Days Of Our Lives
‘Days of Our Lives’ Brings Lexie Carver Back to Life! Nikki Crawford Takes On the Role
- Nikki Crawford is the new Lexie Carver when she is seen beginning on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives starting March 6.
- Lexie was previously played by fan favorite Renée Jones who left the show in 2012, after Lexie died from a brain tumor.
- In the storyline, Dr. Rolf and EJ have resurrected Lexie and she will be the person revealed in the pod.
As predicted, the person in the pod in the lab of EJ’s (Dan Feuerriegel) and Dr. Rolf’s (Richard Wharton) on Days of Our Lives will be revealed to be none other than Lexie Carver, the late wife of Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and DiMera family sibling.
The moment will occur on this Friday’s, March 6 episode of the Peacock streaming soap opera. The character formerly played by fan favorite, Renée is now also being given new life by actress Nikki Crawford when she assumes the major role.
In story, Lexie passed away from a brain tumor, and in her husband’s arms, in an unforgettable in DAYS history back in 2012. But being that she is the biological daughter of Stefano DiMera there is always plenty of scientific and experimental shenanigans going on and this time, its revealed Dr. Rolf has been keeping Lexie in this state for years to finally resurrect her.

Speaking with TV Insider, Nikki Crawford explained her take “I played it more like she was in a coma for these last 15 year. I really honored who she was, but I also grounded her in who she is. I would say at her core, Lexie is driven.”
Crawford explained if she has trepidation taking on a role: “That’s always a challenge, I think, coming in as somebody who was as beloved as Renée Jones was. What she did was iconic, and she really created something wonderful. It’s understandable why the audiences loved and were invested in her and then were torn apart when she left. I saw it more as an opportunity to honor what audiences have loved, while bringing truth to who Lexie is today and creating upon what Renée had previously built. So, it was exciting but also, there was a bit of trepidation just because I know the love that people have for Renée.”

“Her return is going to shake things up, especially with Abe now being married to Paulina. But I think what makes her relatable is that she’s willing to fight for what she loves. Most people, if given a second chance, would do the same thing. So, she may come in with love, but she’s not coming in quietly.”
For those who may not be familiar with Crawford’s previous stage, TV and film work, she earned a Tony Award nomination in 2023 for Best Featured Actress in a Play for Fat Ham, and has has appeared in TV series such as: Tracker, Criminal Minds, A Different World, Malcolm in the Middle, Pretty Little Liars, 9-1-1- and Elsbeth.
Nikki becomes the sixth actress to play the role following Cyndi James Gossett, Angelique Francis, Shellye Broughton, Jennifer Lee and the aforementioned Renée Jones, who played Lexie from 1993-2012.
DAYS fans will need to tune-in to see how Lexie’s shocking resurrection changes the complexity of Abe’s marriage to Paulina (Jackée Harry) her status with the DiMera family and so much more.
So, excited to see Nikki Crawford as the new Lexie? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
Renee Jones was so good as Lexie!
There have been many storylines like this one. I cannot say IMHO the further the genre. DOOL being over-the-top is its DNA, I know, but I am weary of these fanciful resurrections. And isn’t funny that no one every talks to others about their years in life suspension, even when there are several people in the town who went through the same thing.
Not sure why the need to bring back Lexie of all people.
I feel like this is about to be a fakeout. In my gut I feel it.
i am so not here for this and i’ve been a days fan for over 45 years ! these writers are a trip what happened to we are going back to the old days no over the top storylines i’m sorry but the fast forward button is about to come in handy ! oh and channel is gonna be written out because she would really leave her mother while this was going on. if renee jones isn’t lexie the entire thing is unnecessary
Well as I said.. it was a 50/50 shot it was either Lexie or Abigail. Though I’m not sure why in Hell’s name Gwen Rizchek (or however she spells her name) would want to bankroll the re-animation of somebody she never met. She would have been more likely to fund Abigail’s “resurrection”, not because she loved her sister all that much, but because their daddy Jack does.
Now Elvis, on the other hand. I could see why he would want to bring Lexie back. She’s the only DiMera who never relocated down here to Hell, and bringing her back might help him keep up his own recent pretentions of being a “good” DiMera. Certainly in the eyes of his nephew Theo, who will be happy to reunite with the mother he barely remembers. Of course he’s admitted that he also wants to cash in on this “miracle drug”, but you would think the fact that it already brought Bo Brady back from a long term coma (and very close to dying again himself) would be a good enough test case to attract the type of big pharma attention he’s looking for there.
As to how this will impact Abe & Paulina’s marriage… Hell only knows. With Johnny & Chanel leaving Salem before too long, it might be a good time to write Paulina off the canvas herself, should Abe decide to reunite with the “true love of his life.
Is this the DAYS equivalent of Erica’s unabortion on AMC? The retcon of something so ingrained in show history?
No, the DAYS equivalent of the “unabortion” was when Billie Reed had a miscarriage in a Lousiana swamp. And 5 years later that miscarriage showed up as a perfectly healthy 17 year old girl named Chelsea.
Sorry, but if Renee Jones wasn’t willing to return I absolutely don’t give a crap about Lexie being back…
DOOL went off the rails of reality under James E. Reilly to the point that half of today’s story lines further strain credulity. It’s downward spiral–story wise–started when Anne Marcus was given the reins and suddenly core characters were given back stories and written in ways that were totally not who viewers had known since Day One.
So, was Lexie cryogenically frozen? Is she supposed to be the same age as when she died? Crawford is 15 years younger than Jones and 27 years younger than Reynolds.
Her body has been in a cryogenic tube in Dr Rolf’s “secret lab” under University Hospital for months now. Apparently he must have been keeping her on ice somewhere else before that lab was built, though I could have sworn I saw her name in the DiMera family crypt at some point in the past.
Of course we all know that family pretty much has a revolving door policy with the afterlife as it is.
I’m sorry but I think there’s something wrong here. They have Lexi dying in 2012, my husband passed in 2011 and I remember him watching the episode with me when Lexi died. So it’s not possible that she died in 2012 I think it was more closer to the 80s or 90s when she died. And I’ve been watching days since I was a little girl and I’m 63 years old now. Lately I would go on Peacock and think about watching some of the old episodes with Bow and Hope and all, well I went to it today so I could go back and watch the episode when Lexi died and now you can’t watch Butt season 60 or 61 why did they do that all of a sudden? I think their dates are really off
They are off. And the producers suck. The show is not the same anymore. They really don’t know what they’re doing
This is the second time posting this the first time they didn’t approve it wonder why

Show is just becoming more and more disappointing. STOP repeating so much of the day before on the show! SMH!!!!!
The show is going down hill! Just look at how many of our longtime actors/ actresses are leaving the show and going to other soaps. It’s getting ridiculous. Days really need to treat the actors better from what I understand.
