorial service.

I have to agree. Will and Sonny were groundbreaking and Will was a legacy character. The Will/ Sonny love story was what brought me back to Days. Very disappointing ending for them.

Very disappointed that Hope had to lose both her loves. They could have ended Bo/Hope without making Aiden the villain and killing him off. I was actually a Haiden fan and Daniel Cosgrove shouldn’t have been let go. I cannot see Rafe & Hope together at all. No chemistry.

I am trying to find a reason to continue watching with so many favs being killed off.

I don’t think Wilson were a supercouple in the sense they didn’t get to have 30 years together like Bo and Hope did. And that’s the point. Will should have NEVER been killed in the first place. Sonny and Will should have been given the chance — they had all the potential to be an enduring presence on the show. If they wanted to shelf the gay couple for a bit they could have them leave town together or had an open ended death, like they did when KA left the show for a bit. For a while Bo moved on to Billy and Carly but then KA came back and Bope was back on. CM might have wanted to come back one day and the actor who played Sonny might have too. There was no need to kill either of them or do it in the most insulting way possible— sorry all Wilson fans were cheated out the joy we Bope fans had for years, it wasn’t right, and as the world continues the evolve perhaps one day this will no longer be an issue and all characters gay or straight will be treated the same.

Are Wilson and Haiden fans the same group of people? They make me fear the internet…

No kidding. It’s not a gay vs. straight thing, it’s all about history and who put this show on the map. There is no comparison of the two couples. None whatsoever.

Having gotten that off my chest, I am very disappointed with the way it was all handled. I agree too much time was spent with Bo in captivity, and all this happening in less than 24 hours is absolutely ridiculous. Why couldn’t a few days pass so Hope can deal with her tragedy before slamming her with another? And I’m sorry, you don’t kill off Bo Brady. You just don’t. Bope is the reason this show has survived 50 years while other soaps were cancelled. All other couples are secondary. Why not let Bo slip into a coma? That would leave the door open for his return. Look at Doug & Julie, that’s what Bo & Hope should be. Let them grow old together, even if they are only bit players. Last but not least, Rafe and Hope together is wrong. He was married to Sami and dated Carrie. Hope was babysitting Carrie for goodness sake! She is at least 13 years older than Rafe. No one wants to see that. Rafe and Lani makes much more sense. Ugh.

The episode was excellently done. Was it Peter Reckell’s idea to have Bo die ? No other actor could have done justice to the role. It was great having him return but did the writers have to make Bo history? She may only be a character but I feel so bad for Hope. Maybe this will all just be a dream from being attacked

Peter only wanted to do it for 13 weeks and said it would be final. They wanted to give the fans closure.

He did it for 10 weeks not 13….,,on Sept 8 off Nov 20….i,am sure this short stint had something to do,with, Ken Corday and his as taff

I’m not talking about how long he was on, it’s been reported that he signed a 13 week contract.

Thank you. I was not aware that Peter signed a short term contract. I will miss the character of Bo but respect that Peter did what he had to do. He gave life to Bo as a character & with him being gone, the character could never be the same. Thank you Bo and thank you Peter. Much happiness in your future endeavors.

And while speaking of character’s leaving DOOL . . . as evil as Stefano is, I will miss Joe Mascolo. I wish you better health in the days ahead & will miss you.

it may not have been peter reckell’s idea for bo to die but evidently he was on board with the idea other wise he would not have agreed to come back – remember he said he only came back to give closure to the character of bo brady…………………..

I have been watching Days for 50 years. I was so sad to see Bo die. I fault the previous writers because that wrote such a pathetic explanation for Bo leaving. I just can’t understand why they didn’t recast Bo. I love Peter Reckell and it was evident he was unhappy with the direction of the show and left. So recast the part. Eventually the audience will accept the new actor if TPTB do their homework and cast the right person. Yes, Peter Reckell played Bo and was wonderful, but it was the character that I loved. So now one of the most beloved Brady is gone for good. Plus it’s sad you have to bring back all these old characters to save a soap. They had such a great story with Eric and Nicole and they ruined that. Eve was a great character and they fired her. Ruined Aiden’s character, killed Paige. All ridiculous to me. The only good thing is Dr. Dan leaving. I may start watching the CBS soaps.

I am very disappointed that Bo has died., however, Bo set the stage for Hope’s next love when he talked to Rafe. I think they will be good together, but he isn’t Bo. i wish the story line would have been more about his struggle to overcome the odds. I am confused by all of the turmoil in the story. I don’t like Ben at all and I hope that he leaves the show and Abby and Chad reconnect. I believe the baby is his anyway. I have watched this show for more than 50 years. I guess I’m confused with the direction the show is taking. Disappointed.

I cried it was so heart breaking watching him take his last breath with hope in his arms omg I’m going to. It’s seeing them together but I think Rafe is who she gone end up with… I hope!!

I think I started watching Days regularly during one of the previous resets, where Sarah Brown joined, Jack, Carrie, and Austin returned, etc. So I’m not a longtime viewer.

BUT I have to say this episode was the best-written and put together episode of this soap I have EVER seen, and I liked that it only featured six characters. NuCiara is still trying to win me over (and she really hasn’t yet, this girl needs to work on her speech I think), but the involvement of Kayla/Steve and Caroline was pitch perfect, and I like the parallel of another Salem supercouple and the oldest/youngest generation around Bo/Hope discussing what was and what might be next for the couple, while Bo and Hope, in the present, were forced to say final goodbyes. The structure of the episode was really well done, and a lot actually happened. Hope learned Bo had a tumor, they reminisced about old times, and then he died. Geez! Talk about a quick death.

But what I liked was the emotion and weight of the dialogue, the flashbacks (to moments I never saw as a relatively new viewer), the grounded reality of what was occurring, and the quietness of it all. There were some tears, some screaming, but for most of the episode, there were just quiet moments. Kayla opening up to Steve again, their decision to watch the sunset together in silence. Bo and Hope were gripping at each other so much, so tightly, and so deeply, it was like they wanted to take comfort by crawling into each others’ skin. They felt very much “one” in this episode, and it was good to see a bit of what all the fuss was about with this couple.

The young Hope flashbacks and Bo’s comparison of Hope/Ciara only made the young actress playing Ciara that much more grating, when Kristian Alfonso had so much more charisma as Hope in her early days than Ciara does now. But this episode wasn’t about Ciara, so I’m going to leave that alone.

But overall, I was moved more by this episode talking about a couple I never really got to see than I have been by any episode of Days I ever saw before. And it was because the show kept it simple, kept it streamlined, kept it true to history, and kept it human. Well done.

The whole idea of Bo coming back for such a short time Sucks. Horrible writing. What a waste of my time watching this horrible Soap series. Can’t you write something more happy for the Holidays. Why bring him back to tear everyone down. Not sure Days is going to be successful soap anymore with these writers 🙁

I agree wanted Bo around longer. I hate he was only back for such a short time.

I think what made me cry the most was the previous day when Bo met with Rafe and gave Rafe his blessing to be with Hope. Very good scene between those two actors. I agree with the majority here who feel it would have been nicer to see less prisoner footage and more footage of Bo in Salem with his family and friends while he and everyone deals with his dying. But I guess I understand the writers wanting more of Bo’s time being spent doing heroic things instead of Bo being terminally ill for months. I don’t see how Hope’s character is going to recover from this. A lot of trauma for her in a very short time frame. I can only imagine what is in store for her now.

Im sorry maybe its just me i dont see any chemistry between Hope and Rafe did i miss it snd am I still missing. Nope nothing there.

cried a river, so sad about Bo.

Some people can’t be satisfied. I’m sure it’s challenging to coordinate all of the required elements that must all work in lockstep for a show that appears every weekday. I can’t help but think we’d still have some of our other soaps on TV if people would have just been more understanding and more measured and respectful with their posts over the years. Oh how I’m beginning to wish social media and comment strings would just go away. I’m tired of everyone’s taking issue or offense with every freaking thing. Not everything is about us gays, and like I’ve said at other times, where is the outrage for the women who are killed by serial killers on these shows decade after decade.

Now, let’s give respect and recognition for a brilliant epic love story portrayed by Kristian and Peter. Bo & Hope are just as iconic as Luke & Laura, and we who remember those first days as if it were yesterday needed closure that was true to Bo’s heroic character. The episode was sad, and it was shocking. When was the last time anyone was shocked by a soap cliffhanger? Maybe the drama and the cruel tragedy combined with the suddenness was the point? Those few final scenes with Bo and Hope packed more heartfelt drama than most actors can deliver in a year, is all I needed. Don’t second guess those who are working hard to make all these moving parts and schedules work together to create the brilliance we got to enjoy. Be grateful. Be thankful. DAYS is awesome. Even if for a while, we get a glimpse of the glory days right here in 2015! Geez, people, enough of the negativity!

Enough with the negativity? The show turned dark, hateful and depressing to celebrate its big anniversary. The writers sent a blatantly hateful message with Will’s death and his funeral that gays were trash and their families false. That is negative, and it inspired negativity. If you deny it was political, tell me one other supercouple where the spouse sat in the second row at their funeral in the history of the show.

Moreover, when it came to Bo and Hope – there was very little of what made Bo and Hope special in his death. They were always a team, working together to solve cases and have adventures. That was what made them special, but there was none of that because the agenda was to hatchet Aiden and set up Rafe and Hope – which should not have been the core of the end of Bope.

I had nothing but goodwill for this show and a desire for its long survival when the new writers came, now I feel bludgeoned by it.

I’m glad Bope fans got closure, but I wish Bo’s return had been about Bo and Hope – and I wish they let Hope keep her intelligence and not portray her as weak and needing of men to keep her on the right path. I think a true love triangle between Bo/Hope/Aiden would have been natural, organic and truly soapy. But because the writers have their own agenda and messaging – we have gotten nothing but negativity since they arrived.

KA and PR were outstanding, but that doesn’t change the disrespect to Hope as a character that has been at the core of this story, and people are going to react negatively to it.

Im glad i wasnt the only one who notice Sonny sat in rhe second row. And why the didnt let him see Wills body at the morgue. And why Kiriakas was not on Wills tombstone.

I agree with Annie. No shouldn’t have never died. They should have moved away to another town or something like Sammie did. I was so upset. The writer really sucked on this episode. Please don’t let Abigail die and I hope Ben gets caught. He is extremely crazy.

Bo shouldn’t have died.

Loved Bo and Hope…..I was hoping that he just passed out and there would be some kind of cure later on..please let it be a dream….don’t let Bo die just yet too soon after Aiden…..you can work this out…you need Bo for rating

Such a sad episode, very well played out was really hoping that Bo’s return would make a wonderful storyline where Bo and Hope would rekindle their relationship and their family would be whole again and they lived happily ever after, too good to be true. So hoping that this is just a bad dream, very disappointed that Bo’s return was so short lived(pardon the pun).Would love to have watched Bo and Hope grow old together,I shed many tears:(

Yes I am sad
And was hoping
Yours
Would Then
Find a cure
And not
Taking
Him off
Show

I really wish you could of kept Bo alive . I have waited along time for his return . I think it sucks that you killed him. It almost makes me not want to watch the show anymore.

I can’t do this justice

thursday and friday tribute to ; Bo and Hope

wrung me out… all my senses are on fire and triggered

Bo presence; dying; Hope’ Love ; Brady propulsion; implosion of love ; blast of reel

just staggered and won’t let go

this is going to keep me magnified and stupor

to witness love in all it’s definition

i cried for two hours… a love complete returned

an ebb and flow; a wave after wave; of emotion that stirred why DAYS does it best

this two hour bubble won’t go away

My days are done…..Too lmany young people not enough actting experience and depth to story line of days. Why bring peter REcktell back and not keep the depth to Days… UGH!!!!!
Done – next will be Stefano, Victor , Daniel, Abigail, etc., etc., etc. Call it a different name.

Left my comment…..Days gone by…..not the same show…..
