Need to Know

  • Nikki Crawford is the new Lexie Carver when she is seen beginning on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives starting March 6.
  • Lexie was previously played by fan favorite Renée Jones who left the show in 2012, after Lexie died from a brain tumor.
  • In the storyline, Dr. Rolf and EJ have resurrected Lexie and she will be the person revealed in the pod.

As predicted, the person in the pod in the lab of EJ’s (Dan Feuerriegel) and Dr. Rolf’s (Richard Wharton) on Days of Our Lives will be revealed to be none other than Lexie Carver, the late wife of Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and DiMera family sibling.

The moment will occur on this Friday’s, March 6 episode of the Peacock streaming soap opera. The character formerly played by fan favorite, Renée is now also being given new life by actress Nikki Crawford when she assumes the major role.

In story, Lexie passed away from a brain tumor, and in her husband’s arms, in an unforgettable in DAYS history back in 2012. But being that she is the biological daughter of Stefano DiMera there is always plenty of scientific and experimental shenanigans going on and this time, its revealed Dr. Rolf has been keeping Lexie in this state for years to finally resurrect her.

Speaking with TV Insider, Nikki Crawford explained her take “I played it more like she was in a coma for these last 15 year. I really honored who she was, but I also grounded her in who she is. I would say at her core, Lexie is driven.”

Crawford explained if she has trepidation taking on a role: “That’s always a challenge, I think, coming in as somebody who was as beloved as Renée Jones was. What she did was iconic, and she really created something wonderful. It’s understandable why the audiences loved and were invested in her and then were torn apart when she left. I saw it more as an opportunity to honor what audiences have loved, while bringing truth to who Lexie is today and creating upon what Renée had previously built. So, it was exciting but also, there was a bit of trepidation just because I know the love that people have for Renée.”

“Her return is going to shake things up, especially with Abe now being married to Paulina. But I think what makes her relatable is that she’s willing to fight for what she loves. Most people, if given a second chance, would do the same thing. So, she may come in with love, but she’s not coming in quietly.”

For those who may not be familiar with Crawford’s previous stage, TV and film work, she earned a Tony Award nomination in 2023 for Best Featured Actress in a Play for Fat Ham, and has has appeared in TV series such as: Tracker, Criminal Minds, A Different WorldMalcolm in the MiddlePretty Little Liars, 9-1-1- and Elsbeth.

Nikki becomes the sixth actress to play the role following Cyndi James Gossett, Angelique Francis, Shellye Broughton, Jennifer Lee and the aforementioned Renée Jones, who played Lexie from 1993-2012.

DAYS fans will need to tune-in to see how Lexie’s shocking resurrection changes the complexity of Abe’s marriage to Paulina (Jackée Harry) her status with the DiMera family and so much more.

So, excited to see Nikki Crawford as the new Lexie? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

Renee Jones was so good as Lexie!

There have been many storylines like this one. I cannot say IMHO the further the genre. DOOL being over-the-top is its DNA, I know, but I am weary of these fanciful resurrections. And isn’t funny that no one every talks to others about their years in life suspension, even when there are several people in the town who went through the same thing.

Not sure why the need to bring back Lexie of all people.

I feel like this is about to be a fakeout. In my gut I feel it.

i am so not here for this and i’ve been a days fan for over 45 years ! these writers are a trip what happened to we are going back to the old days no over the top storylines i’m sorry but the fast forward button is about to come in handy ! oh and channel is gonna be written out because she would really leave her mother while this was going on. if renee jones isn’t lexie the entire thing is unnecessary

Well as I said.. it was a 50/50 shot it was either Lexie or Abigail. Though I’m not sure why in Hell’s name Gwen Rizchek (or however she spells her name) would want to bankroll the re-animation of somebody she never met. She would have been more likely to fund Abigail’s “resurrection”, not because she loved her sister all that much, but because their daddy Jack does.

Now Elvis, on the other hand. I could see why he would want to bring Lexie back. She’s the only DiMera who never relocated down here to Hell, and bringing her back might help him keep up his own recent pretentions of being a “good” DiMera. Certainly in the eyes of his nephew Theo, who will be happy to reunite with the mother he barely remembers. Of course he’s admitted that he also wants to cash in on this “miracle drug”, but you would think the fact that it already brought Bo Brady back from a long term coma (and very close to dying again himself) would be a good enough test case to attract the type of big pharma attention he’s looking for there.

As to how this will impact Abe & Paulina’s marriage… Hell only knows. With Johnny & Chanel leaving Salem before too long, it might be a good time to write Paulina off the canvas herself, should Abe decide to reunite with the “true love of his life.

Is this the DAYS equivalent of Erica’s unabortion on AMC? The retcon of something so ingrained in show history?

No, the DAYS equivalent of the “unabortion” was when Billie Reed had a miscarriage in a Lousiana swamp. And 5 years later that miscarriage showed up as a perfectly healthy 17 year old girl named Chelsea.

Sorry, but if Renee Jones wasn’t willing to return I absolutely don’t give a crap about Lexie being back…

DOOL went off the rails of reality under James E. Reilly to the point that half of today’s story lines further strain credulity. It’s downward spiral–story wise–started when Anne Marcus was given the reins and suddenly core characters were given back stories and written in ways that were totally not who viewers had known since Day One.

So, was Lexie cryogenically frozen? Is she supposed to be the same age as when she died? Crawford is 15 years younger than Jones and 27 years younger than Reynolds.

Her body has been in a cryogenic tube in Dr Rolf’s “secret lab” under University Hospital for months now. Apparently he must have been keeping her on ice somewhere else before that lab was built, though I could have sworn I saw her name in the DiMera family crypt at some point in the past.

Of course we all know that family pretty much has a revolving door policy with the afterlife as it is.

I’m sorry but I think there’s something wrong here. They have Lexi dying in 2012, my husband passed in 2011 and I remember him watching the episode with me when Lexi died. So it’s not possible that she died in 2012 I think it was more closer to the 80s or 90s when she died. And I’ve been watching days since I was a little girl and I’m 63 years old now. Lately I would go on Peacock and think about watching some of the old episodes with Bow and Hope and all, well I went to it today so I could go back and watch the episode when Lexi died and now you can’t watch Butt season 60 or 61 why did they do that all of a sudden? I think their dates are really off

They are off. And the producers suck. The show is not the same anymore. They really don’t know what they’re doing

This is the second time posting this the first time they didn’t approve it wonder why

Show is just becoming more and more disappointing. STOP repeating so much of the day before on the show! SMH!!!!!

The show is going down hill! Just look at how many of our longtime actors/ actresses are leaving the show and going to other soaps. It’s getting ridiculous. Days really need to treat the actors better from what I understand.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Dan Feuerriegel Teases the Mystery of Marlena’s Chess Set, and Opens Up About the Departures of His Co-Stars (Exclusive)

EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) is always in the thick of things on Peacock’s Days of Our Lives. Currently on all-new episodes his pet project to bring his sister, Lexie Carver (Nikki Crawford) back to life, seems in part, successful.

Meanwhile, his machinations with the women in his life continue as viewers wait to see just what he may remember about Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) and his past, and what trouble he and Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) will stir up, and that’s only part of EJ’s story.

Recently, viewers learned at the reading of Stefano’s will, that the Phoenix’s Queen of the Night, Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) was bequeathed a chess set. In fact, Stefano left it not only for Marlena, but her late husband and Stefano’s ultimate adversary, John Black. Clearly, there is more to the story, after Marlena declined the gift and walked out without saying a word, opening up another mystery.

In a brand new conversation with Days of Our Lives leading man and villain, Dan Feuerriegel now featured on You Tube’s Michael Fairman Channel, he previews just how EJ may be deployed into the mystery of Marlena’s chest set from his father, the iconic Stefano DiMera.

CHECKMATE

First, Feuerriegel weighed-in on what EJ truly thinks of Marlena. “Respects, but cautious. Marlena’s the Queen Bee,” explained Dan. “So, there are some people on DAYS that EJ will not mess with, shall we say, and Marlena is one of those characters.”

As to what is up with the chess set that Marlena was given and turned down at the will reading, Dan shared, “There’s some fun that that occurs with that chess board and shall we say, like a little adventure. Obviously, EJ is suspected of having something to do with this, but also, in regards to the will reading, he was shut out. So, he’s curious. EJ’s kept a little bit to the side about what it is, because it’s his father. However, it’s going to lead to some pretty fun stuff.”

EJ has always wanted his father’s respect, so might that be what drives him to make sure Stefano’s wish with Marlena is carried out? Dan weighed-in. “I think in the end, EJ will do what his father wanted. So, whatever that entails that’s what he’ll do. With this and the chess set, he’s a little bit out of the loop, which is infuriating for him, but it also gives him a lot of curiosity. He definitely wants to keep himself involved. But as I mentioned, he’s kept to the side a bit, but he’ll get his mitts in there somewhere.”

THE HARD GOODBYES

In soap operas, cast members come and go, and sometimes, often like a baseball team analogy, they are traded from one show to another, or their story has run out for now. But in soaps, never say never.

For Dan, he had to say goodbye to some very key members of his on-screen family when they departed Days of Our Lives for various reasons: his on-screen brother, Billy Flynn (ex-Chad, now Cane, Y&R), on-screen son, Carson Boatman (Johnny) and on-screen sister, Stacy Haiduk (Kristen/Susan, now Patty, Y&R). As DAYS fans know, the series tapes ten-months in advance of dropping new episodes, so fans can expect to see both Boatman and Haiduk firmly in their Salem roles for months yet to come.

BILLY FLYNN

“It was a bit of a bummer because I had developed a close bond with him and he was a lovely guy,” Dan shared fondly. “We shared a lot of the same kind of humor and views on the world and things like that. We were able to chat and it was shame. But look, Billy’s got a big family now, and he needs to do what’s best for him and his wife and his family. And so, you completely understand it. Then, Connor Floyd came in and Connor is just as lovely. It kind of sucks because the guy that is more handsome than me leaves, and then is replaced with a guy just as handsome. I’m like, ‘okay, alright.”

Photo: JPI

CARSON BOATMAN

It’s no secret that some of the best scenes were always between EJ and his son, Johnny. So, when Carson Boatman was let go from the show late last year, it was hard for all involved. “It’s a similar situation to Billy to be honest. It’s like the people that I loved the most moved on from the show and it’s sad,” shared Dan. “It’s because Carson and I were friends outside of the show. We would hang out and just like me and Billy we’d talk to with each other and everything like that and that just translated into (our on-screen) father/son dynamic.”

Photo: JPI

STACY HAIDUK

Since Dan became the new EJ DiMera back in 2021, he had the opportunity to work with Stacy Haiduk not only as EJ’s sister, Kristen, but as the wacky Susan Banks, EJ’s mother! Here he sums up his experience working with Haiduk and the respect he has for her as a performer.

“I adore Stacy so much. Whenever she plays (Susan Banks) my mother, it’s so much fun,” said Feuerriegel. “They give her so much dialogue and the way she talks is so different. Stacy will improvise a little bit here and there. But the amount of times I’ve had to bite my lip from not laughing because she just makes such great, fantastic, outrageous choices … and she’s also an absolute sweetheart. Then, to go from that, to the dynamic of Kristen where it’s very brooding and a very similar brother/sister dynamic, it’s fantastic. To be able to work with with her was really, really lovely. She’s an amazing woman and a fantastic actor. I know she’s at Y&R now which is great. But, that’s another a bummer for me. There’s been a few little heartbreaks for me, personally.”

Now below, check out our full conversation with DAYS Dan Feuerriegel now on the Michael Fairman Channel, where we touch on many subjects on the life and times of EJ DiMera.

Then weigh-in: what do you think is the story behind Marlena (and her late husband John) being gifted the chess set by Stefano? What are your hopes for EJ DiMera in the months to come? What did you think about the sentiments shared by Dan on the departure of several of his beloved co-stars? Drop your thoughts in the comment section.

DAYS OF OUR LIVES Preview: Lexie Emerges and Shocks Abe as the DiMera Family Gathers for The Reading of Stefano’s Will

Next week on all-new episodes of Days of Our Lives, finally it looks like Lexie Carver is fully resurrected when the character now played by Nikki Crawford stumbles into a DiMera family gathering, which is supposed to be for the reading of Stefano DiMera’s will.

In the Peacock video teaser, as EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and company toast the Phoenix, the secret tunnel door swings open, and out stumbles out Lexie! Meanwhile, Dr, Rolf (Richard Wharton) realizes Lexie is gone and no longer in her bed. When Abe (James Reynolds) sees his beloved Lexie, he is absolutely stunned. But the question is, when Lexie speaks, is she the Lexie of old, or will her memory and brain be all scrambled eggs?

As longtime DAYS viewers know, the part of Lexie was portrayed for years by Renee Jones, who retired from acting after her run which lasted from 1993-2012. At the time of her departure, Lexie was killed-off with an inoperable brain tumor.

DAYS Lauren Koslow Temporarily Fills-In for Jess Walton as ‘The Young and the Restless’ Jill Abbott

Published

on

By

In a ironic twist, Lauren Koslow, who currently plays Kate Roberts on Days of Our Lives is returning to The Young and the Restless to play Jill Abbott while temporarily filling in for Jess Walton. Koslow will appear for five episodes beginning on Thursday, June 25.

Koslow first appeared on The Young and the Restless back in 1984 in what was her first soap opera role when she was cast as Lindsey Wells. Now, she returns decades later subbing for Walton, who due to a scheduling conflict, was was unable to travel to Los Angeles when the storyline called for Jill. The Emmy-winning Walton has played the Jill since 1987 and went on recurring status with the show in 2012. Jess also left Los Angeles to reside in Oregon in 2011.

Making this all the richer was the original Jill played by Brenda Dickson, often shared scenes with Koslow’s Y&R character. Lauren played Lindsey Wells until 1986, before moving over to The Bold and the Beautiful as Margo Lynley. Koslow was B&B’s Margo from 1987–1992, and again in 2002. Then, in 1996, she was cast on Days of Our Lives as Kate Roberts, replacing Deborah Adair, and she has been in Salem ever since. But there’s still another another twist to this casting history. Y&R viewers recall Deborah Adair also played Jill, after Brenda Dickson left in 1980, and following a brief stint by Bond Gideon, before heading to DAYS to originate the role of Kate.

THE DAYS AND Y&R CONNECTION

As soap fans know, Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless are both part of Sony. Y&R is produced by Bell Dramatic Serial Company in association with Sony Pictures Television, while DAYS is owned by Corday Productions and distributed by Sony.

So, having Koslow visit The Young and the Restless to fill in for Jess Walton has nothing to do with her continued role of Kate on DAYS. In fact, a rep for the show shared that her upcoming appearance on Y&R, “does not affect her status with the show in any way.” Recently, Stacy Haiduk reprised her role of Patty Williams on Y&R, even though she is still being seen as Kristen DiMera on DAYS.

In a joint statement offered up to TV Insider, executive producer, Sally McDonald and head writer, Josh Griffith expressed, “We’re extremely grateful to Lauren Koslow for returning to her Y&R roots and temporarily stepping into the role of Jill. We want to extend our sincere thanks to Ken Corday (executive producer) and Noel Maxam (co-executive producer) at Days of Our Lives and Peacock. Their support embodies the collaborative spirit of the daytime television community.”

McDonald and Griffith clarified that Jess Walton is forever their Jill and shared, “Jess Walton is an enduring cornerstone of Y&R. We look forward to welcoming her back to Genoa City as her schedule permits and celebrating her extraordinary 40th anniversary as the iconic Jill Abbott.”

So, what do you think of Days of Our Lives Lauren Koslow stepping in for Jess Walton as Jill Abbott? Excited to see what she does in the role while filling in for the Jess? Weigh-in via the comment section below.
